The MICHELIN Guide Singapore Bib Gourmand 2024 Selection

"Zhup Zhup, formerly One Prawn & Co, still sees constant queues forming beneath its red awning. The signature prawn noodles come in a set: a bowl of noodles, plus rich prawn soup in a claypot. Out of the four types of noodles, the classic option is a combination of yellow noodles with thin bee hoon. The tasty soup is loaded with flavours, imparted by the tomalley of countless prawn heads." - The MICHELIN Guide

One Prawn & Co

"The constant queue under the red awning is a sign that this shop serves good hae mee. The signature prawn noodles come in a set: a bowl of noodles alongside rich prawn soup in a claypot. There are four noodles to choose from, but the classic order is yellow noodles with thin bee hoon. The soup is loaded with flavours, especially from the tomalley of countless prawn heads. Also try their ngoh hiang – the crispy prawn cracker is too good to miss." - Michelin Inspector

Overhyped. Underwhelming. Broth - failed. It looks thick but on taste, it’s the sugar type of sweetness which was building to a puke towards the end of the bowl. I go for umami meat sweetness taste but the broth here is simply sugar sweet and it feels like a thick concoction of prawn head juice with sugar. Overly pungent like 腥 and not 鲜. At $18 before GST and service charge for the pao fan, the prawns seems to be the small, regular size, quick freeze type, together with the lala clams. Hubby ordered the dried version of prawn noodles. Dried noodles was average, like any coffeeshop standard but wait… this is afterall a coffeeshop setting too. No aircon and really, it’s a coffeeshop. Overall, it’s not worth it. Simply overhyped. Will do better in terms of taste and prawn size with similar concept one at Killiney Road plus… there’s ac there!

Another Big B.

5 Fortune Jumbo Prawn with lovely seasoned yellow noodle mixed Kway Teow in dry version. The 5 fortune comprises jumbo prawns, seafood ball, sliced thick & collar bone pork slices & clams in rich broth is delicious. More Jumbo Prawn in our Paofan (Rice)- very flavorful with the umami seafood rich broth all soaked up by the rice. Crispy batter yet rich marinated juicy tender Har Cheong Gai - prawn paste chicken wings is finger licking good! Kinda expensive refreshing drinks we ordered but it’s a must to quench our heat - CALAMANSI Sour Plum & Sour Plum Prune Soda. A must to experience this popular many hours prep prawn rich broth. Dress lightly!

The broth really surprised me. I went in with normal expectations, but the moment I took the first sip, I could taste how naturally rich it was. The sweetness doesn’t feel artificial, It’s the kind that comes from real prawn flavour, slowly cooked until the depth really comes through. It has that comforting warmth that makes you pause for a second and go, “Wah… this is good.” What I like most is that it’s not overly salty or heavy. Even after finishing the whole bowl, it doesn’t leave that jelak feeling. Instead, the broth is clean yet full-bodied, with enough richness to feel satisfying. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

This has got to be an undisputed winner for prawn noodles. The soup is just like a good “Tonkatsu” equivalent to ramen - but in this case, it’s a thick creamy prawn broth simmering in a hot clay pot with really adds to the flavour of the overall dish. The portion was worth the price tag, with 3 big fresh prawns and 2 meaty/lean pork ribs, can’t get any better with proper and fresh ingredients! Highly recommend if you are craving any prawn noodles and you definitely won’t be disappointed with making a stop here! 💪🏼

Had a really good meal at Zhup Zhup — no wonder they’re a Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee! The flavours were bold yet comforting, and you can really taste the effort that goes into their rich, umami-packed broth. Here’s what we tried: 🍜 Dry Five Fortune Jumbo Prawn Mee / Kway Teow Mix – packed with wok hei and generous tiger prawns 🍲 Jumbo Prawn Paofan – warm, comforting, and full of seafood flavour 🍗 Har Cheong Gai – super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside 🥤 Calamansi Sour Plum Soda – bright and refreshing 🥤 Sour Plum Prune Soda – a great balance of sweet, salty, and tangy Service was quick and friendly, and the food came out piping hot. Highly recommend Zhup Zhup if you love prawn noodles, hearty broths, and comforting local flavours done right! 🦐✨

Tried the new Jumbo Menu at Michelin Bib-Gourmand Zhup Zhup and it was amazing! The Five Fortune Jumbo Prawn Noodles came loaded with tiger prawns, lala, pork ribs, shabu pork, and their signature prawn ball in rich broth – super flavourful and satisfying. The Jumbo Prawn Paofan was comforting with clams, egg floss, and plump prawns. We also had the Har Cheong Gai wings which were crispy and juicy. Drinks like Calamansi Sourplum and Yuzu Soda were refreshing and paired well with the food. Great portions, quality ingredients, and a must-try for seafood lovers in Singapore.

So I saw these zhup zhup prawn noodles blowing up on TikTok... and I had to try them! Here’s what happened. 🍲 I ordered the SUPREME PRAWN NOODLES three plump prawns, two tender pork ribs, lala (clams), and a generous portion of pork meat, plus an ice lemon tea to wash it all down. 🔸 The Noodles: I’m a bee hoon fan, so I went for that. The texture was perfect slightly chewy, and it soaked up the broth like a sponge. And the broth... oh man, it had that zhup zhup vibe. Thick, hearty, and packed with deep flavor salty, slightly sweet, and oh-so-satisfying. It wasn’t greasy either, just a touch of oil to make it rich. 🔸 The Prawns: Fresh and juicy! But honestly, I was hoping for a little more tenderness. They were solid but didn’t wow me. 🔸 The Tea: 🍋 Complete letdown. Watered-down tea with a sad lemon slice. No refreshing kick just bland. I’d rather grab a Pokka or Ant Band ice lemon tea. 💸 For nearly $30, I felt okay about it. The broth was definitely the highlight, but the prawns and the tea didn’t really justify the price. Would I recommend it? 🤔 If you’re a fan of rich broths and don’t mind splurging a little, it’s worth a try. But if you’re looking for a more balanced, satisfying meal there are better options out there. The new branding Zhup Zhup is very apt. The soup literally tastes as good as a rich prawn zhup! So full of flavour and umami. The dry prawn mee is tossed in a fragrant chilli paste with just the right kick. The prawns are fresh and plump, the noodles have a nice springy bite, and the portion is generous. From the noodles and pork slices to the lard bits, everything comes together so well. I also ordered a sharing ngo hiang plate for fun, and it really surprised me. The tofu, prawn cracker all done nicely, tasty and super crispy as if they are specialise in ngo hiangs!
