11 Showstopping Desserts Around Boston

"A newcomer on the scene, Zhi Wei has been building buzz over its rich, restorative Lanzhou-style beef noodle soup. But don’t stop there: Finish the meal off with spoonfuls of owner Jin Tan’s clear osmanthus flower jelly. It is cool and refreshing, with a subtle floral flavor that is a calming capstone on the meal." - Nathan Tavares, Erika Adams

Found this lovely spot through Yelp as it was in walking distance from our hotel and we wanted to explore Chinatown. While not right in the center of Chinatown, it's close enough to the outskirts - not far from a big transportation terminal. Came a bit late in the evening but the restaurant still had several other tables filled and take out orders being picked up. Inside was nice, quiet, simple, modern. The back wall has a neat history of the Lanzhou beef noodles and certain criteria it must meet. Staff was friendly and helpful in items to try and how to use the tablet to order. Food came out in a couple stages and all was delish. The soup dumplings were solid but skin was a little thicker than I prefer. The lamb pancake was unique and tasty and honestly pretty filling. The Mala beef with rice was tasty and flavorful but probably the one thing we could have done without ordering (we ordered too much food!!). The Lanzhou beef noodles did not disappoint and the bowl was bigger than my head! The BBQ lamb skewers were tasty and you can't go wrong with meat on a stick. Definitely a hidden gem just outside the main Chinatown area that you should put on your list.

We took our baby boy (3 months) and the staff were so accommodating. They even helped boil some water for us to make some baby formula, small but just very understanding. The atmosphere was really nice and calm. The mood was perfect. The food tasted great. I really enjoyed the stir fried noodles and the lamb skewers. My wife really liked the dumplings.

Google
Such a cute place in a corner of Chinatown. Haven't had a noodle soup exactly like this before and it did not disappoint! If you're looking for something savory and comforting give it a shot. My partner order lamb fried rice which was also so flavorful and satisfying. We had the preserved egg salad too, which I'd recommend, bear in mind the egg is very rich so it could be heavy on the palette. We came in on a sleepy Saturday late afternoon, so it wasn't crazy busy and service was good. Really liked the chill pop music playing in the background and the ambiance is nice.

Google
Came here for a quick bite since it has great proximity to South Station. The service was really fast but the green onion pancakes were not crispy at all. I didn’t feel like calling the server to get them fried a bit more, but the server seemed nice. I hope in the future to try the soup dumplings!

Google
This place has the best noodle soup I've ever had! If you've never tried Lanzhou noodles before, you are missing out - but this is the right place to try them. The beef is flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the broth is very savory. I knew I would come back before I even finished my first bowl

Google
The spicy Lanzhou beef noodle soup was exactly what I needed on a cold windy Boston day. It was warming, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The broth was rich and beefy, the and the chili oil gave it that perfect kick without overwhelming the palate or burning your mouth. The Xinjiang style crispy lamb ribs is a must. They were golden brown and crunchy on the outside, insanely fatty and juicy on the inside. They come with a side of cumin chili dipping powder that looks super spicy but is actually not spicy at all. It adds earthy depth that complements the lamb flavor instead of just blazing heat. My tip: ask for sandwich gloves because the ribs come out hot and juicy and you’ll need your hands to eat them.

Google
Lamb cubes are pretty dry and rubbery in the ice lamb pot(冰煮羊). Soupy buns are good. Menu is relatively small with limited options. Good customer service.

Google
Tried the ice-boiled lamb and really enjoyed it — super flavorful and tender, especially with the sesame sauce (though the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste). The only downside was the hotpot— it came out much later than the other dishes. The lamb soup was a bit too gamey and the broth lacked depth. Would probably skip that next time. Loved the lamb and chicken skewers — smoky, juicy, and nicely grilled. The highlight for me was the hand-pulled lamb ribs — more flavorful than the grilled version and incredibly tender. Definitely recommend those!

