Zip's Drive in

This was my first experience with a Zips being from out of state. The locations was a tad run down, but staff were helpful and friendly and the fish was especially delicious. I asked for recommendations from staff and received no less than five. We ordered a bunch of food, a hurricane with gummy worms (at our toddler's request) and a vanilla malt and we're pleased with all of it.

I’m a DoorDash driver (6,300 deliveries) I don’t appreciate the African American “gentleman” that is back there flipping burgers being rude about dashers and talking loudly because we try to come through the drive thru “I’ve dashed there’s not a single place in Spokane that allows you to pickup in the drive thru before 9pm” - Burger Boy Well buddy I’m sorry to break it to you but there’s plenty of places that allow you to and you must not have worked DoorDash long enough to know. I asked for extra cheese. This is not extra cheese. I asked Doubleday pap burger before I left and she the owner made My pap Joe burger and she claims that this is extra cheese. What is your opinion? I paid for something I feel I did not receive. They would not add any extra cheese or remake it. I am not a satisfied customer.

Despite the slightly run down appearance best fast food I've had in years! It was fresh and cooked to perfection.

I would rate this place similar to any McDonald's. We just moved to Spokane and this drive in seems to be everywhere so we figured we had to give it a try. Would I eat it again! Sure just like I would any other fast food place but it's nothing special.

It’s ridiculous to pay 10$ for 1 burger to just have to throw it away the second I get home because the bun is soggy and soaked in grease. Wt? Won’t be back - another poor experience not worth spending money

Came by after a flight into Spokane for some college nostalgia and was very disappointed they were closed. Their hours are advertised on google and apple as closing at midnight on Friday, yet they were closed up by 11:15 when I came by for a burger. Please update your hours

Let me tell you about the zips on division I'm an Uber driver and Lyft driver and we are supposed to use the bathrooms wherever we need to use them. I was denied using the bathroom at zips I was gonna buy lunch. I always buy lunch there at zips on division never had a problem. Well today I couldn't use the bathroom unless I bought something first what kind of bullshit is that? I'm gonna make sure that no one comes to your goddamn Restaurant motherfucking zips.

Horrible value on a hot fudge.Sundae, don't give me.The people were pleasant, but it's half.Maybe a third , the size of most other zipp's hot fudge sunday for $5.69

Nostalgic visiting here again. Best tarter and burgers. Gotta get the ones with ham! Missed this place.

Fry sauce! Yum! Make sure you try a papa Joe and a half and half cone. You can also get chocolate ice cream instead of vanillas in the Hurricanes.

Every time I go there is a hair in my food or some other gross thing. This place musty af. Service is decent but slow.

Bro, people are really upset over a fast food place the negative comments are hilarious. Here's a review for those who don't consider yourselves master chefs: The food is delicious. The milkshakes are straight fire. The prices are very reasonable. Does it take time to make food? Sure, especially if they're busy. Are they black tie servers? Nah, they're just regular people working their job. Lower your 5 star expectations for a fast food burger joint and enjoy your meal. Zips is worth it

A good, average Zips . . . I've been in a few times. Good to very good fish but small pieces, the usual Zip's fries. Am taking two stars for one reason . . . this is the only Zip's I know of in Spokane that does not do a Fish & Chips Friday Discount. Found that out the hard way . . . If I wanted to spend nearly 20.00, I would have gone a few blocks over the the Viking.

I came in and had a wonderful dinner at this Zips's location with my parents yesterday. We came in and got a large order of fish and chips and shakes and they where very fresh and tasty and the manager went out of her way to make sure my parents and I had what we needed the entire meal. I don't feel like people go on and posts enough on yelp when they have positive experiences at different restaurants they go to so I wanted to make sure I gave this Zip's a shout out for this awesome experience I had here yesterday.

Went there last night with my girlfriend. At first, we thought it was a drive in, old-school style burger joint; it wasn't. They had a drive through and a place to sit inside. At first thought, I figured the burgers would be sloppy and made fast due to the drive through, and the place seemed a little "outdated". For one moment, I almost wanted to just go back home, but we decided "oh well, we're here, let's try it out", so we went inside. I've ordered a Triple Bacon Burger with extra bacon, and my girlfriend got what they call a Mascot. On the side, we got a trio (friends, tater tots and onion rings). Then we sat. It actually took a little longer than I expect but that was for the best. It didn't take long by any means but definitely wasn't a "fast food". Within first few bites I was amazed on how delicious and flavorful our burgers were. I was like wow, what a hit! I finished my whole burger in one sittings with no hesitation whatsoever. I was very surprised on how good it came to be. Their spices and sauces that they used to make it were just TOP notch. It was perfect flavor, not too greasy, it was great. Moral of the story, don't judge place before you try it (unless if it looks like a total mess that is, lol). Anyways, I'll be back and I'm looking forward to it!

