I really wanted to fall in love with Weinhaus Zum Krug. Looked so perfect on paper: family run, great restaurant, local charm in a beautiful village.||||The hotel was reached easily from Frankfurt via Wiesbaden - the hotel is a short walk through the quaint village from the railway station.||||The greeting was warm and friendly. My room was (I must assume) in the non-refurbished part of the hotel but was spacious, clean and comfortable. Perfectly fine. The wifi was patchy, but could connect by the door then use elsewhere in the room: may be of concern for the business traveller.||||Unfortunately the first-floor room was overlooking the courtyard and outside seating area. This meant that there was noise through the evening, until getting on for midnight. Not ideal for my meetings the next day. The earplugs provided in the bathroom are clearly there for a reason.||||You need to book for dinner. If you don't, there are seemingly few other options in the village. Fortunately they squeezed me in. Again, very friendly service from the waiting staff. The herb soup was absolutely delicious. However, my main of bream was not cooked in the centre - completely raw. This was taken away uncomplainingly, then returned to me cooked through. Rather disappointing given the rave reviews for the restaurant and given how popular it clearly is with the locals who were dining there.||||Breakfast was a highlight - small but fresh buffet, and a perfectly boiled egg brought on order.||||I cannot fault the room or the friendly welcome, but the noise really detracted from the experience of the hotel.
