Where to find the best Asian food in Chinatown | Eater Vegas

"Satisfy late-night katsu cravings at Chinatown’s Zen Curry. While the exterior resembles an office with window shutters and door decals, the inside buzzes with the energy of a Japanese night market stall. Order massive plates of katsu with rice, preferred spice level, and toppings, all washed down with a wide selection of sake." - Jennifer Smith

Google
A friend recommended this spot. Not much to look at inside or out, but that can usually be a good sign for quality food. I highly enjoyed my shrimp curry and oyster app. The spice level was good. Flavor on point. We all left happy. The croquette was def a favorite of the group. Brother said he would order just those next time.

Fairly Great C.

Google
Authentic Japanese style curry dishes!! I love the daily fresh made curry with generous portions and different selections of rice - so much chicken in their chicken tender curry!! I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it’s still solid. Reasonably priced for so much food $37.40 before tip!

Google
At Curry Zen, the food feels like comforting home cooking — just like something a mom would make. The Japanese curry is very authentic, and you can choose both the spice level and portion size. The freshly fried pork cutlet is tender inside with a crispy, fragrant coating. The pork-and-beef mixed meatloaf is juicy and flavorful as well.

Google
The best Japanese Curry I ever had. Taste is really amazing, I have been here for more than 30 times and the taste is consistent always. Service is really good, they greet and treat very friendly and food also comes on time.

Google
This Japanese-style curry house serves up authentic, delicious dishes with a simple menu that’s easy to navigate. You choose your rice portion, spice level, and protein pairing. With a decent spice tolerance, I found level 6 had just the right heat—noticeable but not overwhelming. For a challenge, I’d try level 8 or higher. Don’t skip the affordable appetizers or the complimentary Japanese pickled radish—it’s a must-have with the curry. The service is top-notch, with a friendly, attentive staff. While the vibe is unremarkable, typical of a strip mall spot, the food makes it absolutely worth visiting.

Ordered online. Fresh ingredients and great flavor, but for the high price would expect a bit more. Also the mochi ice cream came completely melted

Google
I visited Zen Curry because of the hype and reviews suggesting it might be the best curry spot in town. Honestly, I don’t think the reviews are very legitimate — the place doesn’t have that “iconic” vibe people describe. The katsu breading was nothing special; it felt more like something homemade rather than restaurant quality. The food overall wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t particularly good or memorable either. I’ve tried many curry places in my life, and this didn’t stand out as anything better than average.

Google
Favorite chicken katsu curry place! This location remains consistent with quality on food. It has become my comfort food since the first day! The service is fast. The waitresses are attentive. They serve the plates as soon as their ready. Food is always served hot and cooked to perfection. The chicken is crunchy on the outside with tender meat in the middle. Do not let the exterior deter you away.

Amazing Authentic Curry and Chicken Katsu! We will return soon. Service was 5 stars and clean

Yelp
Hm..... many people giving this place very high rating. Honestly, I think this place is way...overpriced If you look at the menu, you first pick the rice and curry it says. Second you pick hot spicy you like, follow by the protein, which is like chicken, meat loaf, and so on, for additional $5-$8, but now you go back, the first page saying small, reg or big rice and curry. Look at the price! Reg is $10, and large is $13, for white rice!!! I can't remember what I order, but it came out almost $20 The curry flavor is good, chicken is good, white rice I paid over $10 is blah, is white rice‍ Overall experience was a-okay The place is tiny, staffs was friendly too.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years so I think they deserve a review at this point. It's a fast casual built your own curry katsu spot. The curry is always tasty. I highly recommend adding spice if you like spice. Careful though because I wouldn't go over maybe a level 5 or 6. The spice level can easily get out of hand haha To order, you pick a curry base then add the meat / tofu choice on separately. The spinach curry is really delicious btw! One thing I'm sad about is I remember years ago when they first opened the almonds and raisins would be free for the table, but now it's an extra charge :( I think they should offer a topping platter so you get a little bit of each. When you order the raisins they give almost 2x too many. This place is quick and authentic casual Japanese. It looked like the cooks were all Mexican and I thought it was cool that they let them add their own touch to the menu. They recently added breakfast tacos , Jamaica and horchata which I'll try on the next visit probably:)

Yelp
I love all types of comfort food, and Japanese curry is one of them. I've been to a few different Japanese katsu places here in Vegas, but this is the place I crave because it's totally no frills, and the focus is on the curry. The curry is super flavorful and generous, and the cool thing is you can decide which size portion to get between small, regular, and large . In addition you can choose your spice level and what meat (or meatless) option to add to your curry. I like to enjoy my dish on level 9 spice with extra pickled radish and a nice cold beer.

