"Simi Valley might seem like a far trek for Persian sweets, but Deravian claims Fariba Nafissi’s bakery is worth the trip and has “hands-down the best pastries.” And this is coming from someone who typically doesn’t indulge. “I’m traditionally not a huge fan of Persians sweets, because I would always find them [to be] really sweet,” she says. “I don’t have a huge sweet tooth. But Fariba has really nailed that perfect amount of sweetness in Persian pastries that’s not off-putting.” Deravian likes Fariba’s chickpea flour cookies called nan-e-nokhodchi and kolompeh, which is a specialty from Fariba’s hometown of Kerman. “It’s a date-stuffed pastry, and they get that beautiful stamp on it. It looks like a piece of art,” she says. ZoZo even ships its baked goods—including kolompeh—jams, and pickles nationwide and internationally. Both the studio and online store are on temporary hiatus, but are meant to reopen in October 2021. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Quite a late review, but absolutely loved each item in their assorted collection. The chickpea cookie - Nokhodchi was melt in the mouth, my favorite. The cookies and sweets are tiny and intricately crafted. The box was packed and shipped with absolute care.

The packaging and presentations of my orders, the shapes and colors were absolutely beautiful . However we didn’t find any of the pastries that we had ordered delicious . The Baklava( diamond sweets) was very dry , no aroma. Usually Persian pastries are aromatic and you can smell the cardamom, rose water, and … as soon as you open the bo, but not with this one. Everything tasted so bland. I was very excited for this order but unfortunately we were disappointed . This feedback is meant for improvement. Thank you 🌸♥️

This place is AMAZING!!! I randomly saw this place and decided to get my mom some Persian almond macaroons and she absolutely LOVED IT!! We now go back every month or so to refill on some of our favorite snacks and have gotten to know the owner who is always super friendly. I didn’t really grow up with these types of sweets and I’m sad I missed out on this in my childhood but glad that I can make up for it now. Just seeing how nostalgic my mom feels when ordering chickpea, ghorabie, and Kolompeh, is very heartwarming! Thank you Fariba!!!

I have been buying my Persian sweets and cookies from ZoZoBaking for years now. I love everything about this bakery. They have created the best of the best. No other store can be compared to what they are making. The taste, the presentation and the service is beyond everything else. They have taken the art of making Persian sweets to the next level. I love everything about them. Thank you so much ZoZoBaking. Saghi

Google
,I ordered a few Persian sweet boxes recently and everything was perfect in terms of taste, quality and presentation. It was way beyond my expectation, and I really recommend everyone especially people who live out of California to order and enjoy high quality Persian sweets.

These heavenly morales are the haute couture version of Persian delicacies. Each one must be tasted to fully appreciate the high-quality ingredients. Thank you, Fariba Khanoom, for bringing such delicious and elegant cookies into our lives. I am eagerly looking forward to ordering several trays for the upcoming weddings in our family.

Google
Unbelievably yummy, real, authentic Persian cookies - real kolompeh and other delights, and the spectacular Pistachio Rose Cake. Fariba is amazing at her craft, and the space itself is so pretty. If you start eating, you can't stop!

Yelp
We continue to enjoy kolompeh cookies and other goodies from ZoZo Baking, baked by master baker Fariba. She uses all natural ingredients, some gluten free and very little sugar. We also buy the most amazing Mah-Jan tea and prepare with cardamom pods, the true Iranian way. There are also cute gifts like tea strainers, great jams, all natural, prepared by Fariba, and the crown jewel, the rosewater pistachio cake, which has to be ordered in advance. Last time we were in, we sat in her beautiful space drinking tea and eating a mountain of cookies. You just don't want to leave! Highly recommended!

Yelp
I visited this place over the weekend. The cookies were amazingly good. Loved it I ordered a variety of goodies, which tasted so fresh and was really good

Yelp
This Persian bakery won my heart today. It's a secret little gem that serves delicious treats and has friendly, helpful staff. As soon as I walked through the door, I knew I was going to have a great service. The date cookies are the first thing we should talk about. There is nothing better than these date cookies. Each cookie is a little piece of happiness because it was made with the best dates and lots of love. They are soft, sweet, and melt in your mouth. I couldn't stop myself from having just one, because one led to another. ZoZo's date cookies are a must-try and a true proof to how good their baking is. So, if you're searching for an outstanding bakery that combines exceptional date cookies and other Persian treats with an unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service, ZoZo is your quick destination at the mall. Their pastries will satisfy your sweet tooth, and their hospitable staff will leave you feeling like family.

Yelp
I am so happy I found this location in Simi Valley. A friend of mine first introduced me to ZoZo Baking in Houston, Texas and I instantly fell in love. I just purchased the Komach Sehen Dates walnuts pie and 2 orders of the Kolompeh and my friends and I enjoyed them so much. These items are the perfect pastry to have at any event. I also throughly enjoy having the both with my morning coffee. Fariba was so incredibly sweet and took great care of me. I will definitely be a long time customer!!!!

