This open-air museum is the town where people lived in carved homes out of the mountains in ancient times. The place had an active population until 1952, when the Turkish government decided to move the population to nearby cities. You can expect to spend a few hours here and explore how life was in those times. Consider that not all the spaces are accessible and you should exercise caution.

I loved this place.... it was a nice walk through the historical caves. Every bit of this place speaks about a part of the history of this area. It was amazing how the people of this area used to live. This place is a must visit. It is worth it. Ps. : There was no big line for the tickets, and it was very easy to get one.

Can you imagine people were still living here until 1965? The last resident didn't want to move until one of their children passed away because of rock slide. As crazy as it sounds, I can understand why they didn't wanna leave. I mean, why would they? With that view that you can see everyday, a vast spread of magnificent rosey hued rocks and ancient structures, this place has a soul. Spare some extra hour to hike to all available spot. The pictures are gonna be worth it.

We visited later in the afternoon and it was very quiet and serene. A lot less busy and crowded than the Goreme Open Air Museums. This one had a lot more cave homes around in the mountains but not as much church artwork. Would recommend going in the afternoon if you like a less crowded experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed this passage back in time. Incredible landscape, enormous history, and a very well kept attraction that doesn't have the hoards of tourists similar attractions have of this ilk. Get there early and you'll have the place to yourself.

This place was amazing. Personally enjoyed this a lot more compared to the Goreme Open Air Museum. We went at 5pm and it was extremely serene with only 3 other groups viewing the area. This open air museum also really shows how intertwined and impressive the historical caves really are.

I visited Zelve Open Air Museum recently and overall, it was a good experience. The scenery is unique and the cave dwellings give you a real sense of the historical lifestyle in Cappadocia. The walking paths are well maintained and it's not overly crowded, which makes exploring more enjoyable. That said, I did feel like the place is a bit overhyped on social media. While it's definitely interesting, some of the dramatic expectations set online don't quite match the reality. It's worth visiting if you're already in the area, but don’t expect it to be more spectacular than other sites in Cappadocia like Göreme or Pasabag. A solid stop if you enjoy history and natural landscapes, just go with realistic expectations.

Yelp
Zelve is an open air museum. It's a Cappadocian fever dream where early Christians once prayed, then peaced out, leaving behind a real estate goldmine for pigeons and wide-eyed tourists. It's like ancient Airbnb: no furniture, just vibes and so much natural light. Every angle is a filter-free masterpiece. Quiet? Sure -- unless you count the cooing of a thousand extremely judgmental birds. Bring comfy shoes, a decent camera, and your best existential crisis. Zelve's just chilling now, waiting for someone to explain TikTok.