Yelp
Trust me. Just GO! House/handmade noodles - soft & chewy as they should be. Soup broths. DELICIOUS. Not salty. Don't be fooled by the fish noodle soup - it's not red but it has quite a kick with its spiciness and I can eat spicier than average. Pan fried bun & soup dumpling seem to have the same meatball filling. Bun has nice fluffy dough. Dumpling has nice thin wrapper. It didn't tear when gently lifted with our chopsticks. Grilled chicken hearts. So tasty. Fluffy fried dough you can dip into condensed milk. Need I say more? Such nice decor! Love the wall mural with the history of Lan Zhou noodles. Servers are nice & helpful. There are 3 different types of seating areas. Up front at the window so anyone walking by can see you; countertop at bar stool so you don't need to look at anyone; and standard table seating in a large area. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Decided to try this place for lunch since we were near boston area and was looking for Chinese restaurant. The place is quite unnoticeable as it's camouflaged along with other building in the area and would probably not notice unless you specifically come to this restaurant or look closely at the sign in front of the restaurant. Inside is very open space with high roofing. There are only few seatings as everything is spaced out and it does have few second floor seatings. I ordered their Lanzhou beef noodle soup, chicken skewers, and soup dumplings. As the place was not too busy at the time orders came quickly. I had never tried Lanzhou beef noodle soup but it was very good. It's a delicate dish consisting of slightly spicy and flavorful broth combined with fatty beef, white radish slices and smooth noodles. Chicken skewers and soup dumplings were also good but was not anything out of the ordinary. Overall I liked the place. Food and service were solid. Lanzhou beef noodle soup was definitely the highlight. Personally I like a bit more punch and flavor in my noodles but it was certainly a delightful dish and hand made noodles were very good. Prices were also reasonable for the most part. Solid place overall.

Yelp
We were hungry and had little options mid-afternoon for the group we were traveling with so dropped by here. Their noodle based stuff seemed OK. It does taste like they hand made their noodles. The one rice dish we got was veggie based and what we thought would be fried rice or at least stir fried together with the veggies but it didn't seem to be the case. The veggie dish tasted burnt every bite.

Yelp
Warm and cozy! The beef noodle soup was spicy, but it wasn't overly spicy where your tongue goes numb~ the chicken heart skewers were a bit dry but flavorful with its spices. The soup dumplings were the main reason I wanted to try this place! They were my favorite part of my meal! Wish the order had more than 4 because I was ready to get more servings! The stir fried shrimp noodles were flavorful and delicious. It was filling and you leave this place satisfied. Upon entering this place, it was clean and relatively empty so staff were prompt on serving us. Bathroom is clean too!

Yelp
really great lanzhou beef noodle soup!! The noodles were bouncy and not mushy, and the portion sizes were big. I liked the broth a lot, it was super flavorful and tasty. We also got lanzhou clear beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, cold noodles, and the osthmanthus ice jelly for dessert. Everything was great! It's hard to find good cold noodles in Boston, but I really liked this one. The inside of the cafe is nicely decorated as well, and service was great.

Yelp
Quick service! Friendly staff! Inside was decently spacious and had dimmer lighting. Got the beef noodle soup and the noodles were nice, soup not too spicy, the beef was very thinly sliced and tender, also had lots of daikon that soaked up all the flavor. Solid bowl of noodle soup

Yelp
I was so grateful and impressed by the customer service here! They didn't have too many employees working when I visited on a weekday evening, but the servers were all very attentive and kind to me. I arrived a bit earlier than my dining partner but got seated immediately because the restaurant was fairly empty at the time. Since my dining partner was on the way, we decided that I would order for us first. The employee who took my order offered to keep a menu for my dining partner to review. It was a super small gesture but I really appreciated it. I ordered a noodle soup which came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering. Without me needing to ask, another employee came by my table with a set of small bowls and spoons to ask me if I ordered the noodle soup to share. These small gestures made me feel that the staff genuinely care about their customers! On top of the excellent customer service, I really enjoyed the food here. I tried the mala lamb ($19.99), the soup dumplings ($8.99), and the Lanzhou beef noodle soup ($14.99). The mala lamb came with very tender pieces of lamb soaked in a smoky chili oil. The lamb sat on a soy sauce and vinegar-based cucumber salad. While the lamb pieces were warm, the salad was cold and refreshing. I liked how the lamb was on the fattier side which made it even more tender. The soup dumplings here are packed with soup! The pork filling was light, flavorful, and tasted fresh. Sadly, one of the four dumplings ripped while we were removing them from the steaming paper, but they were still very enjoyable. The skin on these soup dumplings are a bit thicker than what you'd get at Din Tai Fung or Nanxiang but I personally prefer thicker dumpling wrappers anyway. If you are coming here for the first time, their Lanzhou beef noodle soup is a must try! You can even get thick noodles with an added price but I decided to try their regular noodles. They were very long and chewy. The broth was light and comforting. I look forward to trying their lamb noodle soup. All in all, I found the food here to be very homey and comforting. Combined with the kind and welcoming staff, this is an easy five stars!

