Greek-Mexican Chain Ziki and Buddy’s Burgers Will Open Austin Restaurants | Eater Austin

"An Austin Greek/Mexican food-truck mini-chain that began this past summer and is expanding rapidly, planning five new city locations in 2023 in addition to four existing Austin spots and a fifth opening in Georgetown in December. The menu emphasizes cooking without seed, canola, or vegetable oils and includes items like Greek salad burritos and grain bowls topped with gyro meat. The expansion is backed by Elon Musk’s Gigafund, and the business was started by CEO and founder Nick Nanakos, whose family also operates New York Greek restaurants called Tzatziki." - Nadia Chaudhury

We were very happy with our first experience here. I had the smash burger which isn't you're typically burger but very tasty all the same. The queezadilla was calso great and huge! The baklava was flaky and delicious. We will definitely be trying again in the future.

Google
It's a food truck right by Starbucks in the plaza, and it was AMAZING!!!!! First things first the ziki (ztaziki) sauce is amazing great flavor! The rest of the dish was amazing as well the meat was tender and delicious and the rice was great as well! I recommend getting cucumber salsa instead of pico! Also had never had or heard of fried pita until this place and it was really good! Now it is a little pricey (2 bowls with pita for $45) but it was worth it! The staff is very friendly even though they do only speak Spanish but the they had a translator pulled up the phone to help so it was still a great and friendly experience! The only thing I would say they could do different is add a little more rice to the bowl.

I have tried their bowls and quezzadillas few times now. And I have to say that I love their quezzadillas. Their Bowl is Okay too but you will like gyro or chicken quezzadillas. They are really good and really generous with the portion. I do think that foods are little expensive for something you get from a food truck but they are pretty generous with how much of a food you get. if you are around Wolf-Ranch shopping center and trying to grab something to eat quickly then I would recommend them. Also, open till like really really late so if you are hungry and when you are sick of Whataburger, then Ziki is the best option around the area. However, their ordering system with the QR code on your phone just makes ordering complicated for many people. So just order ahead on online. 5 stars for foods, 3 stars on other things that are not related to foods, but Im just going to put 5 stars.

Google
This food truck is very easy to locate. Bright pink next to Starbucks in the wolf ranch shopping center. We had the falafel bowl and the chicken bowl. The falafel was crispy but very salty. They do give you an ample amount of food for the price that you pay. Service was quick and they have benches available in front of the truck.

Google
The portions are generous so I would share a meal or be prepared to spend. Our meal cost was 60$ we ordered to of the quesadillas, feda fries and imported dip. I suggest ordering through the app because we ordered at the kiosk and it was hard to read which caused us to order a dip instead of hummus. Quesadillas were good and the sauce was good. Feta fries did not hold up to the car ride home we like 6 miles from the location in Georgetown so roughly about 12 minute ride. I found them to be over seasoned so much so that I even tried to dust the dry seasoning off but it was too over powering. I did not like the imported feta dip....we meant to order hummus. Pita bread was thin and salty. The wait was long but the ladies were very and we came during a time when fresh food was being delivered to them so I could understand. I had higher expectations but I'm not totally turned off so I might try again.

Google
Disappointed. I love this style of cuisine but this missed the mark. No where near the caliber of Halal Bros/Guys. Different league. Pita was so sad (tough, small.. and still $2.50). Expensive for the food you get (I got a $15 gyro bowl with tzatziki). Cashier also did not say 1 word to me, she just handed the food over and closed the window.

Google
I’ve been 3x hoping things would get better. Customer service isn’t good at all. The food is mainly sauce barely anything else. The sauce is just way too much and over powers the food.

Google
The smashburger with feta and balsamic is unique and delicious, unlike any burger I've had before. The tallow fries are perfectly crispy and flavorful. The service is good. You order either on your phone or at a kiosk, and the staff make the food fresh and hot for you! There are nice picnic tables available at the truck if you wish to eat there. I haven't stopped thinking about this food since trying it, and can't wait to go back. The worst part will be deciding whether to try their other options or to get another of those burgers I can't get enough of!

