Amsterdam's Hotels Won't Waste Your Time

"At Zoku, a kitchen table, not a bed, is the central feature of the hotel’s loft rooms. It’s a welcome admission of a basic fact that most travelers already know — that a hotel room, particularly in an urban location, should be more than a place to sleep. Though the lofts make excellent venues for working, the hotel contains a range of light-filled, open-plan “social spaces” that encourage communal work and play." - Mark Fedeli

Superbly designed modern loft apartments with everything you need. Very comfortable bed. Excellent lighting. Comfortable, bright, clean, light and private. Dishwasher is great bonus. Perfect place for self catering. The little kitchen is well equipped. Great location. Quiet, nice area but within easy reach of city centre and central rail station.

Perfect stay in every way. The room lives up to all the photos online. Clean crisp, comfortable, cool, efficient. Staff are amazing and accomodating, going the extra mile to accomodate requests. Having the option to work from a large table in your room, or surrounded by activity in the top floor lounge, allows you to customize your work day to Breakfast, lunch, and dinner...the restaurant is amazing!

I had a fantastic stay! This was the first hotel I've stayed in that made me feel calm - from the structure of the loft, the helpfulness of the staff, and the location of the hotel. The Hop On / Hop Off bus stops very close by! I'm looking forward to visiting other Zoku locations!

The lobby is fantastic. Comfy lounge format with a bar, food selection, business office & supplies, alcove, phone booths, couches, outdoor seating & tables, even fireplaces for Winter cold days, etc. Feels like a better Moxy format. Great place for evening drinks & snacks.

Very cool roof top bar/restaurant. Excellent service and very friendly waiters (not very common here). Really good value for money too. Will definitely come back. Maybe needs a separate bar tag on google maps.

Was here 14/07/25.. This is a fantastic place to stay.. A real cool concept and a really cool looking place internally.. They have great style and the rooms reflect that.. Stayed in a loft XL and the bed took me back to building a fort as a kid.., it was so so cool.. And super comfy bed.. The staff are super friendly and helpful.. The place is clean and tidy and modern and has great chill spots on the 6th floor as you walk through to the bar/food/chill/living area.. Location is beautiful and offers some good views locally and there are metro and tram stops very close by that get you anywhere you need.. As well as the views there are some nice spots to eat close by.. Again...., wonderful stay here at Zoku... Thank you again guys.. ❤️

The XL loft we stayed in was beautiful, clean with a smart design! The bed was wonderful! The food was also fantastic with nice and special dishes. The location was excellent, the staff was very kind and willing to help us with everything! A special thanks to Mrs. Kimberly Van Der Laan for her kindness. We will definitely come back and I highly recommend it! Well done Zoku team, you deserve 5/5!

Google
We only visited their co-working space which was incredible. With a full day pass you get access to the work spaces with an amazing lunch and afternoon coffee/ tea offering. The work spaces with is spacious and designed with an inspiring edge, not the mention the great views of Amsterdam around it :)

Yelp
ZOKU has been my home away from home for seven years now. I LOVE the vibe of this B Corp hotel, which grows herbs among the chairs and tables on its wonderful rooftop. The reception, lounge and restaurant on the same floor are welcoming and pleasant. The staff is kind, helpful, and inventive. And the rooms are great for working and hanging out with friends.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location with many restaurants near by and a grocery store 2 blocks away. The check in process was a bit clunky and our room wasn't ready until almost 5p which was really hard to manage after a long day of traveling and having two little babies in tow. There is a great work space at the rooftop/check in common area but you can only consume drinks and food directly from the hotel. You are not allowed to bring outside food. Let's get to the positive features: There is laundry on side and it includes laundry detergent. The total cost is 9 Euros which is a bit pricey but you're paying for convenience Each floor has a pantry with extra supplies such extra towels, pillows, cleaning supplies and dish ware The rooms are very quiet and you can't hear your neighbors which is nice so the hotel was almost fully booked when we were there Each floor is secured by additional key card access only so it felt safe I do wish there was more detail cleaning such as the stove, the stove vent and the shower. The stove vent was pretty disturbing and gross - especially when they encourage you to use it every time you cook. Overall, if you need a place for more functional space with long term amenities then this is definitely the place for you.

