The 15 Best Korean Barbecue Restaurants in Orange County | Eater LA

"Though Zip Korean BBQ may have started as an all-you-can-eat spot, it has since recently transitioned over to an a la carte menu. Still, the meat offerings run the gamut and include staples like pork belly, spicy pork, galbi, beef brisket, garlic beef sirloin, tenderloin, and garlic marinated rib cap. The Seoul-style bulgogi is a completely new addition to the menu, served in a flavorful, sizzling broth with loads of green onions. The new beverage lineup also takes a more whimsical approach with cocktails like a Poppin Grape mojito." - Cathy Park

Google
Went here with my buddies who live near this Korean BBQ restaurant and said it was great. They were right. We had fun cooking all the meats, drinking Korean beer, and taking a couple shots! It was a blast. Our server was fantastic. Fun place to hang out with friends!

Google
Not bad at all — I really liked the quality of the meats! There were so many side dish options too, which was great. I just wasn’t happy with the glass noodles — they tasted a bit stiff, undercooked, and not as flavorful as others I’ve tried. Service was definitely good though; they kept changing the grill, which I appreciated. The potatoes were kinda meh though. :)

Google
Sorry but this was a very mediocre KBBQ experience. We only ended up ordering two meat choices (Pork bulgogi and Beef tongue) because they were both way too oily and the bulgogi seasoning was way too strong. I genuinely felt like throwing up after eating. At least the sides are decent. There are better KBBQ spots in Irvine; avoid this one.

Google
Came here for dinner and it was so good! The price is great for all you can eat Korean BBQ. The meat was great quality and the sides were delicious. The service was excellent and all the staff was friendly and helpful. The corn cheese and egg sides were also delicious. For meats it all seemed so fresh which was really nice. Everything felt fresh and not frozen. In the end the meat and sides were delicious and service was friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed it and will be back!

Google
First time here with my husband and had a wonderful experience. The food was incredibly delicious, the service was above and beyond. The young lady who waited on us was extremely attentive and make sure we always got everything we ordered within a reasonable timeframe. I really wish I had caught her name so I could shout out to her in my review. I guess I'll have to go back and hunt her down next time haha! All of the meats were superb, but the beef tongue was probably by far the best I've ever had. The thinly shaved meat cooked up perfect and was incredibly tender and delicious. The price was fair and the food was amazing and the service was a platinum star. Only gripe was that the music was too loud. It sounded like we were in a night club and not a restaurant. My husband ended up sitting next to me in the booth seat because he couldn't hear a word I was saying over the table through the music. Aside from that, though, the entire experience was wonderful. We will be back!!

Google
I love KBBQ. The meat was tasty, a lot of flavor! The spicy beef bulgogi was too sweet other than that the food good..service wise, it was ok and needed to be better. My main concern is the floor is very slippery due to all the oils from the cooked meat! Honestl, I don't think I'll go back any time soon!

Google
I came here with a friend, we were both craving Korean BBQ and this spot popped up on our map. Quality of the meat was excellent, sides were delicious, and I treated myself to the grape drink with popping pearls and it was a great accompaniment. Personally, I’ve moved away from AYCE bbq spots because I feel like I can never appreciate the meal fully. Again, the quality of the meat was really good, and we even had leftover food to take home later for another full meal. Service was great, our server was really attentive and made sure we had enough sides throughout our meal. I’ll have to come back again with friends again!

Google
All you can eat Korean BBQ. Our server was great as was all the staff. For two its a bit tough to try the different meat/proteins. The garlic shrimp is head on in the shell, but can't tell from the menu description. The ribeye steak actually is a full 8 oz steak! You get to cut it yourself. The spicy chicken was good and not very spicy. I loved their Kim Chi . Be very careful when you get your sides from the kitchen. The steaming egg bowl was dangerously hot with small handles so just slide it around the table. As with most all you can eat places there is no take home allowed. We only ordered two rounds of "meat" ,3 items each round and unfortunately still had lots left over. Sadly had to leave it.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been coming here for the last 3 years. We love it, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is calming, I can sit and enjoy my food. Edgar, our waiter, is kind and attentive. I have been to other kbbq spots but tbh this place is my fav and my go to.

