Where to Eat Around Fordham | Eater NY

"This Chinese restaurant, which recently opened its latest outpost in the Bronx, is growing in popularity amongst Fordham students. Whether it is for takeout or dining in, the warm-welcoming environment sells it all. Selections range from Zajiang noodles and spicy braised beef noodles to a variety of small bites, including pork soup dumplings and spicy wontons." - Nicholas Hernandez

Google
I loved my tomato beef soup, not spicy. The beef was tender and the soup was not too salty. There was a good amount of bok choy, an egg, and fresh tomatoes. I will come back for these noodles; it's definitely one of the best I've tried in NYC. The soup feels like a REAL soup, not one of those fake Chinese noodles. My husband's soup was Szechuan beef noodles, it was very spicy and had a weird flavor, which is not for everyone. We didn't like that particular flavor. Peas in that soup were somewhat hard too. The portions were big. It was clean but quiet in the restaurant, some music wouldn't hurt. Not crowded.

If I lived closer, I'd be ordering from here everyday. I love the food here, specifically the braised beef noodles and the spicy wontons. It has just the right amount of spiciness and the flavor is so good. The staff here is also so nice and accommodating! Zoey, specifically, is amazing as she always makes sure my order is right and she's always friendly and professional.

Google
I ordered the shredded chicken ramen bowl for lunch and the fried chicken. The fried chicken had a strange taste and was extremely pink inside, that I was not a fan of, I couldn't eat it. As I began to eat the ramen bowl, I decided to break apart the bok choy into smaller pieces to make it easier to eat. As I lifted up one of the leaves, I noticed a small black dot with legs. To my horror, I realized it was an insect. Please beware because if they do not clean their produce thoroughly and quality checking, I am afraid to know what else they do not clean. I had to throw out my food, super disappointing since this place has high ratings.

Google
There was no one in the resturant when I had went in so I had pretty fast service. My food was ready in about 5 minutes as I got it to go. I got the Szechuan noodles and I was NOT disappointed. The noodles were pretty firm, not the biggest fan of chickpeas but they were fine. The best part was the duck egg, the egg was super rich and flavorful; I’ve actually really hated eggs before this but ig I’ve just hated chicken eggs specifically. I also loved the broth went well with the egg, spicy, rich, and not too heavy on the stomach. Please go to this spot, it’s criminally underrated, it’s like a Chinatown hidden gym but in the Bronx!

Google
Really cool find with great service! The place is pretty small, but we were there around 7pm and we were able to get a table. We got the Szechuan style braised beef noodle, tomato noodle soup, vegan beef dumpling, and wonton in chili sauce!! I really love spicy food and to me they weren’t that spicy, but my friend is a bit less tolerant and says it was… take it for what you will. Really good food, good service, and good price!

Google
What an amazing experience! I'm from Florida visiting and this food was absolutely delicious. Small businesses here in NYC are the back bone of the city and culture. Service was on point and attentive, ambiance was very welcoming and professional. The Bronx clearly has a hidden gem! Also tons of friendly people coming in and out throughout my visit. Totally worth it, must try!!!

Google
This is a nice little noodle shop in the middle of the Bronx. They do not have a wide selection on their menu but what they do have is pretty good. They do have clear vegetarian options. Although I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here, if I was in the area, I'd stop by again

Google
Absolutely awful food. I don’t often leave bad reviews unless I feel compelled to let others know to avoid an establishment. Don’t be fooled by the food pictures - everything is made with low quality ingredients. We had the “braised” short rib noodle and fried chicken bowl. The beef was the worst quality - chewy and tasteless. The fried chicken was so pink on the inside and tasted like reheated fried chicken. AVOID THIS SPOT

Yelp
Wish I took pics of the food we ordered. Honestly we were surprised by this spot. We were browsing lunch on UberEats around Calvary hospital while visiting my mom. The noodles, soup, and wontons def hit the spot for us. If you're craving for something soupy, spicy and flavorful, def save this spot on your list of places to try.