Yelp
We ordered the nan (spelling incorrect on menu) "bread", potato croquette, and tofu katsu curry. While the potato croquette and tofu katsu were cooked to perfection, the nan bread didn't quite meet expectations. Traditional naan is typically crispy, with garlic or butter spread on top, and cooked in a tandoori or wood-fired oven. This version felt more like it had been microwaved. For the tofu katsu, I'd recommend adding a bit more flavor and ensuring a more balanced plate by increasing the curry portion--there was quite a bit of rice. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was exceptional, which made for an enjoyable experience overall. The curry itself was very good, and I'd definitely recommend this spot to curry lovers.

Yelp
Stopped in and had a good lunch. I realize to rate anywhere a five stars rating it all comes down to their sincere qualities of service.

Yelp
What a diamond in the rough! With the price of everything going up it's actually strange to see a restaurant NOT charging over $20 per meal. I mean, even fast food prices are outrageous nowadays. Japanese Curry Zen has managed to maintain high standards of food quality while keeping prices in check.

Yelp
If you're a fan of bold flavors and hearty meals, this Japanese curry spot in Las Vegas is a must visit! The menu is fully customizable, starting with your choice of rice or noodle based curry, followed by the type of rice, spice level from 1 to 10, and a variety of proteins and toppings to make it your own. Level 2 offers a mild kick for those who like a little heat, while level 8 brings bold spice without overpowering the rich, savory curry. I tried level 8 and felt I could have gone for level 10. While the price does add up depending on your toppings and customizations, it is absolutely worth it for the quality and flavor. With its friendly staff, quick service, and cozy atmosphere, this spot is definitely a great curry option in Las Vegas.

Yelp
Overall: 4.3/5 [dine in] We came here for a late lunch and were seated right away. The staff was very professional, though the food took a while to arrive. Their menu features a build-your-own curry bowl, where you can customize the portion size, carb, spice level, toppings, and proteins. I was taken aback that they charged extra for a higher level spice; it should honestly be included in the base price of the curry in my opinion. We got a small curry with white rice ($8.50) since we didn't want a lot of rice. However, there wasn't enough curry so we had to order extra side of curry ($3). Although the portion was small, the curry was delicious. Note: They charged us $0.20 twice for spicy level 4 for the small order & extra side order of curry. My husband added scrambled egg ($2) and sweet honey ($1.50) as the toppings (not needed from my perspective). For the protein, we got the 5 piece kushi ($7) since we were sharing. The kushi included chicken, zucchini, quail egg, shiitake mushroom, & fried shrimp. They were all equally good. We also got 5 pieces of takoyaki ($5.75) and 6 pieces of deep friend pork & shrimp shumai ($5). These appetizers were fresh & tasted better than the kushi. Although the food was satisfying, I'm not really a fan of the way they charge for every single little thing.

Yelp
The absolute best Japanese curry! Curry Zen is a must-visit! Ambiance & Service: The interior is clean with plenty of seating. I visited on a weekday for dinner and there was no wait. The servers were very nice and attentive, and the food came out hot and fresh. Food: I ordered regular curry (spice level 4) with white rice and tofu katsu. The portion was hefty, enough for leftovers. Spice level 4 is a perfect medium, and the curry is savory and flavorful with hints of turmeric and other spices. The tofu is perfectly fried, and the rice is soft, soaking in the delicious curry. TL;DR: Delicious Japanese curry with friendly service. Try the tofu katsu!

Yelp
First time trying Zen. I'm currently on a low- carb diet, but my other half was craving japanese style curry, so she did a search on Yelp and found Zen. We walked in, and the restaurant is small. Cozy, but small, guesstimating about 10 tables. Thankfully, we were able to sit immediately. Being that I'm on a low-carb diet, I asked about not having rice with my order. I was informed that I can substitute vegetables for the rice, so I opted for that. I got the small fried tofu curry, with the vegetables substituted for the rice. We also ordered Chicken Katsu curry and a side of Karaage Chicken. Our food came pretty quick, the curry sauce was really good, and the fried tofu was hot and crisp. The other items looked really good as well! One thing that I was not expecting, was that I was charged for the vegetables, meaning it was not a straight substitute for not getting the rice, nor was I informed of this when I initially inquired about the substitution. The food itself was very tasty and served piping hot, no complaints.

