Tucson’s Best New Restaurants - Eater Phoenix

"Chef Jimmy Aujla expanded his local family of Indian restaurants with Zyka Twist on Fourth Avenue. While the vibes are more casual than his flagship Indian Twist restaurant, it still includes his signature butter chicken." - Jackie Tran

It’s our first time in Tucson and we were craving some Indian food. We really enjoyed the cuisine here. We shared an order of Chicken Tikka Masala and Dhal with garlic naan. I really like how the lentils in the dhal were left whole with large chunks of fresh ginger. I normally order my food very spicy but since we were sharing the dishes we ordered them mild but the food was still extremely flavorful. We will be coming back next time we’re in town. Sorry, we didn’t take any photos of the food.

Google
What a wonderful surprise to find Zyka Twist so close to my home near University! I was craving Indian food and chai all day long!… however, the Indian restaurant I usually go to is closed on Monday. I decided to try something different and my expectations were more than exceeded! The chicken spinach saag was so comforting and the chai tea was freshly made and absolutely fragrant! Everything is made fresh! Also, the portions were a fantastic size and the waiter very kind and accommodating! I’m surprised I haven’t heard more about them on instagram as it seems like there social media presence is somewhat lacking. However, if people knew they would be incredibly excited to try their high vibe food!

Google
New to the area and wanted to get Indian food. This place had good reviews so we gave it a try!!! It did not disappoint the food was amazing great customer service and food was made fresh to order!! Highly recommend!!

Google
Amazing service, they cleaned off the tables and turned on the misters just for us cause we wanted to sit outside. The food was incredible! We shared the medium-heat paneer and mild mango chicken on garlic naan ❤️✨️

Google
Excellent, loved my samosa with 2 chutney and my vegetable biryani. Food arrived quickly. Mild + was perfect with a little bite. The biryani rice was light and fluffy; spices tasty; assorted vegetables with a variety of textures and colors, and it was enough for 2 meals. Take out the cardamom pods before eating. They're tucked in, hiding. I loved the smiling happy server. He was attentive even though it was busy. Street Parking with meters. Saturday at 4pm seemed free. Life is good. Looking forward to my leftovers tomorrow. Yum!

Google
Incredible! Ate there last night with five friends, we all got something different and we all spent the entire meal raving about how delicious everything was. I had the mango chicken, and it was creamy and savory and just a little sweet. Perfect. Super friendly service, even right before closing. Thanks for a great meal; we’ll be back (a little earlier next time!)!

Google
Very fresh and packed with flavor! Chicken Tikka Masala is my general gluten free go-to. Zyka's Tikka is battling for my #1 tikka in Tucson so far. Good portions, balanced flavor, tender chicken. They weren't very busy so service was pretty fast too. Will definitely be back!

Google
I've tried most of the Indian Restaurants in Tucson and this is the 1st one that is legit. The flavors are so good and the quality of every dish was A+. Best Garlic Naan I've had in Tucson and the Chicken Korma was perfect. You must try the chicken pakora, the flavor and texture are perfection. This is gonna be our new regular restaurant.

Yelp
Came in late on a weekday, it was pretty empty but it was a small space. I like the casual ambiance. And the table water had mint which was nice :) our food came out pretty fast after ordering. My favorite parts of the meal were the cauliflower appetizer and the rices that came with the dishes. The rice was well cooked and flavorful. And it was a good portion for our two meals. Now, that garlic cauliflower was amazing! I could just eat a big bowl of that. I do feel like the portion was small for almost being meal priced ($12.95), but it tasted so good I can justify it. It came with some sauces on the side but the wings are perfectly saucy and crisp as is. For my main dish I got Baingan bhartha, mild. It was good, a larger portion than the plate made it seem. It was still a bit spicy for me even though I got mild but that's more a me issue. I'm sure I could've gotten something on the side to cut the spice but didn't feel like asking. The roti also wasn't the type of roti I was expecting, it was kinda like a slightly stiff pita bread. I was thinking more soft Caribbean style roti, but again that was more a me issue. I'd get one of the other naans next time. They have an extensive menu and a patio so I'm excited to come back to try more dishes and drinks next time.

Yelp
Overall the food here is great. This was the first time we did takeout and it was a little chaotic, the staff was upset we arrived a few minutes before the 25ish minute estimate and automatically put on a 20% tip. We've not had issues when eating in here, and the food is just as good at takeout. A significant portion, with curry that clearly has attention to detail.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places for Indian!!! My want for Indian food goes in and out, but I'm usually up for going here. It's comfortable seating and quiet help as well. All the food that I've had here has been excellent I have to remember to tell them I want it spicy, they are using the American scale of spicy not the Indian one. So might see you there!!!