Yelp
Absolutely loved my Sunday lunch here. The noodle dish I had was awesome. I loved their chili sauce! Inside struck me as a pretty cosmopolitan place. Our appetizers dumplings and a veggie were perfect. Not too much not too little. Small staff that day just one person but it wasn't busy so all service was reasonably timed and paced.

Yelp
Pretty good spot for noodles! We visited Zhi Wei Cafe after hearing about their Lanzhou noodle soups and had a great time! We tried a few items from their menu, including the Homemade Soup Dumplings, Homemade Hot Soy Milk, Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, Stir Fried Lamb Noodles, and the Osmanthus Flavor Iced Jelly. Their specialty, the Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, was absolutely the star of the show. It had a flavorful clear broth and was fragrant from the cilantro that the dish was topped with. The noodles were easy to slurp and held the flavor of the broth really well. The dish is originally spicy but I requested the chili oil to be added on the side. The spice from the chili oil definitely adds to the dish! I also really enjoyed their soy milk and soup dumplings, which were both advertised to be homemade. I wasn't the biggest fan of their stir fried noodles, the dish had a slightly sour taste profile which I wasn't used to in my noodle dishes. I did really enjoy the jelly and the osmanthus aroma from our jelly dessert but did not like the toppings, which were raisins and haw flakes that got really soggy after a while. In terms of service, we had a really great server that gave us great recommendations with their menu. It wasn't super busy when we went during a Saturday evening so we got seated right away and received our food pretty fast. They have a good number of tables for a restaurant in the Chinatown area and the interior decor is very clean and cute. There was also a wall explaining the history of Lanzhou beef noodle soups so you can learn something while you wait! I would definitely come back again to try some more items on their menu, especially the appetizers, which all sound delicious.

Yelp
For yet another quick work lunch, I returned to Zhi Wei Cafe. On this Monday at 1pm, the establishment was almost completely full; I managed to snag the last available table. I ordered the L1 Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup / 蘭州牛肉湯麵 ($14.95) yet again; this time, I paired it with A7 Beef Pancake / 牛肉夾餅 ($8.95). I received the noodle soup in record time - 2 minutes after placing my order. The toppings (beef slices, radish) seemed more generous compared to last time. This time, I had a much better appreciation of the springy, chewy texture of the noodles. Since I eat fairly quickly, I managed to finished the noodle soup before the beef pancake arrived. This didn't bother me, but I suspect it may throw off ordering plans for parties wanting appetizers. The beef pancake's outer ... well, "pancake" was not too oily. It also did not go overboard with the hoisin sauce.

Yelp
Came here on a cold Sunday night for dinner with my wife and the in-laws when we were visiting Boston. Came across this place right when we were craving hand pulled noodle and it perfectly fit the bill. Tucked away on a relatively quiet street across from the main chinatown gate sits Zhi Wei Cafe. The interior is very new looking and has a big traditional Chinese art and story on the wall about the noodles history. I will say the service was a little bit slower than we were expecting, but chalked it up to then being relatively new. We got 2 orders of lamb skewers and 1 order of bok choy. The skewers were pretty decent but the bok choy was disappointing. They were cold and pricier than they should've been (why it's a 4 star instead of 5) The coup de Grace was definitely the star of the night. The broth was perfectly balanced and full of flavor and umami. The noodles chewiness works so well with the crunchiness if the radish. The beef gives you that extra flavor bite you're looking for and the spicy cuts through any fat. Will definitely recommend the noodle soup, especially on a cold winter day.

