Where to Eat Korean Food in San Diego

"This late-night spot with an existing location on Convoy brings a Korean option to downtown San Diego. With a name that’s slang for “cheers” in Korean, the Gaslamp restaurant serves a wide selection of soju and soju cocktails to pair with dishes like gopchang jeongol, a hot pot dish with spicy intestines, and the “stair sushi” special, where each piece of sashimi and nigiri is presented on its own tiny platform, inspired by the female Korean divers on Jeju Island, or “Treasure Island,” who dive for fresh sashimi and place them on a similar “staircase.”" - Helen I. This is a Korean bar and restaurant. It has everything you could possibly want: Korean cuisine, sushi, soju, and karaoke. The store continuously plays videos of Korean stars singing and dancing, making it impossible for you to look away. Your attention is drawn to the TV. The atmosphere is great, and the food is also very delicious. The kimchi seafood pot is highly recommended.

We recently visited this sushi restaurant, and the food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Jackie, our host, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and attended to all our needs with kindness and professionalism. Unfortunately, our overall experience was impacted by the behavior of one waitress, Haley. We were a group of six, and two extra chairs had to be added to our table. One of those chairs was noticeably small and awkward for the table, which Jackie graciously resolved by borrowing a more suitable chair from another table. However, during our meal, Haley came over and abruptly demanded the chair back for another party. Her approach was rude and disruptive, showing no consideration for the fact that we were in the middle of our meal. Even after we explained the situation and our discomfort, there was no sympathy, understanding, or apology offered. While the food and Jackie’s service were exceptional, Haley’s unprofessional attitude unfortunately overshadowed what could have been a perfect dining experience.

Amazing spot here! Very warm, and efficient team here. The outside does not do this spot justice. You step in and you’re transported to an amazing, live, fun, and energetic space. It’s bright and loud, and full of life! K-pop blasting, and their music videos all over the screens. Cool little tables throughout the place; karaoke rooms. The food was delicious. The salmon nigiri is good. The Beef Short Ribs are delicious. The rolls are great too. We didn’t love the calamari; but it was solid, just washed out by how good the other dishes were. Go here, and you will love your experience!!

Wonderful spot that's open late. It is a great izakaya style place to go to get some truly delicious Korean food offerings. The service has been excellent every time, and the atmosphere is fun and vibrant. The Cheese Bul-Dak ( 치즈불닭 ) is exceptional!!! Lots of flavor and the perfect amount of spice. Bulgogi Japchae ( 불고기 잡채 ) is also excellent. The Deep-Fried Chicken Wings are VERY crunchy, but if you are looking for spice, they are a bit mild. Still delicious. There is a dedicated parking lot right out front. The establishment is wheelchair accessible and there is wheelchair accessible parking available as well. If it's super busy, you might have to park on a nearby street and walk over. They offer plenty of Korean alcohol beverages to choose from. Far more than most. You can also get a few Japanese beers and sakes here, too.

Damn I was so excited to try this place.. authentic Korean dishes that people don’t normally know about and I couldn’t wait to try! We showed up on a Friday night around 7 and they seated us right away, wasn’t too packed and there wasn’t a wait. I love that there is a call button at the table, every time we rung it they appeared right away. The inside was decorated like a Korean style bar with k-pop playing which really made the restaurant feel authentic. So we ordered the Pink Panda roll, the Takowasa, the Bossam (small), the Gabli and a watermelon Soju. The Pink Panda roll was delicious. The shrimp tempura was so good I could tell when I took a bite of it that it was perfectly fried. It had great flavors and the fish was so fresh! 10/10! The Takowasa (raw octopus) was way too salty, it had great flavor but the salt made it hard to keep eating… (7/10) The Bossam was served with lettuce, perilla leaves, jalapeños and garlic with a side of ssamjang. The ssamjang had great flavor, the perilla leaves and lettuce were fresh, but the Bossam.. it wasn’t good.. I don’t think it was boiled properly and/or when they made it they needed to add more daikon radish because it had that dirty taste pork had when it isn’t cooked properly. It was not good.. (4/10). And the Gabli lacked flavor.. it wasn’t marinated as long as it could have been.. and for the amount they gave us, we paid $26 and it just wasn’t worth it, completely disappointing.. (3/10). The watermelon soju was delightful though. (10/10) Overall I think there needs to be an emphasis on quality control, not rushing marinates and cook times..

