Google
14 course experience was a once in a lifetime culinary extravaganza. Hedy greeted us and was wonderful the entire time. Oliver our sushi chef was a wealth of knowledge sharing valuable insights into every course he prepped and served. He checked in appropriately on us to make sure everything was delicious. Deep see snapper was my favorite! You must visit Zen Sushi Omakase and if you are lucky you will be seated to be served by Oliver. See you soon Dan

Google
The fish here is exceptional. You can tell the chefs come from strong pedigree. The scallops were probably my favorite, but everything was well-prepared. They give you enough time, the sake selection is excellent, the price is fair, and the rice is exceptional. Nothing stood out as bad. I got the eel and foie gras add-on, and that was incredible too. You’ve gotta go.

Google
Great priced omakase (14 pieces for $89) with options to get special add ons such as Kumamoto oyster with uni, ikura etc. Super fresh sushi with clever sauces and toppings. Very friendly staff and chef made for a relaxed and pleasant dinner. We will be back!

Google
Tiny spot with a huge presence ! Incredibly fresh fish, fantastic omakase, one bite after the other was succulent. specials on point too (had the Tuna caviar) went for lunch and couldn’t get enough of the deliciousness. Service was excellent, will be back

Google
Great value for the omakase course itself. High-quality ingredients and good sake selection. However, what got us surprised was the price for the additional small uni pieces that was around 25$ each. In total, we loved it but with extra pieces it turned out to be way pricier.

Google
I was very impressed with this omakase. The chef was very knowledgeable and personable. Most places torch so many pieces which ruin the experience of the taste of each fish. Here, they do not do that at all. If anything is torched, it is so lightly and done with purpose. I really enjoyed that their pieces were not overpowered by so many additional toppings and instead had more simplistic complimentary additives to enhance the piece of fish you were eating. Would definitely go back here! Really happy I found this gem

Google
Visitied for my mom's birthday. Made a reservation but somehow didn't go through their system but the host was able to help us out and get a spot for us. However def recommmend to make reservation and double check if you get a confirmation email. The food was absolutely stunning. The place itself is cozy not spatious but enough to have romantic vibe. Every bite me and mom had was melting and was astonishing. The amount of rice was perfect enough to be fill our stomach but also right amount to feel and taste the sushi itself. Personally I think this is very important in omakase. $89 but it would be hard for you to not order an additional piece since it melts. I would definitely coming back. Also our server gave the ume drink on the house and one special bite of sushi for my mom's birthday. Highly recommend!!

Google
We visited this omakase spot for my birthday and had a great experience. It was a 13-course menu with high-quality ingredients and clean, flavorful pieces. Most of the dishes were simple in presentation but packed with flavor. My favorites were the scallops and the toro-caviar-unagi combination — absolutely delicious. This omakase is definitely on the pricier side.

Yelp
The fish here was spectacular! This place did a good job with seasonings and sauces on each dish--they complemented the fish well but did not overpower. There was not one dish we didn't like! The only thing that was rather disappointing was the ambiance. We read about people's fun omakase experiences where they got to chat with the staff, learn about the sushi, and engage with everyone else around them, but our sushi chef did not talk with us very much and only half the bar was filled when we went. It was pretty quiet inside and we could barely hear him when he was telling us what dish he was serving us. I would go again for the meal but would probably try someplace else for another experience.

Yelp
15 course omakase is very modestly priced for the quality you get. I've had a lot of omakases recently so this didn't stick out much but the staff is what made this experience unique. Atmosphere is intimate as there's limited counter space.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. It's a small hole in the wall type of place with limited seating so make sure to get a res! We enjoyed sitting at the bar but they have table options too. Extremely fresh and high quality ingredients makes this a great spot for omakase lovers. This is one of those places where you get there on time and everyone receives the same menu at the same time. The menu changes every week or so. It's also not too terribly expensive for what you get. The chef was very friendly and kind, as well as the staff. We really appreciated the hospitality and food presentation. One of my favorite pieces was the first one which had truffle. The aroma of truffle circulating the room made be very excited to try this one before I even saw it. There was a variety of fish, seafood, and it ended with a steak bite. Very lovely experience with a fantastic menu!

