As enthusiasts of all things prawn, Kitty and I had long anticipated a visit to Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co, a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient. We recently had the opportunity to finally try the food as we had Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co saved on our Google Map for a long time. And during our trip to Garmin service Cnetre, we had a chance to drop by to try their food. Upon arrival, the establishment had a diverse menu and many people that ate there were having the clay pot versions. This one location coffee shop had a decent variety of dishes, as you can see in the photos I've uploaded.
The liver roll was a standout. It was deeply savory, and used pork liver instead of the usual ingredients. The store owner recommended that if we liked pork liver, we'd enjoy this dish. Kitty, who isn't usually a fan of liver, even tried it and said there was no unpleasant smell. She actually liked it. For the crispy prawn crackers, there wasn't an oily aftertaste. It was clean, and tasted great.
For the main dish, we opted for the popular, claypot prawn noodles. There were both versions, dry and wet. After confirming it with Kitty, we had the wet version. I was surprised to see that ingredients like clams, pork ribs and prawns were in their own claypot instead of being cooked together. The claypot added to the flavor of the entire dish. If we had known that, we would have order the dry version instead.
The Hokkien Mee was served in a claypot, and I can't put my finger on the taste because it was very unique compared to all the Hokkien Mee that I had eaten in the past.
The Hibiscus Orange beverage, which was recommended by the owner, arrived in a teapot, accompanied by two glasses. Unfortunately, it was served lukewarm, and halfway through our meal, it was practically cold. This was one detail that they had to work on.
In conclusion, Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co is an nice restaurant that deserves a visit if you like the above dishes that I have mentioned.
