Busy for a reason, great food! Ashley served our table, and brought us toasted ravioli and main course dishes, quickly, even though we had a 20 minute wait (they use table ready pucks and texting to let you know you're table is ready). Food was well presented and tasty. With the large crowd the noise level was on the high side, but still enjoyed our meal and conversation. Street parking only, nut even a block or so gets you there np.

(12/30/25) Our second visit to Zia's did not disappoint. As was the first visit, everything was excellent. Food, service, servers (Jonathan D) and atmosphere was top notch. I had the Linguini Con Pesce, and it was superb. Portion size was large enough to enjoy a second meal at home. Parking was a bit tight, but that is to be expected, with an excellent restaurant. Our entire party was very pleased with our dining experience.

Google
The staff were friendly, and the place had a cozy atmosphere. Since I had a reservation, there was no waiting time. The complimentary bread was delicious, and the pasta and lamb dishes were very generous in portion size. I'd like to try a different tomato-based pasta dish next time.

Google
Fantastic experience at Zia’s on the Hill! The house salad is fresh and flavorful, the calamari fritti is perfectly crispy, and both the pasta con pesce and chicken saltimbocca are outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with that classic Italian-family feel The Hill is known for. The staff is friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations, which really adds to the experience. Great service, generous portions, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Google
Had dinner last night at Zia's. The service was friendly and prompt, but the food stole the show! We started with toasted ravioli, but no pictures, it was delicious, then I had Veal and my wife had Carbonara. Absolutely worth the wait!

Google
Hands down the best Italian food I've ever had. Really cool place in an awesome neighborhood. I had the chicken parm and it was life changing. The chicken breast was so tender and cooked to perfection.

We have a new favorite restaurant when we are on The Hill. Everything was absolutely fantastic! If I am stranded on a deserted island and only have one thing to eat, it would be their seafood ravioli with white garlic sauce. We are already making plans to come back.

Google
This is the type of restaurant that just makes me happy from the inside out. Excellent, authentic Italian in an unassuming setting with attentive and friendly staff. They also took extra care with my allergy, so I lived through the meal, a huge plus. I joked with my husband that we should just move to the hill so we can walk to Zia's for a meal every day, or at least every week. Just go. You will not regret it.

Yelp
Happy they are open for lunch, well rated & recommended by Yelpers. Zia has been on the hilll for 40 years & the restaurant is filled with old p. We found free parking on the corner. There were many dining rooms that we walked through. We shared a big Sicilian salad & cannelloni for lunch. Everything was exceptionally delicious! Portions were generous, our cannelloni meal was divided & prices were reasonable. Our lunch with tax & tip was $40.. Katie, our waitress was personable, efficient & exceptional.

Yelp
My daughter and I were in town to attend a concert, and I was craving Italian. This restaurant came highly rated by fellow Yelpers and I was stoked to give them a try. I reviewed the menu ahead of time, but once onsite we were swayed by the day's specials. I went for the Lasagna (I'm a sucker for lasagna), and my daughter had the Short Rib Ravioli. Both came with a side salad with the house dressing. They ONLY have the house dressing. That was my one and only disappointment. The house dressing was super-sweet which, for me, rendered the salad inedible. Salt and pepper were no match for the sugar content. We were also served bread with seasoned olive oil. Everything, except for the salad, was amazing. Chef's kiss! The lasagna featured a local favorite...provel cheese. It was an interesting choice that I'm not sure everyone would love, but I haven't met a cheese that I didn't like. The restaurant had a real, old-world type of charm and the place was full of locals. That is always a very good sign. Our server was attentive and made us feel extremely comfortable and welcomed. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her dish, as did I. I look forward to returning when next in the area.

Yelp
We visited the St Louis area for a weekend trip and tried Zia's. It was fantastic! Service was great, great environment and awesome food! Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in at Zia's for dinner Friday night. My wife had the mostaccioli Al forno. It was creamy and cheesy with bacon ,chicken, broccoli, and tomato. It was baked with seasoned bread crumbs on top. It was absolutely delicious. I was so glad she shared it with me. I had the fried fish plate on served on Friday. The fish was tender and flaky with a Crispy breading. The side dish of white pasta was great. We also split a house salad that was very good. Anthony our server was great. He was not hovering and easily found when needed. We had a booth that was clean and comfortable. The feature beer was a shafly white ale that was awesome. It had been years since we had dined here and it was just as good as remembered.