Yelp
It's not that good!!!!!! My grandma and I had the pork katsu curry and we both wanted to cry bc we hate wasting money but our hard earned money went to waste on bad food

Yelp
Delicious. 4.5/5. My sweetheart and I shared a large with chicken and pork katsu. It was a huge plate! Lots of rice, lots of gravy. Tasty meats fried up nicely. Be cautious with the spice level. Boyfriend described the 5 as almost too hot for him and he likes heat a lot. I erred on the side of caution and chose 3, knowing he likes much hotter food than I do. Very delicious! Noticeable kick, but not overwhelming. Level 3 was super enjoyable and left space to try a 4 next time. The kids working the store are very nice. Items arrive very quickly. Definitely add this to your Spring Mountain repertoire.

Yelp
Small restaurant tucked in the back with a chill vibe. Music was at a comfortable level where I feel like I wasn't involved in the tables conversation next to me but I didn't have to talk overly loud to communicate. I really liked our waitress Bree, she gave some good recommendations since it was mine and my brothers first time visiting. I got the white rice with vegetables in the curry, pork and chicken Katsu. Spice is definitely on the mild side if you are used to Thai restaurant spice levels. Everything tasted really good I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
debated posting this or not idk if i'm being dramatic but here it is: i love this place for curry it's the best curry i've had. as for my visit today, i was already having a bad day so i took myself out to eat. i went to eat alone and as soon as i got there i could feel the cook staring at me through the small window , eyeing me down. i was thinking maybe i'm overthinking it and went on about my visit but i could still feel someone staring at me. i just felt uncomfortable and i rushed to eat my food because of this. I asked the server if i can get a to go cup for my thai tea and Idk why but the cook brought it out!!!! from the kitchen!! I already felt uncomfortable as he was already staring at me the whole time there, but at this point i felt offended that he felt okay doing this, he was asking me where i was from, my name; if i lived here and if i was single or taken. i was being nice because i hate confrontation and I felt uncomfortable. why do men think this is okay to do? maybe he had good intentions but it isn't the way to go about it. Honestly the whole interaction was just weird for me. i just wanted to enjoy my meal. this is the small window i was getting stared at my whole visit. sucks i loved this place! wont be going to this spot anymore.

Yelp
I was craving curry and decided to try out Japanese Curry Zen! We arrived as a party of 5 on Friday night around 7:30 pm and were immediately seated. The menu is pretty simple with some appetizers, drinks, and curry customizations. I ordered a regular size curry (spice level 3) with pork katsu for $16.15. The service was fast, and our orders came out within 10 minutes. The rice was perfectly cooked and had the correct stickiness. The curry was so flavorful and the spice was just enough. The pork Katsu was tender, juicy, and well breaded. One small downside is the price. With the curry customizations, you can easily rack up the price. $16 for basic curry with no toppings and a standard size pork katsu filet is pretty expensive. However, it is worth the price. Overall, this was a delicious meal that reminded me of the curry I had in Japan!

Yelp
Zen curry is popping. Fast, spicy, yummy. Would definitely come again with a hot date. If you want to see her boogies run have her get an 8+ Clean plate club Approved

Yelp
(Pics from multiple visits), I have been waiting to make this review as I have visited Curry Zen so many timesss. In my opinion the best curry you can get in Las Vegas and it never disappoints ! Service is always consistently great and always I feel comfortable around the environment of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for good options of katsu and curry !

Yelp
Went here for the first time for lunch with friends and had a wonderful experience. From the start it appears very clean, wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, I was given a menu and had options explained to me. I went with a small sized plate with brown rice and pork katsu & croquette, level 5 spice. Even with a fairly steady lunch rush we were greeted quickly, had our order taken and received our drinks right away. The food took about 10-15 minutes to arrive. Everything looked fresh and my food was delicious. Just the right amount of heat from the spice, and the curry itself was wonderful. Reasonably priced and an overall excellent experience, I will most certainly be back again!

