Zen Restaurant

This place is rather hidden and a nice place to go to for dinner or hangout in general. Rather than going classic, they lit up purple lights and it made it semi restaurant and semi club without the music. The tables are nicely spaced out so we all had privacy and space to move around. The outdoor dining would have been totally fantastic in the warmer days. They had h th e whole courtyard!!!! Our waiter was phenomenal. He was so kind and attentive. The service was friendly and welcoming. The food was ok. They did not disappoint but I’d come back for the service and the space.

Rolls are delicious. We got a set for two which was called “you and me”. Made from fresh ingredients. We are full. Especially we liked the crispy ones. The texture was very unusual. The only downside is that we had to wait about 15 minutes. Dumplings with shrimp are excellent. Our child liked them. Mango lassi is on a decent level. The restaurant did not accept cards. Starting tomorrow, it will be closed for a week.

The food is great, we tried sushi, kimchi and coco soup and they all were delicious and fresh. During lunch it’s pretty busy and you may not find preferred place or for larger groups. The restaurant is clean and had cozy atmosphere. Staff is helpful but during rush hours you may have to wait a bit. Clean toilets are at downstairs. We didn’t tried any cocktails but they have good drinks options.

Incredible food, amazing atmosphere! To explain in more detail, Zen Restaurant is a standout among Asian restaurants, offering an exceptional culinary experience that combines tradition with innovation. The ambiance is inviting, with a contemporary design that incorporates subtle Asian elements, creating a relaxing and refined dining environment. I would absolutely recommend tasting sushi here! Totally fresh and yummy!

Completely mediocre sushi with above average atmosphere. Kimchi was fresh, and had a sweet citrus taste, without anchovy flavor. Salmon soup was really a thai lemongrass soup with a couple of pieces of salmon in it. Drinks were fairly priced; white wine was oaky but not too bad, and the saki was surprisingly good given the lack of choices. Sashimi bowl was overly flavored: you had to scrape off the sauces and sesame to get to the fish flavor. The fish was nice, but the menu lied: there was no eel in the bowl. There was a lot of lettuce, however. Speaking of lies, the waiter absolutely refused to honor Yelp's free Prosecco with checkin offer. In many cities, this place would be a disaster, but I grade sushi in Berlin on a curve, since this isn't the town for that cuisine, and I did appreciate the atmosphere of Zen, despite some of the shortcomings of food and service.

I have no idea why this place gets a high rating. The space is nice, maybe it's different in the evening. I went just after the lunch time rush so as you can see from the photos it wasn't exactly packed which makes me wonder why it took so long to take our order. Mark ordered the chicken curry which was good and a nice sized portion. I ordered the sushi and I have to say I expected the quality to be much better. The rice was on the harder side of al dente and the quality of the fish itself was somehow lacking in taste. I was quite disappointed. They bought over an extra drink along with my mango lassi the one advertised for €1.90 along with the lunch menu, see photo. Luckily Mark sent back the spare drink we didn't order back because we probably would have been charged for that too. We were surprised that the mango lassi was charged at €5.50 instead of €1.90. I can't see how the waitress could have got it wrong, I mean I also ordered a starter from the lunch menu too. When I complained the waitress that was processing the bill just said sorry the other waitress got it wrong. I half expected her to correct the bill but not at all. I was looking forward to my impromptu lunch there but I left feeling dissatisfied and somehow that they didn't give two hoots about their billing mistake. Maybe the other reviews were from the opening stages of this restaurant or when they had good staff in but personally my experience didn't make me want to go again. Which was sad because when I walked I. I thought oh this would be cool for a lunch date later in the week. I'm really stumped at the reviews of it being the best sushi because I can tell you it's far from it. Perhaps I should try it again in the evening someday and update my review. Guys if you want sushi in Berlin there are so many better places then here and at prices to fit every pocket.

Went back there the last night in Berlin, as promised. The chicken sate starter was perfectly seasoned with a little twist to set it apart. Sushi as usual did not disappoint. However, the BBQ pork dish did. The pork itself was on the dry side and, as well as the noodles, just useless ballast. At least the salad seasoning was masterful. The sweet banana desert and ZEN ice tea rounded off another excellent dinner experience.

Really fantastic food. Beautiful presentation and over the top flavor. Seating outside was very comfortable. Extremely friendly staff. Prices were great.

This restaurant is held by Vietnamese so that you will never have a chance to taste any authentic Japanese foods. So disappointed that this place is rated like 4.5. It deserves a 3 but I just want to balance the rating so

Been wanting to check out this place for quite some time...finally we went! Don't know why we waited so long. If you go there the first time you need to search for it a little, since it's in some kind of "backyard". But when you get there You'll have a good time. ;) Fast and good service, fair prices, very nice inside seating, a lot of outside seating (also fairly nice). The sushi isn't outstanding, but good. Loved their summer rolls.

Amazing sushi and special recommendation for the number 86 that was awesome ! Nice service and place too, we went twice while staying for a long weekend in Berlin !
