Excellent day out to Zoo Negara. Really enjoyed walking round and looking at the animals. Went super early for when it opened so it was a lot cooler and less busy. Panda exhibit was closed when we went, but will be an excellent addition now it is open. Animals look in an okay condition and were very active whilst we were there. Looking forward to returning to see the Pandas!

Came here on my birthday and got a free entry. Very enjoyable to see the animals. Certain parts of the zoo was under renovation but it didn't deter the experience. Good job to the zoo keepers and handlers for taking care of the animals. Would recommend to wear walking shoes or comfortable shoes as you're expected to walk a lot.

Visited Zoo Negara with my family. The zoo is spacious and generally well laid out, making it a pleasant place to walk around. We noticed that lions, tigers, and some other animals looked a bit tired or inactive, which may have been due to the hot December weather. Unfortunately, the pandas were not available during our visit as they are new and were taken out for training at the time. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience, and the kids had a good time exploring and seeing the animals. With cooler weather and more animal activity, the experience would likely be even better.

Zoo negara is huge and wonderful, will a collection of both national and international wildlife. Their reptile and insect section are highlight. The open bird cage was memorable. The restrooms are everywhere. Advisable to book tickets online, and visit the zoo early at 9.30am, so that you can finish seeing entities before the afternoon heat hits.

Humangous area for the animals. Staffs are helpful & competent. The trams also assist the elderly & oku to explore the areas & activities. Lots of animal shows. Got ziraffe, panda, aquarium, monkeys, orang Utans, tigers, rhinocerous, flamingo, birds etc. My niece luv it, school holiday 😃.

It's easy to go around the whole compound as they provide a reliable map of the vicinity. Sadly, the pandas weren't ready for viewing/interaction yet but still loved hearing the tiger roar from the moment we entered. The variety of animals is nice although the area where the hyenas and porcupines were at can use a bit of improvement.

Went here on Friday. It took me around 2-3 hours to finished walking and watching all animals here. I literally watch every single animals that were available that day. Sadly there was no animals show on friday. The staffs were attentive enough to help me claim the birthday treat free ticket. The crowd on that day was okay. Not too packed. So i get to take my time to look at each animals a lil longer. Advisable to follow the map route so you won't miss any animals. I started from the left side of entrace A and finished on the right side of the same entrace. Shuttle service was provided but i think it only reach at certain places. I used the toilet behind a souvenir store near entrace A and it was clean. Overall, really satisfied with my experience here.

The zoo was spacious and routes were well planned. Panda enclosure was closed to our disappointment. We bought tickets online but still had to go to the counter to exchange for wrist tags. Nonetheless, we had an enjoyable experience

Yelp
Last visit- almost 20 years ago? Since those pandas are here- include the baby- nuan nuan, we decided to pay a visit to national zoo of Malaysia. Overall experience was great. It's a very traditional zoo which animals are kept on cage. Actually, I prefer human are on the cage ( bus) to watch those animals. Let's talk about the price. Previous price is RM54. This march/April 2016, they reduced the price to RM44 as there are some renovation undergoing. If you got aeon member card, you can get extra 10% discount which is become RM40-inclusive panda centre. Sounds attractive and affordable right. Rmb must visit those pandas, they are super adorable. I kept capture their moments *although they were sleeping. There are other animal like penguin, bear, Tiger, giraffe, elephant, camel, orang utan and others. Will I revisit? If they really change the zoo to a more modern style zoo.

Yelp
Nothing could cure my stress and tension much much better than the animals. Yeah, you heard it right. I said animals. Animals is the best friends that you could ever have. That's why I always get myself to zoo but this time not just zoo but a National Zoo. Probably the largest zoo in the nation. I'm more to a fan of mammals so I spent not so many times on the reptiles and amphibians department. Such a best place for family-bonding session. If I'm not mistaken, they got at least 5446 different kind of species here. Oh, don't forget about the Panda couples, the gift from the China for Malaysia. They are so cute and adorable. I wish I could have Panda as pet. Not just pet but also a friend.