Yelp
Always a go to for Italian food! They have an amazing Sicilian salad! I love pimentos and artichoke in my salad and it's always good. The pasta dishes and bread are always top notch! The service is always super friendly and the restaurant is always clean!

Yelp
My Italian food craving has been filled, thanks to Zia's! I have very fond memories of visiting this place with my family when I was little. I was randomly craving Italian food on a Friday night, and luckily for my partner and me, we live very close to the Hill! While I love the ambiance of the Hill, I had a long day at work and decided it was a takeout kind of night. We placed our order online for pickup, and it was ready to go right on time. They use high quality packaging for their to-go orders, which is very much appreciated. My partner ordered a baked pasta with meat sauce and meatballs. I had pasta with meat sauce. SO good. I love their sauce, and I'm fortunate you can buy it in stores. Their bread is so pillowy soft and pairs nicely with the pasta. We also ordered their take on mozzarella sticks. You must try these. They are seriously so flavorful. We also split a slice of tiramisu for dessert. Fabulous all around!

Yelp
Went on a busy Saturday night and it was packed! Totally to be expected. Waited way longer than we were quoted but got sat immediately after we asked for an update. Pretty sure they forgot about us...nonetheless the service was great. Out server Ian was friendly, quick, attentive, and helpful. Food was just alright. Didn't feel authentic or made with love. I got the Penne Salsiccia and it was pretty much a bowl of butter with noodles in it. Not the most aesthetically pleasing or appetizing. Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their meals but we were also starving from waiting so long. Overall, not a horrible restaurant just not a great experience. Other than the service.

Yelp
This place could use a refresh. The tables are all worn and I don't really like the food that much. The service was great and the bread is always a winner but my pasta was boring. The best thing was the meatballs.

Yelp
Delicious as always!!! We were sat right away and quickly got our appetizer (arancini). Our service was so kind and informative. We got the seasonal specials both were excellent. I can't recommend this place more!!

Yelp
Only 5 stars. I am unable to go higher as Yelp allows a maximum of 5 stars. We found street parking outside. Parking was not an issue at all. My wife and I shared their Sicilian salad and their cannelloni. Both were nothing short of exceptional! Katie our waitress was personable and spot on about her recommendations. She also gave us a QR code about what to see on The Hill. Old pictures filled the restaurant and there is ample room here. Our lunch including tip was $40. Definitely worth it!

Yelp
My friends and I had a nice dinner here the other night. I am so glad I made a reservation because it was busy and there would have definitely been a wait for a table! Parking is a nightmare (it's the hill) so I parked about 3 blocks away and walked to the restaurant. When I arrived and got checked in with the hostess, I let her know I was waiting for the other people so when they arrived, we were then walked over to a booth and she let us know our server would be over shortly. The booth was all torn up so it looked a little dingy, but I didn't see any other table or booth open, so we took it. One of the servers brought over some water and made sure we had menus and silverware. Then, our server, Jon came over to help us. He took our drink order and gave us time to review the menu. I also asked for an app when he took our drink order because I was hungry! Jon was a nice guy and took good care of us. He was very busy and we saw him walking all around quickly to help all of his tables. He brought our drinks over and let us know our app would be out soon. When the app was brought out, it looks great. I ordered the crostini which had a great flavor thanks to the cream cheese, peppers and shrimp - I would definitely get it again. Others at the table also enjoyed the app. Jon came over and told us about the specials and then took our dinner orders. Of course, we all asked for their house salad which he was more than happy to tell us about and let us know how good it would be. He also told us he would bring out some bread. As promised, he brought out some bread and shortly after the salads. I am glad I was catching up with friends, because the wait for food was long. I think it was well over 20-25 minutes before our meals were delivered and the bowl/plate that my meal was on was super hot which makes me think it sat under the heat lamp for a long time. Of course the food was delish so I am not that upset about it, but all 3 of our plates were super hot and so we just all assumed the food sat for a bit before a runner was able to bring them out. Food was really good, but plentiful so I was able to take a few bites of my meal and then I needed a to go box. I also ordered the cannolis for dessert which I enjoyed later that night with a hot cup of tea. Were they good? Yes. But would I get them again? Probably not. I did not really care for the filling. But they hit the sweet spot that I needed.