Yelp
Very good food. The beef pancakes were delicious. The Chicken Stir fry was very flavorful as well

Yelp
Stir fry noodle - That's a 2-3 stars dish. I would order the soup noodle, much better. My stir fry noodle was a bit salty. The cabbage was bitter. I would rather use well cooked onion instead. But that's just me. Beef soup noodle - Very tasty. The noodle texture is good too. Shrimp ball - I like salty egg yolk so I like this fish. The skewers were also good. But the beef we ordered was a bit tough. Soy milk is good as well. Good soy flavor. All in all, pretty good.

Yelp
In town for lunch, stumbled upon a place advertising Lanzhou Niu Rio Mian!! Had to try it out! 8/10 not bad for something outside Lanzhou. Noodles were good had some chew and not overcooked, broth was on point! Chilli oil wasn't bad but the beef could be improved, should be drier and a brisket type cut, this was more chewy consistency like beef tongue. Skewers were great and their home made soup dumplings were on point! Best Lanzhou Nio Riu Mian in and around Boston.

Yelp
Nicely decorated restaurant that is suitable for smaller group sizes to dine in. I ordered the homemade soy milk, lamb skewers, and lamb chop noodle soup. It was tasty! They did a great job with marinating and cooking the lamb. I would come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious noodle soup, one of the better versions of this northwest style in the Greater Boston. Really tasty. Service is quick and friendly, place is modern and clean. Price point is very reasonable. Would gladly come and back and recommend it to friends!

Yelp
Had the lamb skewers and the beef noodle soup. The spice level was medium at best, but add some chili oil and both were delicious!!!! Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Our first time trying this place. It was okay. I would say there is nothing special about it and I probably wouldn't come back again. See pictures for recommendations.

Yelp
We tried Zhi Wei because we were in the area exploring. It was a newer restaurant (about a year in service). There were two large customer parties so the service was slower than expected. Everything else was fantastic! We had three different stir fried noodle dishes and three different skewers. Everything we ordered was really good! I would definitely come back for more!

Yelp
We love Zhi Wei Cafe! It is tucked away in the leather district, which by the way, has some incredible shops/finds. We were created by a very welcoming hostess, who sat us by away on the balcony platform of the restaurant. The menu had all the essentials, including appetizers, diverse, entrées, and a small dessert section. We opted to order the Lan Zhou Beef noodle soup, pan fried dumplings, barbecue and chicken wings. For dessert we ordered a small fried pastry made of pumpkin and red bean. Overall the meal was excellent and surprisingly affordable. Definitely check them out!

Yelp
This place has some pretty good noodle soup, especially their Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup. The bowl was very flavorful and easy to consume. We also ordered some lamb skewers and soup dumplings. The soup dumplings were pretty good in size and had great flavors but lacked soup inside of it. The lamb skewers were good and not too gamey. The interior of the shop was well decorated and has a modern feel to it.

Yelp
We had a wonderful lunch there, family friendly place , my 3 kids love their food so much! Restaurant is super nice decor, spacious and very clean, no oily floor, restroom is very clean and fresh. Food is delicious !!! Noodles and dumplings are all handmade. And the amazing friendly service made it even more tasty. Parking is easy, we went at 12 noon on Saturday. Highly recommend this gems! Walking distance next to china town.

Yelp
Stopped by to try their spicy Lanzhou beef noodle soup after they landed in Eater's new places to try out. I didn't find their noodles as springy as other reviews, but did enjoy the flavor of their broth. The "spicy" version was definitely on the milder side, so if you're looking for a kick, definitely ask for extra chili oil. Service was fast and noodles came out in less than 10 minutes. I enjoyed the upper seating area by the windows because it was a bit quieter.
google avatar

Yelp
It's great to have a decent northern Chinese food restaurant in Boston! The broth of the beef soup was clear and flavorful. The lamp was a bit too fatty though. I love the crispy rice cake with brown sugar inside which was different from what you usually get.

