I just LOVED this Asian market!! They have everything, and when I say I mean it! You have to go at least once, from produce, fresh seafood, meats, imported/exported products you’ll find them here. They also have like little stores inside the market, like beauty products, clothing, toys, etc. Have in mind if you go you’re going to spend a lot because they have so much stuff (it happened to me 😂) They also have a big free parking lot. Overall, a fantastic market experience and highly recommended. Almost forgot, the best part, they have inside a Paris Baguette bakery for those with sweet tooth!!

Great historical place to visit. Outdoor, great scenery. Take a jacket as it may get cold & windy rather quickly. Beautiful views of the San Diego harbor, Coronado Island & the Pacific Ocean. On the way to the Cabrillo monument you can visit very beautiful & serene cemetery honoring our veterans. As a matter of fact, you can walk through the cemetery, it is very soothing & will bring peace to your mind & appreciation for the US Veterans. Great place to visit.

Congratulations Zion market for opening up your new great looking store… I was there on Saturday shopping super busy nice selections. Going to be interesting to see what they do with all of the property immediately west of the store… Jumbo kimchi and pork dumplings… They’ve always got great manager specials!

Google
My family are long time shoppers of Zion Market and remember when they used to be on Mercury then moved to Clairemont and now down the street. This new location is much much smaller with tinier parking. Yes it looks new and clean and bright inside, but the selection of products has definitely gone down. Will be waiting to see when they finish building their rooftop food court. There are about 10 Tesla parking spots taking up the lot.

Google
Are you sure this celery is for human consumption? Please zion market official answer! Your staff can buy this condition celery at other market? $4 per pound! If any of your employees dare to eat celery of this quality. I will buy out all these celeries!

Google
A simple tasting counter could have solved the customer’s problem. What a sad that someone with no decent became the supermarket manager. I believe that if customers can sample they’ll be more likely to buy more. Stupid and rude. Having a rude and disrespectful person as a manager—how is that even acceptable? It really ruined my impression of Korean supermarkets.”

Zion market newly moved to this location. New construction and well designed. Everything is well stocked and organized. They still have small unique vendors located around the interior perimeter of the store. Paris Baguette is open as well with delicious fresh pastries.

Yelp
New Zion Market!!! Finally!! Its a large Asian Grocery Store that's well stocked, clean and organized!!!! They have a small seafood counter, small produce area, decent meat counter with marinated meats. There is no wasted space inside. Many checkout stands all of which were open, making buying groceries a breeze. Paris Baguette Bskery is inside. There are no restaurants inside!! Welcome to the new Zion
google avatar

Yelp
New location, clean and shiny. Love it. However, they have one single occupant restroom, and another just men's restroom. We hung out at Paris Baguette with coffee and pastries. My wife arrived with a full bladder, then had to go again after her 20 oz coffee, and by then I had to go as well. Each time (all 3 times) there were 2 people in line, so we just left without using the restroom. Why, Zion Market, why? A single, single occupant restroom? You started with a blank slate, why not Also please see my previous review. TL;DR, Their fruit tasting policy is ridiculous, especially scolding people who took a bite and are buying the bitten fruit instead of discarding it.

Yelp
My go-to for marinated Korean bbq to cook at home. The meats are more flavorful than H-mart and they have a larger selection here. I always get the sliced ribeye, spicy pork belly, marinated chicken, and beef bulgogi. They seal your kbbq proteins in a container to ensure it stays as fresh as it can be until grilling time. The service is efficient , so don't be discouraged if the line happens to be long. Also, their produce is inexpensive and will go well with your kbbq feast.

Yelp
Out on an errand I ran into this new location for Zion.Surrounding the gas station and Zion is still a construction site. This store is located right off the 163 freeway. The store has plenty of parking and they are adding Tesla chargers. As you walk to the entrance. One door goes into the store and the other side has the Paris baguette filled with pastries and dessert treats. The shopping carts were neatly lined up and looked brand new. Outside has a few tables to enjoy your pastries and take in sunny San Diego. As you enter on the outer edge of the store in the front has mini stores selling clothing, trinkets, skin care, jewelry, electronics and more. Upon entering on the left side of the store is the fruits and vegetable department. The store is so neat and organized. The decor is modern and welcoming. Typically Asian stores have a smell to them and I was pleasantly surprised how clean the store was. I didn't realize it is more of a Korean based store. So if you are looking for more variety of cuisine this has some but very much more Korean based. Every department has staff working hard to keep order to each section. Even with an open air seafood area the smell was at a bare minimum. Each aisle was organized and easy to find what you're looking for. As large of a store as it is I was missing some ingredients. The prices were spectacular in some aspects and over priced in others. I still had a wonderful visit and came home delicious new goodies and treats.

