I recently visited ZHANGLIANG MALATANG in Chinatown, and I have to say it was a great dining experience overall. The restaurant was clean, tidy, and well maintained you can tell they take good care of the place. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very patient when explaining how everything works, especially for first-time visitors like me. Their cheerful attitude and quick service made the visit even more enjoyable. The food itself was very good. I loved the concept where you get to pick exactly what you want to eat you simply grab a big bowl, choose from a wide variety of meats, vegetables, noodles, tofu, seafood, and more, then hand it to the counter for cooking. The pricing is based on weight, at £3.48 per 100 grams, which is quite reasonable considering the quality and freshness of the ingredients. They are also offering a 20% discount until the 31st of November, which makes it even better value for money. Most of the dishes I tried were flavorful and cooked perfectly in their signature spicy and aromatic malatang broth. The broth had just the right balance of heat and depth, and everything soaked up the flavors beautifully. However, the only disappointment for me was the squid it was a bit tasteless and slightly smelly, lacking the freshness and texture I expected. Apart from that, everything else was excellent. Overall, ZHANGLIANG MALATANG is a must-try spot in Chinatown for anyone who loves customizable, delicious, and authentic Sichuan-style hot pot dishes.

Tried Zhangliang Malatang in Chinatown and had a very satisfying meal. I ordered the classic bone broth malatang, tomato soup malatang, and a spicy dry mix. The bone broth was rich and well-balanced, not greasy, and worked really well with ingredients like tofu skin, potatoes, seaweed and meatballs. The tomato soup had a natural sourness rather than a tomato paste flavour, and stayed light even after cooking for a while. The spicy dry mix was evenly seasoned, fragrant, and not overpowering. There’s a wide selection of ingredients and everything looked fresh. The self-serve sauce station is well organised and easy to use, especially if you’re familiar with the Zhangliang style. The restaurant itself is clean, bright, and casual. Food came out quickly and it’s a comfortable spot for a quick meal or a casual catch-up. Overall, a reliable and familiar malatang option in London. I’d definitely come back when I’m craving something warm and comforting.

Food was amazing! The fish and veg were super fresh and tasted amazing in the beef bone broth! I’d highly recommend you try the tofu skin and black fungus mushrooms if you haven’t already as they soak up the flavour! We got the mild broth but it was still quite spicy for us but that’s because we don’t really eat spicy food but it was delicious nonetheless! The food came quickly and there was no service charge as you add the items yourself and collect your meal yourself however the ladies at the counter were super helpful and lovely! Great experience and great food!

It was great food for the price, good tofu and fish selection with great tasting broths. Only qualm is that it would be nice with more types of veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, ect

Yummy, authentic, and affordable drypot and Malatang. It tastes exactly like the ones I got in Asia. This is probably the McDonalds of China but it’s so good. Only £16 for all this food!