Yelp
I traveled with some friends to St. Louis for a convention and were excited to hear from the locals about a highly recommended Italian restaurant called Zia's. Arriving without a reservation around 5:20 PM on a Thursday, we found ourselves in a bit of a bind, waiting until nearly 7 PM to be seated. During the wait, we huddled around a small table in the bar area, which wasn't the most comfortable spot, but it did provide an opportunity for some good people-watching. Once we were seated, things took a turn for the better. A friendly busser quickly brought us water, and having had plenty of time to study the menu, we were ready to order our delicious food when our waitress arrived. Although the restaurant was busy, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly the dishes arrived. We may be in the outs for our opinion on the house salad dressing, it wasn't to our taste--it was oddly sweet and not quite what we were expecting. However, the meatball appetizer was a highlight; it was so delicious that my teenage son made sure to savor every last bit of sauce with the warm bread provided. For the main courses, we chose chicken piccata, Cantaloni, and seafood pasta, and all dishes were wonderful. Our only regret was not being able to reheat their generous leftovers, as we didn't have that option at our hotel. We were too full to even think about dessert, but we absolutely want to return to Zias if we find ourselves in town again. It is important to make a reservation ahead of time.

Yelp
The bread is great; perfectly cooked and flavorful! The table olive oil and herbs is great, but could use a little salt. The arancini appetizer was good, but you only get 4. The calamari is a huge portion size, cooked correctly, and comes with a lite butter and marinara. I would probably not order it again. Warning: the dinner salad is sweet. I do not like a sweet salad so I was not into it. The tuttomare pasta was really good. Great flavor profile. The mostaccioli al forno was excellent! Would definitely order it again! The service was great! Our wait was about 50 minutes on a Saturday (coming in at 1PM.)

Yelp
Zia's came recommended from a friend who frequents St. Louis so I had dinner there. It was a weeknight and they weren't very busy. During busier times a reservation is recommended. Parking is on the street and is free. This restaurant is in a neighborhood with many Italian eateries known as The Hill. Inside it has a full bar and then 2 dining areas all located in an old structure. This restaurant has a dark look with windowless dining rooms. I ordered the Spiedini Proscuitto entree for $22. First to arrive was the complimentary bread basket with French bread and delicious butter. Yum! 5 minutes later a house salad arrived that came with the meal. It was nice sized with romaine and iceberg along with diced red peppers and Italian and parmigiana cheeses along with house dressing. This salad was very good with a lot of cheese on top. I am not complaining. The entree arrived less than 15 minutes later. It was several pieces of marinated and chargrilled chicken breast with white wine lemon butter sauce and mushrooms, ham and Italian cheeses. The meal also included a bowl of pasta shells in olive oil and garlic. I enjoyed this entree. The chargrilled chicken and ham had good flavor and mixed well with the other ingredients. The pasta shells did have a nice hint of garlic. This was a very good tasting meal and a value at just $22. Table service was prompt and professional. I understand why Zia's is so popular and would be happy to return,

Yelp
Very friendly staff with quick and attentive service. First time trying toasted ravioli and they didn't disappoint! My meal was a cheesy pasta with grilled chicken, bacon, broccoli, and tomato. It was very rich and flavorful.

Yelp
Everything was great about this place, classic rustic country Italian on the inside, the wait staff nicely dressed and very friendly, and really good food. I had the baked ravioli which was in a creamy tomato garlic sauce, my brother and mother shared the baked spaghetti, and my other brother had the creamy seafood pasta which looked really good and pretty big. We had salads with the house made dressing which was a slightly sweet lemon vinaigrette. They served bread as an appetizer and there was a small bottle of herb infused olive oil and a small Shaker of parmesean on the table. For the Italian food lover, this place is a must try for sure.