The food is so authentic and good. We ordered sushi Roppongi roll, fish cake soup , pork soup and kimchi fried rice , everything is good. The place looks like a pub but is kid friendly with one of the best Korean food in this area

If you are looking for a place to eat but also to have some fun, this is the spot. They have karaoke private booth, good food and if you are a kpop fan, there is plenty of that. Love it and definitely will go back, when in San Diego

Great food, great service! They also have karaoke booths. They offer happy hour from 5pm-8pm Sunday through Thursday.

Yelp
Folks, let me tell you, I've had sushi all over the world--the best sushi, the classiest sushi. But Zzan Sushi & Soju? Absolutely fantastic. Maybe the strongest sushi I've ever had. Some sushi places? Weak, very weak--sad little rolls, no flavor, total disasters. But Zzan? Next-level. This is sushi for WINNERS. First of all--Korean sushi? Very powerful. You take the best parts of sushi, the best parts of Korean food, and you put them together--folks, it's genius. Only a winner could come up with something this good. Very innovative, very smart. The kind of sushi that makes you say, wow, why didn't we think of this sooner? The fish? So fresh. You can taste the success. The spicy tuna? Tremendous. The crispy rice? Crunchy, flavorful, perfect. And the Korean-style rolls? BIG, BOLD, STRONG. You're not getting some tiny little rolls that leave you hungry--no, no, no. These are power rolls, winning rolls. But let's talk about the soju. Folks, let me tell you--soju is very underrated. You drink it, you feel great, you feel powerful, you feel like you could close a huge deal at the UN. Some people drink vodka, some drink whiskey--but real winners drink soju. And at Zzan, they serve it ice cold, smooth, tremendous. I may have had one too many (or ten too many), but who's counting? The atmosphere? Incredible. Fun, lively, very high-energy. Everyone is eating, drinking, having the time of their lives. You walk in, and you feel like you just stepped into a VIP sushi and soju party. The kind of place where only champions go. Overall, Zzan Sushi & Soju is a TOTAL WINNER. Great food, great drinks, great people. Some people are saying best sushi in town, and you know what? They might be right. Five stars. Best sushi. Best soju. The most powerful sushi experience, maybe ever. Believe me. -- Donald J. Sushi Enthusiast & Soju Sommelier

Yelp
This is a chill, Korean place to listen to music, chat, and eat at. Great place to eat late night in Convoy! Parking can be really packed depending on the time of day. Late night parking around 11:30pm wasn't so bad last time we went. We really enjoyed all the food we ate especially the fishcake soup! Don't forget the yogurt soju! Good food, decent prices, and great customer service! We will probably come back again!

Yelp
Sooooo this was a spontaneous, let's go try something new date night. We were lucky and got a parking spot and went right in. We were seated and got our orders in. One complaint is that the tables are small especially with a hot pot on the table. We got some sushi and gyoza and it was amazing. The salmon was so fresh. The hot pot was delicious as well, but we were definitely eating with our eyes and our stomachs could not back us up. Highly recommend this place. Can honestly say I was blown away.

Yelp
Coming from out of town made reservations online a few days ago for 5pm party of 6 . Arrived about 3 mins before they opened. There was already quite a bit of people waiting. We were the first to get seated. The restaurant was dark and multiple screens playing, loud music playing in back. They have button you can press for service. It was nice that they dropped off a large pitcher of ice water. Order a roppongi roll, scorched rice soup and seafood, corn cheese, bulgogi japchae special a few found rounds soju bomb and lychee soju. Our order came out a few dishes at a time. The corn cheese was delicious, very cheesy. The Scorched rice soup was also very good. The rice was very crispy and the broth had a nice seafood flavor and good amount of seafood. They came to check on us and asked if we received the japchae which we didn't and took about 45mins to arrive to the table. The bulgogi was so good, sweet and tender. Overall the staff was nice the food was pretty good for the most part but service did take a while, also our empty plates were stacking on our table and they didn't bother taking it instead we had to ask if they could so we had more space on the table. Glad to have tried.

