Türkiye: From the Bazaar to the Vineyard, from the Inn to the Beach, In Pursuit of İzmir’s Delicacies
"I stop at Zeynel Ergin Bakery for the true İzmir classic sandwich made with tangy İzmir tulum cheese and tomatoes tucked into kumru bread — a dough leavened with chickpea flour — which I also like to enjoy with a steaming cup of tea." - The MICHELIN Guide
Very famous restaurant with long history.
Their sesame bread and sandwiches are soooo good! People there are so nice even though we cannot understand each other.
You must try the bread with butter or cheese, fantastic!
The sesame bread is one of the best. I tried several bakeries and this one is special, smells so good and it’s kind of like Nan in Xin Jiang province , China. Hard but fragrant!
Must try their hot from the oven sandwiches! Simply delicious! My favorite ❤️
If I come here again I will definitely visit this place!

Had breakfast at this place yesterday. Their tomato cheese sandwich is great. Simit was average due to hardness. The overall experience was very nice. Highly recommended their cheese sandwich.

Really enjoyed Zeynel Gevrek Bakery. The gevreks were fresh and perfectly crisp; other pastries were also tasty. Friendly service and a clean place — great for breakfast or a quick snack.

Long queues but totaly deserves it. Simit kumru, salad, Izmir cheese are all great.

I really enjoy Turkish food and snacks, but I feel this place is a bit overrated. You don’t get any special service, but the crowded and lively atmosphere has its own charm.

While visiting from Australia, we popped into this bakery on our 2 last days in Izmir. Each time, we tried different flavoured Boyoz - all of which were tasty! My highlight was the chocolate filled croissant-type pastry which was so full of chocolate and absolutely delicious.

One of the famous gevrek bakeries of izmir, may be the oldest one. They serve gevrek, boyoz and kumru which are really popular in Izmir. Must try…

Lovely authentic bakery with the freshly baked gevrek. Try the chocolate, mushroom, yoghurt cheese, spinach pastries - all of which are good! Have them with Turkish tea and life is perfect :) parking is a bit tricky, better to come on foot.