Yelp
The place is awesome! It's right between Starbucks and Buffalo Wild Wings in the Wolf Ranch shopping center. There is a kiosk that you place your order and yes, it's NO CASH (unfortunately). The ordering process was easy and simple and our food came out within 15 minutes, hot and ready to eat! I got the Quezzadila with Chicken, y'all... this is the one. My wife got the Gyro Bowl which was also delicious. The cost seemed pricey at first but with the amount of food we received, we can split it into 2 meals. There's only outdoor seating and because it's hot outside, most people ate inside of their car. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
No fuss here... this was delicious!!! Delivery services was pretty quick and the food was still hot upon arrival. The Greek fries was a bit different, but I thoroughly enjoyed it

Yelp
This food is incredible. I'd give it 5 stars, if only they could just get your order correct. Every single time (20+) I've ordered food from here, something I paid for is missing, and usually at least one more thing is incorrect. Such a shame, because it's such a promising restaurant.

Yelp
I wanted this place to be 5 stars so bad. It blends my two favorite food genres: Greek and Mexican. They prioritize the same food standards that I do: grass-fed dairy and beef products and they don't use seed oils! That's definitely worth stars and we need more food options with these standards. That's why I'm so sad that the food was so underwhelming. I got a burrito and their fries. I immediately regretted the fries and wish I could have my $5 back. They are pale, limp, and taste like boiled potatoes. Had to include a photo to try and communicate how much french fry flavor was not on these fries. And the best word to describe the burrito is... chaotic? Which is kind of the vibe they're going for with their branding and can totally work. But I mean chaotic in like a choking hazard way haha. I added oven roasted cherry tomatoes and kalamata olives to my burrito. They were both just thrown in WHOLE! I laughed out loud when I discovered two big honkin' tomatoes (barely cooked) just chilling in the burrito. There's no way for the flavors to mingle and get to know each other when it's just a bunch of large chunks of food. I think this would have been an awesome burrito if the tomatoes and olives were chopped and could play together. All in all, the meat and sauces are great. Skip the fries for sure. I want this place to work so bad I will most likely go back and try a bowl. The burrito just didn't work. Sad ZIKI!

Yelp
My first time ordering, they had Bogo deal. I ordered salad Zurrito and Quesezilla. Both were delicious and jalapeño Ziki sauce is yumm. Service was good.

Yelp
Greasy food truck next to Starbucks. The food did not taste like fresh ingredients. Will not eat here again.

Yelp
Amazing food! Got the gyro burrito and it's so tasty. On the pricey side, one burrito and a side of sauce was 16$

Yelp
Easy to order on the app. They've gotten my order wrong a few times but it was easily corrected. The feta is delicious. I've gotten the build your own bowl usually and the burritos both of which are good and are so generous in their portions that they usually make 2 meals for me.

Yelp
Delicious! Tried the smashburger a few days ago and have been craving another one ever since. Went back again tonight. It is the perfect mix of sweet, salty, cheesy and the hamburger patty was delicious. Also tried their sides and love the combination of the Greek flavor with french fries and dips. Glad to have such clean ingredient food in Georgetown. They don't use vegetable or seed oils, which is major, and something that basically no other food places do. Other restaurants use garbage oils, so glad to see this one standing out and cooking with quality ingredients.

Yelp
Holy ****! They're good. Like stupidly good. Got it on a whim because it looked more interesting than anything else open at the time and I was overly happy with my choice. They give you a lot. It's flavorful and delicious. And they seem very conscious of their food qualities. The environmentally friendly utensils and packaging was a nice surprise. And the receipt made me laugh. "Thanks for getting freaky with ZIKI ;)" 10 out of 10, place rocks.

Yelp
Not worth my money , food is too expensive for what it is. It's just better if you go across the street to a restaurant. They need to lower the prices . Food is mediocre not worth my time and money . Drop you price on your menu by $5 jeez .

Yelp
Went back again. Asked for medium well and burger was perfect again. Love the atmosphere as they seem to have added outdoor music. Just can't say enough good things about this place and the burger

Yelp
Food was good. Definitely an interesting take on quick service Mediterranean. Service was better. Solid experience if you're looking for a food truck.