Yelp
Zip Korean BBQ is easily one of the best AYCE spots near UCI. The meats were super high quality especially the filet mignon, jumbo shrimp, bulgogi, and honey garlic brisket all cooked perfectly with great char and flavor. The banchan seemed really fresh, especially the cucumber salad and pickled radish. The premium galbi was definitely one of our favorites. It was fall-off-the-bone tender and worth the small extra charge. Prices are very reasonable at $24.95 for lunch and $34.95 for dinner, especially for the quality. Great service, clean space, and a perfect hangout spot for UCI students. We will definitely come back!

Yelp
Zip has some good things going for it like $35 for AYCE dinner is a fair price, the space wasn't crowded even on a weekday, and overall the food tasted good while we were there. However, we ended up with food poisoning afterwards, likely from the marinated meats, which seemed a bit older. We had cut all of our meats before eating to make sure they were cooked through. Because of that, I haven't been back since, though I did enjoy parts of the meal at the time

Yelp
Service: unsatisfactory. I hate having to constantly ask for things, esp if should be automatically done. She also failed to provide the HH 20% discount, as it was discussed when we first sat down. So I had to ask her for it, and her response "oh yeah, I was gonna do that". Both things that bother me.... Bad service and no accountability. Ambiance: the music was kind of loud, couldn't hear my colleague talk. Ample seating as we were the only ones there at opening. Food: meh. Broccoli wasn't seasoned as stated on the menu. Potato salad was bland. Salad was plain, not enough dressing, even though I asked for more dressing. Beef brisket and beef bulgogi was good. Overall, I wouldn't come back. Just because it's convenient, it's not worth it by any means.

Yelp
Zip Korean BBQ is an AYCE BBQ spot. I stopped by during lunch time to check them out. The classic AYCE lunch menu is very limited with only 6 meat options and half of them being pork, which I don't eat. Classic lunch menu ($25) - One is able to order 2 meats and 4 sides at a time. My group tried the beef bulgogi, chicken teriyaki, and spicy chicken which were the only meat options I could eat. Sides included: rice, rice paper, egg, corn cheese, tofu/soybean soups, jalapenos, edamame, garlic, mushrooms, dumplings, pineapple. Kimchi and cucumbers were also offered and both of these were fresh and tasted great. Chicken teriyaki was just ok and beef bulgogi was nothing special. Out of all the meats I tried the spicy chicken was probably the best. Overall, I was a little disappointed with the meat offerings, I wish they had more choices. The sides were just ok, except for the kimchi and cucumbers.

Yelp
It's honestly extremely sad that I have to give this place 2 stars because the food is actually really tasty, however the service is god awful. My server, Hispanic male was extremely forgetful, an older lady aided my needs just to be forgetful as well. Mind you there were only 4 other tables at the time I was dining. Don't waste your time here. Go to Songhak

Yelp
My coworker had never been to Korean bbq before and we were so excited to see this place was right in the area we had gone for a walk and grocery shop. It was slow for a Monday night, maybe a dozen other patrons in the restaurant. We ordered the basic menu for $35/person, rhe premium did have a lot of additional options but for a quick meal there were more than enough options available. We did order half orders of meat options so she could try so many options. All the meat and Banchan was so good, and tasted amazing. Staff were super attentive and helpful, and order to delivery of items were super quick. A most ideal location for kbbq being in a pretty expansive shopping/entertainment center!
google avatar

Mitchell N.

Yelp
Place is usually open with tables and been a few times! The prices are but more than average but I'd say worth the value! Went with the Premium because how can you not get Ribeye steak! So good and great options! The Kalbi Ribs were also a MUST choice! Most of the meat does need some salt with each bite for more flavor but still really good! Don't get the shrimp - just trust. Service was not the best tonight but usually they are pretty quick, busy night for sure! As far as side options - they don't have too many which is definitely a downside and you do have to be mindful of time since it's 1hr 30min. Great location as well for dessert options afterwards! What to get - Ribeye steak, Kalbi Ribs, Teriyaki Chicken, Cheese Corn, Dumplings, EXTRA SAUCE Definitely still recommend! Great meat choices!
google avatar

Yelp
Being completely honest here, this place left a lot to be desired. I think the location is great and the service was friendly and fast! BUT the food was so mediocre. A LOT of the menu is unmarinated and the marinated meats still lack flavor. The garlic shrimp is shrimp (that you have to peel) with garlic powder on top of it??? The "premium" cuts are not seasoned lol so you are just eating straight meat. They only give you like 3 sauces in the beginning for dipping and that's it. One of the sauces was sesame oil??? I wanted to like this place because I love the location but it's too pricey for not good quality.
google avatar

Austin B.