Yelp
I loved staying here!!!!! Such a cool place!!! Many different common areas to be at. They have a cafe and outdoor sitting spaces, and work spaces, and a restaurant. Really modern and cool vibe. Electronic kiosks to check in and out. Staff available for assistance 24/7. They also have a locker room, in case you arrive early and a need a place to store your luggage. They have a changing and shower room available too, in case you arrive early and want to freshen up before your room is ready. They put so much thought into every detail. This is a place to live and work. Short term and long term stays. Community activities and ways to meet people and build community. I would love to stay here for a long visit. My friend and I only had a few days so we grabbed their budget friendly option, called the Bootstrap room, which had a bunk bed. Although the room was small, the space was designed well and had lots of storage. The bathroom was still quite spacious. The bunk beds were very comfortable and even had privacy curtains, which really kept it dark. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious in the restaurant. I highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
Perfect for brunch or drinks during a nice sunny day. Top of the hotel. Resemble a green house. My fried chicken with poached eggs was great. Choice of drinks Shared tables or eat around the kitchen cooking table. Nice experience. Not cheap

Yelp
One of these communal workspace type places. Different from a hotel, skews younger and hipper than normal. Loft beds which were interesting and cleverly designed. Place has less service than a hotel but the food is great. Location good for city center. Elevators slow. Nice spots to work eat drink or chill out on floor 6 which, strangely, is where you check in. Breakfast excellent with nice options. Eggs avocado hummus and amazing bread. Need this bread in US. We don't have it. So if you want something a bit different with a noticie feel go for it. This is not a big box Marriott.

Yelp
What a cool place. Roof top and modern. The food is great. The drinks are great and the people are great. They offer this great option for workers to come work in conference rooms. Or have meetings or gatherings. I was there simply for happy hour and they offered a wonderful family style dinner option along side of their regular menu.

Yelp
stayed at Zoku Amsterdam Apartments. Since it's peak season when we were here, it's about $350 a night for their large loft. They are well equipped apartment with lofts and common areas to interact with others if you wish. It's trendy, hipster-friendly hotel with a gorgeous rooftop garden, bar and kitchen with ample hangout space. The first night we had dinner at one of the private room. The views were cool. The food and drinks were really tasty. All of the room and area at the rooftop bar and kitchen is really quaint. There was a ping pong tables, comfortable swinging chairs etc. Their brunch was amazing and they had live music at night. The staff were really friendly. It has a washer/dryer in the basement and bike rentals. The location is very central. I simply love this place!

Yelp
To add to my previous review, I need to say the community manager there, Laura Ghitoi is amazing. She went out of her way to cultivate community amongst people staying at Zoku. She arranged these really fantastic, weekly, community dinners. You could opt into a whatsapp group. She sent me so much great information about Amsterdam upon arrival. really was made to feel welcome and she is a real gem.

Yelp
This a a super cool hotel/work space m. Within premises there is a bar, tables and meeting rooms for working and a great staff to top it all off. If you are in Amsterdam and you want to say in an accessible place that is not touristy, this might be the place.

Yelp
I don't often give 5 stars for things on here but I just could not ask for anything better from them. This place was suggested by a friend who lived in Amsterdam for a couple years and I wasn't totally clear on what this place was - a hotel? conference center? working area? Anyhow, we were just staying in Amsterdam for leisure and no work and it was still so amazing. You enter in the lobby and go to the top floor where you are welcomed by an amazing glass hallway with lots of plants and a view! The "lobby" is nice, comfortable and very modern. You really don't have to see anyone if you don't want to the way the rooms and lobby are set up. Now lets get to the rooms. I LOVED this idea of staying somewhere that the bed was not the focal part of the room. Hotel rooms are so boring in that way and these were set up more like apartments. We had a regular loft and it was the perfect size for sitting with the couch, table and chairs. They give you a few pods of Nespresso to have in the morning which worked out great if you can't imagine waking up with out caffeine immediately (me). We didn't have time to cook but it is set up for success in that area. We did do a load of laundry which was easy and the bed loft was super comfortable and nice that it was hidden away. It is off the main path in a way but we did not mind that at all as we just walked the entire time we were there and it was very safe. I would HIGHLY suggest staying here if you are looking for something low key (not high maintenance). As I would stay here every time I go. This is more for management but we almost slipped 2-3 times on the stairs up to the bed so maybe a note that says watch out in a funny way would be cool just so you don't have problems :)

Yelp
A gorgeous modern coworking, social space and lodging in Amsterdam. We found this place through a friend who works there and she booked for us to stay here for a night during our visit to Amsterdam. It's a fairly large place with 130 odd rooms and apartments. There is a beautiful rooftop social space, restaurant, bar, coworking and event space with sweeping views of the city. You also check in here and come and pick up keys you can program on your own. The room is not huge but the use of space is fabulous. There is a small loft with a nice sized bed and pillows. There is a small living and dining area and a small kitchen and workspace. It has all the amenities of an apartment in a well laid out package. Enjoyed the stay here and would consider coming back. It was very pricey but I am told it's normal. Will try to book it one more time and compare.

