Presotea, a Taiwanese Bubble Tea Chain, Is Taking on Montreal | Eater Montreal

"At the St-Mathieu location I found it’s paired with local sweets-maker Zoe Dessert, which focuses on east-Asian–tinged treats such as shaved-ice bingsu and Hong Kong–style bubble waffles, providing desserts alongside the Presotea drinks." - Tim Forster

Google
Great ice cream with lots of delicious choices. The quality is worth it, but the wait can be long and the shop feels very cramped. Still a nice treat if you don’t mind the crowd.

Nathalie P.

Google
This place is heaven's desserts! I just discovered the place and I can't wait to come back and try more sweets! I had the mango special and it was delicious 😋 Soooo many more delightful options available. I'll be back!

Lina Q.

Google
We came here for dessert after dinner. It was one of my favorite dessert places in Montreal. I ordered 芦荟杨枝甘露. It was really good! I love all mango desserts. They also have amazing crepe cakes. I've tried all three flavors (vanilla, matcha and tiramisu). I loved them all.

Glen L.

Google
It’s my go to dessert place! It has a great varieties of food, both salty snacks and sweets. Today we had mango bingsoo, and a jelly with mango and tarp glutinous ball, it was very good. Hit the spots!! Also a great place for bubble tea drinks. Must try!

Anh T.

Google
The worst dessert I have had in Montreal yet. The mango mousse cake was just full of artificial flavor and coloring, didn't taste like mango at all. And it was way too sweet. I thought I wouldn't have bad dessert here in Montreal since the food scene here is so competitive. The gelatin layer is way too orange to represent mango. I had 2 bites of the cake and throw it away, wouldn't want to put all that toxins from artificial flavor and color in my body. To be honest, I don't think there is any mango in this cake. I wouldn't come back here again for dessert neither recommending it.

Google
just a very charming place. everything i tried till now is just so delicious. love the details and presentation of their plates and their kogo hot-dog? to die for! 😋 the best kogo i ever tried in mtl.

Bayasgalan N.

Google
Best bingsu i have ever had. My favorite bingsu and bubble tea place from now on. Can’t get enough of mango and strawberry bingsu. Must visit place for 100%. You would never regret it.

Google
Zoe Dessert is a great place to chill with friends. I have been there a few times already. And I love their variety of desserts. It's fresh and delicious. Convenient and close to downtown. The staff are nice and courteous. I highly recommend going there.

Yelp
We went here after craving bingsoo, and it could've been better. If you're looking for a quick fix and don't mind quality, this would be a good place to go to, but if you're looking for quality, I would look elsewhere. Zoé is a dessert place in combination with a Presotea, so the signage might be a little confusing in that regard. There's a good selection of appetizers and other desserts like sweet rice, other bingsoos, bubble teas, etc. but not too special otherwise.

Yelp
A cute little place with a surprisingly extensive dessert and drink menu. We got bubble waffles with matcha ice cream, mango sago with mango ice cream, and bubble tea. All very good and the egg waffle was freshly made, which did take some time, so mind the time it'll take. Would try a bunch more on the next trip!

Yelp
One of my favourite places to get bubble tea. My favourites are hazelnut milk and brown sugar boba latte. They taste so creamy, sweet, and soothing. I find that their tapioca is just ok though. I've had better. They also serve some really nice chicken wings, chicken nuggets, and popcorn chicken. I know this place is for desserts but if I'm getting bubble tea, I need to eat something salty. Every time I've been it's super busy and packed but the service is really fast. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I always like trying different items on the menu of Zoe, they offer great bubble tea, desserts and Asian snacks. I particularly love all the drinks that contain mango, because Zoe puts a lot of fresh mango inside the cup, instead of artificial mango powder, which tastes horrible. I like their Hong-Kong style waffle with ice-cream and mille-crêpe cakes (they have a variety of flavours and I think matcha is my favorite). The last time I went there they only offer take-outs. In summer, you can use their terrace and sit there to sip your bubble tea. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Eden L.