Yelp
This is my go-to place when I shop for Asian groceries and want a great deal. They always have big sales and select items in bulk at a really affordable price. I've bought a box of 20 bunches of asparagus for only $9.99 and pomegranate for $0.50/lb. You can't find deals like that anywhere else! Inside the market, there's a variety of vendors that share the space, selling food, pastries, beauty products, household items, gifts, etc. They have a huge parking lot so you never have to worry about finding a spot to park your car.
google avatar

Layla S.

Yelp
This is a supermarket that has different types of Asian groceries. The prices are usually lower than the others. Their produce (vegetables) are fresh. We got a whole box of Asparagus that are on sale for a $1 (fresh) Can't get anything for a dollar now We were here yesterday 10.21.2024 I noticed a lot of kiosk and stalls are closing. 'Think they are going to relocate according to one of their staff. Enjoyed my food shopping here because of the prices. Staff are really helpful and polite. If you need Asian groceries go to Zion.

Yelp
Zion Market on Claremont Mesa Blvd is like stepping into a Korean drama, minus the dramatic plot twists and love triangles. You walk in, and suddenly you're the star of your own culinary adventure fresh kimchi and rice cakes are your loyal sidekicks, while every aisle feels like a carefully crafted set. The ramen section? It's like the "main lead" of the store, always ready to save the day with a quick meal. The produce is so vibrant, it could be in a K-drama scene where the hero eats healthy to get that glow-up. Even the snacks have that perfect K-drama vibe crispy, addictive, and always leaving you wanting more. Forget the plot, just grab some goodies and enjoy your "episode" at Zion Market.
google avatar

Fumika T.

Yelp
If this was in the Bay Area there would not be so many boxes of asparagus left!! 99 cents for 11 lbs. What a door buster. The asparagus were really good quality too. Black Friday came in September. I had no idea Zion was packing deals like this. Major regrets not going much while living here 4 years ago. I don't have to compete against anyone since I don't live there, so no gatekeeping this one. The deals here are something else. The cashier mentioned it was peaches before. I would go crazy
google avatar

Josue V.

Yelp
Come here to buy meats, particularly the marinated options and thinly sliced meats for hot pot. They're high-quality for the most part, but most importantly, they're always more affordable than H-Mart and other POC grocery stores. I will drive out of my way to buy meat for my groceries here. However, I do not come here for the produce that often. The produce here is a hit or miss. They have a lot of "flash sales," but I find most of the produce to be old. The produce at H-Mart is pricier, but it's way-better quality. I will still buy produce here, but I have to be careful when picking my produce out. That being said, I still love this place. I've been coming here since 2015, and I see myself being a loyal customer here. Plus that they have a good court and a Paris Baguette here! 4.5/5 rounded up to a 5!

Joe S.

Yelp
Haven't been inside the new store location yet but its location went from great to terrible. As is the case at 99Ranch just down the street there are 5 cars to every 3 parking spaces and the backup extends well onto Clairemont Mesa Blvd. If I ever get in it might be worth it.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this Asian market, we went right after our KBBQ meal. It's like a mall area, there's a market and different Asian shops within the store The prices are amazing we usually do HMart for our pantry stables and this store was soooo much more affordable and had a huge variety. So many workers available to answer questions store was clean, vibrant, and amazing. We will def start shopping here from now on.
google avatar

Yelp
Once you get past the smell which hits you as you walk in Zion has the best prices for fresh vegetables and fruit. Their sales come out on Thursday but they have Manager's Specials throughout the week and they have a Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday sale that provides some crazy prices! Best days to go are early on Thursday when the sale starts. In addition the 1st aisle as you walk in has some great specials especially the refrigerated packaged buckwheat noodles. You can get a pack that has two servings for $3.99 to $4.99 when they are on sale. It's a great way to have lunch on a hot day. We go to Zion once a week!