Yelp
I randomly found Zhi Wei while looking through places to eat in Chinatown on Yelp a couple of months ago and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did! The restaurant is spacious and clean with a cozy lofted level. Overall, I like their Lanzhou beef noodle soup but haven't tried anything else I've liked. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup (a spicy version of the beef noodle soup) has a delicious, savory broth. The noodles were well-cooked and the beef seemed to be a thinly-shaved beef shank, which I've never seen before in this kind of soup (I'm used to thicker cuts). I really enjoyed this dish and all of its components. I would definitely get this again. I also tried the soup dumplings which I didn't think were that great. They are very big but the skins are pretty thick. On my second visit, I tried the fish fillet with green pepper noodle soup and I would not recommend this at all. The fish tasted weird and turned me off of the whole dish. The broth was pretty good at first but at some point the fish flavor permeated it strongly and I couldn't eat it anymore. It seems like the restaurant is pretty popular on takeout delivery apps so it took us a while to get our food the first time, but overall I think their Lanzhou beef noodle soup is worth the visit. Hopefully I can find some other gems on the menu next time.

Yelp
This place is located on the quieter side of Chinatown with wider streets and easier parking. The inside was surprisingly spacious, so this would be a good group dinner spot. Food: I tried the L1 Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup. It had a nice kick from the chili oil, had tender beef slices, and overall hit the spot. I finished the entire bowl, including the soup. Service: It took quite a while to get our check even though it wasn't that busy, and we eventually had to go up and ask for it. Other than that, no issues.

Dave H.

Yelp
Very bland food. Chicken tasted like it was laying around for a couple of days. Not impressed. Plenty of other options out there!
google avatar

Sammi C.

Yelp
I tried this place when it first open and it was amazing. Like most places when they first open aren't that good. So I was actually shocked that the food was pretty good. My favorite was the Lanzhou beef noodle soup. So much flavor and not too salty.
google avatar

Vickie L.

Yelp
The signature *Lanzhou Clear Beef Noodle Soup* is well made. Very flavorful with decent amount of beef. If I have to nit pick, the soup is on the darker side, not clear enough to my standard. Still worth a try! The only comparable soup noodles of this style I could think of is Aries Noodle & Dumpling in Waltham. *Mala Beef* is also a must try. Not super spicy, very refreshing as a cold appetizer. Would order again. *Stir Fried Lamb Noodles* - not recommend. It's weird to stir fry this kind of hand pulled noodles...and the sauces and ingredients don't feel cohesive enough with the noodles, as if they were poured upon afterwards instead of fried together. Friendly staff, quick service, trendy vibe. Price is slightly more expensive (~$16 per noodle entree) than your average Chinatown eateries but on par with other FIDI lunch spots (oh inflation!). Inflated 5 stars for encouragement! Will come again!

Yelp
My friend and I came to Zhi Wei on a Saturday evening, and the restaurant was basically empty. We were greeted immediately and proceeded to take a seat at any table we liked. We ordered the Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, Soy Milk & Dough Sticks, and Golden Shrimp Balls. I really enjoyed the beef slices present in the dish. The noodles were not bad. They are firm and do not get soggy over time. The broth was okay, but I wish it was a bit more flavorful as it did not leave much of an impression. The dish was also not spicy at all. The dough sticks were not that good. They were overly dry and crispy, although they were alright when soaked by the soy milk. I really enjoyed the options provided to enjoy the soy milk. You can have it hot or cold and sweet or unsweetened. I had it hot and sweetened, but honestly, I did not taste the sweetness much. I also wish it was a bit hotter, but it is fine. The golden shrimp balls were a surprise. They had egg yolk filling inside, which explodes in your mouth when you bite into the balls. The shrimp flavoring felt a bit lacking, but I did enjoy its crispy exterior. The service was really nice. They do not hurry you to leave and let you take your time to eat in peace while chitchatting. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I would not purposely make the trip to come here. It is a nice addition to the area, though.