Yelp
Delicious food, everything we ate was absolutely fantastic. The dining area was well lit, and the Indian music videos in the background really enhanced the culinary experience. Service was good, we were not waiting long once we placed our orders. Will come back again!

Yelp
Best Indian food I've had in Tucson. Lots of whole spices and deep flavor. Kind service. Calm quiet non-pretentious atmosphere where you can hear you table mates and really enjoy the food. The Nan is delicious hot and fresh with crisp and chewy bits-perfect.

Kai M.

Yelp
Great choice if you think milk is exciting. I understand cream-based dishes have cream but you can also add spices to them. It's like cream, with the tiniest hint of ginger, tomato, and maybe a mild spice like turmeric. Plus, Taco Bell gives spicier food than their "hot" dishes. Also, tell your employees that if they wish to talk to someone on the phone, put it up their ear and talk into the phone. If they wish to yell at their phone while it's sitting nearby, go outside or into the back of the restaurant.

Yelp
I had a late dinner here last week with a friend. We split a Chicken Tikka Masala ($16.95), a Lamb Vindaloo ($16.95), and a garlic naan ($4.25). We ordered both of our main dishes medium spicy. We both thought it was a great dinner (and plenty spicy). Service was fine. The decor is casual and modern.

Yelp
We were walking in downtown and we were craving some Indian food, this place popped up with good ratings so we decided to give it a try. The place was empty so I was a little concerned but the service was wonderful even when my friend dropped half of her drink on the table they still manage to treat us nicely. The food was soooo good, everything was beautifully presented and so fresh and flavorful. This place used to be a burger joint so they are still working on their decor. We will definitely go back for more.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
The food was solid, lots of vegan/vegetarian options, we'd eat here again if we're in Tucson
google avatar

Shilpa M.

Yelp
This is a typical Indian place out West, but coming from New York, where there is more restaurant competition & a bigger community, the food has more varied flavors there. I was traveling and just craving Chana masala. The dish was pretty big. You can share it by 2-6 people, depending how many people you are with and how many other dishes you order. It was very spicy, though u ordered medium. So I ordered a Raita with it, and ate the whole raita. Parking on a Sunday was very easy on the street. There were a few other groups there for dinner time. Seemed popular with the university students and families.

Yelp
Good place friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good food as well. Didn't take too long for us to get our stuff. In and out really

Yelp
This restaurant is located right off 4th Ave with indoor seating. It had more seating than I thought it would from the outside. Service was great! Staff were friendly and the food came out quick. I'm so glad I found an Indian food place in Tucson! I got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Portions were a good size (I only took a picture of a small taste of mine that I plated).

Ahrumderi P.

Yelp
Worst ever gross food ever I never leave review but I need food not fresh ever water inside mint was brown I ordered massala tastes was it cooked for 3days before and just hit up my husband was promotion i wanted be time with family time but there is no ac only broken fan are you kidding me i have to eat with sweating

Yelp
We were looking for a new place to eat around 4th Avenue- happy to have found a good Indian spot! We feasted on lamb tikka masala, vegetable korma, chana masala, and chicken tikka masala. Early birds get fresh service, and the gentleman was kind in accommodating my son. 4th Avenue has this good vibe so the ambiance was festive even on an early Saturday morning. 4.45 stars. Try them out!
google avatar

Angela A.

Yelp
The korma is heavenly... Rich and flavorful. We ordered the mild which had enough heat to give us a little kick. The navaratan korma came with lots of different veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, potatoes, and paneer cheese. The dish came with rice. We also got the veg biryani which was tasty too. Everything was made to order so it can take a little while but totally worth it. Service was attentive.

Yelp
The food, the service, and the ambiance of this amazing Indian restaurant are beyond delightful. The food is prepared to the spice level that is requested, and the cost is quite reasonable. There were four in our party, and our table was large enough to accommodate all of the dishes we ordered. The sauces in the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and lamb korma were just incredible and colorful. The lamb was tender and succulent, and the chicken was flavorful and moist. The lamb biryani was delightfully prepared. The okra do pyaza introduced a vegetable to our very rich meal. And the naan - yummy with the right amount of garlic and ghee! We'll be back, and I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant for anyone who likes or wants to try expertly prepared Indian cuisine.

