Zofia’s Hideout - Review - Upper East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"New York City doesn’t have enough tiki bars, but Zofia’s Hideout on the Upper East Side is working to change that. There’s lots of fun, tropical drinks on the menu, like the Blue Mojo with fresh blueberries and rum, or a mai tai, or Zombies, which you’re only allowed to drink two of. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Willa Moore

Tasty cocktails in an intimate, stylish spot. Any cocktail can be made as a mocktail, if you prefer. The attention to detail in the design is great—the opposite of a dive bar, but also with reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere. A combo tiki bar and speakeasy—a tiki-easy. Zofia’s cocktails have been featured in Chilled Magazine and she’s been invited to compete in major cocktail competitions. Many of her cute mugs are on sale if you want to bring one home.

Highly recommend a (or multiple) visits to Zofia's. The cocktails are in a word stunning. Zofia's shared with us the most interesting Christmas cocktail list that we sampled and loved... the common spicy espresso Martini, the pumpkin apple pie followed by a Zombie and Pain killer....very very well mixed. Generous and complex. Thank you Zofia for creating this very cosy and welcoming environment. Loved the music, atmosphere, service and of course, the magical cocktails. Highly recommend.

Chic new uptown bar with downtown vibes and tiki flair. Cocktail menu is unique. Loved both the drinks - drinks were $16 across the menu -unheard of for intricate cocktails like these! Cute, cozy spots to hang and the owner mentioned there eventually will be live music/djs. I imagine it will be hard to get a spot here soon but looking forward to coming back!

What a welcome addition to the neighborhood! I came in for a drink and stayed the whole night. The atmosphere is very cozy, and Zofia's drinks are amazing! Everything was memorable down to the details of glassware, drink stirrers, etc. And Zofia herself is a gem. Can't wait to become a regular here!

So thrilled to have a tiki bar in the neighborhood! There’s a mix of classic tiki and modern twists. They also have beer available. Really love the vibes here and the bartenders are great. I had the painkiller and it was a 10/10. They make their own coconut cream!

This place’s distinct and idiosyncratic atmosphere might get missed by some, but shouldn’t be. It’s down the stairs, hidden like a speakeasy, with some quality cocktails awaiting, such as the yummy Painkiller (below), which has rum, and some juicy secrets. Watch out for the Zombie—it’s strong! Something old and yet new for this summer.

Stopped by this new spot after dinner. Cocktails were great but the vibe is what got me. The space is beautiful and the music was exactly what I’ve been wanting and could still hold a conversation with my friends. Will definitely be back!

We stumbled upon Zofia's Hideout while looking for a speakeasy in the area to celebrate a friend's birthday—and wow, did we hit the jackpot. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in the right place. The owner greeted us like old friends, radiating warmth and charm that instantly made us feel at home. The cocktails were absolutely delicious! They were made with love and were well crafted. The owner also gave us birthday shots and they tasted like celebration in a glass! It was such a thoughtful touch that made the night feel extra special and we were very grateful for that. If you're looking for a speakeasy that blends creativity, hospitality, and unforgettable drinks, Zofia’s Hideout is a must try. We didn't try any food, but whatever they were whipping up while we were enjoying our cocktails, smelled absolutely delicious! We’ll definitely be back—and next time, we’ll stay longer and have more drinks and bites. Thank you!

Yelp
Zofia is the best tiki bartender and cocktail recipe crafter in the city. I've followed her from Otto's to jeepney to mother of pearl and now she has her OWN PLACE where she can make whatever she wants forever! I am so happy this charming hidden gem is open, it embodies everything that makes her such a great hospitality professional. Don't sleep on it!

Yelp
Walk through the heavy door and down the stairs (it's giving speakeasy), and you are transported from the quiet Upper East Side street to Zofia's Hideout -- a vibey, meticulously curated space with some of the best drinks I've had in NYC. My friend and I were served by Zofia herself, who is lovely and has a gift for cocktail making. Amidst the chaos of a city full of bustling spots with overpriced drinks, it was so refreshing to find a bar where every detail was thought of, and the drinks themselves a labor of love.