Yelp
Very pleasantly surprised! I tried coming here some time ago but I believe it was a la carte back then. It's now AYCE format. I usually look to see if the restaurant has beef belly and pork jowl. This place had both and they tasted good. The non-marinated boneless short rib was great. The prime brisket was also great. Beef tongue was ok. The sides were okay and is the main reason this place is 4 stars instead of 5 for me. However, I think they use real sesame oil when you ask for it to dip your meat in! Service was super fast and we didn't wait long for a table on a Saturday at 7:15p for 3ppl. Interior was clean.
google avatar

Annabella J.

Yelp
Out of all KBBQs in OC, this is definitely one that you'd want to visit! Reasonable AYCE price for two people, food came out fast, great service, and a wide variety on the menu that will surely have something for everyone. It's also located conveniently at The District right next to AMC and 3CAT, so grabbing boba and watching a movie are fun activities to do after eating this delicious meal!

Lauren K.

Yelp
Really clean and lovely place with good quality food. I especially appreciate the attentive service, especially our waiter Damian who really took the time to make sure we were well tended to. Keep up the good work!
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
I've been to Zip Korean BBQ before when it was not as popular, also when they were offering the Combo . Now is only AYCE. And they are in my TOP 3 for trustworthy KBBQ. **You can see how clean the tables are at this place. They install good smoke extraction system.*** You can order 3 types of meat and 3 types of side dish each round.NOTE: their portions for every meat plate is A Lot!! Make sure you finish the first round before deciding to order another round of meat. They really go for it all on the beef brisket, pork belly, ... some place just give a few thin frozen meat slides and you can taste the Difference in the Quality of Zip BBQ. Very fresh, nicely organized and the marinated options are delicious ( however the seasoning is a bit sweet) _Banchan: Rice paper , smashed potato ( yummy!!!) , kimchi, raddish, salad. ( Kimchi is a bit too sour for me)... _Side dish: tofu soup , corn chese, dumplings, edame _Service: nice and friendly, restaurant was super busy at 6pm - Sunday night but the servers did their best! Constantly changing the grill and check up on you. ( pls be patient with the staffs cause Zip Bbq has been so Packed). Absolutely 5/5 for me, with all the factors combined.
google avatar

Rosie H.

Yelp
It's a pretty basic KBBQ AYCE restaurant. I like that it's conveniently located at The District. I'd give the server a shout out, he was the only one waiting on tables and was pretty efficient. The quality and price aren't quite there...even the higher end meats were just okay. There weren't very many options on the menu which was kind of surprising. We had 90 minutes to eat and cook our food.
google avatar

Natalie Y.

Yelp
this unassuming kbbq spot is actually quite good! i always walk past and have never gotten to try it until now~ the price was around $35 for the regular menu which is already pretty hefty in my opinion :( i usually order beef tongue at kbbq but couldn't justify spending extra money for premium (around $45) especially since I've been to establishments that include beef tongue in their regular menu. besides that, the meat was pretty tasty. i don't really think i have the refined taste buds for quality of meat but to me, it was delish! the side dishes that you can order were also great but i felt like it was lacking a bit in variety compared to other kbbq spots. though, the corn cheese and edamame we ordered were pretty good--no complaints there! service was great! we were checked up on many times so they're very attentive. the orders also came out quickly!

Gibson W.