Yelp
Very tasty. I pretty much ordered everything. The ingredients are high quality. I love that their pastries aren't too sweet or for some they use date only (kolompeh). The mix of spices is just right . I ordered online. They were very responsive and everything was packed well.

Yelp
Best Persian bakery in all of LA. If they add more variety and bring the price lower this place would be line everyday. They need to add more Persian items to their menu. Also, so many Persians in Simi Valley. There needs to be more Persian stores here.

Yelp
I ordered the Shiraz, a box of an assortment of mini Iranian pastries beautifully and thoughtfully wrapped, beribboned, and packaged like a gift from Cartier. When I opened the partitioned box with its artistically placed, mostly coördinated pastel colored delicacies, they looked like little precious jewels. There seem to be close to 20 different varieties which require much preparation & work. All the pastries are light on sugar. Most of the pastries tend to be made of textures similar to shortbread. They powder delicately in the mouth and then dissolve into a creaminess. Same for the Macaron Méringue stuffed w/ crushed nuts. Vegan Marzipan Mulberries & Saffron Marzipan are exceptions in that the texture feels coconutty and of pleasantly fibrous almonds, flavours of rosewater, almond extract. Also, a crimped around the edges Empanada containing walnuts had a harder chewier feel. Diamond shaped Coconut is grittier & has coconut milk & some cardamom. The Kolompeh are round, pattern imbossed pastries flavoured w/ saffron, rosewater, possibly spices like turmeric, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon. Filled w/ purée of dates, pistacchio, etc. Many of the pastries leave a faint, elegant aftertaste of aromatic spice. Since I could only pick up due to the Pandemic, I didn't have the opportunity to ask about each pastry's name and associated ingredients in the comfort of what looks like a charming tearoom where I could have had signature Persian tea blends paired to a side order of Iranian pastries not included in the Shiraz. My first introduction to Iranian pastries. Perhaps some of them may have origins datIng back 2,500 years to the court kitchens of the Persian empire of Cyrus, Darius & Xerxes. I have experienced Persian ice creams before and many of the flavourIngs such as rose water, saffron, orange blossom water, pistacchio are similar.  Just a reminder if you are ordering: Please allow 24-48 hours to process your orders. You can place your orders: Call us at (818) 900-6644 Place your orders online, use promo code "Pickup" and set a pick up date at the check out. Please note pick up days are Tues. Wed. Yelp
This bakery features handmade traditional Persian pastries using the freshest of exotic ingredients such as rosewater, quince, dates and saffron. A welcoming departure from the standard faire of cookies, cupcakes and donuts. I recommend a small box which will provide you an assortment of items. Each box is hand packed with a bow and makes for a great gift. I've also taken a box to the office and it was a hit. The very helpful and friendly staff will help explain the ingredients, flavors and help curate the perfect box for you. They even have a small selection of gluten free treats. All made-to-order items can be ordered on their website and picked up here. They are located on the far east side of the mall in the food court area, next to the old Men's Macy's. I can't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
I rarely write reviews, and I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but I felt very disappointed with their communication and costumer service, which is why I'm writing this review. I hope this feedback will help improve their communication with future costumers. I pre-ordered Shiraz box and pomegranate chai in mid-February since ZoZo Baking advertised that all early Nowruz orders would be shipped between March 7-15. On 3/11, I received email notification that my order was shipped, however, the tracking only indicated that "the label was created" (the shipping status was never updated). When the package didn't arrive for Nowruz, I called ZoZo Baking on Mon 3/22, left a voicemail and also sent a message through their website and instagram inquiring about my order. I received a response 2 days later, saying that the USPS did not take any responsibility for the package, and that ZoZo would be happy to resend it or to refund me. Since this was a special gift, I asked them to resend it. I then received ZoZo's email a week later (3/31), saying that they contacted the post office (I'm not sure what took another week to do so) and that apparently my address was wrong. They also said that if the address was correct, then "why post office wasn't able to deliver the box?" Further, they quoted their policy stating that in the event of providing a wrong address, ZoZo Baking is "not responsible for the package not being delivered." Since my address was entered correctly, and the package was never even shipped from CA (as shown in the USPS Tracking system), I replied that my address is correct and that I never had any problems with USPS (or even with international mail). Needless to say that this (unnecessary) correspondence made me upset, because we were already at the end of March, and I still haven't received a package that I ordered in mid-Feb. ZoZo Baking then responded that they would "make the exception" this time. I truly felt that it was not my fault that the first package was never shipped from CA. In my response, I restated that this was a special gift, and that it didn't make sense to blame the wrong address while the issue was clearly somewhere else (The package was either lost or stolen before being scanned for shipping, but of course, USPS does not take responsibility for that). It took another week for them to ship the package (4/7) that arrived today (4/12), almost 2 months after my order. This was a gift for my Persian boyfriend who was, nevertheless, happy to receive it even if it's been weeks after Nowruz. The cookies are no doubt delicious and nicely presented. I'm not sure what happened to the pomegranate chai, but the ingredients don't contain pomegranate. Please see photos for the reference. I sincerely hope that this bakery puts as much effort in their costumer service as they do in their baking!