Yelp
Loved, loved, Loved Zhongzhong Noodles!!!! Can't wait to be back!!! I came here with my mom and my bf after our plane arrived from the Caribbean... we were starving and we were so so so cold after spending a month in our country... we were craving warm food, something to feed our souls and warmup our bodies, so I found them and decided to head here. It was my mom's first time trying ramen soup and it drove her crazy!!!! All she wants to eat now is ramen. This restaurant is small, cozy, and there were only two employees, one of them was the chef and cashier and waiter, the other one we saw doing some prep in the back and helping the chef. My mom had Shredded chicken noodle, I ordered Tomato & sliced beef noodle, my boyfriend had the Szechuan braised beef noodle. We also shared 2 orders of pork soup dumplings! The food was out of this world!!!! It was the BEST ramen I've ever had!!!! The combinations were incredible, very unique and soooooo delicious!!! The three of us ordered something different, we tried all plates and everything was so exquisite!!! The pork soup dumplings were mouthwatering and a bomb of flavor!!! They had instructions on how to eat the dumplings that we followed thoroughly. Since my mom became a ramen lover that day, we've tried different places for her to enjoy, but none compare to Zhongzhong Noodles. Believe me when I say NONE!!!!!!! The best part is the food was made right in front of us and EVERYTHING was made freshly, right there and then!! 1000000% recommended!!! They are the best!!!!

Yelp
Great hidden spot in the middle of Bronx little Italy. Soup was absolutely delicious. Service was polite and quick.

Yelp
The food is always amazing. I order from here a lot. The chicken dumplings are really good.

Chuhui L.

Yelp
I ordered braised beef noodles. The noodles are perfectly cooked , with just the right amount of bite. The toppings are generous and fresh. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and modern. The prices are super reasonable for the quality and portion size. I can't wait to go back to try more of menu . If you are a ramen lover like me , do yourself a favor and get to Zhongzhong noodles ASAP.

Yelp
I honestly was very excited to find that there was a noodle/Ramen spot in the Bronx area. When I went the place was very cozy and welcoming and clean. The person working was also very accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not up to what I expected. The beef from the beef noodle was not flavorful. The meat tasted weird. But the sauce was good however nice and spicy. The shredded chicken noodle was my favorite out of the two, but it also was lacking some thing. The vegan dumplings were all right the outside I would say was a bit tougher than normal dumplings. The marinated Japanese chicken was not marinated at all it was just fried chicken. We also ordered pork soup dumplings and i was told it was not like the typical soup dumplings we get in Chinatown. Not sure if I would come here again but feel free to try it out. It could be because I'm used to more authentic Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food. They also have a rewards system with your number. We signed up after and then got our $5 off. Booo. Sign up first

Yelp
I spend $40 on the beef noodle & beef tripe hot pot and was highly disappointed. Too much vegetables not enough protein I probably would've liked the rice bowl or something better but ended up throwing away most of it. Could've spent $8 down the block on Chinese take out and been happier ngl

Yelp
Definitely a solid 4. Good American Chinese for the area! The chicken and basil dumplings had an oddly thick wrapper. You can skip these. However, the braised marinated beef and braised marinated beef bowls had a lot of flavor. The texture was a little mushy, but the portions were good. We turned those dishes into two meals. We'll be ordering again!

Yelp
This is a small spot that sells noodles, rice bowls and dumplings. We tried the fried chicken bowl and pork dumplings. The chicken was very tender and incredibly tasty. The sauce used in this bowl was also good-- tangy and slightly sweet. The dumplings were good, very light as an appetizer. The noodles seem to be authentic Chinese- Japanese, will try them next time. Overall, the environment is chill and frequented by both physicians and students from the University. It is very clean and well-kept. We didn't get great service, the girl seemed to be juggling several tasks... but the food and ambience made up for this. Great to see more Asian owned business in the area.

Yelp
PHENOMENAL CHINESE NOODLES! This place makes two things: dumplings and noodles, and it makes them well. I went to the location in the Bronx. The ambiance is basically a series of long wooden benches in a small space. There is no table service; you order at the counter at the front. I ordered the Za Jiang Noodles and the spicy wontons, which were amazing! I expected the Za Jiang Noodles to taste like Dan Dan Noodles, but they were completely different, with the yellow bean paste. The other people in my party ordered the pork rice bowl and the wonton in chicken soup, which were also delicious. The prices were a little high for what we got, but coming from Westchester, we saved money by not having to go to Flushing. We would recommend this to any of our friends who enjoy Chinese food.

Yelp
Tasty noodles with flavored broth that's nicely spiced. We got the braised beef noodle, shredded chicken noodle, and pickled chili sliced beef noodle. The server said these three have no sugar added to the broth hence our choices. If you're not into spicy food, the shredded chicken noodle is a great choice. The broth was not too salty and complemented the ingredients well. The braised beef noodle was less spicy than the pickled chili sliced beef noodle. Both had lovely spice flavor. We also got the vegan dumplings and Xiao long bao. I don't recommend them as the dumpling skin is too thick for what makes a good dumpling. The service was super friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Great noodles and great service. Soft serve matcha ice cream at the end was the best part. Still craving it!

