"There is only one dish on the menu at Zhou’s Guilin Ricenoodle: Guilin-style rice noodles served as a noodle soup or with broth on the side. The quintessential bowl is topped with beef and crispy pork." - Cathy Chaplin

Google
My favorite goto after work comfort food restaurant, I don’t understand why someone giving them one star for not opening. My favorite is the pork stomach noddle soup, the manager is probably the one of the nicest person I ever met, the place is clean and cozy. I would keep supporting the local good restaurants like this.

Google
As a 桂林 native, this place hits. We've only ever had the #1 dry noodles with crispy pork and beef, which are the quintessential toppings. Takeout has always been stellar, but dine in has recently been very good as well.

Google
I had the number one combo as everyone seems to start with and it was delicious. I showed up the day before (Tuesday) but they were closed. I arrived for a late lunch, just before two. You enter from the rear parking lot and through the kitchen where an elderly couple are doing everything. I ordered with them and sat in the dining room up front. Noodles came up fast and were delicious. My Chinese was useless but didn't matter. Noodles and two drinks were $15. Recommend

Google
Worst place if u ever expect any service. No service in general as you look for ur own seating, then wait until they come to clean the table, yep, the table was not clean. No server, only one man come to ask for order. Suggesting them only do take outs. Food: slicing beef is the only good one. Too much oil, not healthy oil* Worst part is when we tried to pay the check, force us to put the tip together with the order amount instead of swipe the card for order first, then sign the tip. The lady just saying something like, afraid of us not paying the tip, and start asking us to pay the 15% tip together with the order amount. Such bully until we called the police. When officer came, the restaurant then okay to swipe with the order amount first.

Google
Good but Hunan Chili King is way better. They forgot our picked green beans in our noodle dishes and were reluctant to believe their mistake. The noodles here are good but #1 is probably the best. The soup noodles are unfortunately average at best

Google
This is a solid 3 stars restaurant. The rating is based on the similar kind of restaurant. The food was very tasty and I feel they over did it. A lighter taste would make it perfect. The service was a typical economical Chinese restaurant service and there was no surprise to me. The restaurant was pretty clean and I felt comfortable dinning there. There is a parking lot at the rear of the building.

Google
Can’t go wrong with anything here. Food came out quick, got both the fry and soup noodles and both were delicious. Amazing service from really kind people. Can’t recommend enough!

Google
The food here was amazing!! My partner and I got the #1 and #7, both were delicious. Noodles were the perfect chewy texture, and overall was not too salty. The flavor builds up nicely as you eat. Their green beans and hot sauce are the delicious garnish that pulls the dish together. The broth dish was a little lighter than the dry noodles. Family owned, and the woman owner is super nice!!! Love this spot. Parking in the back. Sign is in Chinese. Currently cash only. They are setting up their cc machine, but there is a Bank of America across the street.

Yelp
The wife loves Guilin noodles. She was looking for something that she felt was authentic to her taste buds. She feels like this is the best spot around. We had a bad experience with another shop down the street. We gravitated here and never looked back. We went to Guilin a few years back, and eating a bowl of these noodles took us right back to that moment. I love how food can create new memories and remind you of old memories as well. I highly recommend these noodles!

Yelp
Monterey Park, CA. I love ZG Ricenoodle. Recently I've been visiting the San Gabriel Valley area for options and find places to eat there have been great finds. The SGV features a selection of dining options from, Thai, Japanese, Viet, Malay, regional Chinese, Indo, fusion, etc etc etc to many tea and boba joints and now one of my favorites is a mom and pop called ZG rice noodle. The restaurant clearly looks it from the outside, small, simple vibe. Once inside it's a bit more modern, a quick lunch place that you can/would frequent--- if the food is good. Turns out the food just sang to me. This rice noodle dish originated from Guilin, China. As a moderate meat eater I found my bowl to have the right amount of meat and peanuts were also added as an accent. I loved the sauce, very good and different, had flavors of cinnamon, ginger, orange --- super delicious. You arrive, the owner seats you and the adventure begins. In addition to a unique sauce, the rice noodle bowl I ordered had delicious smoked beef, crispy pork belly, marinated egg, very nice preserved veggies, and chili. The chili sauce is powerful so I recommend tasting it first before you mix it into your bowl. Service was a tad slow when I was there. Hope it gets better when on my next visit. Definitely want to return. End of Yelp.