Yelp
I went in for lunch on a monday afternoon. The food was very high quality and i would recommend to explore the menu as they have MANY meats for lunch and dinner! The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly and was attentive to providing food and sides.
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
We got the premium package and the selection was pretty good. Meat quality was good and some that were marinated were good as well. Only reason I gave this a 3 star is because of the service. Our server didn't seem inviting or even , forgot a lot of the things we asked for, gave us the wrong thing, 2/5 silverware+ sauce sets were given til we asked, forgot our water and tea, etc. I wouldn't want to come back
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Good bbq, good service! Very attentive and all the meats were solid! Good spot especially after a calorie burning session at Activate (puzzle and obstacle course game in the same area)
google avatar

Peter P.

Yelp
Can confirm they have brought back AYCE! However, the AYCE option is now limited to a single "Premium" tier which comes with a few caveats. As explained by our server, there is a 90 minute time limit. They will let you know when your time is almost up so you can make a last call order. You can only order up to 3 plates of meat at a time per round. You have to finish all 3 plates before you can order more. I'm sure this is to avoid waste. However, in my experience they did let us order more meat while we were still working on the previous order. With respect to the premium meats, you can only order 1 of each type per person. So for example, if you have 2 people in your party, you can order up to 2 plates of boneless short rib. I don't mind this as I mostly found myself wanting more brisket than anything else which is not considered a premium option. Their brisket is very good quality and consistent. Not too fatty and not too lean. Overall, I'm okay with the new changes if it means AYCE is back. I think Zip's AYCE menu is the best in the area when considering cost and meat quality. Banchan options still leaves much to be desired though.
google avatar

Ian C.

Yelp
Alright Zip after making a terrible business decision to get rid of AYCE, I'm happy to say it's back on the menu! It is now a much more limited ayce option but your staples like beef tongue and marinated boneless short rib are on there. Crazy to see there was only two waiters working and running the food but I think the place is still trying to figure how to cut costs. Overall though I will gladly revert my review back to four stars and give props to where it's due for bringing back the ayce options. Check this place out if you need a good kbbq fix!
google avatar

Belle L.

Yelp
Very satisfied with this AYCE KBBQ spot! Definitely gonna be our new go-to for KBBQ. We opted for premium which is $45/person as we wanted to go off for Father's Day. The meat selection was great - glad that my favorite pork jowl is not under premium in case I want to go for the cheaper option haha. Our favorite was the boneless marinated short rib. I also appreciated the selection of sides - the rice paper was probably one of the best I've had. Corn cheese was bland. Steamed egg was bomb. All the bonchon were good too.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
Hmmm Zip is okay. 6.8/10, not quite a 7 I wanted to like it more because it's by the AMC we're always going to. I feel like it's a bit over priced, but everything tasted decent! I wasn't a fan of the corn cheese, and the ribeye quality was just average. The garlic sirloin was not the best quality either. TBH I miss when it was ayce. I think we should go back to ayce, Zip! Or at least let us have the option.
google avatar

Yelp
I came, I ate... and I think I just did myself in. Stabbed myself in the heart with various blunt, high-cholesterol meats. Lunch Buffet (Standard): $25 Dinner Buffet (Premium): $35 Note: Review is from JAN 2023 visit; just now finishing up review. Zip KBBQ popped up on my Yelp radar several weeks ago... and just in time too, I've been craving Korean eats for over a month now. The gochujang clouds parted, and the way was clear! You can choose between "standard lunch" or "premium dinner" options; BOTH are available during lunch hours. I was surprised to hear this and thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to try option C) ALL OF THE ABOVE. (i.e. - Premium please!) You know you've reached the maximum buffet level when you hate yourself at the end of the meal. That overindulged afterthought that hazily stumbles through your food-clouded brain?... You don't know whether to crap, throw up, or just D'IIIIEEEEEEEE! It's only then that you think, "Sh*t... I still have to walk back to the car." Well, it's usually closely followed by, "F*K! I know I should've stopped when blood started dripping from my nose, two items ago." Eating KBBQ at the beginning of the year is the best way to kickstart my new year resolutions!... It will be leafy salads for me for the rest of 2023! LA Beef Short Rib - Good Garlic Seasoned Beef Sirloin - Very good Beef Tongue - Good Beef Rib Finger - Very good Premium Pork Jaw - Good Prime Beef Belly - Good Marinated Green Mussels - NOT; brine is not considered a marinade. Corn Cheese - Okay Rice bowls (x2) Banchans Service was good but not without its share of hiccups. Be sure to get what you ordered; things can easily go unchecked and end up simply missing. - Had to ask for my initial bowl of rice; forgotten. - Ordered an order of Corn Cheese; did not receive original request. I had to reorder a second time. - Requested Steamed Egg; did not receive original order. Did not bother reordering. Big Aloha! Food: 4 Ambiance: 3 Service: 3 Value: 3+

