Houston’s 12 Best Bubble Tea Shops | Eater Houston

"Over-the-top drinks are the name of the game at this chain, known for its spicy watermelon smoothies, ube milkshakes garnished with rainbow candy and toasted marshmallow, and “tiger sugar” milk teas. Add a scoop of honey boba or coconut-lychee jelly for the perfect mix of chilly and chewy." - Amy McCarthy

My girlfriend wanted to try the place. We came and ordered two drinks ( lemonade with boba and strawberry flavored) then we ordered chicken wings (6 piece buffalo) and chicken tenders (lemon pepper) with Cheeto and cheese fries. The total was $39.51. Honestly, the place isn’t bad but it’s definitely below average especially for the price. The wings hardly had any flavor. The fries were not as tasty or good as it seemed on the menu. They were flavorless and I couldn’t even taste the Cheeto powder. The drinks were okay. The lemonade was good but I wasn’t too big on the strawberry. It tasted weird to me (or maybe that’s just how they make it). The price is still wild to me. I feel like I could have purchased better quality food and drinks elsewhere for $39.

Google
We were excited but left disappointed. The food was fresh and hot but tasteless. Plain old chicken tenders and the garlic fries were not garlic. We got a Pink Lychee and it didn't look like the menu picture and was more sour than sweet. Disappointed.

Christopher Charles

Google
Love the food and drinks from here! The Mangonada and milkshakes are great. They have Boba if u are into that. The popcorn chicken is delicious. The wings are tasty. And the Hot Cheeto Elote is one of my favs. Great family place with fun food.

Google
My first time visiting here, it was tricky to find the location. The carne Asada fries were so good 10/10 I would get them again. The drinks were a lychee lemonade which was a 8/10 just because I couldn’t really taste the lychee flavor in it, the other drink was a piña colada with boba 10/10. Service was quick!

Frances Echavarry

Google
"Stopped by Zero Degrees with friends and loved it! The teas with boba were delicious and refreshing. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely a spot we’ll visit again!"

Google
Customer Sevice Wasn't Great. Yes, We Went About 15 Minutes Before They Closed But The Young Guy That Waited On Us Seem To Be Bothered That We Were There. We Asked If They Do Military Discount. He Gave A Straight "NO". We Asked If We Could Get One Of The Small Cups To Have, So We Could Pour Some Of The 2 Drinks We Bought In One For Our 3 Year Old, And Again Straight "NO". The Zero Degrees In Humble Customer Service Was Way Better.

Nicoya Edwards

Google
Disappointed and unsatisfactory service and quality of taste. I ordered two drinks (Camo Matcha and Ube) from the Signature drink list for my kids. I’ve had both drinks before many times at another location so I was expecting it would be the same taste as always. The drinks were super thick, lacked flavor and very little brûlée (cream ingredient) was added. When my daughter politely asked if her drink could be fixed by adding more cream or something to loosen up the consistency the server’s response was “there’s nothing I can do”. I find that unacceptable. We left peacefully and won’t be coming back. I wouldn’t recommend this location. Service matters just as much or maybe even more than the product being served. Very disappointed.

Google
Seen this place as it was being built in all these dental and health related strip center. Thought it was kind of odd but hey it works! Tried it out and got some drinks. Went on Saturday that was its official open weekend and had specials. Clean , and nice place. Packed parking lot and long lines, so it must be good. pretty neat place and concept. Large menu of items. Very surprised at the way it was ran, smooth and made sense. There was not a long wait at all. Figured so many people there would been a long wait but wow, service was good, they prepared adequately for the flux of customers. Will be back for more drinks and food. The food were large portions as well and looked good and smelled good. Outside and inside seating areas. the inside was small but works. Parking is plenty as well and easy to access. This beats out subzero at the boardwalk in cypress hands down in my books for desserts in service/costs and parking etc. Must try this place!

Yelp
Easy to get to with parking in front and side. I miss having this back home. So it was a delicious treat. Would definitely be back.

