There are dozens of reviews mentioning how the staff treat customers poorly, so my review should come as no surprise. I think it's actually pretty funny how petty they can be.
I picked up a handheld shopping basket near the entrance, but didn't notice a second basket stuck to mine. A few minutes later the second basket fell to the ground. I pushed it out of the way of customers, but I didn't put it back with the stack. I thought there was a "Clean Baskets Only" sign near the stack, so I figured the associates disinfect them before putting them back, so I didn't want to put a used one there. The sign could've been left over from the start of the pandemic, though.
Seconds later an associate speaks to me, but due to a language barrier, I couldn't understand, so I left the basket where I originally tucked it. I figured a worker would know better where to put it than a customer. Yes, it does create a bit more unnecessary work for them, but sometimes associates prefer to put things back themselves since customers aren't always helpful when they're trying to help.
About five minutes later I'm in one of the aisles, and that same associate is carrying my second basket and is trying to communicate with me once again, but even though I tried, I really couldn't understand what she was saying. All I could make out was her saying the basket she was holding was stuck to mine, and the word "outside" while pointing toward the doors. I was a bit confused at first since the baskets aren't kept outside, but I kept shopping.
Then it dawned on me - She was trying to kick me out and was pointing for me to go "outside." Who kicks a paying customer out of a store for leaving a basket where it doesn't belong? I get that it's frustrating when customers create extra work for associates, but I thought this was an overreaction. Also, the walk to the basket stack was shorter than her walk to try to find me down one of the aisles, so she could've easily put it back herself (after disinfecting it if that was store policy).
Also, I have to mention the shoplifter "Wall of Shame" they have on display at the entrance. They print out fliers including a frame of the culprit from their CCTV footage in order to shame them. Yeah, shoplifters suck and are clearly in the wrong, but it's pretty amusing.
