Zeke's Fish n Chips

I’m not big fan on deep fried fish. How ever this fish was fresh and flaky. Just as fish should be. The issue I have is the fish was too HOT to enjoy. Even after breaking the fish into sections. Took too long to cool off. I had the catfish fry’s and hush puppies. Would I go back? If I was in the area I might. I would try the cod next time just so I could compare the two types of fish. Very small amount of parking in front how ever there’s more parking in the back. Restaurant was clean nice however the restrooms are very dated. I almost forgot the cocktail sauce was very good.

Zeke’s never disappoints! Probably the best fried wish in Fort Worth! I always get the cod and tonight I got a combo of cod and shrimp-so good! The service is always good and friendly as well. Will definitely return and recommend!

My boyfriend wanted to try this place since he loves fish and chips. He ordered the special fish dish with 2 pcs of fish and I got the shrimp special with 6 pcs of shrimp. The fish was pretty good. The batter wasn’t flavored much and the tartar sauce was ok. I did enjoy the shrimp and the cocktail sauce it came with. It was also a good amount of fries and it came with 2 hush puppies. Overall pretty good. Just felt like too much fried food in the end.

I had been craving some good cod fish so my coworkers referred me here.. The fish was 7 out of 10,the sides tasted as if they were cooked in the same grease! It was crowded so I had high expectations but sadly I will not be returning nor recommending anyone.

Been eating at Zekes since 1973. Food is absolutely fantastic. Fried Cod, Okra and zucchini comes with hushpuppies and the best tartar sauce I have ever had. I always get a to go box right away and take haf home for lunch the next day. Ton of food fo 16 bucks.

This is by far the best place in D/FW for Fish N Chips! You won't be disappointed! Don't let the exterior fool you! We try and visit at least once a month. Everything on the menus is really good and the staff is really nice! Go check them out!

One of the best fish and chips in the town When i was kid, My parents introduced me to this place and it becomes my favourite place. Time changes i bring my wife here and this turn out to her best place as well. Today i was there with my kids and it’s their favourite place in every weekend. Generation changed but the taste and quality of food stay same.

We've been to Zeke's several times for lunch and have never been disappointed. It's a small place that looks like it's been around a while, and it has a lot of character. Our most recent visit was for lunch on 4/11/2025, and it was excellent, just like the other visits. I had the fish special: two pieces of cod, fries, and a couple of hush puppies. There are plenty of places where you can get catfish, but not many that serve good cod filets. My fish was delicious. It was hot, crispy, and the two good-sized pieces were all I needed for lunch, especially with fries. Parking can be challenging, so keep that in mind. Other than that, if I am looking for fried fish and chips, Zeke's is the top of my list.

Small hole in the wall but the food was great! Made to order! We shared the tacos (one each of cod, cat, and shrimp) - the tacos were gone before I could take a photo Then we shared a few of the combo baskets with catfish and shrimp, and those came with sides so we sampled - salad, fried mushrooms, corn nuggets, clam chowder, gumbo, dirty rice, and hush puppies! My only complaint was that we ordered 2 catfish and 1 cod combo and ended up with 3 catfish. We didn't realize until we stated eating so didn't speak up. Very good value for the amount of food we got. The combo special is a great deal...Would go back for the tacos for sure!

It's been a while since I have eaten at Zeke's and the food has not changed one bit. My favorite is the cod but they do offer catfish and a whole lot of other options. They have cold drinks and beer that you can order by the pitcher. Hush puppies are on point! Wait staff is friendly and always helpful to make sure you have enough tartar sauce and dill sauce for you fried veggies or fried mushrooms. This place has a wholesome laid back vide that play classic rock while you eat.

Not a good situation when they receive 32 health violations in ONE visit! As you can see from this image. It was between November 10th and November 23rd of 2024!

I've been coming to Zeke's since I was a teenager, it's very nostalgic for me. I love their fish and chips. The service is nice. You order at the counter and they being it to your table. They also have an outdoor patio. I'll definitely be back.

Place is legendary for Fish & Chips. It's a must stop for us when in area, there no place by us this good. It's small, counter ordering with table service after order. There is some space outside, restroom is shared with employees and small.

This is my first time eating at Zeke's! I have lived here since 1974, I want to say the food was Great. I know I will be back. The tartar sauce needs more relish. The service time to pickup the order and get it back home was good, everything was still Hot! Lorie B.

Searched up fries fish and came across this place. The gumbo was soooo good. But the fish was mid. I will try again as they were close to closing hours.

What a great visit to a Fort Worth institution that has been around for decades. Zeke's is one of the oldest restaurants in Fort Worth. If you want fish and chips, Zeke's is the place to go. Zeke's is old school with the malt vinegar on the table. My wife is not a big fish fan, so she ordered one of Zeke's phenomenal chicken salad sandwiches. They're known for preparing delicious chicken salad. With my fish and shrimp combo, I started with a bowl of perfectly prepared Cole slaw. Both of our entrees, my fish and shrimp and my wife's chicken salad sandwich were so delicious. It was great dining at Zeke's. We hadn't been there in quite a while, we'll have to return again soon.