Yelp
Went out of our way to go to this place because we wanted to try multiple drinks in a split cup and that sets them apart from most tea houses in cypress. Turns out they don't offer split cup option anymore... womp womp. All of their menus have a free milk tea promo when you check-in on yelp, however do not honor the "Free Milk Tea Check in" promotion even though it's on all their menus. The overall ambiance of this location was, I hate to say it, but just super dirty. Sticky grimy tables, dirty windows, trash, etc all look like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. After we ordered it made me wonder what the kitchen looked like if the dining area looked this gross. The only other time I have been to Zero degrees I remember the drink being CRAZY sweet, so I asked if there was a way to get it less sweet, but all drinks are pre-made and already heavily sweetened so it can't be adjusted. Of all three drinks, none of us were able to finish our drinks because they were so sweet. We ordered popcorn chicken combo and it was delish! I'd definitely order it again!

Kimberly C.

Yelp
The food was good! The watermelon slush was good! Quiet and clean. Price to fit a budget. Thumbs down for the advertisement on the menu. States a free milk tea upon checkin however they refused to honor what THEY had posted. A little disappointed still brought a Jasmine milk tea to go, no sweetness more like lotion/perfume in the mouth, it's strong.

Yelp
We love to get either the pineapple refresher or strawberry lemonade. Side note-fries are yummy!
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Yum!!!! This was my family's first time eating at zero degrees and they love it. We ordered the pop corn chicken combo(garlic and honey brbq) and they all loved it. We got the split drink (lychee & fruit tea) as well as the strawberry horchata and strawberry cheesecake and were very pleased. My only complaint is that you can't adjust the sugar level.
google avatar

Kara L.

Yelp
Service is incredibly slow. When asked about a shake ordered 20 minutes earlier, the employees response was "I'm kind of busy, it's coming" Customer lost.

Kiara L.

Yelp
If you're interested in trying something new and different this would definitely be the place. They have a variety of different items you wouldn't find at your typical restaurant. Just went on Wednesday and ordered honey Sriracha wings as well as a ube horchata and fried dumplings. The food is typically good but was a miss for me this time. Would definitely still recommend to try.

Eman S.

Yelp
I am new to Texas and have been looking for a nice Boba place. I came across this wonderful gem on my way home. Unfortunately it's a little hidden but it's on the corner of Cypress N. Houston Rd. and Barker Cypress Road. They have great options, great atmosphere, and if you're feeling a little hungry, we have a great appetizers and small meals. Would make a nice study area as well because they offer a Wi-Fi.
google avatar

Arsal B.

Yelp
Personally I love the food here it's one of the best places I can go to. And I would highly recommend the restaurant if you're in the mood for good food and drinks.

Taylor L.

Yelp
Worst drink Carrier ever! They use cheap and flimsy cups that spilled all over my car. We ordered 3 drinks to go, by the time we got to the car the drink carrier they put all the drinks on spilled all over my car. I'm so mad! My son had plastic Saran Wrap on his Ube milkshake!! Why are they using such cheap stuff? Please use quality products for your customers!!!
google avatar

Selena R.

Yelp
Had the strawberry horchata drink with boba and it was amazing. Can't say the same about their fries though. They're overpriced for the below mediocre quality. Most of these fries were hollow. Little to no actual potato inside.... literally. They might have been overcooked or reheated, not sure, but won't be ordering food again. My friend ordered the garlic butter salt fries and I ordered the Cajun flavor. Both were terrible.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Went out of my way to come here because local coffee shop was closed. First time here and unfortunately the drink was overly sweet, had a 20 minute wait for a single drink, employee was unfriendly, restaurant feels like the AC doesn't work, and I regret giving a tip. Disappointed completely.
google avatar

Kortney C.