Yelp
This was the second stop of our adventure on the Hill. I only ate half my sandwich at Giola's to save room for Zia's. I'm really glad that I did! We walked in and grabbed seats at the bar. It was toward the end of lunch time and it was the day after Christmas, so the crowd in the bar area was pretty thin. The bartender was nice and gave us a good recommendation for our white wine, which was very reasonably priced for a big pour. My wife ordered a salad that she was very excited about. I got the baked pasta with montaccioli and meatballs. When I say St. Louis knows their Italian cooking - I mean it. This was excellent! Despite already eating half a hearty sandwich, I wolfed down a lot of this dish, and saved the rest for lunch a few days later. While I would prefer to eat this fresh, it did reheat really well. The bread was good too! I think Zia's would make an excellent dinner date spot or a place the family can all go. Can't wait for my next visit to the Hill.

Yelp
I can't remember the gentleman's name that we had for our server. I think it was Jim or Tim. I'm probably completely wrong. But my main point is that he was fantastic and went above and beyond. I liked his personality. He would ask us if he should grab something. It would make a funny comment like I promise I'm not doing anything I don't mind. Very personable gentleman who went above and beyond. We ordered toast. It was so good. Calamari was perfect. My two friends got the chicken spidieni and absolutely loved it with the white sauce. I got the chicken Soto, which was very good if you're a mushroom lover highly recommend. We were too full for dessert Their bread and butter was delicious. It was like a creamy butter. Highly recommend coming here for a date night or night with the girls

Chris K.

Yelp
What can I say. Everything on the hill is great. But this is so far the best I've had. The veal parm was amazing. The staff was so nice. The atmosphere was old timey. Get your table reserved a week in advanced. But they keep many tables open for walk in. Just fabulous. A must go.

Yelp
This was the first and last time my family and I ate at Zia's on the hill. With a long reputation of great salads and pasta we were very excited to dine here! We were first greeted with the smell of dirty and sticky floors. We overlooked that due to a lot of the buildings on The Hill have "character". Our server Ian was not attentive to our table and took about 10 minds to greet us. I ordered the Spiedini Prosciutto, my mother ordered the chicken Parm, my father ordered the beef Cannelloni, and my partner ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. We got our pre dinner salads and I was disgusted with the amount of wet and soggy lettuce. In the picture you can tell just how much water was in the bowl. Absolutely horrendous. when our main course arrived my mother's chicken parm was stone cold, my course looked and tasted like wet dish water thickened with corn starch. The quality of prosciutto was close to a high-school cafeteria, and they used CANNED MUSHROOMS. Yuck . My partners fettuccine tasted and smelled like LITERAL MOVIE THEATER POPCORN. The most strange thing we've all tasted. Luckily my father actually enjoyed his meal! The server Ian apologized for the quality and commented about the wait for some items. He then brought the manager over. He never introduced himself. I had to ask our server Ian and he told me his name was Brad! He started the convo with "so I hear we don't like our food" As someone with leadership experience you should always never start a conversation with an accusation or any sort of hostility Brad. He stated that the food looks like it normally does when it comes out, but he asked if we wanted him to take it away. We let him take the dishes away and he was nice enough to take it off the bill. I've always heard people recommend Zia's but it will no longer be on our list of fresh and delicious Italian. It lacked the feel of authentic dishes and felt more like a falling apart restaurant from Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares! I urge you if you read this review. Go somewhere else. This does not represent True Italian cuisine.