Yelp
I never had a chance to try this dessert restaurant. I had a delivery recently and I like all the items we got. I will order more from them. I highly recommend the egg waffles. I believe it's Hong Kong style. It has its crust and tender inside. I had the one more savoury and also sweet too, with seaweed. I like it. The other three items are also very tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
located in a semi-basement near Concordia University, hidden gem with a variety of sweets to choose from and also a large selection of bubble tea we got a grass jelly one with taro ball, it is filled with coconut milk and not too sweet overall. the tiny tapioca ball dessert is also very good, my daughter liked the strawberry one with a piece of strawberry flavored ice cream (ice cream is so so, but not their fault as it is probably store bought) and fresh strawberries
google avatar

Yelp
I came here to fix my craving for hong kong style egg waffles, but I would say I am a tiny disappointed. Yes, the ice cream egg waffle is definitely appealing to the eyes (and it looks great in pictures!) but the taste of the comfy warm egg waffle is lost and drained by the over-powering flavour of the ice cream. The plant pot tiramisu, on the other hand, is delicious and creative! The shovel spoon is a very cute addition! 3/5 for the waffles, 4/5 overall for the coziness.

Yelp
We love coming here during the summer to cool down with a nice dessert. The menu ranges from $5-$10 but I highly recommend you share since the desserts are pretty large. The have lots of cases of mangos along the back wall so you know it's definitely worth trying anything with mango in it. It's a great place for a date or with friends.

Yelp
A friend/co-worker and I decided to grab a bite to eat after a meeting. We were originally going to grab a bite to eat someplace else but because of work, I had a late lunch and wasn't really hungry but wouldn't mind having something sweet. We decided to drop by here. The place is very small but we were seated immediately when we showed up. As we looked at the menu, I made my decision on what I wanted as did she and when the server returned, I asked for one of the desserts but was told that they either didn't have it or ran out. I then decided to pick a mango type pie which they did have. I also asked for one of the teas on the menu and the server mentioned something which I didn't really catch except to understand that I couldn't have it for some reason or another. He pointed at the front counter and told me that I could order a tea from the front. I asked him if there was anything similar to what I wanted and he looked up at the front and then said they have something that is mango as well so I said okay. My friend ordered 2 dishes (an octopus dish and a chicken dish) and 1 dessert (a shaved ice dessert dish). I asked my friend/co-worker what the server said when I wanted to order my drink from their menu and she informed me that he said that this place merged with a tea place so they needed to update their menu and I couldn't order that option from the menu. The items came relatively quickly. I tried one piece from my friend's chicken dish and one piece from the octopus dish. The chicken was okay and the octopus dish was good. She also offered me a spoon of her shaved ice dish which I accepted. I thought it was good. In terms of what I ordered/got (drink and mango pie), I liked both. The drink that I was given seemed like a fruit drink or boba/bubble tea drinks but instead of the gelatinous/tapioca balls, there were big pieces of mango in it. Based on my experience, this place has good desserts/sweets but in terms of the regular food, I wasn't overly impressed by their deep fried chicken pieces and I thought that their octopus dish was good (not excellent or outstanding). Service was good. We finished and went to the counter to pay. They accepted credit cards. I would rate this place as 3.5 stars which I've rounded up to 4 stars.

Yelp
Everytime I pass by this place, many people are ordering. I'm not a sweet tooth guy but today I really felt like having dessert after my lunch. I went for the layered crêpe cake, very interesting texture. Now I can understand what all the fuzz is all about. Very good dessert. If you see the menu, everything is so creative. Great place I would day.
google avatar

Maggie Z.

Yelp
Had the Matcha Mille Crepe Cake- less sweet than other versions I've had but very good matcha flavor. The layers were well made. I feel that there could've been more cream to balance out the texture. Also had the longan hot drink- here you can adjust the sugar level which isn't always the case. M

Yelp
Zoe's bubble tea where medium is large, and large is XXL. :'D I took their Okinawa Brown tea with regular sugar and regular ice. It's very well done, nothing more and nothing less. If you thinking of getting authentic bubble tea then here is the place to be. On top of that, they got tasty macha cakes or other flavours are also available. It's perfectly located about 30 secondes from metro Concordia, exit St-Mathieu. Only complain is from my friend who took a large milk tea and got an XXL haha.

Yelp
I love this dessert joint! It is a small restaurant located in the downtown area. It's often full so there may be a line. Zoé offers a variety of what I would consider Asian desserts, with egg waffle and ice cream, matcha mille-crêpes, and other delicious Asian desserts (sagos, shaved ice, cakes, bubble tea, etc.). It's always fresh and the presentation is so cute! The service here is always good and the staff is nice.
google avatar

Xue L.

Yelp
I've tried several items there and some were delicious while some were disappointing. The popcorn chicken was very flavorful and crispy and it one of my fave. The coconut milk dessert with different toppings was also very good. However, i was very disappointed with their lime soda which just tasted very sweet and their potted plant tiramisu that didn't taste like a tiramisu at all. The concept of it is very cute and creative, but it felt more like eating oreo crumbs than anything else. The best thing right now is that they added presotea to their menu so it gives more yummy options for drinks. The service is quick and the staff is nice as always. Next time I go back, I'll know what to order.