Yelp
Great for a quick treat! I've tried the Oreo drink & it was so yummy. My boyfriend & I will go back soon to try their wings.
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
This place is a hit or miss. Their hours are not what they have listed. I feel like they close whenever they want and open whenever they want. Which for a franchise, I'm surprised corporate allows this. Drinks here are inconsistent. I personally only get their matchata or coffee horchata, as their tea drinks aren't great. I do like their popcorn chicken best, and come here specifically to eat that. I just don't like their service and whoever is deciding to close whenever.

Yelp
ZERO DEGREES CYPRESS IS OPEN! The only reason I'm happy about this is because I work 5 minutes away. I decided to come and grab my favorite drink from here after lunch with a few coworkers. I usually always get their Hot Cheeto elotes or hot Cheeto cheese fries. But on this day, I just wanted something refreshing for this hot summer heat. My go to drink is the Pink Lychee. It's a lychee slush with chunks of strawberry cut in the shape of hearts, HOW CUUUUUTE!!!!! I always get this with boba. I ordered my drink, and it took SO long for it to come out. The place wasn't even too packed, but we ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes for 3 drinks. It was a Tuesday afternoon during work hours so idk what the hold up was. Anyways we got our drinks, and mine was amazing per usual. Would def recommend!!!
google avatar

My T.

Yelp
We came here at 9:30 PM and the kitchen was already closed. There was no mango twist for Mangonada and the Tiger Sugar Milk was out, either. So dissapointed Updated: Came back here again on July 3rd at 9:00 PM. This is the hardest boba I have ever tried in my life. It has probably cooked in the syrup for couple days.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
My kids and I love the Boba Drinks here!!! So tasty and very large cups! My kids favorite is the "Cookie Monster", delicious!
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
A little disappointed that for an almost $5 drink, they have included tea leaves and stem inside my jasmine milk tea... I did not enjoy these bits inside my mouth. It was literally me taking sips and spitting out the tea leaves. How delightful... Zero Degrees, Please filter out your tea before serving and selling to customers.... I was truly unhappy about this.
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed a quick delicious drink and snack here. We ordered two drinks with honey boba and sea cream. The matcha green tea is great with the sea cream and honey boba. The lychee tea is very sweet and refreshing. We also munched on some really great snacks. The lemon pepper wings were fresh out of the fryer and were very well seasoned. We also got a side of Hot Cheeto fries and they were delicious! Would definitely come back and try more on the menu!
google avatar

Lily N.

Yelp
I've been here a lot in the past because my school was nearby. They had an amazing lunch special deal so you know, win win situation right there. I haven't been here lately til today and I'll have the same their foods are a little different now. It's not as good as they were before. The place walking in, it's very tight with a lot of sitting area inside and outside. I see that they offer a few more new drinks which is awesome because the drinks they had before wasn't really my favorite. Hopefully they can stock up on the sweet and sour sauce because that makes their popcorn chicken more delicious.

Lexi K.

Yelp
I tried the carne asada fries and would not get again.Didn't have flavor and idk what it was maybe the green salsa they put on top but it made everything smell like cigarette smoke and it just didn't taste good.

Yelp
I was looking for a dessert place around the area, specifically ice cream and Zero Degrees popped up. Technically, it's not ice cream, but they do have a shaved ice milk shake type dessert which satisfied my ice cream craving. I got to try the thai tea shake and the cookies and cream and I definitely liked the cookies and cream much better. I really liked the cookies and cream because in a normal cookies and cream shake, it can be pretty sweet, but having the icy factor in this drink helped to mellow it out and make it much more enjoyable. The thai tea one needed to be mixed together more, but I definitely would pick the cookies and cream again. I also appreciate the amount that you get. One drink is more than enough to share between 2 people. It was actually too much for 2 people to finish! One of my biggest issue with this place was that it was pretty hard to find because based on the direction you're coming from, you couldn't see the sign since it was on the corner and you can only see it from one direction. I think if I drove by it more often and knew that it was there, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but we passed it up and had to u-turn around before we saw it. The sign on the shopping strip is also on the side, so I totally missed it when I was looking for it.

