Came here with family on a Monday evening, the outside area is so cozy and we watched the volleyball game going on. The food is good and the portions are pretty big. Pricing is very reasonable and we were actually shocked with the bills. We played Cornhole as well. Only complaint is our waiter took awhile collecting our cards, returning them but we understood he was busy and he apologized. Will definitely be back.

Highly recommend root veggie with Polish kilbasa...not on the menu but worth the request. Josh took great care of us. And did I mention their own parking? Yep. You are welcome!

Google
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! I have eaten at this place before on more than one occasion, so when I decided to go for my lunch break, a coworker asked me to grab them something as well. We spent almost $60 on lunch and our food was HORRIBLE!! First off, it was cold, I asked for ranch and got honey mustard. When I DID remind the cashier that I needed a side of ranch he charged me $1. Second, my fries (that didn’t come with my pita and I had to pay an additional $2.50 for) were really, really, reallllly greasy, hard, and burnt looked like they cooked them twice to warm them up….My coworker’s salad was wilted and definitely not worth $19!! When I called to complain, just to let them know we were disappointed, the “manager” I spoke with brushed it off like oh, well. Told me if I come back next week he could possibly do something about it, I told him that I was NEVER COMING BACK and I meant that! Z’s VILLA will never see my money again.

Google
Whether I get their standout Detroit-style pizza, the equally delicious corned beef sandwiches, or the wonderful fish like walleye, the food , atmosphere, and service all keep me coming back. (I keep meaning to ask, is this place any relation to the late, lamented Z’s near the Wayne State campus? Many fond memories there from back in the day…)

Google
Stopped here before going to see a show, they were pretty busy for a Thursday night. The food was all good and we will definitely come back. It is small and not a lot of seats inside. They have outdoor seating also.

Google
Excellent fish n chips and perch meals. Fish was very tasty, fresh and good portion sizes. Nice to see on the daily menu. French fries thick and very good. Coleslaw very good, portion size below average . We were upstairs and service was a bit slow primarily due to only one person was taking care of the tables and bar. Both upper and lower levels have a bar & tables.

Google
Steve has a heart of hospitality gold. The owner of Z’s Pizza, literally left his restaurant—during the Friday night rush—to give me a ride to the Fisher Theatre so I wouldn’t miss the Nikki Glaser show. Who does that?! It’s rare to find someone who not only runs an amazing local spot but also embodies the spirit of community like this. Absolute legend.

Google
I really enjoyed my experience at Z’s. The staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in. I asked what was good they made some suggestions and I decided to go with the Cajun Steak Bites and let’s just say it was amazing and came out smoked hot!!! Thanks Steve, Arthur and the entire team for a great 1st experience. I highly recommend visiting them.

Yelp
Stopped in for a lunch date and we had the best time. We decided to sit at the bar as ot was packed of course... I've been here a couple of times and it's always packed during lunch which is a good thing. Service was and is always excellent. The food was super good and it was definitely a great time.

Yelp
Came here for vollyball night as there's a setup behind the restaurant. The food was great, We had 2 platters- both land and sea- Catfish with ribs and the other shrimp and ribs. Food was great though the ribs bit on the fatty side but still very flavorful and fall off the bone. Inside and outside the service was great and prompt. Only thing is the kitchen closes at 9 on a weekend.

Yelp
This place is our favorite! My husband and I came here on our first date and now we stop in here every time we have something special to celebrate The food is good, the pizza is phenomenal, and the drinks are made strong! The service is always great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everyone is super friendly. I can't say enough good things about Z's!

Kathy B.

Yelp
This place is a gem. We were heading to the Fisher for a show and looking for a quick, inexpensive bite. When I walked in the door I expected to hear the other patrons to yell "norm!", it felt like one of those honey places where everyone knows your name. We were lucky enough to score a table quickly, and the waitress immediately asked if we were trying to make a show so she could make sure she had us out of there. Then the owner stopped by to ask the same. Service was awesome and very quick. Food was great and inexpensive. Will definitely come back in summer to check out the patio. I felt like I had dinner with someone's awesome big family.