Yelp
Came over here recommended from a foodie friend. Now I start wondering the persons taste in general...lol. I ordered the special Guilin rice noodle w/beef and crispy pork. The pork is actually deep fried pork rinds other than pork meat. 豬油渣 w/no flavor. Fried peanuts taste very oily other than fresh. Noodles is dried w/no flavor at all. Server will grab a doze of fermented red chili sauce as of condiment as well diced pickled string beans if you like. It's very salty yet is helping a lot to kick up a taste of the noodles. It's also served with/a bowl of hot soup. It's just taste as oily hot water... Cucumber Salad: Slices of cucumber drizzled with/ lots of thick dark vinegars on the top. It's just a weird dish. Price is reasonable but food is not. Sorry, Traditional Guilin Noodles across street is a much better choice. Special Guilin rice Noodles is served in diced real bacons for taste, it's garnished with/ fresh fried crunchy peanuts and flavorful pickled string beans.

Kellie C.

Yelp
Food is amazing! I especially love how crispy the pork skin is. I recommend dining in since the portion for the take out is slightly too much (not that it's a bad problem it's just I can't finish it). The noodles come with crispy pork, mustards, peanuts, and more meat! You also get a bowl of soup on the side. Great place for lunch! There's a good amount of seating and it's never too busy here. Just like most restaurants in Monterey Park, know what you want, order it fast, and enjoy.

Jack L.

Yelp
Small little restaurant in the SGV which serves the rare Guiling rice noodle soup dish.. But the service is terrible.. Of the two times I've come, very rude service.. One friend didn't want cilantro (defective genetics lol) and was met with a "might as well not eat" rudely in Chinese. Still, food was good, but I'm not sure if I'd come back.

Kate T.

Yelp
Great experience at Zhou's Guilin Rice-noodle. I ordered Roast Beef Rice Noodle Soup and my girlfriend ordered Beef & Crispy Pork Rice Noodle. Both dishes exceeded our expectations. With the price at $13 a piece, I highly recommend this newly opened restaurant and will come back soon.

Yelp
I love this restaurant because they have the Guilin noodles I've been desperately searching for. There used to be a restaurant next to my workplace that I'd go every week just because it was so good. I love how savory the noodles are but they can be a little greasy for some people. The meats are also really good (you have the option between various cuts of beef and pork). It's all very tasty, and you have the option to add some spicy red pepper to it. This restaurant really feels like a home that's been repurposed to serve food so don't expect anything too fancy. The feel is super nostalgic and the servers remind me of my family members. You definitely can't beat the price or service here. My only complaint is parking can be limited and difficult. In summary, highly recommend.

Yelp
Recently found this hidden gem in Monterey Park! This charming little establishment is a true mom-and-pop restaurant, and it's like a warm, comforting hug from your parents or grandparents. The noodles here, whether dry or in soup, evoke that homely, homemade goodness that's hard to come by in the hustle and bustle of modern dining. During my visit, I opted for the dry noodles with beef and crispy pork, and let me tell you, it was a flavor-packed delight. The sauce was a savory masterpiece, and the crispy pork added a wonderful crunch to the dish. Make sure to arrive early, especially during the lunch rush. This place can get quite bustling, and they're operating with a small but dedicated staff, so patience is key. The wait might be a bit longer than you're used to, but trust me, the food is worth every minute. In a nutshell, if you're on the hunt for authentic, homey noodles that transport you to the kitchens of your childhood, this is the place to be. I highly recommend!

Kristy W.

