We took the 7 course menu. The booking was last minute but I did expect a bit more from a Michelin one star restaurant.
The “snack” didn’t have any flavors nor were the ingredients anything too special. Scallops were good but not anything special and the swede croquettes were neither warm nor cold so it felt like it was prepared in advance. Stew that was served at lunch (and for dinner it was pork ravioli soup which sounded much tastier) was just pea soup at most..more like refried beans…and lacked any specialty.
Sea bass was the only menu I liked and was cooked moist and juicy with crispy skin.
For the land main course the course entailed duck, and having not liked duck in the past I asked for an alternative which was venison..also a very distinct choice of meat…so I took the duck and did not like it at all. Asked for a little extra cooking, which was done thankfully very well, but I still couldn’t finish the one piece I was working on. It was ironically good that the portions were so small that my companions took a piece each from me, but still left quite not yet full. This tells a lot about the portions at Zortiko. We had a late breakfast and was in a hurry so we took the 7-course each, but regretted instantly when we saw the portions of the first dish the “snack”. If any of the staff came to ask how the meal was, I would’ve told them that I could not take the duck.
At 75 eur + sevice + drinks for a lunch, I would’ve expected so much better, at least a filling meal. The ingredients used were pretty underwhelming as well (or maybe they weren’t explained enough). The staff were at least nice and helpful, but it felt a bit awkward when our servers kept running to the only server that could speak english when we had a question or comment.