Yelp
ZIP KBBQ is the "Best" AYCE KBBQ restaurant in Orange County that located in city of Tustin. The meat was top-quality, perfectly marinated, and cooked right at the table to sizzling perfection. The service was excellent, fast, friendly, and attentive they kept everything coming without us ever needing to ask twice. Tons of delicious banchan (Korean side dishes), fresh veggies, and dipping sauces made everything taste even better. If you're craving for delicious AYCE KBBQ, this place is your one stop KBBQ restaurant.
google avatar

Vincent P.

Yelp
Decent! And I was surprised! First of all, the price for AYCE is great. The quality of meats are above average, however the sides choices are meager but still tasty. The place is a little small, and understaffed, but they all did so well servicing us and it's quite busy last night. We did all the beef cuts, and it was delicious. Again the quality is very very good. Will definitely come back!
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
*ZIP IS NO LONGER ALL YOU CAN EAT* Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Zip. This was my go-to kbbq spot and I would come with friends regularly. We absolutely loved it and it was so convenient! However, I have just been informed that this is no longer an AYCE establishment - 6 small meat options and a veggie (that you have to request!) now costs $80. You must pay for all sides now, and rice is $3. I am so disappointed - I loved this restaurant and to hear that they have upcharged so much is heartbreaking. There is a sign outside that says "unzip a new experience" - this is clearly an attempt at making this change ~exciting~ when in reality it's a gross way to say they have increased prices. Just a suggestion to zip: don't trick people into coming to your restaurant. It's not cute.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
All you can eat Korean bbq. Service was ok. Seating is tight so restaurant feels crowded. Food was pretty average. Service was fine . Right next to the circle fountain in the district.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
This place was not packed and we were able to sit right away. The meats were good but I wish there more options for the banchans like the noodles etc. Overall it was nice and well-cleaned.

Nicole K.

Yelp
We loved our first experience at Zip Korean BBQ. Edgar was our server and did not disappoint - he was extremely attentive and friendly. The food was delicious - we will be back!

Jimmy N.

Yelp
Attentive service! Portion sizes are perfect - not too big, but they're always ready for you to re-order more - so it gave us chances to try new things. Gotta love the K Pop videos in the background.
google avatar

Flower M.

Yelp
this place is pretty good! they had a variety of different meats and sides, there's a lot of different food to choose from. the service was friendly and our server gave us advice on how to cook the different meats! just to be noted their dinner price is all day on the weekends. i would recommend this spot!
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
Wow! What an experience i had at zip! Went with the premium ayce, which is priced incredibly at $38!! They had all my favorite cuts of meat and then some! Beautiful cuts of brisket, prime short rib, marinated garlic sirloin tips, and massive jumbo prawns! The prawns were mini lobster tails! All fresh and absolutely tasty. My favorite of the night was the short rib, melt in mouth quality. Service was exceptional. Our server Raul was great attentive. He walked us through everything and even Cooked all of our meats. Ambiance is clean and nice - spacious, open layout with plenty of tables. They have tv screens that play cool music that sets the vibe! Well done Zip, My new favorite KBBQ in OC!!
google avatar

Quinn N.

Yelp
Likes: + Yummy kbbq. Mouth-watering and flavorful with the 3 different sauces + Plenty of parking + Polite, helpful staff + On a weekday afternoon, there was plenty of seating available. Non-likes: - The Yelp check-in offer for a free dessert is expired, even though it still shows on their Yelp page/app. - After I showed the check-in to the waiter and he said it's expired, he said that they offer a dessert if I leave a review. I didn't wanna redeem this type of offer before my peers. I think they should just un-expire the Yelp check-in reward.
google avatar

Vivian P.