Yelp
A go to Korean market for kbbq meats and specialty items for at home grilling. Pretty good selection of premarinated and non marinated meats to choose from. Best cuts to buy are boneless, bone in short ribs, pork belly, chicken drumsticks, bulgogi. Will try pork jowl here next time! Don't really buy produce/vegetables here so can't speak to it. Service to order the meats is quick and the employees are nice.
google avatar

Aurora L.

Yelp
Everything I needed was there! Great service! Everyone is nice in there! I admit I did not know what I was doing when picking produce. My soup came out pretty tasty!
google avatar

Yelp
Produce is cheap, but doesn't say fresh too long, good for if you need a lot but plan to use it within a couple of days. The cashiers are pretty nice, usually fairly professional except for one who seems to usually work at night, I think his name is Brendan- saw him laughing at a customer's disability so that was a bit disappointing. The gimbap is good, usually pick that up every time I'm in (it's better earlier in the day, in the evening/night time the rice is a bit dry from setting out) as well as some frozen dumplings (the BibigoUSA spicy pork ones are a regular addition when I make a quick soup!) Usually get some snacks and ramen there too. Overall the prices are pretty fair, but I hesitate to get some of the foods that are not factory packaged (even though I mentioned I get the gimbap) because the shelves are often pretty dirty. But overall this place meets my needs as far as Asian ingredients go. Personally prefer here over 99 Ranch.

Yelp
This location will be closing soon and moving East on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Always a great selection and quality products to choose from. The employees are helpful and kind. I love the reasonable prices of their produce. It's a bright and clean and neat Asian supermarket. Looking forward to shopping at the new location!!!

patti i.

Yelp
Maybe they're just not organized yet because it seems that they moved in pretty much of a hurry but they don't have all the products that I am interested in in a lot of the people in the store were also complaining About the freshness of the vegetables and products that they used to buy that were now missing. I actually talk to the son of one of the owners. I have been shopping at Zion for many years starting with a small store on convoy. Now it seems that all of the Asian stores have all of their products and produce wrapped in plastic! No plastic! We don't want plastic!

Yelp
I admit I'm a fan of Zion. So much so that I'll drive down to this place whenever I'm in need of Korean barbecue (marinated or unmarinated) or black bean noodles available in their food court. This visit I specifically drove down to buy bone-in and boneless kalbi to grill for my family during the Memorial Day weekend. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. He confirmed that their marinated boneless marinated kalbi was on special and the same price as the unmarinated kalbi! That's a no-brained for AND less work too. Another good visit for me FYI: I live closer to BS-Mart in Mira Mesa but I refuse to give them even a penny more of my hard-earned money in exchange for their consistently crappy service. Feel free to find my prior review on that horrible location.

Yelp
Feeling adventurous? Well, this Zion store is for you. I habitually find a good item I like and never venture further. Shopping here, you might decide to buy the soy sauce or siracha brand you've been enjoying for years, but wait a minute, how many variations are there? A TON! So, Zion offers a multitude of all things in the Asian style foods category. Fresh, bottled, canned, boxed- frozen rice, appetizers, meat and fish-alcohol, produce, household goods. Dairy, eggs, juice and tofu are reasonably priced. I make a trip to Zion for antiinflammatory teas such as burdock and barley because here packages run from 20 count to 100. I also enjoy a trip to the produce section where Gai Lan and Choy Sum, great tasting greens, are abundantly stocked. Look for produce specials! Two weeks ago, a last batch of seedless melons cost $3 a piece, and for $1 I bought 5 green onion bunches to saute. Zion is a fun way to discover a new flavorful food. Check out the food court and merchandise area in the building. Plenty of parking. Clean and well stocked. Decent prices. Plenty of friendly employees who will help you navigate this very large supermarket.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
How did I spend so much money in the produce section? Easy. It's a great selection, fantastic sale prices, lots of variety, and fresh. The rest of the store is comparable too - some parts seem a little over priced compared to other Asian markets, such as H Mart, but there's good variety. Being Alaskan--and an islander from a fishing village, I tend to judge the seafood counter by how alive the fish look- are they happy, healthy, ect. But their tanks were empty. The frozen fish looked decently fresh and the ice was clean, however - they were doing a brisk business. Only saw Atlantic salmon though, and my Alaskan heart was saddened by this. I'm not biased (I'm totally biased). Overall, 4 stars. Higher prices and no Alaskan salmon but great produce section.
google avatar

Adam G.