Yelp
Generous portions, fast service, health conscious and tastes amazing. Also open very late.

Yelp
Three stars. Online order only. Bowl and burrito were large. The burrito did not have much gyro meat and the sauce was not spread well. I would not order again. The salad was better and filled with fresh veggies. Feta fries had a lot of fresh feta. Overall it was almost $40 for a burrito, salad, and fries. If it had been $25, I would consider coming back.

Yelp
This is a food truck, with picnic tables out front in a nice cozy Austin-way. I love their food but we've ordered to pick up (it being 100+ degrees right now). I would have given them at least four and a half stars (because everything I've ordered was delicious), but I'm deducting points because they did not fulfill all of our order that we paid for, so I had to drive all the way back. (And then they didn't even apologize, I think the manager was training someone, so he was trying to help, but it was a hassle to drive all the way home and then back). I recommend their food but also seriously recommend checking that you got everything before leaving!

Yelp
The hardest working and sweetest staff! I love the imported feta dip with their fries and ziki bites for quick bites. Mexican and greek is goated combo!!!!

Yelp
This place reeks of corporate greed, and seems to have contempt for its customers. Completely unable to find a phone number when I had a question while ordering, they don't want to hear from you. Lack of answers resulted in a less than ideal order. They won't let you customize without "Build Your Own" ... which means to get cilantro out of the order, I had to pay more, and cilantro is a deal-breaker that they put in almost everything. A smoothie is $10, and a single piece of Baclava is $6, which is so greedy and gross. The "Quezzadilla" was $12 with just cheese, no meat (IMAGINE CHARGING $12 FOR TORTILLAS AND CHEESE), and it was like this disgusting blob of cheese when it got here. Some of their other items might taste good, but man this place just smells of corporate suits who just want you to shut up and overpay so their spreadsheets look good for investors.

Yelp
This is my first review ever im usually a really chill customer since I used to work service but this place really sucks. I've only been three times and all three times, something has gone wrong. They left out almost half a pickup order the first time worth $25+ second they got the order wrong and third time i waited outside the window for over 5/10 minutes because the girl just assumed I was there for a different order and shushed me when I tried to say what i was there for? She then sat back on her phone while they finished the other order (that wasn't even mine) and I had to wait longer... they suck don't waste your time lol

Sean L.

Yelp
Foods great. However, it took them 45 minutes to make my order so if you're hungry now better go someplace else

Josh B.

Yelp
I love the food I think some things are gimmicky like the Coffee Frap as I seen them use heb whole milk and not "raw organic grass fed" milk. Overall I do recommend them.

Sandra H.

Yelp
Worker was too busy on the phone to take my order, so she pointed to the order kiosk, which is fine, until it wouldn't let me type my name in. There's a reason I didn't want to use that thing. It was bright out and I could hardly see. It would've been much faster if she'd just took my order. I guess they don't need my business, I'll spend my $30 somewhere else.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Been here 4 times so far and haven't been disappointed yet. Fries are what you would expect when not made with nasty oils, they taste natural. Burritos are flavorful and love the garlic sauce. Smash burger is unique and a must try. Have yet to try the bowls and quesadilla but I'm sure I will at some point.

Rachael K.

Yelp
Such incredible food! Service is great and quick! I got the burrito and the gyro bowl. They were both amazing! The burrito was massive and filled generously with meat. The gyro bowl was full of flavor and loaded! Definitely will be a regular choice when I eat out!

Pegg D.

Yelp
GPS could not find the Georgetown location. Wolf ranch center directory does not list them. Addresses are difficult to find in the large shopping center. They do NOT have a phone number to call ??????? An internet chat usually answered in 6 hours does NOT make me think they want my business. The BEST part??? Cava is just another stop light from where this was supposed to be and we ate there - YUMMY!!!

Luke K.

Yelp
I ordered online and never received my food! no phone number anywhere to be found! completely a waste of time and a scam and the BBB will be receiving a very long and poignant complaint about this scam of a store front.