Yelp
Fabulous hotel. If I were to design a rooftop bar and restaurant that is what it would look like! From the kitchen to the boxing bag I didn't know I needed. Outdoor rooftop garden,Fun arts and crafts area and delicious cocktails. I stuck with an old-fashioned that the bartender took his Time to perfect for me. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. I write "experience" instead of "stay" because Zoku is more than a stay. The lofts were great; not luxurious, but even better for busy travelers, practical. Bed and bathroom perfect, but with a small kitchen. You can wash your clothes in the laundry downstairs, and the machines are pre-loaded with soap. They have ironing boards and irons in the laundry room! And your room comes equipped with a laundry basket. You even have scissors and other necessary items. But the common area is what makes Zoku so great! The staff is young, smart, multilingual, and helpful. The common areas are beautiful, warm, comfortable, friendly. The food is fresh, healthy, well-prepared in front of you, and reasonably priced. Please put a Zoku in every city!

Yelp
Great option if you want the comfort and extra space of an Air bnb and the ease/service of a hotel. We had a studio with a loft that is hidden away from the living space. There is a couch/sitting area, a kitchenette and a dining table. Everything was really nice, location was good, very comfortable stay. The reason for the three stars rather than four or five is because we paid extra for an early check in at noon. Our room wasn't ready until almost 2pm and while we were told the early check in fee would be taken off of our bill, it was still on the bill when we checked out.

Yelp
I consider Zoku my home base in Amsterdam. It's got everything - amazing (fresh!) food, drinks, beautiful communal spaces to work solo, inspiring meeting rooms, beautiful rooftop terraces for sunny days, and apartments that feel so much more homey than a regular hotel space. This is THE spot for anyone traveling for work, or just traveling with the intention to meet inspiring, creative people. The staff is super friendly (not always the case here in the Netherlands!) and the location is unbeatable. It's within walking distance to everything you need and want to see, but also offers affordable bike rental options for anyone who wants to see the city like a local. Couldn't ask for a better place to call home.

Yelp
Super cool. A bit too cool for me but I adore it. Each room is super well designed and great idea to loft the bed and give me a small kitchen (ideal for the longer stay). The wifi *can* be super fast and super slow (which is totally annoying to get randomly either 2Mbs and 120Mbs up and down). They have this app that lets you into your room as a key (cool) but won't call the lift to your floor (not cool). The top floor social space is incredible (friendly, chill, and amazing views). It doesn't make much sense to pay extra for the Skinny Bridge view because it's kinda weak (just a peek down a road down the way). All this aside, if they fix the wifi speeds, this would be a great gem (for the business traveler) but for the occasional visitor it's less of a thing (get offline!). And I really like this neighborhood, not touristy but a short walk to the thick of it.

Yelp
What an awesome hotel! As soon as the elevator doors open to the welcome space, you know you're in for a special treat. The doors part to a beautiful rooftop garden, and after you walk through the hallway, you enter a spacious and gorgeous cafe, bar, and work area. The staff is friendly and helpful, and everything has a positive vibe. The lofts are also airy and beautiful -- a beauty not quite captured by the pictures. Each of the handles leads to a cabinet where you find different magical things (or at least it seemed magical, it's really kitchen utensils and closets hehe). My favorite was the bar that you pull that turns into the staircase to the lofted bed that you sleep in. I could spend so much time just staying here, but of course, Amsterdam has its own charm to offer as well. :) It's a bit far from the rest of the city center where you'll find most of the tourist attractions (usually have to walk ~20 min), but I highly recommend Zoku for a stay in Amsterdam!

Yelp
I was so happy to select this place; a much different hotel experience; the room is like a well equipped small (NYC size) studio; place filled with people 25-35 and a smattering of us old types. Most work for companies in the east side technology area of Amsterdam. The service was excellent and the bar was very lively (two roof top gardens plus lovely indoor seating when rainy). The food was excellent for a hotel and very reasonable price; pre-buy the breakfast to save some money. Location near Metro and trams; canals and quick walk to Portuguese Synagogue and Hermitage Museum complex.

