Restaurant & Hotel Zirbelstube

Great Experience! all perfect and really interesting and a good surprise at every course. excellent service professional

I had a business dinner at Zirbelstube with colleagues. It came highly recommended, and did not disappoint. This is not a place to come if you are in a rush, but that is what I liked about it. You are given sufficient time to enjoy each course and the atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed and quiet, which is great for talking and enjoying almost an "at home" ambiance. But the biggest praise must be reserved for the food, which is absolutely top-notch - local flavours and style, but the presentation and quality is fine dining. They have excellent combinations of food and wine as well. I was not responsible for the bill, but from what I saw, given the quality, the value for money was excellent, but of course in absolute terms it is not a budget restaurant. If I am in the area again, I would love to go back to Zirbelstube!

The owners are a very nice family! We were wanting to stay in Nuremberg but no hotels were available. Though there is transportation available, it takes two stops and about 45 minutes to get in to town. That is not the main issue, however. Being out farther, I though we would have a quiet location. Unfortunately, there is a busy street right in front of the hotel with constant road noise with trucks. There is no air conditioning so you have to have the windows open and earplugs don't do the trick. The room is fairly small but doable, however the bathroom is miniscule. Hard to even turn around. The breakfast is not bad but not up to what I expected from such a culinary family. I have had much better in Germany. All of this would have been perhaps OK, but the cost per night was much too high for what you receive. I would not stay there again nor recommend it.||The restaurant, however, is quite another matter. The food was outstanding! The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The cost is high, but you are willing to pay it because of the excellent food. Highly recommend the restaurant if you are in the area. You do not have to be staying there to make a reservation.

We stayed here for a couple of nights when attending an exhibition at the Nuernberg fairgrounds. The tiny restaurant produced one of the best meals we have had in Germany - the only place we can think of which matches it is the InterContinental in Berchtesgaden. The set meal with selected wines is superb with a total of 7 courses and justifies its 81 Euro price tag. It is also possible to eat a la carte for considerably less - my 2 courses cost 34 Euros. The hotel is close to the autobahn too so convenient for an overnight stop and right beside the old canal, with nice walks along the tow path. The rooms were rather basic and not equipped for comfort on longer stays but it was OK for a weekend.

I had what should have been the pleasure of dining here with a group, and although the food and wines were excellent in quality, the length of time between courses ruined the evening for the whole party. Even if you are dining at your leisure, this kind of delay is not acceptable. It really was a shame.||||Note if you are vegetarian I would suggest you select another place to dine. Even though I thought it was clear to the server that I was not eating any meat except seafood, I was still served a salad topped with bacon, and an initial dish of what looked and smelled like mushrooms, but was actually a collection of stewed organ meats. ||||For food and drink quality, the place rates 5 stars, but the service rated 1 star, hence my 3 star average.

I reserved a dobble room 1 mounth before IWA and five days before arrivel I got a mail from the Hotel saying that they have overbooked the Hotel and there was no room for us. They tryed to get us an other room on a other Hotel but that did not work out. I hope that they get a system so that this never happens again, not funny not to have a room five days before IWA and everything is sold out.

Great place for an excellent dinner and relaxing evening.