Yelp
If you are craving old-school Italian cooking that feels like a warm embrace, look no further than Zia's "On The Hill." This beloved St. Louis staple is a true homage to Italian-American tradition: hearty portions, mouthwatering dishes, and hospitality like you are part of the family. The food in Zia's is nothing short of spectacular. Their house-made pastas, rich sauces, and perfectly seasoned meats speak to generations of passion for good food. Among the appetizers, a local favorite is the Toasted Ravioli, which is crispy, golden, and full of flavor. The Pasta con Broccoli is a creamy, comforting classic, while Chicken Spiedini is tender, smoky, and full of flavor. And let's not start with the Cannoli--crispy shells with sweet, velvety ricotta that will have you dreaming of Sicily. Portions are very generous, so you can be sure to leave with a full belly and perhaps a box of leftovers later. It is not all about quantity, though-the quality of each dish is spotless, made with much care and authentic ingredients. The service is only matched by the food. The staff at Zia's treat you like a long-lost friend, ready to make your experience unforgettable. Whether it is to recommend a wine pairing, accommodate dietary preferences, or simply check in with a smile, their attention to detail elevates the meal to something truly special. On this trip we had the Calamari Fritti which was perfectly prepared and the parmigiana and lemon butter sauce added to the delicate taste! Their fettuccini Alfredo and Tutto Mare are exquisitely prepared and provide a true taste of Italy. In the heart of The Hill, St. Louis's historic Italian neighborhood, Zia's is so much more than a restaurant-it's an experience. If you're in town, you simply can't pass it up. Zia's is one of those places where you can come in as a stranger and leave as part of the family, with full bellies from some of the best Italian food around. Buon appetito!

Yelp
Stopped in as a 2 top on a busy Saturday afternoon without a reservation. No problem on a 40 minute wait since we had a bar room high top to wait it out. Bartender and busboy eres attentive to our walk up libations and appetizer order of arincini (delicious). Sat in dining room and served by Alyssa, who took great care of us.. We had chicken saltambuca with salad and white pasta sides and chicken parm sandwich with red pasta side. Finished with two small cannolis. Didn't realize we hadn't taken a photot after it was all gone. LOL The Hill is a great Italian neighborhood with other eateries ND cafes to explore and walk off the calories. Enjoy!

Yelp
My mom's birthday was yesterday and she wanted the family to go to Zia's for a special treat today. We braved the crazy narrow streets and holiday traffic of the Hill, and had a fantastic experience. (Btw, I talked to a few staff members and they confirmed the Holidays are nuts, but things really free up in Jan. So that might be a good time to take in this amazing restaurant.) First, we had a 30 or so min wait because we were a table of 6. We sat in the bar area and ordered toasted raviolis and cheese garlic bread apps from the bar tender. Super easy, came out fast, and were really good. He got us all waters too, which was nice. Place was packed and we realized the walking areas are pretty narrow. Would be hard for someone to navigate if in a wheelchair. So keep that in mind. But anyway, we were seated at a big round booth that probably could have seated 8 or even 10. Although the room was packed, the booth had high backs and so it didn't feel like we were being crowded. We had a great conversation without feeling like it was too loud or distracting, which was a pleasant surprise. We all ordered dinners that came with salads and a side of pasta. The salads came quickly and were amazing. I don't know what they put in the salad dressing, but it's soooo good. So is the bread and olive oil. Forget butter! The oil was incredible. I ordered the Chicken Zia - grilled chicken with veggies, mushrooms, and a white wine sauce. The side is pasta shells (which is just ok), but you can get marinara, cream sauce or oil and garlic. And again, the oil and garlic was amazing. I also learned from the server that you can request specific pastas, so another thing to keep in mind. My wife is gluten free and wasn't sure how that would work, but they had a whole gluten free menu that was fantastic. She got veal with shrimp and asparagus, which was amazing. And they bring a huge side of steamed broccoli instead of pasta for the GF crowd. Rock on! B/c it was my mom's birthday, they brought her a complimentary cannoli for dessert. I wanted to get the tiramisu (which I bet would be amazing), but I was too stuffed! We'll be back for that. Our server was super friendly and efficient. I liked her. All up. It was a phenomenal experience. We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Zias is our favorite restaurant on The Hill. Their T-ravs are always a hit, the arancini are a favorite as well. I just found out they do lasagna on Friday nights, and it's 100% the best lasagna I've had. Zias never fails us and is always a crowd pleaser. It's always on our list for treating out of town guests to what we consider STL classics.