Yelp
Very poorly maintained, many animals look sick or malnourished- especially the tigers

Yelp
We went to Zoo Negara as we had heard rave reviews from other parent friends. One even said it was better than Singapore Zoo (in terms of walkability at least). Since the pandas were in town, we decided, let's do it. We thought we would be one of the first there, since we arrived at 8.45 am, 15 minutes before official opening hours, but we weren't. The parking lot was already filled with lots of other like minded people, even more kiasu than us, so we had to park a little further away than we would have liked. However, once we got to the entrance, it only took about 5 minutes to get our tickets and we were off. Note: Tickets are RM 35 for those with MyKad and free for children below 3. However, as we had wanted to see the pandas too, we had to pay RM 54 each, a little steep but ah well. All in the name of education. I am very happy to report that all the animals seemed happy and well fed. At the monkeys section, the cages were huge, and space aplenty for them to roam around and hang from the branches of the trees. Even the birds enjoyed huge spaces. We managed to catch the Multi-Animal Show, which was actually pretty fun. The facilitator spoke in both Bahasa and English, and managed to capture the crowd's attention. It went on a little too long for our toddler's attention span, but for adults, not a problem at all. The safari animal section was great. It actually resembled something like the vast ladnscapes of Africa. My daughter was extremly excited about the giraffes being in close proximity. The pandas were great too. We got a little irritated with some people who didn't seem to understand that they should not use flash cameras (need scarier staff there, maybe), but other than that, we enjoyed seeing them live and well, albeit for only 15 minutes (that's the amount of time you're allowed inside the panda area). All in all, a great outing for the family. We spent something close to 5 hours there and didn't even realise it. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
I have been to Zoo Negara many times as a kid, and always had the best time, looking at the animals and learning about them. Sadly when I visited when I was older it really struck me how badly the animals were maintained. Most animals were sick or malnourished especially the tigers. When you can see a tigers bones you know they are not fed well enough. This broke my heart and i vowed never to go back. There was even a sick giraffe that had his tongue hanging out of his mouth and he couldn't even take food offered by the visitors. I believe that animals should be free and all zoo's should be abolished. Why keep them in tiny enclosures when they could be roaming in the wild with no boundaries holding them back.

Yelp
There are many things in Malaysia that I'm proud of; our National Zoo definitely is one of them. I'm a huge animal lover, and I'd make sure I visit the zoo or animal farm wherever I travelled to. So far, I still think that our National Zoo is one of the best I've been to. The National Zoo is managed by a NGO established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Ever since its first opening in 1963, the zoo has matured into a well-known zoo with over 5137 specimens from 476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Till today, the amount is growing with the every new birth in the zoo. Compare to some of the zoos, our National Zoo has transformed itself to an open concept with over 90% of the animals being kept in spacious exhibits along with landscape that suits the animals. Over the years, they have been creating awareness on wildlife conservation and working very hard to conserve Malaysian wildlife. They have managed to breed some of our less well-known yet highly endangered species, and also have a hand in releasing these animals into the wild. Apart from the varieties of species, they have daily animal shows too, either the sea lions or macaws. Due the huge area in the zoo, they provide tram rides for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the view of the animals. However, I would advise to walk instead of taking the tram because you'll be able to cover more areas and have better view on foot. Recently, they have added giant panda to their variety of species. The usual admission ticket is RM30 with MyKad, but you'd need to pay RM50 if you like to visit the Panda Sanctuary. Each person will allow entering the Panda Sanctuary at a limited amount of time, and you'll get to see these cute gentle giants at their habitat. If you love to be around these animals or would like to help out, you can always volunteer at the zoo as they are always looking for volunteers. Also, some of the animals are ready for adoption, and you can always check out their website for more information.

Yelp
As one of the tropical rainforest country, i think we can improve more on our National Zoo environment, facilities and care for animals. My parents used to brought me here since i was little and i was exciting that time visiting the animals and enjoying the animals' performance. Believe it or not, things are still the same even after decades when i was here again in recent years. The only different are low maintenance, every structure turns old, animals getting lesser and even visitors are lesser now. The animals performance are still the old performance that i used to remember. I'm really feeling disappointed to the management team, i think they are lacking of passion to improve our zoo. Seriously, with a resources that we have, i think we can do it so much better than now and to attract more tourist, we need FUN in the zoo not just animals.