Yelp
Absolutely love Zoku. I love the fusion of work and community; being from San Francisco and involved in the bay are coworking, scene, this kind of thing is great to see. I would love to see more Zoku's appearing all over the world, I would stay there again. Also, the people there ("sidekicks" as they're called) are *extremely* helpful and warm. love Zoku!

Yelp
If you are at all sensitive to noise - stay away. Stay far, far, away. Otherwise, by all means, you should stay here on your next trip to Amsterdam! But seriously, you can hear everything. The building is primarily constructed out of wood, so you can hear people walking around you, above you, beneath you. I had a incredibly hard time falling asleep, because every step from the person living above us sounded like they were stomping around and it would shake the fixtures in our room. And then the next morning you will wake up to the sound of more footsteps. It's wonderful. You hear it on all the floors, btw, so have fun with that. There are obviously other benefits to staying at the Zoku, but I won't go over them here, because they are covered in great detail by all the other reviews. In fact, all the positive reviews were the reason I decided to try this place out. I'm glad I did, since I wasted over a thousand Euro to stay here for four nights. It's actually priced higher than the Hyatt Regency right down the road, but I thought, hey, this might be a cool new experience. Wow, was I wrong. Won't be making that mistake again. If I was 20 or 25 I could see myself staying here and enjoying it. However, there are certain luxuries and amenities that you expect after staying at 4 star and 5 star hotels, especially since Zoku is priced in that general range. That's where the hotel definitely falls short, so just remember that ahead of time. If you're still young or young at heart, go for it, you will have a great time. But if you don't want to become best friends with the rest of the guests at the Zoku, stay at the Hyatt Regency or one of the hundreds of other amazing hotels in Amsterdam.

Yelp
Zoku Amsterdam is one of Amsterdam's gems just outside the the core of the city. A beautifull location with an excellent view of the city. The ambiance is amazing. It's an excellent workplace as well very inspiring. The food & staff is excellent. We had the pumpkin soup & the flatbread simply delicious. It a place you shouldn't skip when visiting Amsterdam.

Yelp
Amazing view and with lots of plants and open space! It is almost like a calm retreat on a sunny day!

Yelp
What a great amazing hotel! Love everything about it from the cool views of the city to the fun rooms with the loft beds! Love how modern and fun! The people who work here are amazing and so helpful! I will definitely come back!

Yelp
They were still working out quite a few kinks--both in the technology and in the service--but I like the concept.

Yelp
ZOKU hotel, compact living for longer stays. We spent two nights at this cozy modern design hotel after have seen their innovative designs online beforehand. A simple but classy design that gave us a feeling of rather staying at somebody else's flat than at a hotel. The access to both a small functional kitchen with the tinest dishwasher, a fresh bathroom and a cozy couch made the room feel like more of a small apartment comfortable enough to stay at for a longer period of time. The lobby at the top of the ZOKU had the shape of a hexagon with big windows on every side, offering a great view for the guests. The reception was placed in the centre of the room which made the room feel bigger. A simple but stylish design with playful new thinking ideas that was explored during our whole stay. If you're planning a trip to Amsterdam, I would really recommend you to pay a vsit at the ZOKU hotel.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely! Absolutely lovely! The service, the room, the rooftop cafe, the whole works! Not only was the room delightfully compact while still having plenty of space. The new hotel concept of this place is worth the experience. Stay here when you come to Amsterdam!

Yelp
Great place for extended stay - well located We stayed 2 weeks at Zoku for vacation. It is not a traditional hotel. Review their website carefully before booking, If you expect the traditional hotel services (e.g. baggage handling, concierge service, etc. ) this place is not for you. However, if you want a well designed / well-appointed mini apartment, great design, fabulous common areas to interact with other guests, this place is ideal. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Digital nomad heaven! I stayed here 3x over the last 2 months and immediately felt right at home. I liked it so much I ditched my Airbnb for the last 3 nights and moved here instead. The terrace lobby / coworking area is beautiful and inspiring. Their lunch and dinner options are super healthy and delicious. Very fast wifi, good laundry room, and comfy beds. The location is in a quieter part of town with less touristy things to do, but there's plenty of nearby transportation options. Can't wait until Zoku is in other cities. I hope they keep the prices reasonable, along with their friendly Bootstrap-rated rooms. I'll always consider it my home away from home!