Yelp
Best rice noodle in LA. Had tried other places, zhou still my top favorite. Can't say about service because I only ordered to go.

Elena M.

Yelp
Writing the review because the current rating doesn't do them justice. Was recommended this place by a friend from Beijing who said she can't even find anything this authentic of the region of Guilin in Beijing. Service was prompt, food came super quickly, portion was huge (I couldn't finish it and my husband barely did), and food was delicious as excepted. Two things to note: - water is available for self-serve - they might charge the tips directly but they asked me first what percentage

Diana T.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE me and the owner never understand eachother due to language barrier but their food is just... amazing.. This is my favorite go to guilin rice noodle place. Their portions are amazing. They did bump up the price from when I first went to them during Covid but it's ok it's prob due to inflation. They also have AC now, before they didn't so this was amazeball. I always get whichever with the crispy pork. Whichever combo I feel that day. As long as it has cripsy pork and I ask for a ton of chili! Yummm can't wait to go back :)

Michelle N.

Yelp
We made a take out order via phone and only to be overcharged the intended amount on the receipt. I've should've been properly charged $19.82, however it got bumped up to $20 without any of my knowledge. That's a really shady move to earn a couple cents more. Will not return.

Yelp
開開心心的吃了一半 發現鋼絲球 我也是醉了‍ 希望店家能不能注意一下衛生 好吃是好吃 味道也算是中上了跟我去桂林吃的味道差不多Guilin Rice NoodleCrispy Peanuts Pork Belly

Elizabeth Y.

Yelp
Another hidden gem in Monterey Park!! This is a mom and pop restaurant and the noodles taste just like the home cooked ones from parents or grandparents! They have dry noodles and soup noodles. I got the soup noodles with intestines and it was delicious! Come here early because they can get quite busy during lunch and they're short staffed so it can take awhile to get your food. Yum!

Yelp
This place is quite literally a hidden hole in the wall place! If you're looking for super authentic dry Guilin rice noodles this is absolutely the spot! It's located in a tiny strip mall on Garfield/Newmark between the nail salon and dentist. NOTE currently during covid they only takes orders directly in the back parking lot from the gated kitchen door. Or you can try to call your order in for pickup. There is a line that forms outside the door in the parking lot. Yes it's an family business with only a husband and wife and cash only place. You'll need to bring your Chinese speaking friend or i guess you can point on the menu since they don't speak English here. The must order is the #1 Beef & Crispy Pork Rice noodle. This is sliced braised beef and chopped crispy pork belly served with pickled Chinese green beans, hot sauce, crispy peanuts topped with cilantro and green onions all served on rice noodles. It's also comes with a side bok choy ginger soup. The hot sauce chili's is super addictive! It's like sour yet mildly spicy along with the pickled beans and crispy peanuts/pork belly its just the perfect bite. The auntie is super nice too as many people are eating in the parking lot since they currently are not open during covid. She comes out to check on people and gives refills on side dishes or soup if you want some. It's like mom's cooking at home here so good.

Yelp

J Y.

Yelp
Most authentic Guilin noodles in all of America. We have tried so many other places but nowhere compares. Owner is nice.

T B.

Yelp
Called police on them because they try to force us to charge "service fee" with the meal price. 20 years in the states never had this kind of experience. The owner had so much bullshit to say yet had no service like other comment said. Should have saved my time.

Angel L.

Yelp
Today I finally went to Zhou's Rice Noodles in Monterey City. Not only is the rice noodles delicious, the lady boss is also very friendly. I arrived before the store opened, Seeing that I had difficulty moving, the lady boss opened the door in advance and asked me to sit down and wait. After the takeout was ready, she helped me. she took the 2 lunch boxes and me into the car, and fastened my seat belt on the lunch boxes ,she is very kind and considerate.

Shi C.

Yelp
This is the best Guilin rice noodles in LA, but at the same time, this is also one of the worst experiences for me to order. I have tried it many times, whether it's dine-in or takeout. When I go to dine in, they never seem to have prepared any materials every time whether weekday or weekends. When ordering take out, they will always say that 20 minutes can be done, but every time it is way more than 30 minutes or sometimes even more than an hour.