Yelp
AYCE IS BACK!!!! I heard this place was al la carte and recently transitioned to AYCE so my cousins and I decided to try it. It was right next to AMC so it was super convenient. FAVORITES: beef tongue, boneless short ribs, brisket and their steamed egg (must try) The service was super quick and everyone was friendly. We even tried their drinks and they were all delish!!!
google avatar

Alexander F.

Yelp
Price is about average for an AYCE KBBQ place and options are pretty decent. Been here a few times with my girlfriend and friends ad we like it. This was the place that introduced us to the concept of roasted pineapple with cinnamon sugar (which one of my friend really likes). Meat is fresh and was pretty good. Beef belly has a nice fat to meat ration and I didn't feel that quality decreased as we ordered more. Side dishes are nice and fresh. Our favorites are always beef belly and pork jowl. We recently got into large intestine and it was pretty good here, as long as you know how to cook it correctly. Service was good but sometimes it can be hit or miss. Sometimes we get pretty good service while other times our server would forget some items. But overall my experiences here was good.
google avatar

Daniel Y.

Yelp
Typical Korean bbq, the wait staff actually does most of the cooking for you and they explain which cuts of meats are being cooked. They'll tend the process and cut the meats for you to pick up from the grill. This is not an all you can eat type of Korean bbq. And you have to order the from preset options of meats. It gets pricey really fast and compared to the AYCE establishments you may leave here still hungry.
google avatar

Ethan K.

Yelp
Good experience here. The meats were fresh, tender, and juicy with so many delicious flavors to choose from. The staff was attentive, and friendly. I will be come back.
google avatar

Andy V.

Yelp
1. The quality of the meat were good, and the marinated short ribs were really delicious! The side dishes also paired well with the meat! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes with lots of seatings! 3. The staff were friendly, and they checked on us during this Sunday Lunch! 4. Parking is plenty at this outdoor shopping center! Note: You can only order up to 3 plates of meat and up to 3 Kitchen items per round! Photo: Rice, AYCE Meat, Banchan - Side Dishes

Gaby R.

Yelp
Only came to try this place because I noticed they serve the steamed egg pot...however our party of 3 was only allowed to order 2, due to the egg shortage??? Yes, I understand but why bother to offer it then? The server asked us if we wanted the premium menu yet there were many meats not available. 3 stars only because they do serve a lot of meat and the food was good.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Generous portions, good quality meat, and staff were attentive. We arrived at 12PM on a Saturday and were one of the first guests. Kitchen was slightly slow, took about 10 minutes to get the meats. Once the meats arrived, the portions were more than expected. I would come back because they have a good selection of meats and sides at a great price for the Irvine/Tustin area.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
First time trying this place and I had a great experience! The quality of the meat on everything was really good. Typically you would start to get meat with more fat when you're past the second or third order but that wasn't the case here. I came for the weekday Lunch menu ($25.96), which includes the following: Prime Angus Beef Brisket, Premium Pork Belly, Thinly Sliced Pork Belly, Large Ox Intestine, Small Ox Intestine, Gourmet Smoked Sausage, Black Angus Beef Bulgogi, Sliced Spicy Pork Collar Bulgogi, Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy Chicken They also have two dinner menus, Standard ($35.95) and Premium ($45.95), that have different protein selections. Although the sides are the same for all menus: Steamed Egg, Garlic and Jalapenos, Mushrooms and Onion, Soy Bean Paste Soup, Corn Cheese, Cinnamon Pineapple, Tofu Soup, Spicy Rice Cakes, Bowl of Rice The interior was super clean and vibrant. It was refreshing to dine there and not that you would normally go for ambiance at a KBBQ place, it was really nice to have that for a change. No sticky tables and they were generous with giving you lots of sauce and side dishes. The service was good as well. The staff was attentive. I would definitely come back again and get the standard menu for the beef tongue, that and the brisket were my favorites. Excited to try the other items on the full menu next time!
google avatar

Manuel D.