I was getting over the stomach flu when we stopped in so i will have to update my review later... However I do want to say the older gal taking our order was grumpy and not overly interested in friendly customer service... I might have been ordering from a kiosk .. actually the kiosk would probably at least said hi, thank you and come again.. LOL

OK... I read the other reviews and I have to say "chill bruh's and sis's. You're missing the point." I grew up in Hillyard but I've lived in Spokane, Portland, Chicago, Grand Rapids, New York City (Manhattan for 8 years, Brooklyn for 2), and I now live in Downtown Los Angeles. And obviously I've traveled to a lot of cities. Portland introduced me to novelty like VooDoo Donuts. Chicago opened my eyes to gourmet duck-fried fries and rattlesnake hot dogs at the now closed Hot Dougs. While in NY I worked in the fashion world and was treated to some of the best food you could imagine on sets and with clients - our catering on sets often had better food than 99% of the restaurants in Spokane or other cities. I'm happy to say I've tried a lot. But Zips is the #1 fast food burgers in any city and I'll explain why. Let me explain this to tourists: Everyone who grew up in Spokane heard rumors that the tartar sauce was made in garbage cans. Is it true? I dunno. Does it matter? Who cares? It's ZIPS!!! ZIPS IS TRASH FOOD! It's GOOD Trash! If anything, you would WANT the tartar sauce to be made in a giant rubbermaid garbage can lined with plastic because it would make even more sense! Go to New York and have some Shake Shack: It's expensive, small, fresh, and clean. But you talk to any new Yorker and they'll all say "Eh... It's ok. It's all we got." This is New York's #1 Burger place and nobody truly likes it. People go to SS just to please the dumb tourists. Shake Shack is publicly traded and your 401k is probably now partially invested in a burger place the locals dislike but nobody admits. Now come to LA. Say to people "I want to go to a place with tons of fatty greasy foods at an outdated non-insta friendly burger place." They'll tell you "noo" and push to go to In-n-Out if you promise to take a good pic for the gram. Get to in-n-out and you'll see the food is REALLY great, the ingredients are ultra fresh, and the stores are clean modern kitsch. The fresh faced employees smile and have weirdly sparkling clean skin. It's constantly busy and may take you 25 minutes to get your food. All the customers look beautiful and healthy. You pay $10 for burger/fries/soda combo and can get all the "Animal Sauce" you want for free. You walk out beyond full and ready to puke because the fresh ingredients just filled you up soooo well. I love In-n-Out BUT... it's NOT Zips. Zips beats In-n-Out. Why do I love Zips more? Because I hate myself enough to allow myself to make bad decisions but love myself enough to indulge in "Bad-Bad, not good-bad." A simple way of looking at it is seeing it like Goldilocks: the 1st fast food place is too healthy... the 2nd is not as healthy but not as bad for you... but Zips is JUST right and is perfectly bad for you. The 1st fast food restaurants is too clean and perfect... the 2nd is insta friendly but sucks... but Zips is JUST right because it doesn't give a F. And so on... And that is the thing: Zips IS Spokane. Spokane isn't Seattle. It isn't Portland. It isn't Boise. It's this city where people are trapped in a time machine 10 years ago.... AND IT IS FINE LIKE THAT. It doesn't need to be trendy when it has a freak'n waterfall rushing through downtown, when it has a 45 year old goat that eats your trash, and when Idaho and Canada are RIGHT THERE. Just like Spokane, Zips is trapped in its own time and world and we are ok with that! Zips and Spokane are a lot like Weiner Circle in Chicago. If you aren't familiar, Weiner Circle is this place that sells hot dogs to drunks in Wrigleyville. The employees are from South Chicago and there is always a verbal fight between the customers and the employees. The food is good but nobody cares because you get to experience something you will only get in a city like Chicago. Chicago and Weiner Circle knows they are not New York or LA. Spokane and Zips knows it's not Seattle or Portland (or even Boise...). And that is why the locals love it. The food fits the city. For those of you who are expecting something nicer, you're dumb. Zips represents the laid back, fatty, greasy, good food loaded with bad calories and carbs you can't get in pretentious cities. The food is really good if you plan to eat bad food from a local place that hasn't changed since it added a drive thru window. You can't get greasy burgers and a tub of fries loaded with the fattest vat of tartar sauce anywhere else. And you can't get the special charm of the people of Spokane anywhere else. Don't like the taste if your burger? Dip it in sauce. Need more sauce? Get out of your dumb rental car, sit in the restaurant, and fill up the soufflé cups like a local. Hop off your phone and read the Inlander or one of the other random magazines sitting by the door. So for the tourists giving this place 1- star and complaining: Just go and eat a bag of Dicks. (yes, I'm serious... go to Dicks on 3rd and eat a big bag of dicks. It's like Zip's little cousin).