Yelp
Looking for dessert in Montreal? Look no further! Zoé is it. Located maybe (if that) 2 mins from Guy Concordia metro (Édicule Guy). Now I will say it is hidden, but you can still see it if it makes sense? Put it in your maps to not get lost. Now the more I write I'm noticing a pattern that I tend to find really small places to eat BUT they are worth it. Waffles with ice cream? YES! Crepe cake (with different flavors)? YOU BET! Tea? ABSOLUTELY! I found this place coming out of my favorite dumpling place in the same area and out of curiosity, I found my way there. Place is tight and small, so please be very mindful of that, but you know what? For the treats that you get, it's so worth it. If you're ever in the mood for something sweet and different then I would encourage you to try them:)

Yelp
Solid dessert place but with poor service at times. I have been to this place a few times already for dessert, and I always take the egg bubble waffle with black sesame ice cream. And it is always good! Granted that I have not tasted it anywhere else, this is a solid dessert. However, the service sometimes can be iffy. Last time I went, after we were seated, the waiter only took our order about 30-40 minutes after we sat down. While we did not mind it, I am sure the other customers waiting in line did not appreciate it!

Yelp
This dessert place is at a really convenient. Super close to Concordia, downtown, metro stops. At first look it doesn't seem like much, but the inside is very cozy and cute. Service is not the best you'll get , but the food makes up for it. Their mango sago was a little too sweet for my liking, but it's not something that would stop me from going back. Will definitely go back for their egg waffles and drinks soon!! Recently came back again and i tried their rose milk tea this time. I am in love with it. Of course i wouldn't come without ordering my mango sago again. Everything is still a little sweet in my opinion, but it's not a big deal. My friend also ordered the egg waffle, and he loved it, although i found it a little too crispy for my own liking. Service was really good, despite it being a busy and packed Saturday night. It is definitely my go to dessert place in Montreal now.

Yelp
Exceptional dessert stop. You must visit. Both the mille crepe cake and the mango bingsoo were yummy and beyond. It is a small place and always full of people. You'll have problem finding empty tables for a group of more than two people. Staff are friendly and patient in explaining the menu. Prices are very decent. The menu also offers food (snack size maybe). I definitely visit again. Oh BINGSOO!!!
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
If you're looking for a Zen place where you can enjoy great conversation while eating some Asian dessert you must try. We shared the Black sesame ice cream ....hmmm!
google avatar

Josie L.

Yelp
This place is soooo good! The desserts are refreshing! That Ice cream waffle cup was really good. The waffle is not too heavy, even if it looks like too much to eat ! We ordered the tiramisu cake with ice cream. I loved it, but I really wanted to try the straberry cake instead. They didn't have any. The place itself was very small and since it's next to Concordia university and some other colleges, it's crowded and loud. We were there around 8pm on a friday. Let's just say that if you wanted a quiet time to enjoy some ice cream, this place is not for you. But it is still a place to try, specially for some asian desserts!
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
Recently visited Zoe dessert and the restaurant was super cute, I really liked the environment. Ordered the mango sago which tasted amazing, the sago was super chewy and the mango was so sweet! Plus they have a Presotea inside so you can grab a bubble tea on your way out. I will totally come back to taste their other desserts!

Akwiratékha M.

Yelp
It is quite loud and the service is slow. It's quite disorganized looking as well and not clean at sight.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
my wife loves matcha anything so we had to try the matcha layered cake. We saw it online and so we had to come when visiting montreal. This is a small cafe and has a few different items to try here. The highlight is definitely the matcha layered cake. It was well made with a matcha forward flavor. It had the right touch for sweetness as well. This looks difficult to make so i credit the baker! If you are into matcha desserts this is a must try.
google avatar

Nelly L.

Yelp
I love this place! Good ambiance! Good dessert! LOVE LOVE LOVE LIKE LIKE LIKE My personal opinion, I like this place more then Sugar Marmalade. ^_^
google avatar

Nafisa M.

Yelp
Whenever I crave dessert I come to Zoe. Their sweets are not overwhelming and so delicious. My particular favourite would be the mango pancake. I believe it is a thin pancake filled with whipped cream and served with ice cream. I've also tried their shaved ice which I would say is not the best I've tried, but still great. As for salty, I really enjoy having their lobster balls. The one thing I would criticize about this place is how bad their WiFi is... I tried to get some work done there but that failed. So don't go there to study friends!
google avatar

Nora C.