Yelp
Came here because my personal trainer recommended it. If you're on a health kick get the katsu chicken, boiled chicken, or katsu pork. Just get the white rice because the veggies are mostly potatoes. The curry sauce is amazing. The staff was really nice and the service is very fast and friendly. The ambience is very laid back. The prices were very reasonable. I'd definitely come back again.

Yelp
I've been coming here for about 8-10 years, a lot of great memories and delicious food, but the current price for a meal is not justified even through harsh economic times. Do I rate the food 5 stars; yes, does the place have a good atmosphere; yes, but the price gouging is absolutely absurd. It seems as though the expansion of multiple locations raised the prices to support some of the other locations that aren't doing so well. Take it from a local, there are curry places in the valley with the same taste, yet bigger portions and fair prices. I recommend Curry Ya in the Cheongdam Food hall on Spring Mountain. The meal comes with a full size curry plate with the protein included, soup and salad for less than $13.

Yelp
First time having Japanese curry but I'm very happy my friend suggested this place. The food was made fresh to order. I ordered chicken katsu curry spicy level 5 and that was perfect for me. It had a nice kick, not too spicy, but spicy enough for me to enjoy my dish. The curry was very flavorful and the white rice was also cooked very well. It wasn't too dry, overcooked or anything like that. I would definitely be back and would also recommend this place. There's plenty of parking. Our waiter was nice and willing to answer any questions we had with a smile.

Yelp
Loved our Japanese Curry - All vegetarian experience. See attached photos. Spinach Curry - 3* Vegetable Curry - 4* Note for next time: me - Spice level - 6-7 Wife: spice level 3

Yelp
Great spot if you're in the mood for something hot and savory. Ive come here on occasion and never been disappointed. Service is always fast and every employee is super nice. I normally get a chicken katsu curry with vegetables added. I recommend asking for some red pickled radish on the side, it's gives the curry a nice crunch and change of texture. Overall, this place never disappoints and I recommend a try. I do think it's getting a bit too pricey for a Japanese rice dish.
google avatar

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place as our intended destination was closed. Little did I know this place has a few locations! Their curry was made in a central kitchen from scratch and then distributed to all locations. That's why it's not the same as the curry you got from a cube in supermarket, it has a little spice kick even it's 0 spiciness. Service was excellent; friendly and accommodating. My friend asked to switch from white rice to brown rice after the food delivered and they did it. Their miso soup is loaded and the portions of the dishes are big. The omu rice with curry is a safe bet and the veggies curry looks good too. What I like is their homemade dessert. The earl grey panna cotta is flavorful and light. And it's only $3.5. Good price and good quality. I'm so glad we found this place. Their curry is indeed special.

Yelp
Disclaimer: harsh reviews but justified and valid. I've been eating my work lunches at Zen curry for about 4 years now.....normally about once per week on average. The food is Amazing..... no doubt. And for a curry house they have a diverse range of offerings and all tasty. The service however, has never been amazing....... I've dealt with it because of the delicious food. However my last 3 visits (yes I gave it three times) the same exact thing occurred. I came in, placed my order......paid on the tablet and tip on the 18-25% scale and sit and wait for my order..... except I'm never offered a water, it's 120 degrees out and I just paid 24 bucks plus tip for lunch and no water? This last time I asked (the last time I will ever visit) I think the woman forgot and just came back with my food 10 or so minutes later So, why am I tipping for to go 18 to 25% if the server / hostess is literally doing? What a racket Anyways Food amazing Prices are...... aggressive And service is completely non-existent to the point of shameful

Yelp
You know the food is good when you go back to the same place twice in Vegas. I pretty much ordered the same thing as the first time, the chicken katsu curry (medium spicy) with brown rice adding corn. The service is always so good here. It doesn't matter who seats you or checks on your table, everyone is really nice and works hard. They are always making sure you're good on everything and are quick to clear tables so you never have to wait long. Food also comes out incredibly fast which was great cause we were hungry! The chicken katsu is very thinly breaded and perfectly fried. The chicken is not dried out at all and everything comes out HOT. The curry is definitely Japanese style and I love the options to make it different levels of spicy. They even offered to bring some of the spice on the side in case we wanted to kick it up a notch so we could control the spice level. The inside is a little small but it doesn't feel cramped. It's always busy here because everyone knows how tasty the food is and what a great value for your money. If I want to eat well, but I don't want to break the bank this is our go-to.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night and was seated immediately after arrival. I had ordered the chicken curry with white rice and vegetables. The dish was amazing and definitely worth the price. I had also ordered a curry pan which they only have a limited amount per day. They forgot my order and were to remind one of the servers but they immediately brought one out for us. I was pleased that it came right away but was extremely disappointed after biting into the curry pan. It was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. I didn't want to bother the servers about the food because they already appeared busy serving the other tables so we just let it be. Although this is still a great place to eat Japanese curry.

