Visited without reservation around 5 pm. Most tables reserved from 6pm. She (waitress) offert a 6pm reserved table. She said ‘you will be ready around 6’ not really inviting. We saw a table reserved at 7pm so desided for that one. Food was wunderfull not cheap but very fresh fish. Around 6:30pm waitrass came and asked if we could pay. We said ok because we were finished anyway. But it feld rushed. I asked twice why pay now we still have 1/2 hr left before reservation. She said. ‘Because i have time now!’ So the general feeling was not that we where welcome there. To bad the place is really cosy and the food lovely.

What a lovely place. This restaurant is- a must-go - whenever you are in Rostock. The atmosphere and the whole design make it a very nice and charming place. This isn't a high-class restaurant but you gotta book a table in time. The food and the drinks are good. Big plates and big glasses... ! A good price-performance ratio. The waiter was very friendly, charming and courteous. I'll return!

Had a fantastic northern German meal at this quirky nautical themed restaurant. Prices are pretty reasonable for German food, which is always on the expensive side (16-25€ for mains). Beers were around 6€ for a large draft beer. The decorations, Hanseatic league and sailing memorabilia (hung up all over the ceiling and walls) are absolutely bonkers but very charming. We had a helpful and friendly waiter who was serving the top floor. Our dishes were delicious. I would recommend booking a table at busy times. Great experience!

Interesting decor and a solid choice for food. Visited April 2024. Our food arrived in a fair amount of time in a busy restaurant. Our fish dishes were prepared well and were tasty. Fair beer selection.

Come here for the atmosphere and to have a drink. Food was OK, but nothing spectacular.

It was restaurant designed as like a ship which created a very cozy and special atmosphere. The food was delicious, even the salad side dish was tasty and refreshing. And it was very decent portions. You won’t be hungry afterwards. Drinks were nice. The waitress were hospitality.

Very nice and cozy place. Extremely good decorated with ships and see stuff. The food (for me) was not so delicious, but it might have been the dish I choose. The staff was very friendly and cool.

It is small but has some history. The interior is super awesome! Some tables have old currency mainly from Germany but also coins from visiting sailors of the years gone by. Staff are nice. Very busy restaurant so it will take a while to get your food. Dishes are large. Mainly fish. Some meat and veg options.

Yelp
I hope to try more food from this city along the Baltic Sea but for now it is a 4-star meal to me! It was tougher to find English reviews and recommendations for Rostock than Berlin or Hamburg but I saw multiple recommendations online for Zur Kogge. I was worried that the tourist attraction would lack gastronomically. Thankfully, I was wrong. I arrived to find a large tour group dining and only one free table left. Throughout my meal, I witnessed many diners turned away because they were booked up (this was on a Monday night), so make sure to come early or make a reservation. If you want the best view of the nautical decor, reserve a table on the upper level. My drink and food orders were taken promptly even though they were BUSY. I ordered the Rostocker Export draught to start. It was a great pour and went perfectly with my food. I ordered the pumpkin ginger soup and I sat there for 10-15 minutes with my taste buds blown. It was served hot, with dark bread croutons and pumpkin oil. It was smooth but thick and warmed my entire body. I ordered the sauteed herring with potatoes and green beans (Frisch gebratene Ostseeheringe mit deftigen grünen Speckbohnen und Bratkartoffeln) as my entree. I hadn't had a fish with bone-in in a long time, so eating it was a bit of a challenge for me. The flavors were great but the dish overall was a tad heavy. Both the potatoes and green beans are sauteed in bacon grease. I left feeling content and fit in a nice 15-minute walk before getting on the bus back to Berlin. I will definitely bring friends along next time.

Yelp
The atmosphere is cool. The service is polite but dry and impersonal. The menu is very limited with few options and very poor descriptions of the food. The portions are abundant but other than that not very exiting at all. I do not see what is the hype about. I would recommend this place for a drink or for the history of the restaurant but not for their food.

Yelp
Love this place and that was why for my graduation dinner I took my parents (who came all the way from Canada) to eat here! Wow were we happy with amount that was served!!! Don't let the name stop you from coming in -- here not only is fish served but also steak, vegetarian and basically typical North (Rostock) fisherman food. I ordered the Schollen -- it came with a nice fish plate and a generous amount of salad, sauce and either rice or french fries or croquettes (fried potatoes thingy) Try and get a table upstairs- cause there are plenty of old antiques hanging from the wall and nice huge blowfish also. The staff are friendly and perhaps you can also get the Platt-Deutsch menu and learn some words also! All in all, a nice restaurant, centrally located -- across from the harbour so you can also go for a walk after or before or what the heck go into the city for some shopping!

Yelp
Really nice atmosphere by the Baltic sea. It is in an old fisherman's pub which was very popular amongst the fisherman in the past. The fish soup is a must starter and basically any fish plate is highly recommended.