Yelp
Authentic Italian with serious flavor! Zia's on The Hill delivered a fantastic dining experience. Yes, it's a bit pricey and we had about a 40-minute wait on a Saturday afternoon, plus parking can be a challenge--but it was absolutely worth it. The garlic cheese bread was hands-down the best I've ever had. Salads were crisp and refreshing, and the rib ravioli was rich and delicious. My wife had the seafood ravioli--still good, but not quite our favorite. We wrapped things up with tiramisù and cappuccinos, both of which were the perfect finish. Great atmosphere, incredible food. Highly recommend to anyone craving Italian in St. Louis--just be ready to wait and hunt for a parking spot!

Yelp
We stopped for lunch after seeing the Arch. I can not wait to come back. The service was very friendly and attentive. I like the atmosphere, very relaxed and welcoming. We started with fried ravioli, which was so soft and fresh. We both ordered a chicken speidini special, with wine and mustard sauce. It was cooked perfectly. The grilled breading on the chicken was delicious with the sauce. Everything was perfect. Thank you everyone at Zia's for a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Lovely weekday lunch at Zia's the other day. Our 20 minute wait wasn't bad since we were indoors in the AC. The servers here are impeccable, always ready with what you may need. The lasagne was heavenly. Amazing red sauce, too.

Yelp
We went on a Tuesday at about 6:30 and there was a 20-25 minute wait for two of us without a reservation. We got lucky with a 2 top bar table open and we snagged that. Busser or waiter helper came right away and got us water. Our waiter, Steve not far behind with a wine/cocktail menu and told us the specials. He was hustling the whole night with To Go orders and other bar patrons. I was tempted by the chicken special but decided to go with my original choice of Chicken Picatta. Hubby ordered his usual chicken parm. Both entrees come with a salad and side of pasta. Bread arrived warm and toasty, it was really good. You have to ask for butter and when it arrived, it was a soft little scoop. Bread and butter is always good. There was a bottle of flavored oil on the table but I didn't care for that. Salad came out in a large, icy bowl. I asked for no parmesan and Steve got it right! Salad is iceberg, pimento, provel, and parmesan if you don't ask them to hold it. Their dressing is a sweet Italian. It was a good salad. Entrees arrived, chicken was well cooked with a good amount of sauce and lots of capers and mushrooms. it was a fairly small chicken portion but I still only ate half to save the other half for lunch. Had a good flavor, not too bitter with the lemon. Side of white sauce cavatelli was good on flavor, I love garlic and it was heavy on that. The white sauce was pretty thin but its perfect for your take home portion, you won't have to add milk when reheating. Overall, this was a good meal, we hadn't been to Zia's in a while, and it was pretty much the same. I would recommend reservations since there was a wait on a random Tuesday.

Yelp
Holy cow, fantastic meal. Service was prompt and on point. If you want authentic Italian with the atmosphere look no further.

Yelp
Zia's is always one of my go-to Italian restaurants on the hill. They have great service, excellent food and drinks, and the lighting is perfect. On a weekend night, there's sure to be somewhat of a wait like most places but it's worth it. We get a drink from the bar while we wait and our table is ready quickly. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
Zia's is my favorite place on The Hill, but I wasn't able to go on this trip home to STL bc they are not ADA compliant. I'm temporarily in a wheelchair and can't hop up 6 steps. You're shutting out a whole set of the population. Do better, Zia's!

Yelp
Wow! Come for the bread alone!!! Served warm with olive oil and Parmesan - we could have made a full meal of the high quality, complimentary slices! Pasta dishes were totally customizable. House salad was fresh and flavorful. Toasted ravioli were tiny but packed a hearty punch with an exceptional marinara. Our server was quite knowledgeable and walked us through the menu as it was our first visit. His familiarity with the menu was incredible and we found out he had waited tables here for 20+ years! Overall, everything we tried was fresh, served piping hot and delicious!