Yelp
Either the waiter didn't convey my preferences, or the Chef couldn't comply; in either case, my preferences were not regarded. My friend had a good meal; she ordered Chicken tikka masala. I finally received the AlooGobi, which was very good, but it was frustrating.

Jigar P.

Yelp
The food was amazing! As an Indian, I've had a lot of authentic Indian cuisine. This place has to be top 5 in AZ. The butter garlic naan was incredible. The chicken tikka masala was mind blowing! Creamy, flavorful, and authentic. Definitely try it out! As a bonus, the mango lassi is DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Lynn V.

Yelp
Ambiance: Tons of seatings with an eclectic mix of furniture at times. Service: Efficient and personable. Food: Had the lamb korma and garlic naan which was delicious! Definitely one of the better indian places in town that's a bit under the radar. Huge portions and very flavorful. Overall, great addition to 4th street!
google avatar

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed our meal The ambiance was calm and the services was amazing when I'm back in town I will be returning Great naan !

Yelp
Very friendly staff and efficient service. We were greeted and sat down immediately. Asked for a recommendation and ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala. It was delicious and savory. Some of the best Indian food I've had. Looking forward to visiting again.

Annie H.

Yelp
Was delighted to discover this excellent Indian restaurant on 4th Ave. For appetizers, had cauliflower fritters in a mouth-watering garlic tomato sauce and delicious veggie pakoras. The smokey, cardamon spiced bainghan bharta eggplant and veggie kormas were also outstanding. Didn't try any of the meat dishes but Zyka Twist is a great option for vegetarians. The mango lassis were also yummy.

Ariana W.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from Zyka Twist. Got the butter chicken and it came with a side of rice. Also ordered the garlic and paneer naan. Everything was so good and authentic. The gentlemen who work there were friendly which is always a plus. Support local and give them a try!
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Indian food. My favorite Indian restaurant in Tucson. I ordered the chicken biryani in Indian spicy level. The Chicken Biryani was very flavorful with a lovely aroma. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I ordered the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan. Amazing food and amazing service! Will go again!
google avatar

Carolyn H.

Yelp
This is a small place in a heavy bar district so we weren't sure what to expect. But wow. We were blown away! Service was really friendly, and he brought us papadan which wasn't on the menu but I love it love it!! We ordered the butter chicken, shrimp korma, and paneer tikka masala. Also the garlic naan. Everything was phenomenal. The butter chicken was less creamy and more tomato forward than we were used to, but the flavor was complex and rich. The shrimp had a subtle cashew flavor and perfect spice. (We ordered medium + bc we were sharing with our 7 y/o and it was perfect). The paneer was creamy and rich. Note that soft drinks are in the bottle, no refills, but they do have some great beers on tap. We'll definitely be back and look forward to trying some of the other dishes. An unassuming little place with big flavors!!
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
Came on a weekday evening, quite empty, quiet spot to have a chat. Street parking was fine during that time, pretty easy to find a spot for free. Didn't have eggplant curry nor any non-cream paneer curries, sad. Got the aloo gobi and spicy, friend got chicken curry with medium, both got a garlic naan. The spicy was actually spicy, surprisingly. Flavors were good, not too oily. Naan was a bit flat, not the chewy kind of naan, garlic flavor wasn't very strong, just seemed like butter. Curry chicken was flavorful too, service was decent as well. Total was $40+ post-tax pre-tip.

Laurie V.

Yelp
Amazing food, fresh hot and delicious. Great service. This place is a family favorite. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Vanessa D.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I chose this place on a whim and it did not disappoint! The garlic naan did not skimp on the garlic, the mango chicken was so creamy and flavorful and the chicken tikka marsala was amazing. We were the only other people in there at the time and it was nice. It was clean inside the service was good. You could tell the owner really cares about the customer experience. We will definitely be back next time we are in Tucson from San Diego!
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
This quality food, at this price is amazing. I had the lamb curry and garlic Naan. Everything was outstanding, great flavor, great service and the place is nice and clean. Unless you really like spicy, maybe start with mild. I had mine medium and I loved it...it was about as spicy as I can handle. Aaaaand....they have rock and roll themed table tops! Mine was the Pink Floyd table! I highly recommend this place.

Emma P.

Yelp
Hands down best Indian food in Tucson!!!!! They do not have one bad dish and the service is so quick. Although the restaurant seems small it's a great ambiance! The menu is vast and can suit all dietary restrictions!
google avatar

Ricky T.