Yelp
We have come here countless time and we are never disappointed. My favorite is their tiger sugar milk but anything I've tried so far has been great. Another favorite of mine is their chicken and corn. Oh! And the mangonada.10/10!! The restaurant is always clean and everyone I've interacted with has been so friendly and kind. We love coming here!

Khiêmnhu K.

Yelp
This rating is for their popcorn chicken. It's not the typical popcorn chicken you'd get at other boba drink restaurants. #iykyk Theirs is more like eating boneless wings, bite size. It's disappointing. Just not good unfortunately. I'm also pretty sure when they first opened, their popcorn chicken wasn't like this.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Everything looked so good and I was really excited to try it but I was kinda disappointed. For a $7 drink, definitely not worth it. I got the Thai Tea Camo with boba. The boba was really hard, and the texture of the drink was not that great. Super icy and didn't blend well with the tea. I also got the chicken. I liked the flavor of it but it was honestly really dry.
google avatar

Danielle W.

Yelp
The atmosphere was calm and cute with little anime characters. My son loved the strawberry and lychee slushy while I got the horchata coffee, it was pretty good. As far as the food went, it was less then satisfactory for the price. I got the shrimp with fries which cost 15 dollars. The shrimp was dry and fried with no breading. Not a lot of flavor, it if it wasn't for the spicy mayo I wouldn't have eaten it at all. The fries were seasoned well but for the price point I expected a lot more. If your going for drinks then I'd stop by but save your money and eat at one of the other places nearby.
google avatar

Alexandra V.

Yelp
To the young lady working today. Do you not know the difference between a strawberry slushie and strawberry smoothie? My sister went to get me strawberry slushie and you messed up the order giving her a smoothie with whip cream ontop. When she informed you that it was wrong you were rude to her and said it's the same thing. No it is not! If you don't know how to do your job then dont work there. She had told her numerous times it was wrong and you still didn't even fix it. And you also charged her for a strawberry cheesecake.
google avatar

Metztli R.

Yelp
Zero degrees has inside and outdoor seating. Nice spot for relaxing and grabbing a snack. The fajita nacho fries were real good and come in a portion large enough to share. The drinks were great too!
google avatar

Viviann P.

Yelp
Lame as heck cus it was expensive af and the popcorn chicken had no flavor. didnt even get a drink because it was like $6 for regular milk tea.
google avatar

Arlene G.

Yelp
I love my daughter, she loves their camouflage drinks, but I simply should not give this place my business any longer. They hire people who lack any customer service skills. I ordered a split cup drink online. Apparently they were out of split cup drinks so a worker reached out to me to see if I wanted a "single" less expensive drink to replace it. She tells me it should not be a big price difference when I inquire about a refund. I do not care! If I wanted a single up I would have ordered one. There is an up charge for split cup, why shouldn't I be refunded that if you cannot provide it. Get to the store to pick it up and she is even ruder in person. She is using a calculator and scoffing at me because I want my one dollar back.
google avatar

Lucy L.

Yelp
I love the drinks. They are great to drink when..... 24/7 and 365 days. Sometimes its a bit off, missing choice of add-on or too much or little this or that, but its not a big deal. I mess up my spaghetti often too, so i get it :) My favorite is the mango smoothies with spicy salt, and the split cup, cuz, it saves us 57 minutes deciding what is my best. I was unhappy one time because I ordered to pick up. I drove there. Waited. Then got a text that the order was canceled.... hmmm... butt dial on the computer?? IDK. But then i ordered again and waited again. The nice girl serving was nice, but she could not understand me well for some reason. And I promise I can Professional explain programming, don't judge me hahaha So, well yeah, go and enjoy! P/S: pictures coming....
google avatar

Anh L.