Yelp
Verdict: Recommended, especially for those craving Lanzhou Ramen. Price: $120 (with tip) for 5 dishes. Sufficient for 3 men. Food (7/10): Lamb Chops: Highlight of the meal. Authentic, though on the pricier side. Beef Noodle Soup: Genuine flavor with a savory broth. Soup Dumplings: Standard American taste. Service (3/10): Minimal; limited mostly to serving dishes. Ambiance (4/10): Unremarkable setting. Expect parking challenges.

Yelp
Clean, modern space that is very welcoming. The appetizers were better than the entrees. The bbq beef skewers had the right balance of sweet and salty seasonings, and the right fat ratio. We greatly enjoyed steamed pork & leek dumplings cooked Al Dante. The soup dumplings were moist but did not contain soup. The spicy beef noodle soup and 3 stir fried noodle dishes were bland. The fresh noodles didn't seem to hold seasoning and vegetable noodle dish only had onion and carrot. The beef used in the soup is high quality, the broth was not spicy nor overly flavorful. Super clean bathroom and attentive service.

Yelp
We popped in here around 8pm last Friday, and were greeted and sat immediately. It's a clean bright space-- it's the former location of The Kitchen Café which I loved dearly when I worked on South Street-- but they did the space justice! We split the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, the Soup Dumplings (not pictured), and the Taiyaki Fish Cone Ice Cream. The noodle soup came out first, and was delicious, spicy, and homey-- it's a soup I'll think of when it's cold or when I'm sick. The broth, the noodles, the chili oil-- everything was on point. The soup dumplings came out next, with a traditional ginger vinegar dumpling sauce. I was worried we had ordered "too much soup", but the broth in the dumplings was different enough to keep things interesting-- almost a little sweet?-- and the dumplings themselves held together perfectly. We finished the meal with the Taiyaki ice cream, which, to be honest, I couldn't tell you the flavor if I tried? I thought it had red bean paste, my husband said coffee... who knows? But it was great! All in all, excited to come back and try more things. I hope they do well!

Yelp
Very good affordable Chinese noodle rice shop on the outer edge of Chinatown. More spacious seating then the average Chinatown shop. The waitstaff was very attentive. The water glasses should be bigger but they did refill us many times. Regarding the menu, on 1 side is the list of Lanzhou noodles stir fry and soup versions and rice with a varieties of protein options (beef, chicken, shrimp, lamb, vegetable, etc.) and on the other side is a large list of 31 appetizers. We ordered A14 Barbecue Chicken Gizzard Skewers 2 pcs, A15 Barbecue Chicken Heart Skewer 2 pcs, A16 Homemade Soup Dumplings 4 pcs, A17 Handmade Pan Fried Bun 4 pcs, A18 Pork & Chives Dumplings 6 pcs, A22 Shanghai Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce, A23 Edamame, A28 Crispy Tofu, A30 Chinese Fried Dough Sticks, L2 Beef Noodle Soup, L8 Stir Fried Beef Noodle, R1 Mala Beef with Rice. If it sounds like we ordered a lot, we did and we managed to eat almost all of it! We would definitely order again: soup dumplings pork & chive dumplings, edamame, boy choy, fried dough sticks, the beef noodle soup and the stir fry beef noodle. The soup dumplings were classic and required soup spoons to help eat them so the delicate soup isn't lost. Edamame and boy choy are always our favorites especially the latter with extra oyster sauce. We ended up ordering a 2nd order of the fried dough sticks but it's more of a dessert than appetizer. The beef noodle soup and beef stir fry were filling. The Mala Beef with Rice was a mixed bag - one in our group did not like it but another did. The skewers were good but we'd probably skip them next time. The pan fried buns were too big and just ok. The tofu was plentiful but the orange mayo sauce might have made the dish look nicer but it made it a lot less tasty to us and we didn't finish it. The food here is not earth shattering high cuisine but affordable and good with a really wonderful staff. This is a great Chinese comfort food place and we will happily return.

Yelp
We came here about a month ago and got the Lanzhou beef noodle soup and the shrimp noodles. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup in particular was delicious! Loved the flavor and the texture of the noodles. We really enjoyed the service and unassuming ambiance as well so rounded up from 4.5 to 5. Welcome to the neighborhood Zhi Wei Cafe! Edited to add a picture!