Yesterday was a long and exhausting day for my family and the blonde manager at the lower Division Zips didn't make it any better. My sister was hit by an SUV yesterday and to make things easier for her and all her kids I decided to pick up a large order of food for dinner. The guy in the drive through window was really nice and I didn't have any problems with him. He handed me 4 bags of food, one small ice cream cone and one regular milkshake. He listed here's the specialty order bag, here's 2 tubs of fries (each had their own bag), and here are the burgers. He said that was everything and to have a great night. I get to my sister's place and she lives all the way up on the south hill. I start pulling food out and realize we don't have all of our burgers, there's only 5 out of 8. That means 3 of our very tired, very hungry family isn't getting a chance to eat. I called the store and spoke to an associate that said she would get her manager. I got on the phone with the manager herself and she told me she's the one that didn't hand off the other 3 burgers to the guy in the window and she takes full responsibility. She told me to drive back down and she would have my 3 burgers. I told her that I know she didn't mean to but it's a huge inconvenience especially tonight and I let her know what happened to my sister and that I was now about 15-20 minutes away on the south hill. She replied I know how long it takes I live on the south hill, your burgers will be here when you get here. I thought that was already extremely rude to be so dismissive about her mistake. So I get back in my car and drive all the way down there. When i get there she already had an attitude like I have inconvenienced her. I asked her, despite her snotty disposition, if we could get an extra tub of fries because those of us who didn't get burgers will now be eating cold fries. She cut me off to tell me that will be $8.11. I said no I'm sorry what I meant was if you could just compensate a tub of fries for us for the inconvenience of our time, money and gas. She half laughed and said no I can't do that for you. I only didn't give you 3 burgers not fries. You got your fries so I don't have to replace those. I asked her if she was serious and she said yes. I was so upset I looked at her and told her she was an awful manager and she squinted her eyes and smiled and replied thanks. I was so shocked it looked as though she enjoyed making me upset. One of the worst food service experiences I've ever had. I will not be giving this location my money and I suggest you don't either.

I was staying in Spokane recently and kept seeing people with zips. "What is a 'zips?'" i would ask them...and I was told they were a burger place with the best tartar sauce around. I had to try it. I drove from my hotel and went through the drive thru.. They were fast! So the burger was ok; a little plain for me but the tartar sauce!!! It was so good! It went perfect with the fries.. And it just hit the spot. I really want to try their milkshakes next time I go. Let me explain about the burger though. I'm the kind of person that likes alot of extras on my burger. This one was just their normal cheeseburger and it had pickles, mustard, ketchup, and cheese. Much too plain for my taste. Oh well...

Absolutely horrible food. The bacon cheeseburger look like it been dipped in oil. Ordered onion rings instead of french fries and they were completely limp and mushy. I will not use this restaurant again.

Walked across the street from another burger joint who's dining room was closed for still for some reason in 2021....only to find Zip's Dining room is closed as well! What the heck Zips? I know I've eaten at the other one downtown multiple times throughout the pandemic...so what's this ones excuse? Not all of us have a car for drive-thru. I'm an airline pilot in town for work only. We take hotel shuttles to and from work and walk everywhere else. It's time to reopen dining rooms guys. I ended up going to the long established legend at the corner of I90 and Division...where the picnic tables are solid as ever and open for business.

Zip's is one of those places, every time I am in Spokane, I just have to visit. It's a good greasy burger, the tots and fries are always fresh, if you want a shake, they are hard to beat. The beer battered onion rings are solid as well, it's a relatively inexpensive place that hits all the right notes, especially late at night.

Never been to a Zips so I gave them a try. So glad I did. Burgers and Fries with their sauce are awesome. I will definitely be back.

Zips is a must stop for us when we visit from MT. We hadn't visited this location before. They had trouble hearing us over our truck at the drive thru, but instead of asking us to turn the truck off the lady rushed out the back door and took our order truck side. Never had that happen before! The wait was about 8 minutes but the food was FRESH and delicious and worth the wait.