Yelp
Dropped by here before heading out to the outlet mall. I got my usual PEACH BLOSSOM, which is made with peach lime green tea with fresh fruit pieces and chia seeds. I added some CRYSTAL BOBA for texture. It complements the texture of the fresh pieces of fruits in the drink. Overall it was a very refreshing drink, not overly sweet and very fruity with light hints of tea flavors. This is my go to drink here so I'm sure I'll order this again. Drinks were made quickly and the line moved smoothly. I'll be back.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
We ordered salt & pepper chicken , hot Cheetos elotes and Ube milkshake. That chicken WAS NOT Chicken! I don't know what it was but don't eat it! The hot Cheetos elotes was good. The Ube milkshake was pretty but that's all it was. Everything Is OVERPRICED! Won't go back!
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
I came on grand opening day, they had a bogo deal (buy one, get one free) on certain drinks. I got the classic milk tea (ok, but not that good), strawberry horchata (pretty good, but tastes like cereal milk lol), peach blossom (taste good), and a matcha milk tea (not good, too bland and didn't taste like matcha). I also got the crispy wings combo which came with cajun fries, celery, carrots and a drink so I thought that was a pretty good deal. I got the sriracha honey butter wings and it came out hot and crispy. It had about 6 big pieces of wings and I thought it tasted quite good but my husband didn't like it. It also smells like fish sauce for some reason. The fries were really thin and crispy, tasted very good as well. The place was packed but the line to order moved fast and I also received my drinks fast too. I asked to adjust the sugar level on all 4 drinks but they told me they couldn't because it had already been pre-made in the morning. I asked if this was how they usually do it and they said yes, so it wasn't jus for grand opening but they pre-make their drinks so I'm gonna have to give them 3/5 cuz the drinks are wayyy too sweet and hello it's 2018, every boba store offers sugar adjustment so get with the program please lol

Yelp
Hello Yelpers! I'm so delighted that all these fancy drinks is finally opening in my area! This is an Asian-Hispanic fusion chain focused on their drinks and snacks. There is plenty of parking here. This shopping center is brand new and just opened a couple of weeks ago. I am addicted to their house special coffee (Vietnamese coffee) that's topped with sea salt foam. My fiancé got the soft serve vanilla ice cream swirled with mango and topped with freshly cut strawberries. He had it the first time with the Mexican seasoning and wasn't too crazy about it as he mentioned it took away the other tastes. He got it without it and is hooked now. Customer service was great! We had no problems. Our cashier was smiling and helped us out with our orders. Since we came from a heavy dinner, we couldn't try any of their snacks but we will definitely give it a try next time. To be continued.....
google avatar

Jasmine N.

Yelp
I'm always at this zero degrees. I love the staff. I like how friendly they are! Amber is especially my favorite staff member. She's always attentive and she's very nice. The food is amazing. The chicken wings have tons of nice flavors and the fries are just super addicting to eat!

Yelp
Finally a good boba place closer to home! Zero Degrees is very popular at their other locations, but I had never had the chance to check them out until they opened up within 5 miles of my house. I have been here a few times, but I always order the same thing: Peach Blossom Tea with boba. It is a peach citrus green tea with bits of I think mango and lime or lemon with chia seeds. It is very refreshing and I love the different textures from the fresh fruit, chia seeds, and the boba. They have a corner lot so there is a nice outdoor patio, which I have seen customers bring their fur babies so I think their patio is dog friendly. The reason why I give four stars instead of five is because they did not give the option of ordering your preference of sweetness levels. A lot of tapioca places are offering this now, so I was surprised when they told me they don't do that. Also, they only have one cup size. Something pretty cool about this place is they offer split cups so if you want to share or can't decide between drinks, you can order the split cup for a little extra change and get the best of both worlds. Also, I heard their food is pretty good, so I'll have to check it out next time!

Yelp
Went on Saturday evening and wow they were busy. I don't even think busy is the word for it; more like slammed. While we were in line at least 20 people came in! And by the looks of the inside it had been that way for a while. The floor had a lot trash on it and all the tables were dirty. They need more trash cans in the dining area and on the patio. There was around 8 people in front of us. Placing our order went pretty fast. The wait time was not to bad. They had a lot of employees working so that helped. I ordered the Cookie Monster. It was one of the better cookie flavored drinks I have had. Not to sweet. I will get it again. I wish they had orange or apple flavor. Not so many strawberry flavor drinks. Not everyone can have strawberries! The decor was cute, but I think the place is to small for the amount of customers they have coming and going. The patio is super cute and when fall comes it will be great!