Yelp
I live in a supermarket desert so I read some good reviews and decided to try this place. As soon as I entered I smelled old fish and I thought I made a mistake and I also saw this was not a Jamaican or Jewish supermarket despite the name I soon realized they were selling live fish and kimchee at the entrance and I was in a mostly Asian place. Then I moved in further to the produce section. Massive piles of fresh fruits and vegetables were being unloaded and snapped up at very low prices. Varieties I had never seen too. The meats section was not so impressive. I was thrilled to bring home a pile of fresh and delicious produce for very little money
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the Kearny Mesa area, I like to hit up Zion Market for some of my Asian grocery needs. They have a nice meat and seafood department, seaweed aisle, spices, a large aisle of their various sauces, snacks and a huge produce department that's pretty reasonable. You just need to be aware of prices and know what is a deal. For the most part, produce prices are reasonable. Zion is usually quite organized and now have an app you can download to get points on your purchases. During the weekdays, parking is pretty easy to get but on the weekends, good luck! It can get quite crowded. Still a place I love to drop by when in the area!
google avatar

Carl M.

Yelp
Love visiting this convenience store. My wife and I always buy their fish cake, it's pretty tasty and just a little tip you can actually ask for a chopstick in the cashier. Majority of the restaurants inside closes in certain hours and re open around 5pm.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Another night of delicious Korean BBQ with my family. Can never go wrong. Love the Banana Kicks, thin sliced beef and ribs
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
First time at this mkt and loved it! Great produce, lots of great Korean food items and personally thought it was slightly better than H Mart. People there were friendly and food was easy to find. Of course I walked out with more than expected.
google avatar

Somi J.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost 5 years, and this place is downgraded version of HMart. However, I do prefer this over Hmart as less crowd, bigger parking, it's bigger in general. They do have a lot of selection of Korean ingredients that you can get it at hmart but I also think that they are little bit cheaper. Obviously avoid the weekend crowd, because you will get ran over by Asian moms who's trying to get their weekend started. This place is mostly shopped by older crowd vs at hmart I see much younger crowd. They pretty much sell the same thing.
google avatar

Rick Vincent C.

Yelp
This Zion market was pretty nice. Lots of sales on produce and easy to find what we were looking for. Huge parking lot. There's also a bakery within the store if you're looking for some nice pastries to take home. Huge selection of different flavors of soju to choose from if you're looking for some new flavors, come check this spot out!
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
Good market. Good location. Has a few small markets inside. Fresh fruits. Nice local grocery shop.
google avatar

Mary H.

Yelp
Quite a shopping experience! The market has lots of stuff and many smaller stores. Definitely a must try.
google avatar

Hahudy B.

Yelp
A classic supermarket with all the Korean snacks and produce you need. Great prices and deals with decent-quality produce, so everything good is gone by nighttime. There's a seafood station, butchering station, and a hot meal preparation bar along with Pig House. Don't forget the little restaurants lined up near the entrance and Paris Baguette. This is a one-stop place for all the things you need. Very cute bear playing the piano too. Maybe not the cleanest grocery store, but hey, it's one of the most visited stores in Kearny Mesa and I see why.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
One of my favorite international markets in San Diego! They have some great prices for produce, but double check the quality. That is sometimes the reason for the low price, because they get a good deal on something that someone is unloading. Consistently good deals on green onions, cilantro, cucumbers, etc. Korean snacks are some of the best snacks on the planet! Just don't make me eat kimchi, LOL. Great chips, cookies, and crackers. Also a large selection of different Asian sauces and condiments, which you will need for the Korean frozen dumplings you're buying for dinner! Lots of other businesses in the other half of the building, Paris Baguette being the most popular. But there's also the K-Pop store, ice cream, etc.

Sarah G.