Mei W.

Yelp
The rice noodles are okay, but bad experience here. However, they forced us to pay for 15% tips. The owner just added to our total and refuse to give us the option to put the tips on our own. I think giving 15% tips is fair, but they shouldn't force us to do so. never going back. btw, i just looked at their yelp page, and noticed that they have so many 1 star reviews. this is not cool.

David H.

Yelp
Nice family run noodle shop in Monterey Park. Their specialty is Guilin noodles , dry or soup based. I have tried several Guilin noodles in the area and this is my favorite. Not easy to find even though on a Main Street as signage is in Mandarin. Ordered crispy park and pork belly dry, added the extra fresh chili, overall great fast and portion sizes with very reasonable price , comes with a small soup broth on the side. No frills simple restaurant but taste is on point. Recommend

Lee E.

Yelp
-The food was great! Amazing! Outstanding! Authentic! Fantastic! $13 for my rice noodles (Vegetarian version should have tofu skin but by the time I got there they had already sale them out, which is fine, I still got my Guilin noodles!) -They might just be raising the price a little bit due to 2020. You can always ask for the details. -Yes no one will most likely be serving you, you need to try to get that lady's attention to try to let your food in order ( if you choose to dining inside) -I always choose to go cuz I just love to enjoy my food in my cozy place with nobody talking loudly and walking around the place. ;) -Good food needs that quiet moment to enjoy it! If they don't have that environment, I create one! Don't choose to complain, if you do care so much about that environment, stop by now just go to check out Michelin star restaurant...:) -There is probably only 3 people running this place, and they're all busy at the busy moment (breakfast, lunch, dinner, gosh always...) making food, preparing food or handling food out& get everyone's order ( that lady probably do all of them, so how about expecting that " bad attitude " from her! Then say:" Thank you! Appreciate your work!" When you get your meals. -And try to enjoy the food here not the other things. I appreciate they still exist after the 2020 crisis..

Yelp
Good but Hunan Chili King is way better. They forgot our picked green beans in our noodle dishes and were reluctant to believe their mistake. The noodles here are good but #1 is probably the best. The soup noodles are unfortunately average at best

Gina C.

Yelp
Come here for the food not service. I have to walk to the kitchen everytime I need something. My noodle was a overcooked. Flavor is good and pretty authentic to the Guilin noodle I had in Guilin. The chili is very traditional made with fresh red peppers. I'll be back since I love Guilin noodle. I'll tell them not to overcook my noodles.

Rachel M.

Yelp
I'm so happy to find out this place on Yelp via "Hot & New". This is the most authentic chinese food I taste in SGV, other than dim sum. There is no English signage!! Look for chinese name "周记桂林米粉". I can come back and eat this everyday!! They house made the garlic chilly paste, be careful it's spicy!! Vy nice and clean restaurant and food is amazing! Guilin rice noodle is not the same as normal rice noodle. They are more al dente and slippery. First you start with dry mixed noodle with the meat, eat until almost half is gone, then you can add the soup there which make it into soup noodle. Just order #1 beef & roasted pork rice noodle!! Cash only

Felix L.

Yelp
Auntie Zhou moved her new place to MP and continue offering tasty rice noolde . The roasted pork is crsipy and full of aroma. The beef were cut thin enough and after dipping in the house soup base make it a great combination. The noodle portion ia huge, but with the sour bean sprout, chopped chili balance the portion make you just want to go on and on. Auntie Zhou did offer a new style on the roasted pork so if you prefer the original style make sure you let her know when placing your order. Great taste and same family style!