Yelp
For $140pp, my friends and I booked a 14 course omakase at Zen Sushi, with all you can drink sake and the entire space to ourselves. The 14 course menu featured a variety of items, many of which I felt were very unique for omakase. For example, they started us off with this delicious yellowtail dish, featuring a couple pieces of sashimi paired with a delicious sauce. Another was the frog muscle?? Some of my other favorites were the wagyu uni caviar piece, toro + truffle piece, and the kingfish piece. The chefs were super patient with us and even let us play our own music. They were super accommodating with any dietary restrictions we had among our group. In the end, they even brought us free mochi ice cream! Overall, this was such an amazing omakase experience - probably the best I've had in the city!

Yelp
What a fantastic omakase spot. I went with my friend and we loved every single piece of the omakase. We order the extra piece at the end and we got the uni oyster and it was so fresh and delicious. Service was great and friendly and ambiance was super chill and laid back.

Yelp
3.5 food. Friendly service for lunch. Chef was engaging and sweet. Fast omakase wise not my favorite spot due to the fact that first two courses were sashimi and one course was cooked cod over rice. I'm typically trying to get as many pieces of nigiri as I can so 11 small-ish side pieces made me feel wanting more. $89 is a decent price range and flavor was good with nice pairing of various salt and other flavor enhancements. Favorite piece was Hokkaido uni.

Yelp
It's very amazing sushi omakasa restaurant! I love it . Everything is so delicious . The sushi chef was funny service was great too. The restaurant very nice and clean and you can walk in they promotion special prices
google avatar

Yelp
Another new omakase spot and they opened up in the lower east side. The set came with two appetizers, 11 nigiris, and 1 handrail. Some of my favorite pieces includes the shrimp which was super creamy, the toast which had many different layers of flavor, blue fin tuna and chutoro. Overall, really great new addition to the neighborhood. .

Yelp
Great food, nice ambiance, efficient and friendly service. I would definitely recommend and return for a wonderful omakase meal. 10/10

Yelp
Went for lunch today. 14 tastings for $89 was a deal. The quality of the fish was excellent. The service was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with the sushi chef about his different preparations. Mostly nigiri which we loved. I would definitely go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Very affordable omakase in NYC. The space was little small but perfect for omakase (only has omakase sitting). The chefs were very friendly too. The sushi quality was great but the portion wall little small for me. But they use very fresh uni, caviar, wagyu, and more. Great place for date night or with friend!

Yelp
Truly a warm and amazing experience with a 14 course omakase priced so well! The countertop seats about 10, so your seating is not diluted by there being too many diners for the chefs to provide an excellent service to. Chef Jason was very personable and I appreciate his providing background and descriptions of each course. Select pieces also had freshly grated wasabi which is a feat in itself, and luckily for us was in season. (95% of wasabi is generally just horseradish). We started off with little handtowels (think of the little circles of cloth from the movie Spy with Melissa McCarthy) and complimentary sake since it was their grand opening week! We then had a Kumamoto oyster with ikura and miso black cod with shishito pepper. I especially loved the miso black cod - it literally melts in your mouth. The next 12 courses were all extremely tender and fresh, and my absolute favorite was the hay smoked sawara (Spanish mackerel). It's just such a unique flavor with the smokiness, and again so tender. The runner ups included TWO courses with uni (Maine and Hokkaido), and A5 wagyu, and a black truffle toro with gold flakes! The scallop and Japanese sea bream with yuzu zest were also so mouth watering. We happened to have a birthday amongst the other diners and it's really quite sweet to have a little birthday wish in an intimate space thats dimly lit but well enough to see the birthday candle. Congratulations to the team here at Zen Sushi Omakase - I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Really fun spot, great service, good sushi, very fairly priced. Came on a Sunday evening and had a lovely dinner. Would definitely come back soon. The waitress helped me out on my date and said we looked good together

Taylor B.

Yelp
My brother and I decided to celebrate our birthdays at Zen Sushi Omakase this weekend and we were not disappointed! The fish was incredibly fresh and we enjoyed every course. It was hard to choose a favorite! I added on the oyster with uni and ikura and it was my favorite oyster I've ever had. The atmosphere was great. This is a small restaurant with limited seating so you get to interact with the chefs and the servers pay close attention to you. The courses were timed perfectly and I never felt overwhelmed or like I had to eat faster. At the end they asked if there was anything additional we'd like to try or a course we had that we'd like an additional serving of. As I mentioned, we were celebrating birthdays and we were surprised by fun lighting, a song, and an additional course! It was the best happy birthday a restaurant has given either of us! We will be back.

Yelp
Zen is an excellent entry level omakase experience. Newly opened with a fresh ambiance, this small spot was a great find. Good value from money, and very attentive and engaging service from Chef Jason. I recommend this spot to Omakase junkies and casual diners alike.