Yelp
Great place! Hidden gem of Boston. One of the best noodle soups in town. Service is fast. Never a wait. The broth is delicious and the noodles are perfect texture. The only down side is they don't give you enough meat!
google avatar

Lena L.

Yelp
They have a secret menu 'iced cooked lamb' it comes w lamb hot pot, skewers, veggie, noodle/rice and dessert. The lamb came out pretty quickly along with other dishes, but the veggie and noodles that goes with it took forever to come out. We asked them 4 times before they brought it out and at that point we finished the meat and don't have much broth left.

Yelp
Service was excellent and the food was delicious. All the food was fresh, good quality ingredients. You can taste the difference in the homemade dumplings and noodles .

Yelp
Stopped by for a late afternoon lunch after arriving at South Station from out of town. Delicious spicy beef ramen, bok choy and crispy tofu. Highly recommend! Why eat train station food when you could be walking two minutes to come here?

Yelp
Pan fried buns were sooo good. Also loved the spice of the Lanzhou Beef Noodle soup. Will absolutely come back.

Yelp
This is a beautiful Chinese eatery. Clean and tastefully decorated. The standout is the food of course. Coincidentally a couple we knew called me to join them and my husband came in a few minutes later. We ordered the Lanzhou beef noodle soup on their recommendation and the shrimp stir fried noodles as it was popular Yeloer choice. Along with the noodles we ordered the pan fried baos and the beef pancakes. The noodles were stellar - perfect al dente texture where you just know these are fresh made noodles. I drank much of the lovely broth. I couldn't get enough of the shrimp noodles. The beef pancakes were light not greasy with wonderful little flavors and textures. The pan fried baos are good but not my favorite but everyone else wolfed them down. I'm so thrilled to see so many new Chinese restaurants opening in Boston. We'll be back!

Yelp
The beef noodle was good but the mala tofu was preserved egg stole the show for me. Priced right too.

Yelp
I went there along with 2 other people to check it out. One of my friends said that his friend came here before and it tasted similar to the food in Taiwan, so I thought that was worth a go. I got the L2 with extra noodles and also split some Scallion pancakes. They do offer a decent amount of extra noodles. Having finished everything, I was not full, and I'm not a big eater. Prices were average. Taste of the noodles was bland. Broth was ok. Ambiance is relaxing. Our water cups were oily, but they were replaced with freshly washed ones. I would give this place one more go, as the Vegetable Stir Fried Noodle sounds to be good.

Yelp
Flavorful Beef Noodle soup! Broth was so tasty with no msg after taste. Came back for dinner and ordered almost every appetizer on the menu! Didn't disappoint. Pan fried buns was my favorite. Restaurant is clean and modern with a traditional twist. Will be back!

Yelp
The worst soup dumplings I've ever had The soup dumplings were overcooked, all the wrappers were broken. I am surprised that they severed the soup dumplings with broken wrappers and fillings out. The worst XLB ever.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was great! We didn't have a reservation but were able to be seated in about 10-15 minutes. The Lanzhou beef noodle was flavorful and satisfying. The overall ambiance was also great. The restaurant was clean and decorated beautifully.

Yelp
My husband and I randomly stumbled across this place on our way to breakfast. We decided to change our minds and check out the spot since it looked cute and people seated by the windows were enjoying themselves. What an amazing suprise! We both ordered the spicy Lanzhou noodle soup, which tasted delicious and fresh. We also ordered the soup dumplings and pan-fried bao. We were so full but ate it anyway because of how good it was. The coconut juice was a suprise win too. The staff were so kind and delivered with quality service. We would love to dine there again in the future.

Yelp
May this place prosper!!!! I love love love love love lanzhou noodles. Without any bias Food: 5/5 Lanzhou mian: The most comforting noodle soup!!! Yummy flavorful bowl of soup that the flavor sticks and seasons the noodles really well. Mala beef: also very yummy 5/5 Service 5/5 quick, no frills Ambiance: Big place, and there is lots of seating where I dont feel claustrophobic, which makes me happy. Took no photos because I devoured everything so quickly.... That's how you know it's that good!