Yelp
It was my first time St. Louis and my team decided we should host our client at The Hill as it's a great area to get good Italian food + with the history of the area. The service and food was great. I was enjoying the ambiance of the place and the quality and portion size was great. I will definitely be back at the Hill on the next trip and I would recommend this location if you're looking for good Italian food.

Yelp
Dinner was excellent. Our server was exceptional, has been there since 2001. Inside and outside of the building is beautiful. Felt like we were on the Goodfellows set Its a must visit if you're in St Louis. On the Hill. Its my Dad's favorite

Yelp
Been to many of the hill restaurants and they are all very good. This one stood out in my book after having an excellent all around meal. Everything was great, large portions and thought great value and fair prices.

Yelp
Stopped in last night for dinner and had a wonderful experience. Not a ton of regular seating but they have outdoor and bar seating options- we came in around 7 on a Saturday and waited about an hour for 2 people which was no big deal since we didn't make a reso in advance. Once we were seated we had wonderful service. We started with the arancini for an app. It was good! I think there could have been a few more - there were 4, which was just enough for 2 people. The menu says there is Italian sausage in them but it seemed to mainly just be polenta- I did not taste any Italian sausage. More sausage would make these a 10/10! They also bring out complimentary bread and there is oil on the table. You can also ask for butter like we did. For entrees, we had the chicken parm with pink pasta (entrees come with a dinner salad and side of pasta) and the chicken soto. Both were wonderful. Great portions and fresh. The pink pasta honestly was the star of the show- at other places on the hill, the pink sauce is just okay- Zia's knocks their's out of the park. Tons of flavor- highly recommend it. Lastly, the dinner salads with their house dressing are so so good. Tons of cheese and tons of sauce so if that's not your thing, make sure you mention it. It certainly is my thing and dang was it good. We will be back!!

Yelp
Food was easily 10/10!!! Mostaccioli di forno was the best dish of the night, amazing sauce and great flavor. Everything tasted amazing and I would easily order it all again. Dishes are a bit large so I would recommend ordering family style, about 2 people per dish. Service was slow and the wait was around an hour, but it was busy and I can understand the delay, waitstaff were still attentive with water and bread. Great crowd and a fun spot to be for a group dinner, 100% will be back soon!

Yelp
I have been here multiple times with family and friends. The house salad and bread is always a must. Most entrees come with a small house salad. However, check the menu for confirmation. The Penne Salsiccia is my favorite pasta here! Yet on this occasion, I opted for a special of the day. It was the Short Rib Ravioli and was quite tasty as well. My family enjoyed all of their meals too. Business here can get quite busy on the weekends. So, I would encourage making a reservation Monday-Friday for parties of 6 or more and Saturday till 3pm.

Yelp
It was my family and I's first time at Zia's and we were beyond impressed. We were seated immediately and had a waiter introduce himself within seconds. We ordered the Toasted Ravioli, Calamari and Eggplant for appetizers. These were some of the best toasted raviolis and calamari I've had in St. Louis. The dinner salad that came with our meal was fantastic. The portions are great and we all had to take a to-go box home. Overall, a great restaurant added to our list on the Hill.

Yelp
This place came recommended to me so I decided to give it a try. I really like the food. I had fried ravioli as an appetizer and then a chicken speedy with a cream sauce, which was delicious. The only reason why I'm giving this place a three rating is that the staff behind the bar, where I sat, we're eating pizza and chicken wings while they're working. At one point one of the staff took a bite of the pizza, put it down and then went over to make a drink and had licked his fingers and then picked up a fruit to put into the drink. I just think that's bad. Just my opinion.

