The best part of having an appointment on the other side of the city is trying new spots that I usually wouldn't...only because there's similar restos closer to me.
Zitouna opened in May 2025, taking over Layaly that closed in 2019. Visited on a Monday during lunch and there was only one table dining in. Fast-casual service, order and pay before seating yourself.

Mediterranean with Tunisian and Jordanian touches - cold + warm apps, salads, pita/wraps, kebabs, and shawarma. Affordable pricing with nothing over $24.99.

* Lamb Shank w/ hummus, salad, rice, pita ($24.99): https://tinyurl.com/4b7jsjhm
I appreciate the meaty lamb shank that I was able to stretch to two meals but it was on the tough side and needed to be braised longer. I'm used to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare being reliant on spices, herbs, and/or citrus for flavor so I was surprised that the lamb was so salty. Served with warm pita, creamy hummus, greens dressed with a very sour vinaigrette, and fluffy basmati rice.
For my friends' takeout, I ordered Mixed Shawarma w/ marinated lamb + beef, chicken, and kofta ($18.99) and the Lamb Shank ($24.99). They said, the food was ok, preferring the lamb shank over the mixed shawarma.

Warm, welcoming service. The dine in order took awhile to come out (25 minutes) so I wished they served the pita while waiting for your order.

Love how they brightened up the former Layaly space - whites and greens with décor rooted in nature. There's about a dozen tables indoors with sidewalk seating and back patio in the works.

Ridic hard street parking even on a weekday.
Overall, I didn't love my dish but Zitouna is new and has potential.