Yelp
Beautiful, efficient, hipster-friendly hotel with a gorgeous rooftop garden, friendliest staff I've ever encountered! i loved that it has a washer/dryer in the basement, bike rentals (ride or die here), and a restaurant on site. Tea and drinks served late, I went up for tea at 3am and was treated just as well as if I had arrived at a more reasonable hour. The lounge is so cozy and gorgeous, and the location is very central while being slightly off the main drag. This is the only hotel I've been to in Amsterdam but I have fallen in love.
google avatar

Joslyn H.

Yelp
Absolutely obsessed with this hotel after a long weekend stay in Amsterdam. The lofted bed is accessible via a pull-out staircase in the book cabinets, and once I climbed up I never wanted to leave. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and responsive, which is not the case everywhere in Amsterdam, so I got a bit spoiled by Zoku for other places. The Living Kitchen on the 6th floor is an amazing spot to work during the day or chill out in the evening, just buzzy enough without being unbearably sceney. The small but well-appointed kitchen in the room is a huge bonus - I wish I could have stayed longer to take advantage of it!
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
I expected Zoku to be extraordinary; I'd been stalking it on social media since before the opening date. My expectations were not only met, but completely blown out of the water. I was a tad fearful that it would be a too-hip, millennial-centric hangout that was far overdone. What I got was a lovely, understated weekend that contained none of the hotel sterility/awkwardness and felt instantly inspiring and comfortable. I will shout for miles and years about Zoku, from roof- and mountaintops!
google avatar

Chelsea S.

Yelp
So luxurious and clean! Zoku is basically everything you would want in a working/ hotel space! They anticipated my every need before I even knew it was a need! Best customer service in the business! I can't wait for them to expand to Vancouver!
google avatar

Yelp
Should never have been advertised as a hotel, these are live in apartments and as we were only in Amsterdam for two nights it was a waste of money. An extortionate price for what we got, a pokey apartment (although very clean and modern) that was boring and dull. We were greeted by a bunch of quirky teenagers that called themselves 'sidekicks' and told that breakfast was not included in the price that we paid, even though we were sure that we had paid for it. Was a nice place but wouldn't recommend for a short stay.

K C.

Yelp
Nice place to stay for a few days on business trip or travel. If you like Ikea, this is even better than the Ikea showrooms, the reception floor is very cool. One thing to note : strictly no extra beds allowed, so plan in advance and book extra room online (not walk-in) if you have more than 2 persons checking in. Hotel check-in and payment procedures can be improved to avoid miscommunication. Hotel management is willing to address problem.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful, well designed, and fun place to stay. Cannot beat the price and design. Plus the upstairs lobby/living room/kitchen area has a great view and is fun to work out of. I also appreciate that there was a hot water heater in my room!

Matthew R.

Yelp
My stay at Zoku was exceptional. I was in Amsterdam on business and decided to stay here over some of the more standard hotels I've typically used in the past. The experience was completely new and refreshing, and unlike anything I've seen when travelling for business or pleasure. The staff were extremely friendly, the design was interesting and thoughtful, and the approach to dining and common spaces made this feel more intimate and comfortable than I am used to. If you are staying in Amsterdam for a night, a month, or longer, I would highly recommend Zoku.

James W.

Yelp
The best place to stay in Amsterdam is what we read and heard and we were not disappointed. The moment we got there and went to check in on the 6th floor someone met us with help in how to check in and get our own keys made using the computer. Then he got us some beers to welcome us. The rooms are in the small side but very comfortable and you want for nothing. Everything is well designed and well thought out. Even our last day we had a tour planned and we're not flying out until the evening but we stored our bags in the storage lockers in the basement. We felt bad because the lockers were small and we had to use 4 of them but we went on our 5 hour tour of windmills and such. Then we went back to the hotel and hung out for a few hours playing games like backgammon and Jenga and Mario Cart while having drinks until our flight time even though we had checked out of our rooms in the morning. They really thought of everything. You will not be disappointed.

Bill W.

Yelp
We just finished our second stay at Zoku. We picked it initially because it was located just a few blocks from our daughter's flat. But we loved the place. Even though Zoku is designed for as an extended stay hotel for young millennials in Amsterdam on business, we retired octogenarians felt fully welcome. In this case, we arrived in Amsterdam at six in the morning, but the staff had already made sure that we would have a room ready for us on our arrival. The room arrangement is a marvel with everything that one needs. There is a table and four chairs as a work space or for small meetings. If one wants to eat in there is a refrigerator, stove top, and a microwave. A small grocery store is only a block away. On the other hand, there is also a small restaurant in the lobby on the sixth floor. There is also a carefully developed casual and friendly ambience significantly enhanced by the young staff members (who are called "sidekicks").