Yelp
Manganada weird taste...be wary Poured most down the drain...taste funky...super sour ...sweet ? Spicy ? ...salty...I could not taste the mango much....left a strong aftertaste of salt water all slushed together...at home could make better tasting than ...is okay service...but this drink meh meh...guess might be flavorful for others...not for me... perhaps this drink should not come with the red flaky stuff...
google avatar

Sonia B.

Yelp
I've been to Zero Degrees a few times and I will definitely go back. I am not giving it 5 stars because they don't have high chairs (considering a lot of kids go there) and I wasn't crazy about their wings. It's super packed and loud each time I visit but that's understandable since it's new. The mangonada is really good and the mangos are fresh. My son gets the Oreo drink and he loves it. Their teas are good also, I recommend the lychee tea. Staff is friendly.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Any flaming hot Cheetos fans out there? I literally am obsessed and will put them on anything and everything. This Mac n Cheetos was absolute perfection! I love you for making this amazing concoction. I also had a watermelon slush. It legit tastes like drinking fresh watermelon. So good and so refreshing.

Da D.

Yelp
Very bad service and foods never cooked the same way... really don't understand if they don't know their menu or they just don't care what customers ordered. I ordered hot spicy popcorn chicken extra seasoning as normal but what I got just plain chicken, there isn't a bit of spice or seasoning. I told them it doesn't have anything on it, how is it spicy? but they said it is spicy and it is how their spicy chicken looks like. I'm just speechless! Never ever go back there again. What a poor service and food !
google avatar

Annie G.

Yelp
Stopped by for a picking up a snack. Got the classic elote & garlic fries combo. Tasty but garlic fries needed a bit more garlic. Would like to dry thier drinks next time. Place is very neat, nice hangout spot.
google avatar

Adrian S.

Yelp
Giving 5 stars because the food we ordered was great, but the wait time was extremely long although we did go on a Saturday night so I guess it's to be expected. We ordered the flaming hot Cheetoh elote and it was a nice experience for having never tried one before it was something I'd go back to try again and wait for. Don't underestimate the size of that elote as well, 1 definitely has potential to feed 2 people.

Yelp
I enjoy stopping in for my favorite cool drink full of flavor during a hot day in Texas! Mangoadas and many delicious snacks! Polite customer service is also very important to the perfect small business.

Hunter K.

Yelp
ABSOLUTE GARBAGE service. Ordered online, been waiting 45 minutes. People who ordered when I got here already got their food and left. Will never come here again. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
google avatar

Kristina D.

Yelp
We ordered the hot chetto fries with a strawberry mojito and a popcorn chicken with strawberry lime-anade. The drinks were great, but in the other hand... the food wasn't't as good. We heard our number being called so we went in line expecting to pick up our food, and drinks together. But instead they only called one of drinks. Us along with a few other people were left crowding around the pick-up counter, waiting for our food to come out. It would be nice if they called the food and drinks at once instead of having a bunch of people crowding around the corner waiting for the rest of their order When the food arrived we were quite disappointed with the food. The hot Chetto fries tasted nothing like hot Cheetos and the cheese was almost non-existent.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
I love getting the split cups here so that I can try 2 different drinks in one visit! The Thai milk tea and the classic milk tea are 2 of my favorites from here! The Tiger Sugar Milk tasted like straight up syrup..neither of us liked it at all, we ended up throwing that half away.
google avatar

Jackie L.

Yelp
Food was good, portion size was big so you can share, the wait for your drink/food is pretty long if there is more than 3 people in there. Jasmine milk tea and strawberry bliss are my favorites highly recommend.