Yelp
This was my 3rd experience at Zia's on the hill. Every time is better than the last. We waited about an hour for a table for 3 which we were okay with as they don't take reservations on Saturdays. We waited outside at their tables where we could sit and have a drink if we wanted. Our waitress told us she wouldn't have waited and would have told us to go somewhere else which I thought was weird. We got the toasted ravioli and cheese bread for apps. The cheese bread was AMAZING. The salad and fresh bread also amazing. Nothing better than the fresh bread with the oil and herbs, but we had to save room for the main course. I got the Mostaccioli al Forno which is what I've gotten every time I've gone. It was HOT. I wasn't worried about my food getting cold that's for sure. I'm a lover of my food being super hot, but I know that's not for everyone. My mom got a specialty Luisa I think! It was very yummy! And my boyfriend got the chicken alfredo which was also very hot and a massive portion! We had PLENTY for leftovers! As for our waitress, she kept forgetting what she had already told us or coming back to check on us. They were busy and we understood that, but she checked on a table right next to us twice in ~10 min before she came back to us. We waited a while for our check as well. Overall, this is a staple when I visit St. Louis. I crave their pasta!! I will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Our favorite food on the hill but this time a server Jim made our experience even better. Explained menu well but such a sense of humor and story teller! He had all the tables around us entertained! He gave us a piece of tiramisu with a story for our anniversary. Will be back for more great food and entertainment from Jim!!

Yelp
Best Italian in St. Louis in my opinion. Everything is just... simply phenomenal. We split a bottle of red wine which was absolutely delicious, had the mozzarella fritti for an appetizer, I had the cavatelli broccoli for my meal, and we had an aperol spritz and old fashioned at the bar while waiting. You will have to way 45min - 1 hour on a Friday night for sure. But well worth it. Other notable meals are the baked pasta dishes, which are equally phenomenal. Service is always impeccable. I have been here probably 30 times over the last several years and every single time is nothing but absolutely outstanding. As for ambiance, it is almost always packed (for the reasons I explained) but it's still very charming, quaint, and cozy. Typical Italian restaurant feel but elevated.

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COST!!! This had to be one of the most recommended and best reviewed Italian food/restaurants in St. Louis. Overall it wasn't terrible but the two big problems are 1) Why is sauce sweet in St. Louis. (It's awful). And 2) everything made in house was good (bread, meatballs, salad and cannoli) and the chicken Parm and cavetilli were terrible (not homemade) 1) okay atmosphere - but who cares we are here for the food 2) god awful sweet sauce - who in the right mind would like sweet sauce. (I wanted to go to the kitchen and toss the recipe on the sauce. It is TERRIBLE) 3) Did I mention the sauce - I could easily teach a class to the entire restaurant's staff on how to make sauce 4) Did I mention - I could also teach a master class on how make chicken parm. 5) WORST CHICKEN PARM EVER. It's not flatten, it's not soft, it's chewy, thick, not good. This was the worst chicken parm I have ever tasted along with the stupid worst sweet sauce I have ever tasted. 6) salad was great 7) meatballs were great even in the stupid sauce 8) service was good but when I complained the attitude shifted and still had to pay a lot for a horrible meal. (The staff need coached) 9) sooooo disappointed in the meal. The fact I got served basically shells and cheese noodles is god forsaken awful. 10) to call this an Italian restaurant is a complete joke - I am fully happy to respond to coming here and fixing this place with recipes and cooks.

Yelp
I took the whole family out to dinner for a birthday celebration. We had a party of 8 and were given the Royal treatment. With a reservation, we were taken to our table and the friendly and attentive staff were ready to give us an amazing dining experience. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers, drinks, salads, and entrees. Zia's has amazing house salads. The pastas were talked about long after the last bites. Everyone in the dinner party truly raved and enjoyed their experience at Zia's.

Yelp
In short, the food was mediocre. Ambiance and our waiter Jim? Ten out of ten. Food's got to be good tho. It was just ok. Under seasoned and watery sauce. Our waiter gave us a free dessert which was really good, but I think he knows the food isn't that great and restaurants live by reviews. Wish I could rate this place higher.

Yelp
This place has been on my list to try forever and I finally got the chance last week. The food and drinks were delicious. I went with the pasta special and WAS NOT disappointed. Excellent helpful service.

Yelp
Zia's is always a treat, but we were not very pleased with the ambiance. There were too many tables crammed in the back room, making it almost impossible to have a conversation due to the noise. It was also very warm, to the point of being uncomfortable. It is not the most intimate atmosphere & for the price, having an intimate experience was expected. The reason I gave 4 stars was due to the service & food. Can't go wrong with anything on this menu!