First of all, the service here was great! The folks who worked there are the reason this gets 4 starts instead of just 3. I had the fish, shrimp n chips special. The fish (i chose the cod) was overbreaded and kind of greasy.i did enjoy the Shrimp. They were perfectly breaded and I did enjoy them. The building itself was kind of run down and walking through the kitchen to get to the bathroom was kind of off-putting- not to mention decidedly not ADA friendly. Again , I appreciated the staff for assisting me in getting up and down the steps required.

They forgot our clam strips, but then delivered double clam strips for free! Also, their fried mushrooms are so good!!

A friend took me here for dinner. We arrived about a half hour before closing and dined in, which may explain the rather lackluster attitude of the staff. We were the only diners but ate our meal in a reasonable amount of time respecting the closing time. The fish was good, but not remarkable. We placed our order at the counter and had a coupon thru Yelp. The staff had to call a manager on the phone to get approval for the coupon: which seemed very odd as I showed them their page on the Yelp app. I might go back another time if i am in the area.

Stumbled on this gem on social media, it looked so delicious we made the drive to try it. One of the best shrimp I've had, and the fish and chips were amazing and battered to perfection. The staff were also great, they were polite and happy, just made our experience one to remember.

Zeke's is pretty good. I think the food has gotten better lately actually. I always get the cod deluxe and my husband gets the cat fish deluxe. The sides use to need salt Everytime but the fries and mushrooms are better as of late. Never a bad experience and the fish always is good and seems fresh out the fryer.

We go to this restaurant as much as we can! It really reminds us of fish and chips in England. If you are looking for the real thing, this is where to go. Real batter fried cod. And Service is always friendly.

So I ordered from here, on Uber eats, and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. For someone who grew up on fish fry Friday in Wisconsin this was almost like being back home! The cod was breaded and cooked so well and so flavorful! The tarter was a great pairing, and I did the mushrooms and fries. The mushrooms were really good, but I do agree that the fries are lack luster. However, as a whole it was so delicious. I also tried the gumbo! Spend that extra amount and get the bigger portion because it's going to be gone quick. It was still steaming when I received it! It was so fresh and so tasty. If you're a fish fry Friday, or a fish any day type of person than this place is worth ordering from. Obviously I had it delivered so I can't speak on service or ambiance, but the food itself is delicious!

Reliable and tasty West Side spot where time seems to have stood still since the early 1970s. The cod is expertly battered and fried to a perfect crunch. The fish sandwiches are huge, and the fries are appropriately and deliciously greasy. Come hungry!

I was wanting some fish and chips and decided to go to Zekes. The cod is great, it was so good that I went back to back for dinner. The sides however, are really not that good. The fries are pretty bad, no seasoning at all. The service isn't that great either, they aren't rude, they're just kinda bland. Long story short, it's great for fish but I wouldn't get their sides. 3 stars cause the cod was super good.

Short review on this one. We went there for fish and that's exactly what we got. The fish and chips were hot. They could delete the hush puppies as they were sub par. Also the pink lemonade which taste kinda like kool aid watered down. Other than that if you just want some good fish, this is your place.

This place is a gem and a great find! Hole in the wall vibes in the best way. I'm a fish and chips lover and recently had a very sad experience when my favorite fish and chips place in Dallas raised their prices and lessened their serving. I was in the area when I found this place and was really hoping it would be good! Pricing is definitely a win and the serving size is great. The fish itself was very good! I would say this is a more southern type of fish versus your standard english fish and chips but it was a fun change. Overall I really enjoyed this place and I'm just glad to see some decent prices for fish and chips in DFW. Super kind workers too!

Great local spot for fried fish. I enjoyed the breaded cod more than the catfish. The catfish was good, the cod was excellent. The service was attentive and friendly, the vibe was welcoming.

Had lunch for the first time at Zekes today! It was delicious! For everything being fried, there was very little grease. The mushrooms were fantastic and I don't even like mushrooms! We will definitely be back!

Seems there are new owners. Not quite the same attention to the details. I'll give the new folks another chance. Was a regular go-to on Fridays for mackerel snappers.

This place is amazing. Fresh cod or catfish. I always get the cod Wonderful fried zucchini and squash the best fried. Coleslaw is on point. Fabulous atmosphere and service. A must go with fair prices.

Good solid fish and chips. Neighborhood joint. Friendly helpful service. Almost dive type environment for sure. But an institution for sure.

Overall, a good experience! We purchased the Stubby Tub with 8 fish pieces, fries, cole slaw and hush puppies. The fish was hot, tasty and the batter had a light crunch. The fries were ok but we could have used more. The hush puppies were good and the cold slaw was delicious. We asked for ranch and they gave us extra but they forgot to include tartar sauce and eating fish without tartar sauce is a sin, lol! Again, overall it was good and we will be back to try more soon. I never lowveld reviews but I have to on this one. I order through uber eats and I regret it. Probably the worst food I've ever had in my life. Nothing had reading seasoning on it. They must not know a little ssalt goes a long way. I'm actually offended. I'll never order again

Zeke's is an old stand bye in Fort Worth. I have been going for years and it never disappoints. If you want some good fish and chips with great hush puppies, this is a good choice!