Yelp
Came here with a group of folks from a business class course. The square pizzas looked decent. We weren't here for food, mostly for drinks and a social gathering after class. We sat out on the patio. The port-a John's out on the patio is a bit unpleasant scenery though. The patio is chilled otherwise. Prices are reasonable and service was decent.

Yelp
The fish was so good and the corn beef was huge and soooo yummy!! will be going again!

Louise H.

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Visiting from SF and haven't had walleye like this before. We also got the pizza and it was delicious. The staff were all so lovely from the moment we stepped foot on the property. The music and vibes were on point too. An absolute must-try!
google avatar

Ash B.

Yelp
The fish and chips were phenomenal! Food came out fast and hot! Coleslaw was delicious, fries were cooked to perfection. I'll definitely be returning to try more things on the menu. Very cozy vibe. Our server Wendy was amazing!

Yelp
Gave them 1 more shot - done ! A waste of a great patio ! NO FAULT of hard working waitresses, staff. Owner - mike? Can kill any type of fun - runs around bitching about anything. 3 rd time here -that they always claim credit card machines are down- really - just say cash only! Burger I had tasted good. Server was funny and good- just can't past the always ANGRY owner - take a breath & enjoy life !

Yelp
Lots of history in this old Brownstone. Great staff and the food was delicious. Don't miss Z's when In town.

Steve A.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! If you're looking for a great food and unmatched service this is the place. Everything we ordered was presented in a fantastic manner and was so delicious! If you are in Detroit, you need to find this place and go there. Thanks Mike, you really delivered!

Tom F.

Yelp
We got the meatloaf and seafood platter to go, excellent as always. Fun crowd, easy in and easy out. You can't beat this place!

Marcia B.

Yelp
The godfather left a lot to be desired. The feta and 3 additional cheese pulled me in but it was mostly bread. The crispy wing dings were half Buffalo and half sweet Chilli sauce. Put the sweet chilli sauce as an option because it was literally the chef's kiss. The Buffalo had no kick LOVE THE MUSIC AND THE ambiance I would try a different pizza. The service was good as well
google avatar

Sunchez S.

Yelp
Diamond in the rough! Food was delicious and the service was even better. Arthur and Marcus were very helpful and attentive. Menu had plenty to choose from at more than reasonable prices. Check for daily specials too. Nice cozy place. Played Motown music. To top it off, beer was great, workers were super helpful and friendly, and we were brought free samples of an absolutely delicious minestrone soup without having to ask. Awesome vibe to the place as well. *ANOTHER TIME* I thought I couldn't fall more in love with Z's Villa... until we hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner there! The food was amazing and our guests loved the casual night, outdoor games and music. The staff was so kind and helpful, it was literally the easiest thing we did in the entire planning process! It was threatening to storm that night, and though I've held events in their nice private room upstairs, we really hoped to be outside. Steve was right on top of things, and even without me asking, he promised to do whatever he could to have us outdoors. They were ready to move us at a moment's notice, but the rain held, and any sprinkles were combated by the patio tents. The bartenders and wait staff were wonderful, as usual. If I so much as looked around, one of them would make sure I didn't need anything. And Steve even divided our leftovers into different containers so any late night guests could take home a doggy bag with a mix of food. The thoughtful touches were a huge sign of their professionalism and devotion to their restaurant. Thanks again!

Linda P.

Yelp
We got seated right away. Got our drinks right away. Places our orders right away. Food delivered right away. Food was delicious and perfect. Wait staff friendly and attentive. So good. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is definitely a neighborhood spot. I gave it 3 stars for the especially small and ill placed bathroom and the very dark, small and cramped decor if you're dining in. It's a popular spot and the food and drinks are pretty good so I don't understand why they don't invest more money into decent seating. Also people are allowed to play outdoor games which is cool ... as long as they don't do it in the middle of the outside dining where they could hit you and potentially cause you to hit them. Server was friendly but forgetful, she had to go back several times for things but she had a good attitude. Drinks were good, food was decent and the prices were ok. Come when it's warm or get it to go.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming here since they were on Woodward and Warren Avenue the food is always good and the drinks are Dynamite see you soon

Yelp
Had an awesome date day with my 11yr old daughter. We played corn hole. Are outside with the warmers. Our server was great he had an awesome personality and was very accommodating. Thank you Guys I'll definitely be back with my fiancé. They have volleyball set up with sand and all.