Yelp
Finally back here after ten years! It was ok.. naan was gross. The sauce was good, chicken katsu was still the best dish of them all. I say it was good, but not as great as it was in the past.

Yelp
Finally got to try this delicious curry spot, and their curry was so rich and flavorful! The pork was crispy and cooked perfectly, and the fried egg was a creamy addition. The rice was just as amazing, and everything mixed together was the perfect comfort food! The employees were friendly and helpful, and we didn't wait long for our food, around 10 minutes. The restaurant is in a bustling plaza near the Strip, and well worth the drive over. I'll definitely be back to get this amazing curry again!

Yelp
My favorite curry spot. Simple comfort food whenever you're in the mood for something quick and that'll fit your cravings.

Yelp
This place always hits the spot! It is a Chinatown staple and a big white space to many cities with a decent sized Asian population (:cough cough Tampa-St. Pete, FL:) Curry Zen has a great menu that doesn't solely focus on just katsu curry... but it is their specialty so I highly recommend it! I love that you can select the level of spice and customize your dishes as much as you want, adding or removing sides, etc. I like to keep it simple and am blown away by just the pork katsu curry with white rice. I go for the 4 out of 5 level of spice and the dish deserves every award in my book- such a triumph! It is crispy, it is just the right amount of spice that is enjoyable but has a kick, and the amount of rice is just right- not too little, but just enough to enjoy the big pool of the Japanese curry. Again, I only dream that a katsu curry place could be within reach of my neighboring cities, but I'll be counting the days til I make it back! Just a note, there is limited seating so keep that in mind if you're planning to go with a big party and during peak dinnertime... there may be a wait, but trust me it's worth it!

Yelp
Love this place so much! Food was legit and we can't wait to go back there again. The curry was delicious and the kids enjoyed it so much. The staff were attentive and helpful. The restaurant is small so if you have a large group, it might be a challenge. Overall, we highly recommend this place and will try their curry pan for sure

Yelp
Date: Monday, April 10th, 2023 Time: around 2:30pm Meal: Lunch Group of: 7 adults +2 kids = 9 total Wait: about 10-15 mins, not too long at all for a large party *Curry Pan: limit 20/day ($3.50) *Takoyaki: Fried Octopus Ball, 5pcs ($5.50) *Mix Fry: Fried Shrimp, Chicken Katsu, Croquette, 2pc Tofu Katsu ($6) *Shumai ($4.50) *Curry: Small ($7), Brown Rice, Spicy 10 (+$0.45), Corn (+$0.75), Chicken Katsu (+$5), Beef (+$7), Spinach (+$3.50), 5pc Kushi: Chicken, Zucchini, Quail Egg, Shiitake Mushroom, Fried Shrimp (+$7), Side Curry ($3): Spicy 18 (+$2) = $35.70 *Curry: Regular ($8.95), Extra White Rice (+$1.50), Spicy 8 (+$0.35), Pork Katsu (+$5), Kurobuta Sausage (+$4.50) = $20.30 *Kasumitsuru: extra dry, 4 oz ($8.50 glass) *Kirin Ichiban: 22 oz ($5) Until I took the time to recap what I ordered, I had no clue my curry was almost $36! Damn. Obviously what is listed above is just some apps and what the hubby and I ordered. Not the whole group. The curry was good, tho not very spicy at all! I'm a little upset I paid an extra $2.45 for something that just had a very modest amount of spice. Even the kids that can't handle spice thought the 8-10 level was nothing. I should have known since they said they went up to 100 in spice. (Tho why do you only highlight 1-10?!) If I ever find myself back, I will order 100. Though hopefully it's not like $10 more for it! The curry itself had a nice thickness and flavor. I do like A LOT of curry with my rice, so I probably would have needed two-three sides to finish all my rice. I left about half the brown rice on my small curry plate. Everything else was gone tho. The hubby liked his regular sized curry plate. He was going to order a large, but did the math in his head and it was actually cheaper to do a regular with extra rice. He's the opposite of me. He likes A LOT of rice. Good spot to get some Japanese Curry. I just wish it were spicier! Note: I don't know how, but they ran out of every single sake on their list except for the one I got. When I inquired about getting a bottle, they said they only had glasses left. I don't know if they do corkage, but maybe call ahead to see if they have sake if that's what you are craving. At almost $10 for that little glass, it will get pricey if that's all you're drinking.