Yelp
I was craving for some Guilin Rice Noodle and based on my research from various sources, it is said that this place is one of the most authentic places in LA. Despite all the horrifying comments I read on Yelp, Google and Red (a Chinese social media app), I decided to give this place a shot and drove almost an hour there. I was ready to be yelled at and deal with the bad attitude that everyone said the lady (owner?) has (Yes, that's the sacrifice I am willing to have for good food lol). I arrived on a Friday at around 1:45pm. The store wasn't that busy. The lady and the chefs were all in the kitchen and obviously no one was there to sit me. I waited a bit and decided to go into the kitchen to ask if I could dine in. I talked to the lady and was mentally prepared for her bad attitude. Surprisingly, she was fine. There was no attitude at all and she told me to sit down. I waited a bit more and she finally came over and asked what I wanted. I ordered one of the #1 for dine-in and another #1 to go. The dishes came pretty quickly and the portion looked big enough for me. I read it on many comments that the lady tends to give the male bigger portion and female a smaller portion. I don't know if that is true but my portion seems fine. Looks standard. It tastes pretty good! The noodle was chewy and the toppings were all on-point. Is it the most authentic flavor? This one I am not sure but it tastes pretty good to me! Whenever she brings out the noodle for customers, she will also bring a jar of chili i sauce and put a scoop on your noodle if you want it spicy. I really like that chili sauce and it looks like they made it in house. Overall, I am very happy with the taste and I definitely think I will come back for it. There are some concerns about the cleanliness in the kitchen and it looked fine to me when I walked pass it to the bathroom. None of the chefs were wearing gloves though and I wasn't paying attention if the lady washed her hands after collecting cash from customers. But in terms of the cleanliness of the environment, it was fine. Overall I was happy with my experience and the lady didn't have any attitude towards me at all. She was actually quite nice the day I went. Maybe she was in a good mood. I would say though, when you get there, don't just try to wait at the entrance to be seated. It seems like there is not really any "server" and everyone is working in the kitchen because it seems like they have a lot of to-go phone orders. Just go right into the kitchen (or whenever else you see her) and tell her you want to dine in and sit down. Also, I didn't see anyone get served water. Everyone who was drinking any liquid there were all beverages from their fridge. I don't even know if they will serve you water. $13 for the #1 as of July 2021. There is plenty of parking in the back and cash only.

George W.

Yelp
Always a pleasure to eat here. The food is never bad. If you like spicy, ask for extra spoon full of chili. The only issue is the potential for a long wait because this is an owner ran business.

Sarah A.

Yelp
Very bad service the owner is so rude!!! Went there at lunch time with my mom and the kids sat down for 15 mins no one was helping us, and I had to grab the menu and still no one taking the order so I went to the counter and try to order the food but the owner is very rude and told me go sit down, I told her we been waiting more than 15 mins and I keep waving my hand no one wants to help us and I tried to order you still don't want to help me! How can you do business like that!? She goes" none of your business "!!! I got so pissed so we just left afterwards!!!! Wth is that!! RUDE!!!! Nve

Elliot P.

Yelp
Food here is consistently delicious. I recommend the #1 and watch out the chilies are spicy. Reviews about bad service at asian restaurants always make me laugh. Be patient and kind to the lady and enjoy the food.

William L.

Yelp
Owner's service was terrible. We waited for a long time to be serviced. The owner just ignored us. She also served us a wrong order. When I argued with her. She just said if I don't like then don't come. BTW, they take cash only. Very bad experience.

Alexander L.

Yelp
Service is so bad. We arrived 3 pm in the afternoon and wasn't very hungry, so we wanted to order 1 rice noodle for 2 of us. Owner told us we have to order 2 noodle which really shocked us. We ended up leaving. There are plenty of other restaurants out there. BTW we entered from the back and saw that their kitchen is very dirty. They use their bare hands to prepare food. Never coming back again.

Jing F.

Yelp
Best noodles! Loved it, but very slow, make sure you have two hours to spend. Make sure you ask the price, the menus prices do not match what they charge.

Zhou S.

Yelp
The boss tries to avoid paying taxes, and only accepts cash for purchases under $20! I'll report it to the IRS to look into it.

R G.