Yelp
Went here before a concert at LCA because they have a free shuttle to and from. Ordered the pizza, which was very good, but not mind-blowing or unforgettable. The place is in great shape for being over 100 years old. The ambiance is clean w/ a traditional bar feel, wood everywhere. Since it was originally a house, it has a broken up feel to sit everyone comfortably. Randy, the shuttle driver took care of us as well. He made sure he gave us his # so we could call at the end of the concert. My girlfriend actually traded #'s w/ him as well. We ended up taking an Uber home, and he called us to make sure we got home safe! - Now that's service! Great location to catch a meal before a game or concert - reasonable prices, and secure-ish parking. Now that I know they have a free shuttle, I'll be coming here more often.

Yelp
I enjoy the atmosphere the food is always great the people are always good to you make you feel at home while you're enjoying your meal or just a drink meeting up after work. It's a great place

Daughter Of T.

Yelp
Ordered fish and chips recently ( in fact a few days ago) and the fish was horrible, not sure what kind of fish that was. I've had this meal in the past years, and it was tasty.
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Great little spot with really good food and a great staff and clientele. We cannot wait to return when it warms up and the patio is open!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the patio here and the atmosphere. The inside is tiny but the outdoor area is big. It is great on a nice, sunny Michigan day to hang out with the family. Kid friendly for sure with volleyball and other summer games. The patio even let us have our dog in their and provided us with water. The pizza their is pretty good and recommend it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star us that the service was lacking. However, the place was busy and maybe they felt overwhelmed.

Michael J.

Yelp
Good food, service, and prices. Order ahead or arrive early for lunch - the place gets busy fast (but the service is quick also).

Michael M.

Yelp
Had the grilled vegetable salad with chicken added and it was delicious. I may have to skip taking my lunch once a week and get this salad.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Huge salad portions!!!! Got a antipasto salad and a side portion of fries and couldn't finish either. Fairly small location but nice group seating upstairs. Street parking and parking lot available.
google avatar

Monique H.

Yelp
Tried the YAYA gumba it was okay, good thing they let you get a sample. I had the hamburger with bacon and a side of fries, nothing special to rave about. Next time I'll try something different or the pizza.. I did like that the space out side was very open, and they had heating lamps. Not in a big rush to go back unless someone recommends something ‍
google avatar

Rodolfo C.

Yelp
Quaint and cozy, we stopped here for a late lunch after a visit to a museum. We both ordered the turkey burger, it was delicious. Came with fries and they were quite good too. The service was excellent, our waitress was very friendly. There's tables and a bar, and even an upstairs section that was closed probably because of covid. Very reasonable as well, will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. A Detroit classic. Old school and exactly the kind of place to pregame or post game. Close to Wayne State University. Fantastic Reuben, deep dish pizza and onion rings. Don't expect anything fancy.....this is a "Detroit Joint". Great big patio and convenient parking. Owner/manager was present and visible. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Z's Villa is a great place to eat before an event downtown. We went before a play at the Fisher Theater. Since two of the people we were with had parked at Z's and my wife and I were parked at the theater, it was easy for us to all take their shuttle they have, over to the theater. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We did not know about the shuttle until the owner came over and asked if we were going to the theater. We replied yes and he explained how the shuttle worked. They have a great menu and everyone at the table was happy with what they received. I'd love to go back and hang out on the patio. It looks like a great space.

Yelp
The fish and fries are great didn't care for the coleslaw and the pizza is deelish the staff very friendly which is a plus I would patronize again

Rodrigo T.

Yelp
I've been hearing about this place and have always wanted to come here. My cousin invited me for some drinks and I was so in. First thing I did was check out what food everybody was buzzing about.. so we decided to order the pizza... The pizza was very good,, the crust was somewhat closely related to the Jets Pizza chain, but the toppings and the sauce was more to the artisan side. Amazing food, great place to hang out and enjoy a pitcher or 2 of beer. Definitely will be coming back here. (",)

L N.