Awilda M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I had the chili wontons and omg! The wonton is so juicy and the chili sauce is so tasty! Also had the fried chicken rice bowl Which was really good. The service is a bit slow because they're so busy. The ambiance is ok. No one actually sitting and eating. Luved it and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
The fried chicken rice bowl was delicious! I had an issue with a previous dish that was kindly addressed and replaced with the aforementioned chicken. They were very friendly and attentive to me.

Yelp
Excited to see all these new asian foods/boba spots pop up in the Bronx in the past few years. I got the braised beef noods soup and it was really good! I am more used to taiwanese style beef noodle soup but this was still very delicious. Noodles were great chewy texture and the soup was flavorful and not too spicy. My friend tried the Za Jiang Noodle which also was different than I'm used to but was very tasty when I tried some. Prices also are pretty solid/standard. Service is quick, place is clean. highly recommend!

Yelp
After vising the New York Botanical Garden, we walked over to this spot for some noodle dishes. I enjoy Chinese dishes from hand-pulled noodles eatries, but I don't usually try noodle dish similar to ramen from a Chinese restaurant. So, I was very interested in their dishes! It was rather hidden away, placed in a residential area, instead of in the other main streets. It was still a bit early, so the place was nearly empty. By the time we left, it was pretty busy, so we were lucky to get there early! We ordered Marinated Fried Chicken, which didn't quit look the same as the photos in the ads. But the flavor is more important... It came with a dipping sauce, tasted like some king of chipotle mayo, which I really enjoyed. The chicken was tender, super juicy, so addictive! We really enjoyed it. My hubby ordered Braised Beef Noodle, and it came in a really big bowl. The broth was out of this world good! With one slurp, I was instantly sent to a noodle heaven. Delicious! The noodles were kind of bunched up together, I am not sure that is how they cook them intentionally? But the signage that says "mix well before enjoying your noodles" totally made sense. Great dish! I was feeling adventurous, and wanted to order something that was different and interesting. So, I ordered Tomato & Sliced Beef Noodle. This reminded me of an old movie called The Ramen Girl with Brittany Murphy...any fans out there??? Refreshing flavor, kind of antidote to the rich beef broth. Almost like a nice hot tomato soup without being too tomato-y. Really enjoyed this one as well. So, our visit was a complete success! They are truly a hidden gem. Their food was amazing, the portion was good, and very affordable as well. We were very happy with our order.

Yelp
After visiting the botanical gardens bronx a group of us was craving noodles and we can upon this spot. Their braised beef noodle soup was delicious. The beef is nice and tender but the noodle has the perfect texture. My other friend had their chicken noodle and the soup is clean and refreshing with strong chicken flavors. We shared soup dumpling and pork and chives dumplings as well, definitely get the noodles. Check in for a free drink. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
Ordered their tomato and sliced beef noodle with rice noodle instead of ramen through delivery and it was so good! The portion was huge and came with a lot of sliced beef! The broth was thick and tomatoey and I don't think msg was added (at least I couldn't taste it and I wasn't thirsty at all after the meal!) I normally don't drink the soup in noodle soup but the broth was so delicious that I finished everything! I'm honestly surprised by how good and authentic it tasted since it is in Bronx! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Sichuan-Inspired Noodles in the Bronx with a lot more... Location/Decor: We were looking for a place near the NY Botanical Garden. We found this hidden gem which is placed in a residential area where the inside was much larger than it looked from the outside, open and clean. On a random note, I did not realize that their outdoor signage has a few extra "o" letters in spelling Zhong Zhong nooooodles. Food: We started with a small plate of Marinated Fried Chicken. It was $4.95 with five pieces of chicken. They were tender, freshly fried, not greasy at all. The flavor was so addictive with the dipping sauce. We ordered the Braised Beef Noodle dish for their signature dish, which is $14.95. The Bok Choy was cooked perfectly, still had a nice crunch to it. The Beef slices were thick, tender, and very flavorful. We also ordered the Tomato & Sliced Beef Noodle dish for $12.95. This unique dish was a refreshing flavor. The thinly sliced beef went well with the broth. We had two cans of Iced Tea for our drinks, which we scored with our yelp check-in. Thanks, Yelp and Zhongzhong, for the complimentary beverage to go with our noodles and chicken. Service: This place is fast-casual, and the staff brought everything over to us in beautiful bowls and plates, so it felt a lot more of a serious restaurant even though it is designed as a fast-casual spot by design. We waited for the food for about 10-15 minutes, but it was worth it. Overall: Definitely, I am interested in trying more of their dishes. There is also a Roosevelt Island location in the same group which I would be happy to visit in the coming spring when the cherry blossoms bloom on Roosevelt Island.

