While the restaurant is gorgeous, it seems they have put all their effort into the atmosphere rather than the food. I really wanted to love this place, but felt it fell short of its promise.
We were intrigued by their claim to be a Thai-Mexican inspired menu, however when we asked our waiter to recommend such dishes, he easily pointed out the Pad Thai, but other than the fact that the tuna avocado roll with watermelon visually had the look of a sushi roll (which would be Japanese) he didn’t appear to be very well informed about the menu. (The roll, by the way, was very nicely prepared and refreshingly delicious.)
There were a smattering of other dishes with “Asian” ingredients in the description, but overall, the menu didn’t have much evidence of a Thai influence.
The soft shell crab tacos were nicely executed, and the red snapper with risotto was delicious. We ordered the second fish dish, which had a beautiful presentation of vegetables, but was unfortunately ruined with dry, overcooked fish and lackluster sauce. The manager kindly apologized for the error and took care of it in the end.
We finished the meal with the Pavlova and berries - crunchy, creamy and lovely.