Yelp
You have to be incredibly cautious with their produce, and be be suspicious of any low priced items. Bought some apples 2 pounds/$1, the next day they start getting huge soft spots. Bought eggplants 1$/pounds, not even cheap, all for trash. Some items do end up working out but for all the times that you buy their trash, it ends up evening out with buying from regular grocery stores
google avatar

Vivi V.

Yelp
Update on Bing Haus mochi donuts: permanently closed. The space is now unoccupied. Review for store: can find good deals and prices here. The store can get quite crowded and the produce quality is hit or miss (especially the ones that go on sale). Sometimes there are rotten / wilted produce. Other times it's really fresh and large! Just gotta be careful with your picks and be extra cautious with produce that are on sale. They have a rewards app where you can earn $2 after spending $200. Not many stores offer rewards so this is a bonus.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Fake 3rd grade food shipped from China. I can't believe this is allowed in America selling a bunch of junk food. The rice and pastas are fake the fruits go bad within three days. I only buy cucumbers from here .That's why in the receipts It says you can return it only within two Days.
google avatar

Frances A.

Yelp
Always a pleasure to come to Zion Market. Yes, it is not as "pretty" as H-Mart. But Zion market is an oldie, but a goodie. The deli at Zion is better than H-mart. We like to go after the lunch rush or dinner rush in order to haul in the deals in the sushi area. Both H-mart and Zion do not have the freshest raw fish, but it does the job right to get rid of a sashimi craving. At Zion, there is this one young lady who is always so helpful and cheerful. She seems to have a good outlook on life. I cannot remember her name, but I did comment on how refreshing her attitude is.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Korean markets that also has a great selection of Japanese and Chinese ingredients. Some of my favorites at Zion are the incredibly reasonable fruits and vegetables, the marinated Korean meats for Korean BBQ at the meat counter, and their great selection of noodles, sauces, banchan and tofu. They also probably have the greatest selection of frozen dumplings I have ever seen. You can make a whole afternoon/evening out of going to Zion as there are several great restaurants and a French bakery in their food court.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
Great selection but the ambiance is cold, and sparse like a shopping in hospital setting? Price is comparable to other Asian markets. Parking is good anytime of the week. I like to alternate between this place and Hmart few blocks away. Avoid Saturday and Sundays as it gets busy.

Eva G.

Yelp
I love this place where I can have a yummy japcshe (my favorite korean food) and french pastry with coffee afterwards in the same place. And some grocery shopping if I need something in the very fresh market. Service is excellent, food is fabolous, what is there not to love? Thank you Lilly for bringing me here for the first time!
google avatar

Norbert K.

Yelp
This is a great Asian market that occupies the space of a former K-Mart. It is large with well-spaced aisles. Meat and fish look fresh, and the market does not have the seafood "aroma" of many Asian markets. Prices are good ... certainly competitive. There is also a food court with Korean, Japanese, and Chinese offerings, as well as small retail shops, professional services, and a French Baguette bakery on the perimeter.

Yelp
High theft parking lot. Zion management and security will not have your back outside of the store. Came to shop here around 2pm after a half marathon, returned to my car to find employees have blocked my car with their electric cart pusher (wtf?!). Apparently a customer accused me of "stealing" her purse as she was loading her groceries into her vehicle next to me. She was very adamant that I was the one who took her purse and I was 110% sure her purse wasn't in my car. I refused to open my car for her and decided to wait for police (apparently they were called by her or an employee) to arrive and prove my innocence. 1hr later of waiting by my car and no police. Waste of my time, and made sure to wave at this "Karen" as I left the parking lot. Long story short, I went to management and security to explain that I was being harassed and accused of theft by another customer. They brushed me off and did nothing to diffuse the situation, probably because this wasn't happening inside their store. Security advised there have been car break-ins/theft here that you won't hear about, so be aware of this area. Do better, Zion management. 2 stars cause I like this particular grocery store, just not the people associated at this location.