Yelp
The concept and atmosphere of this restaurant was very cool but the service was so bad it took away from the experience. Food was very slow leaving the kitchen and came in stages with no urgency or recognition for the inconvenience. Two meals were served and eaten before other meals were brought to the table. Will not be back.

Michele G.

Yelp
poor management Picked up order at 830 PM after working a hard days work. Got food home, it smelled bad! Tried eating it, everything was burned and overcooked. The grease was old! Called the next day, spoke with Mike the "owner", he told me to call back after 4:30 once the night crew was in. I called at 5 PM, spoke with Steve. Told him about my food. He tried to tell me I needed to speak with Mike. Nope! I already did earlier and he told me to speak with you! Steve got mad. I could hear it in his voice. He says well we're too busy now to make it. I said I'll come at 8 when I get off. I called at 8, spoke to Steve, he said it'll be ready when you get here. I got there about 8:20 and told the waitress I was there to pick up a recooked order. She was nice and proceeded to get the order. Steve comes from his corner by the window and jukebox, grabs my food out the window, opens it up and says very nasty, is this better? I looked it over and smelled it and said much better than yesterday. Steve says I change my grease every night very sarcastically. I said apparently you didn't change it last night! My food was hard, burned & smelly!! Instead of sitting back down in the corner where he came from, he thought it was a good idea to go back and forth with me like a child! I will never spend my money in that establishment ever again! I have informed my children and all of my family not to as well. This is a place we'd go to have drinks or a bite to eat before a game and such. Never again!

Yelp
Again.... Husband and I on our Foodie Find Journey..... Stumble upon this Gem! Right in the middle of nowhere and somewhere, is a quaint building with a homey feel. The guy behind the bar was very friendly and accommodating. The food was awesome! The corned beef is very tender and flavorful, the onion roll was nicely grilled. My husband had the motor city club, he's a big guy and couldn't finish it all. I would most definitely come back here again. P. S. When the check came.... The bartender gave us a dessert beer shot!!!! WINNING
google avatar

G X.

Yelp
The bar soldiered through the Covid pandemic and they kept me warm and comfortable through the winner we have a group that goes there every other Friday night they make good Long Island Ice-T's and Wendy is one of the best waitresses in the world.
google avatar

Eldwin L.

Yelp
What more can be said about Z's Villa than all of the reviews have already said. The most important thing to point out would have to be that this has been a solid Detroit bar for a very long time with solid Detroit food. Since before the gentrification. This is a spot for regulars and newcomers alike. Definitely worth a dinner and a drink.
google avatar

WS U.

Yelp
I love this place. Stopped in before and after Slow Roll tonight. They always aim to please. Their food is delicious. A nice, quaint, hideaway. Always been a favorite of mine even when they were on the corner of Woodward and Warren.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in here recently for the first time and were really impressed. The building is really cool and the service was great. I enjoyed the pizza and cheesy garlic bread. The prices were really reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Z's Villa is one of those classic establishments that warmly embrace their extraordinary and casual mediocrity. They push the fact that the bar is located in a historic home, but the site isn't maintained as a historic home, it's covered in cracked asphalt with a parking attendant, because how could we possibly live in a city where we had to park on the street or, heaven forbid, walk more than fifteen feet from our car to our destination? This is the kind of spot that simultaneously tries to cultivate an image of a "neighborhood" bar, even though every car has driven from (and shall drunkenly drive home to) some remote suburb. I won't fault them for perpetuating the abomination that is "Detroit-style" pizza, because they do an okay job at it. I was there for an event and the rest of the food was at least tolerable or "tolerable plus" as far as pub fare is concerned. Pluses: They have a great patio in back with a volleyball court. The crowd seemed pretty diverse and friendly, and staff were pretty great. Labatt Blue is $3.
google avatar

Linda G.