Yelp
I loved everything here. My food was delicious. My kids were happy with their own. My picky child even enjoyed here chicken and some cooked broccoli, and we ordered some soup dumplings she enjoyed as well. Their chicken was the japanese style chicken and the broccoli had some sweet sauce on it but was so crunchy and crispy that my daughter ordered another bowl of them. My soup was banging. The broth was just everything. The cook was super cool about making me another bowl too, because I didn't know it had mushrooms and most mushrooms I have an allergy to. So when I saw it in my soup he was really nice about just making me a fresh bowl. Their customer service was so excellent here. I can't wait to do more visits as it gets colder. The prices were affordable and reasonable. My girls and I had a really good dining experience. We weren't rushed and we were so full afterwards we could not order any of the Matcha ice cream they sold. I did get a souvenir on my way out but it was something that I had asked for. The guy was really nice about giving me this cup they had for decorating. He warned me not to eat out of it because it's not strong enough for food. I tell ya what, you want a good bowl of Ramen please go visit and support this great place today A+ Approved

Yelp
Zhongzhong gets it right, good food, courteous and pleasant hosting! It does not get any better! Be cautious, very spicy.

Yelp
The location of this Chinese restaurant isn't the best but the foods are great! They offer authentic Chinese noodles and other rice dishes. They also have their signature fried chicken. Don't forget to check in on Yelp so you can get a free drink of your choice. I orders the braised beef noodle and the spicy level is no joke. I'm afraid that some of the people who cannot tolerate spicy foods may find it difficult to eat but I absolutely enjoyed it

Ruff B.

Yelp
Long story short, I didn't like it. When I ordered the noodles, I asked if it was a soup or noodles with a sauce. They said soup. But it wasn't. It wasn't enough sauce/broth to be soup. I wanted soup. I also got 3 rice bowls for my family. I have most of all three bowls sitting on the table 8 hours later. It's most likely going in the garbage. The people were very nice. The place was clean. I ordered the food to go. And I'm honestly not a big Chinese food fan. I love ramen, Japanese food, Korean food, Thai food, pretty much all other Asian options. And I've had good dim sum. This wasn't it for me. I don't have pics because it was a to go order. If you like these flavors or these menu options, it might work for you. It was a one and done for me though.

Wang C.

Yelp
I'm from China and these are spectacular noodles. We got the Szechuan spicy beef noodles, and the tomato beef soup with rice noodles. Their portions are generous and the soup bases are delicious. Great quality meat and veg too! We even ended up getting dessert and the ice cream tasted smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of matcha. The owners are so nice and friendly! Overall the atmosphere of the restaurant is a 10. Would recommend!
google avatar

Felicia I.

Yelp
I've ordered from here twice & both times it hit the spot! I ordered the braised beef noodle which comes with beef bone broth, beef shank, bok choy, an egg, scallions, I might be missing one more thing, but either way it's delicious! It's a little heat, but not overpowering, the beef is so tender & seasoned to perfection. The broth is also very flavorful which brings the whole meal together. Thanks to Yelp & reading the reviews I knew this was something to definitely try. I also ordered the marinated fried chicken (5 pcs) & it was good & the sauce on the side was tasty! In this immediate area a lot of restaurants have low ratings, but I'm happy I came across this diamond in a ruff!

Andrew M.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Delicious! Will definitely come back. Great atmosphere. Service was fast as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, prompt service and great portions! Exceeded expectations, we are definitely coming back :)
google avatar

Yelp
Rude lady at cash register. My first time there, I ordered noodles that I thought would be ramen. Once I saw my order come out, I told her I expected ramen noodles. She got upset and got an attitude. Didn't try to explain was just straight rude then was dragging to exchange my order. I wouldn't go back. The service sucks
google avatar

Joey V.

Yelp
The answer to all your noodle hopes and dreams in the Bronx. Belmont is a hotbed of international food options and Zhongzhong is a phenomenal representative of China
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and it didn't disappoint Pros: - Braised Beef Noodle and Braised Pork Rice Bowl were delicious! Noodles definitely had a kick and they don't skimp on the meat - Quick service - in and out - Clean single stall bathroom Cons: - Marinated Fried Chicken was not that good, a lot of breading and lacks flavor - Limited street parking

Christina L.

Yelp
Great food and so good for a great price. We ordered the chicken and steak ramen noodles to balance eat other. The steak is very spicy.
google avatar

Dale J.