Yelp
enjoyed the service, vibe, and food. Will definitely be back . This is one of my new favorite omakase spots in the city. Not a single piece of fish was chewy. Every piece was so fresh. Love how they start with the less fatter pieces and work their way up. The experience got better and better with every piece. You can tell it was well thought out. It was one of my friends first time having omakase and he fell in love with zen sushi omakase.

Yelp
Incredible omakase experience! This newly opened omakase spot on the LES is an absolute GEM. At only 89pp, you get 14 delectable pieces of fresh, unique and delicious sushi. The chefs are absolutely talented. Our chef previously worked at Michelin starred Sushi Nakazawa, so you bet the skills are gonna be top notch. The hospitality was also amazing, I felt like I was hanging out with friends, and taking sake shots together. I can't wait to come back again. This is a MUST try spot for omakase!!!
google avatar

Windy T.

Yelp
Food and service always top notch! We have eaten here many times and have never had a bad experience eating any of their menu items!

Bria S.

Yelp
We celebrated our anniversary here and we were blown away! The interior is casual & intimate but the entire staff is welcoming and accommodating. The host and chefs were so attentive and friendly. It's a 14 course setting and everything was immaculate. The quality of the sushi was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend giving this place a try.
google avatar

Sherry L.

Yelp
One of my favorite omakase spot on the lower east side! Super sweet staff and the atmosphere was amazing. Their fatty toro was spectacular. Every sushi piece was amazing!
google avatar

Kenney S.

Yelp
The chef was engaging, making sure that each piece was to our liking, This made for a relaxing ambiance! The fish was fresh and the rice was well-seasoned but the rice was a bit on the smaller side. Overall, a worthy, "affordable" visit.

Yelp
I had a great evening at Zen Sushi Omakase, a new sushi spot at the LES. They provide an Omakase special for $89 to celebrate its opening. The sushi was very fresh, the young team created a vibrant environment with a great vibe and service. Totally enjoyable

Yelp

Plamena A.

Yelp
The food was amazing!!! The waiter Jimmy gave us good advice on what sushi rolls to order

Hedy S.

Yelp
I usually do not write reviews but this has got to be the best omakase place I have ever been to. Such a great deal too! Would recommend to everyone and will definitely come back!

Ellen V.

Yelp
We were warmly welcomed and all of our dietary requests were accommodated. The presentation was beautiful and the food was honestly delicious. Very much enjoyed.

Magdalena B.

Yelp
I don't write reviews but this place is worth writing about. It's probably one of the top 3 best food experiences of my life and I've traveled the world. Chef Jeff- you are amazing and so is your entire staff. The quality of fish is incredible. And the staff - can't say enough about the attention to detail and the incredible hospitality we received.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Sushi was good however not a great value. Left hungry and ended up getting a slice after.

Arlene Y.

Yelp
This newly opened spot in the LES is serving a 14 course omakase for $89. The decor is sleek and minimalist because the star of the show is the fish. They import high-quality fishes from Japan Toyosu Market, Fukuoka fish market, and more. Chef Jason and chef Jeff have previously worked at Nakazawa and Nobu. You can definitely taste the quality and freshness of the fish. Every piece was buttery and each had a unique topping and fun twist. Every piece was great but some standouts are the: Ebi with shaved eggs-normally ebi isn't my favorite but this was great and I loved the shaved egg. Smoked mackerel-again usually not my favorite but this was really good! Otoro with shaved truffle - look at that torching action! Love the smokiness of the Otoro with the truffle. Uni-(from Maine)It's uni season in Maine from December -March so it's super fresh. I almost thought it was Hokkaido uni. seared wagyu with uni, caviar, gold leaf, and truffle salt- My personal favorite. So decadent and luxurious.

Andy X.

Yelp
Loved zen sushi a lot!!!! Been there few times. They change menu almost every season! The most course i loved is the miso cod! In a little cute dish!!!

Nicole K.

Yelp
Wanted to love. The service was amazing. Vibes were great. But both my husband and I got terrible food poisoning following our visit.

治衡

Yelp
Very reasonably priced Omakase, quality food sliced & decored right in front of us. Great season now for the baby squid! Three different types of tasty uni available. We visited at a not-so-busy hour of weekday 5pm, and the waitress even asked for our music request so they can play to our liking... Great experience overall!

Maria E. N.

Yelp
Quality and service is 20 stars!!!!! I live in New York and this is my favorite omakase place.

Lindsay W.

Yelp
