Zenna has been my go-to spot for Thai food for a long time, mainly because of how good their Spicy Basil Rice and Panang Curry are. I’m a regular customer and would’ve easily given them a 5-star rating based on taste alone.
However, over the past few months, I’ve noticed a consistent drop in the quantity of Spicy Basil Rice in takeout orders. Until last year, the box used to be completely filled. Recently, the portion has been noticeably less compared to what it used to be.
I called the restaurant to check if this was a one-time mistake and was connected to the manager. I politely explained that I’m a regular customer and asked if something had changed. I was told that the rice is always measured using the same bowl before being packed. While I understand that explanation, there was no acknowledgment of the concern, nor any willingness to verify it (for example, asking me to revisit or share a photo).
Paying around $15 for that quantity doesn’t feel worth it, especially for a place where the dine-in atmosphere and interiors are fairly average. When it comes to takeout, value matters. Price, taste, quantity, and service should balance out. Zenna still delivers on taste, but unfortunately, service and portion consistency have taken a hit recently.
Posting this here so other regular customers are aware.
