Our stay at Zion Canyon Lodge started off okay and confusing. I got a call around 7PM telling us that if we arrived past 8PM, the lobby would be closed and our Keys would be in an envelope on the window.
We arrived around 8:20 and the front lobby was still open until 9PM. No one really helped us check in because they were busy helping another guest with a room mix up. Apparently, they already had guests in the room that they assigned her in. So we grabbed our keys inside the envelope behind on the counter with our name on it.
The next morning, we went to the front desk at 7:30AM to check in (those were the instructions written inside the envelope for late check ins). And caught the first shuttle to Zion around 8:30AM. We came back to our room after a long day of exploring Zion around 4:30PM. The first thing we noticed when I opened the door was our room was very clean, so much so that we never stepped foot in it. That's because all of our stuff was missing. All of it missing! We were staying another night, so none of our things were packed, beers in the fridge, socks on the floor, toiletries still out, chargers, everything out.
We went to the front desk to ask what had happened to all our stuff and the lady told us they thought we were supposed to check out that day and had moved all of our belongings out to avoid charging us another day. Mind you, we were done exploring the narrows by 1:30PM and were hanging out at the village until we got back to our room, so we both had signal on our phones. The lodge never called us to confirm if we were leaving, considering none of our things were packed. They just decided on their own to go through our belongings and pack everything as they saw fit. Toiletry bag inside the food cooler, face wash inside my shoe, dirty clothes on top of my clean ones.
Once everything was sorted out, we brought everything bag to our room. We just felt so uneasy and unsafe afterwards, thinking about all of our personal things they had gone through. At the end, we were missing an iPhone charger and some beers we just bought. There wasn't any monetary value at loss, it's the fact that someone had gone through our personal belongings. I was paranoid going to bed, thinking that someone would try to come in our room, because the staff had the rooms mixed up again.
We told the lady at the front desk about the missing items, she said she would call housekeeping to check and call us back. She never called back. She said she was new and her daughter was with her at the front desk. I didn't want to give her anymore problems.
The next morning we checked out at 10AM, an hour earlier than check out time. Another lady with short blonde hair, not sure if she was the manager or not was there and said "oh your room has already been checked out." The same problem would've occurred if we hadn't checked out and was gone all day. We told her about the charger, she wrote our name and number down. But of course, that went nowhere.
They had coffee and juice available as long as the lobby was open. The location was very close to Zion and close a shuttle stop. The room was clean and okay. If we hadn't had whole problem of "getting kicked out," everything would've been perfect, but it kind of ruined our stay, to say the least. We will not be staying or recommending Zion Canyon Lodge to anyone.
