Best restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz. Better than the michelin starred Haydeé we visited. Update (2025): Also better than El Taller de Seve Diaz.
The palette of the chef is commendable. Far more exciting and interesting than Haydeé and El Taller.
One of the first dishes was a scallop drenched in mango foam. We both agreed our minds went somewhere else for a second. I think I became a stock broker in Florida in the 80’s.
Croquettes were good. Dumplings were cool. One had a tangy asian-gingery vibe, the other a god damn subliminal curry. Like spelling the words C-U-R-R-Y, but still being interesting, layered and half-sweet. Just well done!
Fried shrimp in iceberg lettuce SHOULD have been served in a different lettuce. Tasted EXACTLY like a McChiken at McDonalds (lol). Good though.
The prawn ceviche bowl served with onions, roasted corn, beans, cucumber and tiger’s milk was F-U-N! Each bite a new experience, a new direction, a new something! Good job making such a simple dish so exciting!
The meat dish had a super hard glaze, and was a tad too heavy for my palette. Tasted like a traditional Norwegian steak meal.
The white chocolate sauce with mojito was just fun.
Best part of the experience was the music school practicing in the apartments above. The choir practice mixed with the music from the restaurant made it feel like you were in a White Lotus-episode.
Service was a bit all over the place, but I’m here for the food, and the food and wine covered for all of it.
Fun eating!
Update (2025): Visited again this year. Still good and still interesting. The meat dishes tend to go a bit heavy, but the more exotic dishes are heavenly. Like the tuna with coconut ice cream. The Padilla Tinto is really good if you like peppery/volcanic wines.
Passion fruit dessert with mojito ice cream is a stroke of genius. Wish I had the recipe.