Yelp
I came here with my husband, we always heard of zen but never tried it until now. I opted for the pork katsu curry and my husband opted for the chicken katsu curry. The curry was mid. I honestly don't taste a huge difference between making curry at home from instant and the one I ordered from zen. Our katsu was super over fried though. It felt like I ate something super hard and dry. My husband felt the same about his food. Super overcooked and dry and the curry wasn't that amazing. It could be a different cook I guess, but I don't think I will be coming back, I just didn't really like the food that much.

Yelp
I was craving some Japanese curry and this place did not disappoint. The menu is super easy and simple. You pick the curry size, spicy level, and any add ons. Total is about $15-$18 which is not bad! I chose spicy level 5 and I probably could've done level 7/8 as it wasn't too spicy. The chicken katsu was delicious but somewhat dry so the curry definitely helps to balance it out. I love scooping up a spoon of chicken katsu, rice, and curry in one bite! Curry Food: Small $7.00 Spicy 5 $0.20 Scrambled Egg $1.50 (came with tomatoes) Corn $0.75 Chicken Katsu $5.00 Total: $14.50 priceless Husband's Curry: Regular $8.95 Spicy 2 $0.20 Fried Egg $1.50 Chicken Katsu $5.00 Croquette $3.75 Beef $7.00

Yelp
The reviews on this place were very solid, but I was a bit disappointed. The meal was good and filling, but the tonkatsu was really dry, which dragged the whole dish down. Portions are really big though, and the curry itself is tasty. Maybe a different protein would have been the way to go here.

Yelp
I honestly can't even write this review without getting hungry. It's right to say that I'm obsessed with this place. I don't even mind making the 20 minute drive, because the quality of food is out of this world. I came here a second time and got the exact same thing, because I had to make sure it was really that good and not just some fluke. And it was 100% just that good. Their Chicken Katsu is extremely crispy and their curry pairs so perfect with it. This time I got it with a scrambled egg and, wow, it was amazing. I also decided to try a Croquette with my curry and it was just as crispy as the chicken. It was filled with smooth potatoes and some veggies in there too. Delicious. Service is always fast and helpful. I really can't wait to visit again. Definitely recommend visiting.

Yelp
First time Here... service was disappointing... they made it us wait outside, which wasn't the issue.. the issue was that they completely forgot about us.... 15-20 min. It wasn't until another couple came inside and sat inside when we came back in and told us to seat wherever. What's the point of them making us check in and sign the notebook if there going to be forgetting us... disappointing

Yelp
Unbelievably good. Got the large plate with Pork and Chicken katsu....5 stars. Perfect heat, shockingly delicious. Service was mediocre, disinterested hipster with a toy mouse on her shoulder. Food was so good i can look past it. Nothing to say about the ambiance, didn't matter. Enjoy!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and it's such a simple concept for such flavor! I love coming here as Japanese curry is one of my favorite things. And to do it in a way that honors the curry is something to be admired. The simplest way to enjoy is to just order the curry with whichever protein you desire, but no need to go overboard, as the star of the show is the curry. There is a 1-10 scale in spice, and I highly recommend trying a spice 6 or higher, as the depth of flavor keeps increasing with the spice level. If you are looking for an affordable, yet authentic meal, consider Zen, as you won't be disappointed. I've even had take out from here and it is just as good every time. And service is quick and efficient. This is one of my go-to restaurants for when visitors are in town.