Yelp
Great food and amazing service. Thanks, we've enjoyed the place very much. The garlic Naan was delicious.
google avatar

Trevor H.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely amazing, such good flavors. I had the chicken korma and samosa. Both were extremely tasty. The staff is so friendly and helpful! Love the vibe of the place, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Go check it out!
google avatar

Deb P.

Yelp
Don't plan on them being open. Looking for a bite post-concert in downtown on a Friday night, their website indicates open until 11pm. Quit surprised when walking in @ 945 pm & the staff looks us up & down. Closed. Not even gracious about saying they were actually closed.

Dan R.

Yelp
We went to Zyka Twist the first time on the Friday night after Christmas. Our dinner and appetizer choices were excellent. We enjoyed the Garlic Cauliflower I especially liked the Chicken Tikka Masala. Since I live in the Feldman's neighborhood this excellent restaurant is closeby. We'll definitely be returning soon.

Cj S.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The aromas bring you closer, and the flavors make you never want to leave. Love them.
google avatar

Shane V.

Yelp
Reading the reviews I had high hopes, although there's a limited menu. The three dishes we got tasted the same. And my friend commented that it was like the fast food equivalent of Indian food. The bill for delivery, three entrees and 2 bread, plus tip = 71$ A total waste of money.

D S.

Yelp
Best Indian food in Arizona...blows away all other Indian restaurants in Tucson, for sure. So flavorful it tastes like Indian food in India. Service is super friendly and attentive. Such a pleasure to finally have such a great place for Indian food.
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
Came here for a family dinner on vacation and it was one of our favorite meals in Tuscon! The staff was very helpful from start to finish, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was super tasty, just a little spicy It was a nice private atmosphere to talk and unwind. Definitely recommend

Jacques T.

Yelp
My favorite garlic naan in town. Nice leopard spotting, kind of like a good Neapolitan pizza. Fresh garlic.
google avatar

Kala W.

Yelp
Fantastic food just like Indian Twist. So happy they are expanding to different locations. Best Indian food in town. Their butter chicken is amazing!

leighann m.

Yelp
Had a lovely lunch with very friendly and helpful staff (or owner?). Had a smoked eggplant dish and a chicken/cashew based dish and both were very delicious. The naan's were fabulous! Would definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Ashlynn B.

Yelp
This place was great! The food looked smelled and tasted amazing. They were able to make the chicken biryani without dairy to accommodate an allergy and the medium spicy was the perfect level of spice and flavor. All of the staff was so friendly and I'd definitely come back
google avatar

Yelp
Our recently discovered favorite Indian restaurant in Tucson. The staff is friendly and the recommendations were spot on. The fish pakoras were light and fresh, not greasy. I can say the same about the samosas. My wife had the fish korma, fantastic and I ordered something that was suggested the saag paneer that I would not normally get but it was great and paired nicely with the korma I shared with my wife. Looking forward to making it a regular dining experience.

Jessica W.

Yelp
5 stars for the food, which was pretty darn good. Prices were on par for 4th Ave.--expect to pay a few bucks more for the location--and the portions were reasonable. Our party was well-fed. 2 stars off for what felt like shady business practices. There's a ~7% "Non-Cash Adjustment" surcharge for using a credit card. The penalty is not subject to the sales tax, but it IS included in the total you tip on. A business can charge what it likes, but it should be upfront about the difference. When questioned, the owner waved around a fine-print notice that he said was near the cash register. But you only see the cash register if you're doing take-out, and we dined in. An extra beer was also added to our bill. Unfortunately, I only realized that when we got home and I double-checked our group's consumption with my husband. That could've been an honest mistake, but on top of the 'non-cash adj' and the fact that you have to explicitly ask for an itemized receipt, I felt actively cheated. Good food or no, I won't be back.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We enjoyed the Lamb Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken. Would recommend.
google avatar

Alexia R.

Yelp
Delicious, extremely good service and the owner is super caring and plays close attention to each customer and greets everyone, the food was 10/10 authentic and home style cooking.
google avatar

Yun-Hao H.

Yelp
Food was great and the guy from the cashier told me that the spicy level might be a little too hot for most of people and I took the advice and even medium was pretty damn spicy but tasty at the same time would recommend this place.

Randy L.

Yelp
I did not know I liked Indian food until I ate here. The Chicken Tikka Masala is off the chart!