Yelp
I could always remember when I was 16, I was here with my siblings and friends-paying my very first visit. Yeah How sad? Get to experience national zoo at such an old age (haha, in my opinion, my friends were judging me so hard ) My siblings brought me here after years of complaining and all, they finally brought me here. To be honest, I wasn't disappointed at all. I was in a bundle of joy. It was in one of my bucket list since I was little and I get to experience it. Zoo Negara Malaysia is located at Hulu Kelang , Ampang, you could definitely spot from far as there's a HUMONGOUS signboard to assist you or you could just waze it! Zoo Negara offers a wide array of animals species. From Mammals to reptiles, insects to birds. There has it all. How cool is that? I could still remember every single detail. Not to mention, they are extremely spacious and filled with countless species that you might know off - some that could only found in Zoo Negara. Apart from that, they have endless entertainment for the audience as well. They put up amazing animal shows, usually at the one afternoon session and one evening session. You could see various cute and well-trained species at such elephants, seal, dolphins and countless more. Recently, I think they even included panda as well but then admission fee are a must (RM 50) I think our national Zoo has slowly becoming one of the best zoo as they have been acquiring numerous interesting species that would blow your mind away. If you are in love and would die for their feeding session, you could feed elephant, monkey and giraffe live, personally. Definitely check out our national Zoo and more information click this link www.zoonegaramalaysia.my

Yelp
As a kid who have not been to any zoo before, this place will definitely give you much excitement. But if you've been to a better zoo, for example the Singapore zoo. Then this zoo will lack the appeal and excitement. I was totally not thrilled with any of the available performances they had. It was mediocre and not professional to me. They could wow the kids but definitely not the adults. The variety of the animals here is nothing to be proud of but recently they did upgraded their facility to accommodate pandas. The pandas are on rent for a limited time so do go check them out as soon as possible. Kids might not see this but parents will definitely feel the lack of good facility provided to the animals. It has brought me much dismay seeing how poorly the zoo is maintained. The food available here are also a lot more pricier so do prepare your own refreshments as much as you can to save on their cutthroat price.

Yelp
I love animals. It saddens me to see the state of the animals here. I think Zoo Negara needs to improve on their maintenance of the animals. I was here a few months back, i must admit that it was a lot better than a few years ago but theres still a lot of room for improvement. In terms of cleanliness, it is pretty good. They were dustbins all around the zoo for rubbish to be put in. Cleanliness and the maintenance is very important for places as such for it to meet world standards. I have faith that Zoo Negara one day will be able to meet world standards. As it is slowly but surely improving over the years.

Yelp
It's been a while since I last went to the zoo, but I remembered having fun despite how poorly maintained our national zoo was. Some of the cages were empty, and the zoo definitely lacked in variety. However, I think foreigners and children would enjoy the zoo more than I did because it did showcase some of the animals that Malaysia is so proud of such as the tapir and the orang utan. There are some feeding sessions that visitors can take part in. I fed the elephants with some sugar canes. It doesn't sound like much, but there is a certain joy in seeing the elephants taking the sugar cane away from your hand with its trunk. One thing that I believe our national zoo should be proud of is the lake with a group of pinkish flamingos minding their own business. It can be breathtaking if the sun hits the green lake at the right moment.

Yelp
I think it is one of the place to release your stress and to experience the wildlife with your family and friends during the weekends...

Yelp
Its really said the zoo is not maintained..animals are closed in such condition that its a pity to see. They are not well fed. Wildlife protection should land there. Its more of an animal business..where non resident pay extremely expensive rate and the service so cheap quality. The money should be used for the maintenance and good care of these animals. Every little thing is paid there, yet services are really unbelievable for the price we paid. There were lighting and thunders and the zoo did not provide any urgency help. When help for tram was asked as kids were wet and frightened due to lighting heavy rainfall and thunders we were asked to buy tickets for tram. We saw crocodile in the middle lake where kids were roaming near to see birds. Not safe at all. Huts throughout the zoo where people can sit rest or protect from rains are devoid of straw. Had to run in the rain cause no where to hide. No guide inside the zoo..all people working in front looking for customers for photo shoot. Its a pity to see certain animals there and the condition of the zoo. So many places in aquarium is deplorable..even spider web are seen on the turtle shell corners. Really not worthwhile. The panda show and animal show are the only worthwhile attractions there. Things should be done for those poor animals.