Yelp

Yelp
My order was regular-size, spicy, and added pork katsu, deep fried shrimp, fried quail eggs, and 3-pc kushi (fried soft tofu). The curry was the star! Full of flavor with the right thickness to hold up with rice. Will try chicken katsu next time but everything was delicious. The Curry Udon was a recommended item and I agree. If unsure, just get it to try or have as a side and share. Note if in a group, everyone should order a small order of curry with add-ons instead as that should fulfill the hunger. Also, do a side of vegetables so it feels healthy, haha. But, sharing items is a must so get appetizers and the decent Curry Pan (it's like a samosa - limited to 20/day) and you will leave stuffed! First time and adding to our Vegas eateries rotation.

Yelp
Back in early 2019, my husband and I were visiting in Las Vegas for a major work conference. Unfamiliar with the area, but a bit bummed by the expensive and uninspiring food options on strip, we started looking for some homey comfort food off-strip. This was how we chanced upon this spot via a Yelp search. I think when people think of food at Las Vegas, they think of the Bacchanal or Gordon Ramsey, but for us, we always fondly remember this spot. Recently we visited Las Vegas for another work conference, this time with two toddlers in tow, and even though it had been years since our last visit, we knew we had to carve time out of our stay to come back here. So thrilled they survived the pandemic, but given their excellent food and service, we aren't surprised in the least. The first time we ordered food to go so we could enjoy it in our hotel room and manage some cranky toddlers (and me who was exhausted from walking 18k steps on the exhibition floor in my 3rd trimester). They separate the rice and meat from the curry so that it doesn't arrive messy or soggy. The add-ons are also in their own clear plastic containers. I also ended up ordering an extra katsudon for the next day's lunch (I refuse to pay $40 for a slice of pizza and side salad at the exhibition). The portion sizes are always so generous here, which makes my food-obsessed preggo self very, very happy. A few days later, as we drove back to the Bay Area, we made sure to make one last pit stop here to dine indoors. Service was quick and excellent, and food was incredible. We left Las Vegas on a fantastic note. Don't know when we'll be back again, but for sure this place is a keeper again and again worth every visit.

Yelp
Small dinning area with room for about 36 people. The menu is simple. I ordered beef curry with vegetables. It was delicious and reminded me of my years in Japan in the 80's. I highly recommend this restaurant. Subarahi!

Yelp
Food is good. The service is good. Everything is good. I've been here over a handful of times and it never disappoints. Their server has always been nice and respectful and usually lets us choose where we want to seat. They have a fast service and checks up on you occasionally to see if you need anything from them. They are nice and very approachable about anything that you need from the restaurant. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Had a huge craving for something crunchy and skewered, and the Mix Fry plate was the answer to my dilemma! Personally, the Mix Fry is the best value if you're just looking for something light, but meaty.. it's $7, but you get a side salad with a flavorful dressing, 2 fried tofu, 1 potato croquette, 1 shrimp skewer, and 1chicken skewer. My favorite would have to be the shrimp skewer and the tofu. Both of them are crunchy on the outside, but soft and light on the inside.. this menu item might not seem much, but It's pretty filling, if you ask me! On another note, I've been sporadically going to Curry Zen since 2015- and each time I've been here has been a pleasant experience. I don't always go here because it's usually super busy and their plaza has very little parking spots during rush hours, so it's a treat when I'm able to visit! My usual order is usually a small chicken katsu with curry, small kurabuta sausage with curry, or the mix fry. All of them never miss and are always so good. They've been pretty consistent for me, and I am always happy and satisfied every time I eat here!

Yelp
My family goes here almost every time we go to Vegas. It's a consistently delicious curry place with a good portion size. You can adjust the spice level of your curry from no spice to level 10 (it gets more expensive the higher you go). The restaurant is pretty small and I'd imagine that it can get pretty full quickly. This place is very affordable relative to all of the expensive establishments within the hotels. So if you don't want to break the bank for a high quality flavorful meal, I'd highly recommend checking this spot out. I ordered a regular sized curry at no spice (I'm weak T-T ) and I added chicken katsu and a fried egg. I feel like it's essential to add some form of fried protein since it just adds a nice textural contrast to the sauce and rice. The egg didn't really do to much for me so I'd omit it next time I go. My family also decided to order the chicken karage, and honestly although it was seasoned well, I felt that it was quite dry. Overall, definitely come check this place out and enjoy a nice big plate of comforting japanese curry.