Yelp
My new favorite dessert place! My husband and I felt like something sweet after dinner and this place was close by. After I persuaded my husband to share something with me, we ordered the egg waffle with one scoop of mango ice cream, and a scoop of red bean. I kept eating bite after bite, talking about how amazing this was. Halfway through, my husband asks for a bite. Yeah, it was that good I completely forgot my husband existed. Moral of the story - get this for yourself and don't share!! Zoe's is small but cozy and staff is super friendly!

Ricky Boby L.

Yelp
I have been waiting for a hong kong dessert place in mtl for years. My dream finally came true. Cute little resto located dt with tons of choices from sweet to salty. I took the grapefruit sago dessert, super well done in flavors, but texture was a tad to thick for my personal liking. They are associated with preso bubble tea now which sells the best mango smoothies and other specialty drinks in mtl. I will definitely go back to try their other desserts and salty snacks.
google avatar

JS L.

Yelp
I think I read somewhere in the past that their service was slow but that's different now. There was a waitress to find you a seat or take order as soon as I walked in. - 5* I had matcha mille feuille crepe and potted tiramisu plant - they're both ok in taste, bit pricey and insta worthy - 3* I also had their Presto honeydew bubble tea, the color was questionable (faint light green) but the taste was good. I'm definitely going back for more of their bubble tea - 5* fyi, someone mentioned about bubbble tea sizes and they were right. My large was equivalent to EXTRA large so choose wisely :3
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
First authentic HK dessert place in Montreal! You can't imagine how excited I was about this place and yet it still met my expectations. I have been 3 times so far and have tried a few things: - Egg waffle with black sesame ice cream: SO GOOD. Especially the waffle part. The bubbles were chewy and the thin parts were crispy, a special texture that makes the uniqueness of bubble waffles. I personally like it with half-melted ice cream, so that the waffle soaks in a bit of the ice cream. Hmmmmm - Tiramisu mille crêpe cake: the presentation is beautiful and impressive, but the taste not as much. Especially for the price. The cream in between the crepes was a bit too heavy for my taste and not sweet enough. - Chilled mango sago cream with pomelo: mango and pomelo pieces and sago in a mango smoothie. I would have liked it a bit sweeter, but the portion was very good. The service was pretty good, but be prepared to wait. If you're taking out, a waffle can take them 15 minutes to make... Would definitely go back for the waffles and to try the durian flavoured goods!
google avatar

Fan M.

Yelp
Ordered crepe cake- good. Grass jelly with mango and coconut juice- portion was small but delicious. Strawberry bingso and also very delicious. Shaved ice was creamy and icy but not too icy. However the big downside is the ordering and pick up protocol since only 1 person in vestibule so if your order is ready, it is unclear if you have to stand in ordering line again or not. 3-4 tables for outdoor seating and no indoor.
google avatar

Saran P.

Yelp
I heard this is the first/proper Hong Kong dessert spot in Montreal and guess what?! It's located at the corner of my street! Tried their famous bubble waffle with mango ice cream and their Mango Bingsoo! Liked them both!!
google avatar

Lili N.

Yelp
From my surroundings, I have heard that this is their go-to restaurant for the bingsoo and it lives up to the hype. The bingsoo isn't bland and has got a fair amount of toppings. I then got excited to see durian smoothie on the menu, but unfortunately, it was very very bad, too sweet, the durian flavor was simply lost at this point. I also tried their cold matcha latte and seriously, this one was also a letdown. The matcha was still in chunks and it tasted like something I would have concocted at home: bland and bitter. I think that drinks are simply not this restaurant's forté, which is disappointing because they look good. I'll come back for the bingsoo's that's for sure, though.
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
Very good place for Asian desserts and bubble milk tea. Huge variety of option and most importantly, they are yummy!
google avatar

Melody M.

Yelp
Woo-hoo! I've been looking for a place to quell my craving for durian in DT Montreal and this place was just...okay. It's super cute on the inside and super casual but I thought that the price for the durian pancakes was a bit steep. $8.99 for two small-ish sized durian and creamed filled burrito like items. Don't get me wrong, the durian tasted very good but I guess when I read the term "pancake" I thought of like acutal pancakes, or at least something akin to that, not a burrito thingy. The durian slush though? Totally worth the $5.99, it was super big and just filled with yummy-ness! May come back next time to try out the egg waffle with ice cream.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Had a large bubble tea and it was great. Solid bubble tea to ice ratio. The mango green tea was one of the tastiest ice had in some time. Wanted to try a dessert but this place is swarming and didn't want to deal with the crowd. Bubble tea is a bit pricey here so it's more of a treat than an everyday thing. Will come back one day, hoping to beat the crowd.
google avatar

Jane C.