Luckily, I didn't let the low Yelp rating dissuade me from eating at Zip's. It was the greasy, yummy, bacony burger I was looking for. The crinkle cut fries were crispy and the onion rings were well battered. Was the burger a thick, juicy masterpiece? Heck no. Was it a delicious, cheap, and well-cooked meaty sandwich. Sure was. The fry sauce was yummy and I took the advice of another review on here and heartily dipped my burger, fries, and rings in it. If I lived here, my local Zip's would probably know me.

You have to try the Papa Joe with a Tub of Fries. Don't forget tarter for those fries. My wife and I just drove from Seattle to Boise and the only must stop on the 600 mile (each way) trip was Zips. Darned near as good as Dick's Drive-in in Seattle!!!!

Driver thru chick was gorgeous outside of that food was terrible. Cold tots, cold burger.

I went there for the first time last week at 11:50 and people were leaving the building trying to close but kept their open sign on and it took forever to get our food. A lot of workers were pissy and the food was shit (warm, squished, small portions). I decided to try and come back again- the following week on a Wednesday at Noon and once again- it was terrible. Service took forever and just not worth it. I will never go here again lol

They wanted to charge me full drink price for tap water. Do not come here. Rip-off. This is not the Zips I know.

Cashier was extremely rude. They messed up my burger--how hard is it to do JUST pickles? I asked for a cup of water. She informed me that is $2.00 A bottle is $1.75 or what not, a large soda is $2.25 A 8oz plastic cup is $2.00?!? Are you insane? The food was fast but it wasn't anything worth bragging about. The bacon was over cooked and completely flavorless...how can bacon, a staple of americana cuisine NOT taste like bacon? Aside from the flavorless food, the cashier was just a royal btch so I'll never go back.

A place that is open 24 hours in little ol' Cheney? Aweeeesoooome! Burgers, fries, shakes, every bit of American gluttony that one could imagine from a fast food joint? Please, sign me up. Zips saved me one afternoon in Cheney because I didn't have time to grab lunch and didn't know when I'd have the opportunity to get dinner later that night. A burger and a shake cured my hunger and allowed me to focus on the next 54 hours' worth of work (or what had felt to me like 54 hours). Oh yeah, free WiFi too. That's always a plus!

Zip's was the best burger I had in Spokane. The size and price were just right, and the fries were delicious. Again, it's fast-food, so you can't be expecting the meal of a life-time, but definitely a DELICIOUS burger. I've heard they're notorious for being SLOW at the drive-through, but we went inside right at lunch time, and service was extremely quick -- so maybe you save time by going inside? Who woulda thought?

The worst burger restaurant I have ever been to in the Spokane region. I am not a picky eater because I know a lot of the fast food taste similar in many ways. This just missed the mark on my rainbow colored checklist period. Biggest ripoff and a disappointment in my life. Do not let the billboards' flashing neon sales pitch grab your fullest and complete attention. Who will exclude the fries and the sodas from all the burgers, sequester everything to make them appear cheaper, and then have customers get the big picture after the purchase has been made? I decided to opt for the burger combo with soda and fries. You would surmise at first glance this is would a good combo like at other places correct? Guess again, the prices did not add up correctly. Somehow it ended up close to nineteen dollars. The burger itself is small and does not possess much patty flavors to begin with. Fries did not meet what I had in mind to say the least. They were all too coated with grease for me to properly feast on them. That is one extra trip to the gym for me now. This is unacceptable even for a semi formal looking sit down restaurant. Forget about it y'all, you know what my consensus is over here. I do not know how a Washington fast food chain restaurant like this can operate so many locations and provide subpar food. This is the closest thing I have come across if I were to define a scandal in my own words. Even the dean at my school can flip burgers better without charring them significantly. I do not get the hype with all the positive reviews, major existentialism reevaluation needed here pronto.

This place is like Burgermaster style but less focus on breakfast coffee etc. You have to try as this seems a local chain.

Well I love Zip's and go every time I am back home in Spokane. I have even considered opening up a location in Las Vegas! I usually never end up at this Division location and now I know not to go there. My fav Zip's is actually on Francis; I also like the one on Monroe/Indiana and the one downtown on 3rd. Pretty sure all locations are independently owned and this one is just not as good as it once was when I was a lot younger. I believe this location is open 24/7. So 10:30pm/drive-thru. We ordered 2 milkshakes, a hamburger, and a corn-dog. I LOVE Zip's fry sauce, it really doesn't get much better. I asked for tarter, fry sauce, and mustard. What we got was a dried out hamburger patty, a corn-dog, and 8 tarter sauces. Mostly all went to waste; I hate wasting anything. No straws for our shakes either.... All the way from Las Vegas for fry sauce and didn't any, lame. Try a different Zips.