Yelp
I was looking for a new and exciting restaurant to to try in the Bronx. I stumbled across this restaurant on Uber Eats. I thought the menu looked cool and went ahead and gave it a try. I ordered the Fried Chicken Bowl and Chicken and Basil Dumplings. The fried chicken bowl lacked any real flavor and the chicken wasn't crispy. The marinated egg was overcooked. The Chicken and Basil Dumplings were scantily filled and lacked any depth of flavor. I proabably wont order from this restaurant in the future. It just didnt deliver with any depth of flavor.
google avatar

Eduardo H.

Yelp
It's was great. The flavor is there! Reason I gave it a 4 is because they don't have the option of not including the spice in the dishes. So there's only few dishes that are spice free. BUT THE DUMPLINGS OMFG!! BUSSING BUSSING... and the price it type w.e not the prettiest of location, but inside is nice and clean
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food in the Bronx!! I have tried their noodles in Roosevelt Island which is their original location. Very authentic Chinese food!! Just found out that they opened a new location in Bronx! Came here after a trip with my family to Bronx Zoo this weekend. This place is cool and super clean! Staffs are friendly and attentive! We ordered Fried Chicken, Braised Pork Rice Bowl,Braised Beef Noodle and Tomato Beef Noodle. I have to say all are super super delicious! Highly recommended this place and you won't be disappointed with this hidden gem!
google avatar

Laksana T.

Yelp
Order from UberEat- Nice place to get better Chinese noodles dishes in the Bronx. - Braised Beef noodles is delicious with a hints of Sichuan peppercorn - Dumplings are good! But little too pricey. - Marinate fried chicken is too salty *take one star off* - Braised Pork over rice, coworker said it's good.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
7.5/10 Braised beef noodle: good noodles, kind of like ramen noodles; not a fan of the peanuts, but everything else was good; pretty spicy, so didn't really taste the broth much, but not a particularly rich broth; bok Choy was not chopped, difficult to eat; beef could've been a bit more flavorful; nice spicy paste on the side; overall, good bowl, I was satisfied

Derek S.

Yelp
Good stuff - enjoyed our late night ramen and rice bowl. Clean place, great service and reasonable prices in the heart of Fordham in the Bronx.
google avatar

Gabrielle P.

Yelp
Love this place! Ordered the Szechuan braised beef noodles and it did not disappoint. Definitely had a good amount of spice but the flavors were so good. Definitely a go-to!
google avatar

Armando R.

Yelp
Went to this place wanting ramen but I didn't expect it to be so freaking good. Literally everything was amazing. You gotta be careful with the ramen with the 3 chili peppers. It's wayyy too hot!

Maki M.

Yelp
We found this place when we visited Bronx. Was looking for noodle place, but noodle dishes looked spicy so we ordered bowls. We ordered Pork soup dumplings, Karaage (Japanese style fried chicken) and braised pork over rice. All the food were so good!

Shane D.

Yelp
Food is ass and smells like shit dont ever buy food from here doesn't taste good either I wish I could give them 0 stars one of the worst places I've ever eaten from
google avatar

Jordan E.

Yelp
Alert, alert: things labeled spicy actually have some kick! The dumplings, noodles, and rice bowls we've had were all delicious. Also we had takeout and part of my order was forgotten by the driver, they sent someone back out to send it. A new go-to for takeout.
google avatar

Gedaliah V.

Yelp
The food is so delicious & flavorful! I ordered the braised beef spicy noodle, & my husband ordered the fried chicken rice bowl which left us amazed at how tender the meat tasted! We also ordered the spicy wontons in chili oil - chef's kiss!!
google avatar

Yelp
Glad I found this place. The food is excellent, the place is clean and the service is fantastic. Had the pork bowl over rice twice in two weeks and put this spot on to my co-workers. Great place right here in the Bronx.
google avatar

Yelp
Great customer service and amazing food. Very efficient as well. Haven't tried everything yet but I'm willing to try everything here.

Yuri Z.

Yelp
Love their Food for some reason I'm always craving their Spicy wontons I really love their ramens , fried chicken bowl. The lady in the front can try to be a little more attentive to costumers. The restaurant is small & very clean. I would recommend this restaurant if you want some good Asian food

Sharif A.

Yelp
The food is great and the atmosphere is welcoming the service is up to par can't wait to go back and try something else

Conner J.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Such a rare find in the Bronx. Will absolutely come again. Great service too!

Yelp
I ordered the other via Grub hub and wanted to come to the restaurant. Well worth the trip. Really, really recommend it.

Yelp
We went there yesterday for takeout; all I can say is OMG AMAZING. This place is always clean, they have great customer service, and they are always helpful. We ordered the Braised Pork Bowl, soup dumplings, and the braised beef noodle soup. The food was great flavorful, the pork was tender, and the soup was delicious.