Yelp
Really dirty and dark place. I think they purposely dim the lights so you can't see how disturbing your food looks. Don't go in the restrooms unless you want to vomit. How sanitary the place is (dining and restrooms) tells a lot of what the food is like and this place is disgusting
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
First time at Z's Villa this evening but won't be our last. Throwback kind of place that had a lively bar full of regulars, cozy dining room in a 100+ year old house. Huge menu with reasonable prices. They have a Manhattan Seafood Chowder weekly that was awesome. Massive portions. We didn't have it but their pizza looks very good...I want to try it next time we visit. Walking distance to the QLINE. Free parking, too. Highly recommended.

Mary Ann F.

Yelp
A great hidden spot in the downtown scene. Been coming here for years and always enjoy the ambiance and charm of this sort of "Sports" bar. The food is unexpectedly good, ---- Soups, salads and burgers top notch. Haven't tried the pizza here but it looks good!. --- My favorite is the catfish, along with their exceptional bloody mary's. Come in the summertime as well and eat outdoors on the vast space that also accomodates team sports and a relaxing vibe. Can't miss!
google avatar

Yelp
My first experience at Z's was lunch and I had the pita sandwich. Honestly, it was pretty lame and I wasn't anxious to go back. Several months later a friend suggested we hit Zs before a Tiger's game. They offered a free shuttle so the cheapskate in me figured if I did nothing more than spend my $20 parking money on beer, it would be a win since beer is $10 at Comerica Park! We arrived before the other Tiger's fans and started with the bucket of beer special...6 domestic beers of our choice in an icy cold bucket for $15. Yep, I'm already saving money on my parking and I have ICE COLD BEER! The waiter walks by with an awesome looking pizza. What goes great with cold beer? That's right kids, PIZZA! I order the "Warrior" which was a Detroit style pizza made with meaty goodness. It was fantastic! Two of us ate the whole large, no dogs at the park for us! The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Y'all know how much I gripe about lousy service so Z's gets a gold star for that! Randy, the shuttle driver was kind enough to give us a 15 minute warning that his van would be leaving for the game. We drank up our beer and he said we could ask the bartender for a roadie. What, what, what? We can drink on the bus to the park? I have died and gone to heaven (If there's no beer in heaven, I'm not going!). Randy dropped us off, gave our drunk butts instructions about where/when he would pick us up, told us to be safe and enjoy the game. I gave him a big hug for being such a sweetie. He has a great laugh! After the game, Randy was waiting for us at the appointed place and the designated time. He was friendly and a great, safe driver. We went back into Zs for an after game celebration. Randy made the experience great for us with his friendly demeanor. If you take his shuttle, tip him big because he's a swell guy. So, my second take on Z's is don't order the pita, get the pizza and icy cold beer!

Yelp
I tried. I tried so hard. But just can't get myself to go back. Service was decent, great for Detroit. The place itself is kind of cool looking from the inside. People are having a good time around you. But I did not feel welcomed. I felt really outta of place with V and there was some awkwardness. We were new faces and it sure felt like everyone knew it. I somehow became desi and V became whitey. Welcome: this is my culture. Except it's not. I eat crappy food, but I don't eat BAD food. And most of all, I don't enjoy ribs that are boiled and soggy. The sauce was neon pink and absolutely inedible. I remember I was starving and I didn't even want to eat for the rest of the day after the first rib. It was so bad that even V didn't take the rest home. That's BAD. Of course I had to taste the cole slaw, and yes, it was terrible. But cole slaw is always bad. I'm just always a sucker for punishment. This is the trashy side of Detroit, the part of Downriver that never floated downriver. They eked out a place and stayed. This was not scene, and there were no scenesters ... or hipsters. Or whatever you kids want to be called now a days. So what IS this place? It's where ribs come to die. It's a place where you can have a nice stiff cheap drink and watch this thing called "football" on nice flat screen TVs. Also anything out of the frier is good. The onion rings were tasty, but did not make up for this horrific suffocatingly sweet pink taste I had in my mouth. I should go back, but right now I just can't figure out why I would. There are so many better places to go.

Yelp
I ordered the roasted veggie salad & it was excellent. Big salad with lots of roasted vegetables.