Yelp
I have never had Persian pastries before so I was excited but nervous to try them. I asked for the assorted cookies box ($15) to try them and see which ones I did like. To be honest, all of them were so good. Honestly, it was delicious, can't wait to go back and try them again, and try other pastries. In addition to the great pastries, the lady whom assisted me was so kind and also gave my children a free sample. Coming back here again, soon!

Yelp
I'm so happy to come across this place. I got a small box of cookies and they were all good. I hope this business continues to grow and do well. I am certainly coming back for more and telling my friends and family about the bakery.

Yelp
I live in North Carolina and have been one of Zozobaking's customers for a long time. The pastries are by far my favorite and are so delicate. I have a few favorites, but all the sweets I've tried are simply divine. I'm also fond of the homemade jams I've tried. I frequently use the recipes on Zozobaking's webpage, too. Along with delicious recipes and sweets, I'm in love with the table runners and home goods that are from Iran. I have some of the most beautiful and unique pieces I've ordered over the years. Love.

Roya S.

Yelp
I ordered komaj sehen for my husband and it was eatable. The spices had no aroma. Everything looked so good on picture but not so good in taste

Alex D.

Yelp
I am beyond excited that ZozoBaking is now a brick and mortar store! The persian pastries here are just amazing. Many of the varieties offered here you simply cannot find anywhere else. And the quality of ingredients and attention to detail are unsurpassed. If you're looking for an elegant and unique gift, a box of ZoZoBaking's sweets are perfect. They are packaged beautifully, and taste wonderful too. I'm especially of the chickpea cookies, which are powdery-crumbly like a Mexican wedding cookie, and so tasty to have with a cup of black tea. The kolompeh, rice cookies, and persian baklava are also favorites. If you are closeby to Simi Valley, this shop is a must-try. And if you aren't, they ship their beautiful packages of sweets all over.

Yelp
The best packaging, presentation and artistry. Each item is presented in such a beautiful way that makes it so unique. The feeling of being personally receiving a home made treasure. It is the best and most appreciated gift! Love ZOZO Baking!! Thank you, Sharon

Yelp
No one can understand the craving of pregnant women when it comes to specific sweets from your city in Iran, my sister-in-law had a craving for Kolompe, and we couldn't find it in La, I start searching online and came a cross Zozobaking, I placed my order online and I was wishing for the right taste for our pregnant mom to be, I received my package today, package came and it was packaged absolutely perfect, I had left a note in Farsi for my sister-in-law that they had wrote it down on a beautiful card with lovely Farsi hand writing, and let me tell you about the taste that is beyond your imagination, fresh like you just pull it off the oven right there and than, everything is prefect A to Z, will definitely order again and now that I know they are located in about 20 minutes from me I can go in person and shop at the bakery, thanks aging Zozobaking to bring the taste of Kerman to our house all the way in California, the word of mouth is the best way of advertising and you have me as one of those people that I recommend Zozo baking to anyone who is asking for good tasty sweets, happy customer

Ante J.

Yelp
Very carefully packed and beautifully made pastries. Kolompeh is sweet but not too sweet and works perfectly with a cup of tea. Definitely recommended!

Valerie H.

Yelp
I have ordered the most scrumptious sweets from ZoZo. Recently, I asked her to do a special presentation for an extremely important larger event. Fariba was simply awesome to work with. Everything was timely delivered exactly in the tasteful packaging we had ordered and the delicacies she gingerly prepared arrived perfectly and were so well received. I found her to be warm, honest and reliable and her amazing baked goods to be incomparable. I am working on other projects and will be using ZoZo Baking again and look forward to splurging on personal orders as well. It is my pleasure to give ZoZo Baking my highest commendation.

Maryam N.

Yelp
I received my first order today, they are all amazingly chic, delicious and tasty! The packaging is beautiful for gifting especially gift of Noruz. I'm from New York and I was extremely disappointed by my Noruz order from Popilee Patisserie this year. I used to order from there but not anymore, they showed something on their website and sent you something very little for an extraordinary high price, not enough to fill a small plate for Haft Seen, not to mention there was no weight mentioned! You would see a nicely decorated tray which was extremely misleading. Upon inquiry I was told the picture was a sample ! However nowhere in description said the pictures were samples. At ZOZO Bakery I got what I saw, delicious, nicely decorated and in one word amazing!!! I will order again and recommend them to all friends and family who are celebrating Noruz. They have other products that I will definitely order, thank you ZOZO Bakery for being honest with all the nice products you offer.