Not my first review of this place. My first was years ago. It was 5 stars. I hope that my visit last night was not normal. I noticed there was no line on a Friday event during rush hour. I thought that might be strange. I ordered 2 pieces of Cod, mushrooms and zucchini. They gave us our drinks and hush puppies. We sat down. The hush puppies were just warm, not hot like normal. We started eating them and our food came out fast. She said the zucchini wasn't ready yet and she would bring it. We started eating and the Cod was warm but normally burns your mouth. I tried a mushroom and it was warm but normally burns your mouth. We ate our food but the zucchini never came. After we finished our fish and mushrooms the waitress checked on us. We ask her for our zucchini. She politely said it would be right out. It came out fast. It was so hot it would burn your mouth. The problem with it was the portion size was smaller than normal. I think they forgot and stole from other orders. I am afraid it was disappointing at best. It is an effort to go over there. I think I will wait a good while before we go back if they are still there.

We have been coming to this hole-in-the-wall place for about 20 years. Consistently excellent fried shrimp and cod, the fried shrimp burger is my husband's favorite, and they have the stick type hush puppies that are great. Great food, reasonable prices.

First time in and certainly won't be a last! No pic as food was devoured. Order at counter, we had the fish special with cod, jalapeño cheddar bites and chicken special. To our surprise we were given some hush puppy sticks complimentary. They were hot, fried to perfection and served warm with butter. Due to ordering at the counter, I didn't expect dining service, but we were wrong. Not sure if lady was the owner but she was the best. She refilled our drinks, provided all the condiments & gave us more complimentary hush puppies. Meal takes some time but that's because it's cooked fresh and it's worth the wait. I should have shared mine as I could only eat one piece of fish. Such a great spot and I can't wait to return.

When we wanted fish today and my Yelp Family said this is this place. When we pulled up we got a parking spot in at the front door. When walked in the aroma of good food cooking was just what made me feel at home. The decor was was perfect for the location. I was presently surprised how quickly that we moved through the line. However, I was a little disappointed that the 10% for First time yelpers dining-in was in question. Any hoot - the the food that was brought to the counter for the other guest was of good portion and appetizimg to the eye. We ordered 2 Fish and Shrimo combos ( 1- Cod / 3 Shrimp/ Fries/coleslaw which came with hushpuppies). The one piece of Cod was Enough- it was LARGE, HOT, and Tenderly Juicy. The Fries were cooked perfectly - and it was just the right amount so that I did not feel stuffed. The Coleslaw was really good with not a lot of mayo . Too much mayo is not good at all. The hush puppies were the B-O-M-B.. They were light with a spice KICK.. Service could have been better; however, based on the cashier, some of the staff and server - they were not expecting the rush they received. I will Be Back...

Zekes always fulfills expectations. Fried cod is larger portions that stay moist and flaky to the center, 1,2,3 and fried sides eggplant, mushrooms, are wonderful. They have other options, and catfish as well. Reasonable prices and prompt made to order. Tartar and ranch are good dipping sauces and hush puppies have a bit of saltiness and just a bit of spiciness. Zekes is one of the first places a friend from tcu brought me off campus as he was a FW local, and I still regularly come back to Zekes now 40 years later. Easy access near 30 on Camp Bowie. Plenty of parking in front, back, and their private lot at the right end of the block. But never that crowded, some drive through or takeouts are lots of business also.

One of the best fish & chips in the metroplex for many years. A true Fort Worth hole-in-the-wall. Their bread and butter is truly the cod fish, fried mushrooms, and hush puppies. Though their french fries are not the best around, their other sides, particularly their fried mushrooms are far above the others. Besides their cod fish, their made-in-house dill dipping sauce and tar-tar sauce elevates the food so well, it is one the main differential factors compared to other places. Service is always attentive and hospitable, it matches the retro interior of the restaurant. Brought many friends and family here, and easy to say, we've all been back.

Zeke's has Texas sized fillets of cod! Best fried cod I've ever had. This is a quaint hole in the wall off a small road near Camp Bowie. They have several recognitions for their food. Highlights: - Outstanding customer service - the lady at the front explained the menu and made recommendations, offered us water while we waited on our to-go order - The cod fillets were HUGE! We ordered the 4 pc cod deluxe. It came with 2 sides, so we ordered fried zucchini and okra. Generous side portions - Reasonable prices - Fast service -They have a frequent visitors program where you can earn a free drink etc FYI: small parking lot, you may need to drive around during peak hours

Let me start by saying the most amazing workers you will ever find!! Small restaurant and super friendly people! From the moment you walked in, ordering, seated it's just like walking to the most wonderful time of your life! Even the cook asked about your dinner! About 10times! Food was good! Cod was huge, we didn't expect it to be that big! I wouldn't order the okra again but the rest are wonderful and delicious! The patrons in the restaurant seems to be so happy for sure because they are also being treated like a king and queen! Definitely will be back! Oh there is one incident w pan handler trying to ask us to buy him a beer but then the worker address that within seconds! And then apologized to us like 100times! So we are pretty amazed by them! Thank you! We will be back soon!!!