Yelp
Second time here. 1st time: had a lime soda, a durian bubble tea and a millecrepe ... Everything was pretty good, probably a 4/5. Cozy spot, nice staff. 2nd time: Had a taro bubble tea and the EGG WAFFLE WITH BLACK SESAME ICE CREAM... And it was... REAL GOOD. The ice cream was tasty and very gelato-ey and delicious and the waffle was crispy on the outside, and tender inside. We never had egg waffles before so we have no reference... but we expected a 4/10 and the ice cream +waffle was easily a 8/10 ! Will go back.
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
I have liked everything I have tried there so far: the crepe cakes( matcha, vanilla and tiramisu) the mango sago, and mango shaved ice. All excellent. Not giving five star is because service is usually a little slow and there harderly space....
google avatar

Ha L.

Yelp
It only took few months and this place became so popular! If you don't like sweet desserts, you want some Asian snacks, bubble teas, Taiwanese or Hong Kong style desserts with black jelly, red beans, taro, mango, Korean style shaved ice (bing soo), tapioca sago pudding, warm desserts, etc. This is the place to go!
google avatar

Cecile X.

Yelp
When there couple times. They served very decent and delicious HK dessert. Definitely the best HK dessert place in Montreal.
google avatar

Leena K.

Yelp
Cute place to go during summer for bingsoo. Its next to Concordia so you can take the metro or walk there after school. The bingsoo is sweeter than Opiano and give less but it has their own taste. They also have bubble waffle and they specialize in other dessert.
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
Go for the bubble tea (Presotea) and the mango bingsoo. Expect to wait a bit if you are more than 4, as the place is usually quite busy.
google avatar

HanDan W.

Yelp
We got milles feuilles, rose milk tea, Taiwanese chicken pop corn and macha tea ice cream. Service is fast and the servant is friendly. We like the place :warm and cozy. It's a nice place to spend an afternoon with friends.

My Linh V.

Yelp
My best friend an I are full time working moms... we sneak out almost every Friday night for Zoe Dessert! I personally love their appetizers! I seriously tried all their salty dishes! Really good! Dessert and drinks are amazing too! I am shocked of the consistency in food quality and customer service is 100%. A few times, we did arrive at 9:50pm when they close at 10pm but they will still serve us with great smiles! Can't beat that! Love it!
google avatar

Yutong W.

Yelp
The best mille crepe cake in north America I think. I ordered Mocha and Tiramisu ones and the latter is better. The cream is not soooo sweet so you will not find yourself fed up easily. 100% recommended.
google avatar

Catt A.

Yelp
Popcorn chicken is pretty good! Strawberry bingsoo is super fluffy and milky and the strawberries are fresh, sweet and ripen. It is a good hang out place for friends. I will most definitely return.
google avatar

Shar R.

Yelp
Got the oolong bubble tea and mango bubble tea for takeout ... delicious...went down fast :)
google avatar

An N.

Yelp
Great diseases of Asian countries! Some say the price is too expensive, but personally I think it's fair since it reflexes well the qualities of the desserts. Awesome bingsoo and bubble tea! I compared them with some other restaurants, and here those desserts' qualities are undoubtedly better :)

Bryan N.

Yelp
What a deception... I went to this place because of the many positive comments on Yelp. I ordered 5 chicken wings for 6 dollars and 9 pieces of fried tofu for 7 dollars. Even though the dishes were good, I think it's not fair to set the prices as high. However, I also ordered a crepe cake (tiramisu flavor), which is one of main dessert here. The cake was ok. It had a really small taste of tiramisu and it was a bit dry. Oh and I paid 8 dollars for one slice of cake ... Really disappointed. I'll definitely not come back.

Deen Z.

Yelp
Brown sugar banana latte don't ever buy this one. Paying for $10 but the taste is not good! It taste like vegetable not banana! Don't put banana in brown sugar its really not good. Even a monkey doesnt want this! Maybe it's better if the manager or the owner taste the one that they gonna release before they put it on sale!! Seriously I just waste my money to buy this bubble tea!