Love their tartar sauce and their awesome hamburgers and they're curly fries and eggnog milkshakes are the "best"

It was almost midnight Saturday, & we were downtown hoping for someplace open and serving food. The yellow sign for Zips that reads "Open 24 hours" was like a sign from heaven. My husband & I debated just going through the drive-thru, but since it was his first time at a Zips we decided to park and go in to peruse the menu at our leisure. I ordered a Belly Buster plain with pickles, & my husband got a Papa Joe. We also got a cup of water for our friend waiting out in the van. They didn't charge us for it - I mention this because I've seen some reviews that complained about them charging for a cup of water. It took a couple minutes for them to bring our food out, since it had to be freshly cooked. In the meantime, since the cashier had gone to help cook the food, a customer came in & was wondering if they were still open. Apparently that customer had missed the big '24 hours' part of the sign. I checked my burger before we left - it was exactly how I'd ordered it. I ate it in the van, & it was deliciously salty from the pickles and bacon and everything. It was a greasy sodium bomb, just the way I like it.

We were refused service by a very rude lady. Ditched that place and went to McDonald's instead! That's where it's at!!!

Today I partook in Zips' signature root-beer shake. The shake had a texture reminiscent of a milkshake, with a flavor profile similar to that of a root-beer float. All and all i give Zip's and their root-beer shake a rating of 15/16 gargoyle geckos.

The tables are stickier than a lonely Alaskan man but my man Tim is the only reason I gave anything above 1 star. His hype got me excited about waiting in line for my food. Seriously Tim is a homie G forreal.

My brother and I were visiting Spokane a few years ago, and came across this place, decided to try the fish and chips, and it was very good. We've gone back everytime since. It was the first place I ever went to that had the Coke machine with all the varied flavors in it - raspberry, vanilla, cherry, etc.

Worst experiance I've ever had at a Zips location. Went through the drive thru and the man taking our order was extremely hard to understand, he made us repeat the order twice (bacon double cheese, big zipper, tub of fries and some tarter sauce) still couldn't get it correct and then muttered whatever and went to dead air...no repeat of the order or total. Finally got to the window and got a gruff demand for payment without him even looking at us. Asked him to repeat our order...no fries or tarter, changed total and waited for our food. What a disappointment, burger were cold, fries were soggy and super salty (had the scrape off salt crystals!) And still no tarter after paying for it. Doubt we will be going back to this location again.

No air conditioning. Strike one. No napkins, you have to ask for them. Strike two. If you want water, you'll need to buy a cup for get this a DOLLAR FIFTY. Strike three and you're out. Second time I've had a bad experience here. I'll NEVER go back.

Zip's claims it has "world famous" tartar sauce. Even though you can't find Zip's outside of Eastern Washington and possibly Idaho. The tartar sauce goes great with the tub o' fries. And it's damn fine tartar too. It's actually tart not sweet like how the Southerners make it. If you're really bold try the Dog Goner aka Homo/Homer Buster. It's a hamburger/hotdog hybrid that only the bold and insane eat.

Zip's was unprofessional and rude. If you are hungry and you decide because it's a hot day to get water don't got to zip's because they could care less... They forgot part of my order and out right ignored my request for water until I asked a second time and they wanted me to swipe my card again for 1.90... If it wasn't for their ice cream I would never go again.

I got a regular ketchup must with pickles American burger for $1.90, it was ok nothing special but was open later than most restaurants on the strip. Price was cheap service started off not friendly but it was late and ended on a happier note think she thought I was cute or maybe she had a sudden urge for hot chocolate j/k.

Smells like a public restroom! food was good... So if you like eating while using the restroom.... This place is for you! And they have a cool coke machine.

Very expensive for what you get. $3.50 for a double cheeseburger with hardly any meat. $3.20 for a large of the same frozen fries/tots that get dumped off the same SYSCO truck to everyone in town. Yet everyone else sells them for less. I mean they're open 24 hours in some spots and I guess they're local instead of a national chain. But I'm struggling to find any redeeming qualities other than the fact that they have tater tots and they don't charge for fry/tartar sauce. But still. It's $7+ for not very much food and the food is not of any quality. The patties were shriveled up. The bun was crushed. Overall highly disappointing since people really seem to consider some sort of Spokane institution. Even judged against other fast food burger joints it is not good.

They are a bit pricey for what they serve and the size of their burger is kind of small. The burgers are not top quality and only slightly above McDonalds burgers. The most redeeming quality about this place is the giant bucket of tots or fries for only like 4 bucks. Drive thru was terrible so I would definitely recommend going in to be served.

Tables sticky and dirty. Didn't get what we ordered. Even the shakes were a mess. Only positive is im not hungry any more