Yelp
Comfy, clean, well maintained place with kind service, if a little slow and clumsy at times. The restaurant had just opened and was nowhere near full, but our orders would still take very long, with some items arriving much later or being forgotten entirely. That being said, the food itself was good, and their AYCE lunch prices were the lowest I've seen in any KBBQ place in recent years, so it's totally worth a visit. Worth noting: their lunch options are also offered on the weekend, despite what the sign says!
google avatar

Jean P.

Yelp
You want an excellent server? Matthew, Our server was really good. If we took my parents here when they visit there then I would want him. My dad would love him explaining all the things barbecue and since I've been a little into the Korean barbecue lately, I would Like to show them this.
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
the best deal is their bulgogi bowl. massive, super tasty and available all day. i honestly was expecting a smaller portion but it ia HUGE and super tasty. not what i would have expected in a high rent place like the district.

Yelp
I'm not really sure where to start.... Mixed emotions of sad, angry and disappointed of what this has become. Sad to see my favorite AYCE Korean bbq spot in the area turn into a disappointing non-ayce restaurant. The review is for their soft opening, so maybe they will improve. I'll list a few points as there is just too much to write. I used to frequent this place at least once a month with friends, family and co-workers. 1. No more potato salad banchan 2. No rice paper available on the day I went 3. Mid tier for two is $80, and includes "Premium" teriyaki chicken!!! - this has to be a Joke. lol. 4. No substitutions on meats 5. Corn cheese not included in combo and costs $9 to add - why would any reasonable person pay for this when they already ordered a "premium combo" 6. tofu soup and soy bean stew not included 7. Steamed egg not included 8. Waiters don't know how to cook for you, lack of experience. Although they do flip meat here and there. 9. Bulgogi sauce changed and not very good 10. Brisket is changed and not as good as before. 11. On a positive note, the pork belly was actually good. 12. Includes a good portion of veggies. Maybe a positive? 13. No more kpop playing on their TV's - negative for me at least. 14. No to go boxes available - I'll give them a semi pass on this since soft opening. In summary, i sincerely hope management goes back to what the restaurant was, a really good value ayce kbbq spot that excelled in the mid tier. But perhaps increase in wages and food inflation no longer makes ayce restaurant viable.

Yelp
Zip Korean BBQ is a great place for AYCE kbbq! It's my girlfriend and my favorite AYCE spot, and we drive from Garden Grove to come here, which is saying a lot since we have so many great kbbq spots closer already. The quality of the meat is good, and the price is fair. The service is about average, which honestly above average for a kbbq place. Prepare for a wait on the expected busy nights- you have to go in person to put your name on the Yelp waitlist.

Yelp
My friends and I came in last night and we were able to get us seated within 15 minutes. We decided to go with the standard menu option which had a good amount of choices. I know that most places are having serving issues but when you order meats from the menu and it never shows up and you have to keep asking and even then we still never got the short ribs...that's just bad service, period. In fact, we had to ask several times for everything: forks, napkins, water, straws, sauce. The side dishes at Korean BBQ are not for me. They all taste horrible but that's not particular to this place, it's just me. The meats were OK. The chicken wasn't very good and the mushrooms (which I normally love) tasted really bad. But what really got me was they charge an 18% SERVICE charge for large parties. I get that most places charge an 18% GRATUITY fee for the server but this 18% was just an "extra" charge for having a large party. HELL NO WAY!!! That wasn't made clear when we were seated. We also didn't receive quality service or all the items that we requested. It was close to $50/per person and I wasn't happy with the meal or service at all. Then they sneak in this extra charge...just on principle alone, I'll never go back. Large parties beware!!!

Yelp
The staff was nice, the only complaint was we started being served foods and sides but weren't given any plates, utensils, cups for water, napkins, etc. Felt a little bad asking each time we realized we were missing something. The food was good, I recommend the short rib and brisket. The spicy pork bulgogi and the premium pork belly were good, but I'd be okay passing on those next time. The soybean paste soup side was delicious!! One of the waiters was actually really helpful and funny, but I didn't get a name. Overall a good time!!

Yelp
What a jioke. Unlike most Korean BBQ this place up charges for the items you would normally order. And not on the regular menu. And always close early. Stay away from this place, it's a joke.