Yelp
Zion Market is a outstanding market selling everything Korean and than more! This store has anything and everything you need for your everyday Korean cooking and of course your everyday Asian essentials! This is my go to spot for especially the fresh fruits and veggies! In advance you might want to pack your boxing gloves while entering the section because the sales are so cheap and hard to believe its true that for some people its all or nothing! They have almost any veggie and herb and spice your looking for as well as fresh fruits. The meat selection is my personal favorite as to where they have pre sliced meats for your next shabu shabu party or KBBQ. They even have marinated meats as well you can purchase to save time. The seafood selection is huge with fish and crustaceans but I feel it could be a bit cleaner in a way since your dealing with meat. They have pre packaged sashimi and also other variety's of packed food that are nice on the go. They have a extensive aisle of ramen noodles and sauces with condiments which are my favorite since I'm a sucker for sauces! They have a nice variety of frozen food and a huge candy, chip, cookie selection as well. I love all the soju choices and beer and alcohol they sell here because there so cheap and refreshing as well and the fresh Korean / Japanese juices they have as well. The food court is always amazing with at least 8 different restaurants having everything for anyone's appetite as well as a fresh bakery inside. The customer service is great and lines go quick! The parking lot is huge with ample parking for everyone! I highly suggest you come here and get some good shopping down in a fashionably cheap price with bargains after bargains especially with there produce because there's no store out there that can beat these prices!

Yelp
Went to Zion for the in-store restaurants. Sad that 3 of the 6 were closed at 7pm. Options were limited to noodles, fried chicken and Japanese. We decided on Japanese and ordered a Bento box...sorry, they were out! What?!?!

J O.

Yelp
I go to Zion VERY frequently because I've always found good deals and quality service, but today's (6/30/2024) experience was terrible as I checking out. The male cashier was young and had curly hair and he was in the last lane at 4pm. He treated my family awfully with outward negative attitude, slamming our food as he was bagging it and basically hitting the screen as he was entering in our produce. When we politely asked for 2 bags so we can separate our wet produce and heavy/dry items, he looked at us angrily and remarked "WOW TWO BAGS?" It was honestly such an uncomfortable experience for me and my family. We were really trying to be understanding, but being treated with such hostility was so bewildering. I hope management can do something as they make their transition to the new location.

Rhondi S.

Yelp
Asian market specializing in Korean ingredients and food. Go my gochujan paste, tofu, plenty of Korean Bancha from fish cakes, pickles, Kim Chee ( they have a 12' section of all types of kimchee). Produce section has a wide variety from numerous eggplants, beans, cabbage, turnips, greens. Fruits variety from dragon fruit, lychee, Lohan, melons. Slightly dirty, floors and such. The deli was closed, but plenty of fresh fish, shrimp, crab.

Yelp
I love Korean and Japanese markets! Might be the foreigner in me but I think everything they invent is sooo cool like their drinks, noodles, cooking gadgets, just everything! This location has a food court inside, bakery, and a small gift shop. I don't come here as often as H-Mart, but if I'm not mistaken they have a big hot foods section in the back near the butcher area. I say big because H-Mart has a little cart that looks like the food has been sitting for awhile. They have almost every Korean/Japanese food item you can think of. They have a huge variety of noodles so if you're ever in for a noodle challenge, these stores are your spot! Also a big selection of sojus and sakes. From packaged foods, noodle selections, bakery, drinks, snacks, hot foods, prepackaged foods, dried foods, anything you can think of you can bet you'll find it here.

Yelp
Zion replaced Sears like a decade ago. This is my go to for all Korean goods. I love their selection of fresh veggies. Currently obsessed with sesame leaves, Persian cucumbers and flavored almonds. Before I learned to cook, I used to get their pre-marinated meats. It's always perfection. They also have sashimi fish, sushi and all things for hotpots. By the way, if you ever need to use their bathroom, they have a toepener. Hands free door handles are the best for germophobes!

Yelp
Go to the food court , look for jaampoong soup Eat it. It's pretty damn spicy. It's delicious. One of the better Asian markets imo. Never seen a place that sells cows blood by the gallon. That's how you know it's good.. lots of variety of fresh and frozen ingredients. Don't get me started on their snack isle. If you're looking for sushi grade fish this is the wrong market , Try Mitsuwa

Yelp
Love this market! It has very Korean or Asian stuff that you need! I love that they good clearance selections. The veggies this time wasn't as fresh and I normally have seen but definitely their price is very good!
