Ziggy's & Sons Donuts

This humble little shop currently holds the title of best donuts in my book. Let me make this clear —any donut shop without Boston creme is just not worth it to me, and Ziggy's absolutely nails this flavor. Their raspberry filled is also incredible, which is my other favorite. The jelly is perfect, from texture to taste. The filling for all of their filled donuts generously fills the entirety of the donut. The dough is just the right amount of supple without being too cakey or mushy. The baker's mastery of their craft is evident. FYI donuts are only made Tues-Fri, and on the other days they're open, they sell other well honed pastries. My personal favorite from these is the Boston creme cake. It's an extremely moist cake version of their Boston creme donut. The chocolate frosting on them is heavenly. The lady at the counter is also very kind and helpful. Donut lovers —GO!

First time going into Ziggys moving out here to Salem. Abby was super friendly and the donuts are divine as well as the coffee! Super awesome small mom and pop shop!

Ziggy and Sons was really close to where we were staying, so I walked over to get a handful of doughnuts and pastries, all varieties. We all agree they were delicious—but here is the amazing part, I had one doughnut left, so I put it in a ziplock, threw it in the fridge, and then took it on the plane. THREE days later—this doughnut was still DELICIOUS. It tasted like it was just made. This is a true local, family-run business, which makes the experience even better. It was fun to walk in and hear the locals talking over doughnuts and coffee, like I am sure they do every morning. Highly recommend.

Ordered a coffee and apple donut. Donut was excellent. Coffee was very weak no taste. A couple of us tried it and had the same experience. Maybe something wrong with coffee machine I’m not sure.Very friendly server.

Our family went on a donut binge and sampled donuts from as many shops as possible in Salem. Ziggy's had the most tasteful donuts in our opinion. Whereas other donuts were standard and contained too much dough, Ziggy's donuts were tasty, perfect in portions, and fresh. Clearly, regulars go to Ziggy's because it has a welcoming atmosphere. Not too many shops like Ziggy's exist today as most places are rational, standardized and completely upgraded to a sanitized environment in a way that feels absent of any lived texture. Ziggy's feels real, full of texture with lived moments engrained on the walls and floors. On a side note, ask about the name Ziggy as it pertains to a very interesting story related to the owner's father (no spoilers here).

Greatest little bakery ever! Patty was the sweetest and the pastries are amazing!!! All the locals came in and she knew everyone by name. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

I had the pleasure of walking into Ziggys after trying to find fresh doughnuts other than your dunkin and honeydew processed ones that are everywhere. The prices are fantastic. The service was great. Even ended up sitting and having a chat even though it was going to be in and out. They do cash and card. The doughnuts were amazing. Will be there more often when time allows. It's so close to where I work on the water there in town.

Great little shop, we got there mid afternoon and had coffee and donuts we found both the locals and the staff to be really friendly and helpful. As the weather had turned to snow we were even offered a lift back to the train station by one of the regulars... Fantastic! We also had a good chat with the lady owner and her mother who had been working in the shop for fifty years. A definite must visit when in Salem.