Yelp
The most amazing noodles. Sweet mom and pop shop. The best I've ever had. Get the number 1!!

Brenda C.

Yelp
Best Guilin rice noodle in LA. Highly recommend it! Called to place an order. It was ready in 10 mins. We ordered the beef, beef with intestines and beef with bbq pork. It has a lot of flavor. Will definitely come back again! Only complaint is Cash only though!

Jane K.

Yelp
Food is great! Not like any Guilin rice noodle I have ever tasted! Don't mind the owner's attitude she is just like that. Sometimes the place closes and usually closes in Tuesday, so if u want to go you probably need to find some other day of the week and try your luck. Don't go too late though every usually sells out by 4:30 because the owner says the noodles are limited supply and hard to get nowadays.

Vicky Z.

Yelp
I went to this place ard 11am and their front door was closed. We went around to the back and saw their back door was open and people were inside. We asked if we can do a dine in and they were fine with it. Me and my sister both ordered number 1 and it was great! The food portion was just the right size. Service was quick and the owner was super friendly.

Claire L.

Yelp
Cash only place with no receipts. Food is ok, but service was terrible. We asked for water and the waitress just shook her head. Also they skimped out on our bowl of noodles since we didn't look like regulars. No egg or pickled vegetables in our bowls, what we got didn't look like what was advertised on the menu and what other people got.

Gabriel V.

Yelp
Really recommend this restaurant for Guilin style rice noodles if you are around Monterey Park! Usually we get the guoshao niurou mifen. They accept both card and cash now.

David H.

Yelp
Service is not as bad as people say when not busy. Portion of the noodle were huge! Soup base were good but were extremely thirsty afterwards. I would definitely come back again to try their other flavors.

Fay S.

Yelp
Delicious and very local, I love the dry rice noodle, will try the soup one next time. Had a great time!

Fay C.

Yelp
Hi hungry people! This place is legit. I'm from Guilin so trust me when I say this is as close as you'll get to authentic Guilin rice noodles in LA. Do yourself a favor and order #1 beef and crispy pork. You need to try the real deal first. I don't care if you want noodle soup. It comes with a bowl of soup. Dump it in the noodles afterwards if you really want noodle soup. I'm cutting back on meat so I usually order tofu instead of meat. Honestly, that's just me being stupid ordering anything other than the #1. So go try it. And avoid rush hours, the service can be slow when there are more than 4 groups of people in the restaurant.

Richard K.

Yelp
Lol ignore the last two comments below. This place is delicious af if you're into Chinese Guilin style rice noodle. I recommend getting the dry noodle with pork skin and pork meat, and the chili spice pairs perfectly with the noodles. For the service, it can be a hit or miss if the place gets busy because it's a mom and pop shop and the mom does all the heavy lifting of cooking and serving the customers. Tip: It's cash only. Should know how to speak mandarin or bring a friend who speaks mandarin. The owner (lady) only speaks mandarin but you could maybe get away using google translate or body language lol.

Kara F.

Yelp
Extremely Poor service! Let you stand and wait for over 10mins when there are available seats, then accused of you bringing beverage with you, asked you to take it back to car and came back. Very poor attitude!

Isabella Y.

Yelp
My Guilin friends have told me that this is the only authentic Guilin noodle place in LA. We go to eat there every weekend (not joking, having been going every weekend since May). The thing is that they are super busy so the attitude issue can be expected... the trick is to order takeout and call them ahead of time----so that once you get there you just take your noodles out and eat immediately. The sauce is on-point and the noodles omg the texture is so nice (the main reason why we go there every week). Oh and Cash only!

Helen H.

Yelp
Love the food like always!! The best Guilin Ricenoodle in LA!!!

Mabel M.

Yelp
The restaurant are empty, me and my friends went in (there's four of us) ordering 2 meals because we have plans later. The owner ask us to order to go and we are confuse because.....why? The end of the day she says we have to order 4 meals which makes me feels like I'm force to spend money here. We decided that we would just go somewhere else. She's really rude.
