"If salads could talk, this beef tomato number from Zephyr, a sunny Greek restaurant on Portobello Road, would be saying something like “book the flight” or “you deserve a holiday”. To be honest, even without a supernatural ability, this refreshing, citrussy bowl of chunky tomatoes in a zingy olive oil and lemon salad dressing gets us in our holiday feels. In a heated round of word association, this bowl and summer would be the perfect pair. That’s not to say it should strictly be eaten in the warmer months. We’ve found it to be a nice escape for those colder days, when the bulb in your SAD lamp needs changing, and you’re always one sincere “how are you?” away from tears. If you’re into salads, get it. "A meal at Zephyr isn’t just about fried calamari and lemon oil-heavy sea bass carpaccio. It’s about a collective refusal to accept that it’s raining outside. This Greek-inspired restaurant in Notting Hill has a cheerful dining room, a late-night drinking den downstairs, and dishes with a hint of punchy South American flavours—cc the whole grilled sea bass with spicy amarillo butter. "The things this Greek-inspired restaurant (from the Pachamama group) does with vegetables is impressive. There's a tomato salad with a refreshing citrusy dressing that made us seriously consider slurping it from the bowl, and creamy tzatziki that’ll coerce you into ordering one, then two, more pitta baskets. Plus the front window that opens up on to Portobello Road, the bright artwork on the walls, and the basket of pineapples at the bar all make you feel like you’re far away from Notting Hill. There’s a real holiday feel to the place and the cosy bar downstairs is just the cherry on top—and the reason it's an ideal spot to bring anyone from a first date to your parents for a whole wild sea bass to distract them from the fact their holiday to Santorini got cancelled." - rianne shlebak