Yelp
This place is super fun. They have a great happy hour! It's later than most businesses do you can ACTUALLY make it there after work. HH is 5pm-8pm. They have some tasty Korean and Japanese food. Good sushi, loved the muscle soup. On the menu, the red prices are HH pricing. They also do Karaoke!! The lagging is a little tight so stay sharp. Great service, fresh food, good times! Sunday through Monday I believe for HH.

Yelp
LATE NIIIIGH CREEPIN!!! Ok the foodie in me wants to be so critical, but you have to ask your self how many spot stay open until 2pm and have crispy fried GOZAAAAA! Only one!! Zzan is fun friendly and serving fried foods to the best of us.. go for a hang, but if you want to eat they do that too!! Haha

Yelp
Food was amazing!!!! So so good. Place offers karaoke and other entertainment as well. Food was well made and came out timely. The only reason I'm not giving a 4 star is because our server was hella rude! Lol, bless her heart, she either didn't want to be there that night or didn't like us??? I don't know but everyone else was nice to us except our waitress. Hope she had a good holiday season!

Yelp
Zzan is a Korean-style izakaya located in the Convoy area. The restaurant is open until late hours so it's a great spot for those looking to sit, eat, and drink with friends/family. The parking lot can be very hit or miss, but there is nearby street parking that usually isn't as busy. Ambiance: I have only been to Zzan after 10:00pm, and I would say the vibe is typically bustling/busy. They keep a darker lighting (contradiction, I know but don't know how else to describe it), and have KPop playing on the TVs. Usually when I am here, there are a lot of customers eating, drinking, and hanging out. In other words, it is very much a late night Korean-style izakaya. Service: I have only had good experiences with service here. The servers are polite, quick and to the point; but still check in frequently to see if we ever need anything. Orders come out pretty quick, and we're rarely empty handed unless we're done ordering. Food: the food can definitely be pricey but that may be because it is based around shared, family-style cuisine, so you usually get good-sized portions. Drinks are reasonably priced and they have a good variety of options ranging from Korean wines, soju, beer, and hard liquor. Food is solid, and paired with drinks makes for a great hangout. In summary, Zzan is one of my preferred late night eat/drink/chill spots that I choose with friends when we're in the area and refuse to call it a night. Service and the food/drinks are very solid and though not cheap, are not outrageous. Definitely recommend this place for those looking for a good izakaya / evening social session.

Yelp
Came here at 11pm on a Sunday night and this place was poppin. Lots of people were here drinking for the long holiday weekend, I appreciated that it was open late. The quality of the fish and sushi was pretty mid, the rolls were typical. My boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian Roll which was a California Roll topped with Tuna and Seaweed Salad, and a Salmon Skin Cut Roll. He really enjoyed the Salmon Skin Cut Roll, he said it was probably one of the best he's had, but the Hawaiian Roll was meh. I ordered the Philly Roll, Salmon Lovers Roll, and Mackerel nigiri. The Philly was pretty standard, a bit on the smaller side than other restaurants and the fish portion to cream cheese was pretty small. The Salmon Lovers Roll had salmon inside the roll and it was also topped with more salmon, this was probably my favorite, fish was decent quality. The worst though was the Mackerel nigiri, it was pretty dry and bland so I knew it wasn't good quality. I am sensitive when eating old protein/meat and I started itching pretty much after eating the Mackerel so that was pretty disappointing. This is probably a good place for drinks but the sushi quality isn't there anymore. Sad, this is the second time I've been here and I had so much better quality fish the first time (about 2 years ago). Not sure if I'd come back for the food, but it's a good late night option for drinks

Yelp
Had a lot of work this past V Day, so my original plans were thrown into flux, but ZZAN more than saved the day. The wait was only about 45mins (on a typical night it would be much less, but V Day was insane this year) and we didn't mind that at all. Their button system to alert servers we need something is great, I just wish service was consistent all throughout. Towards the end, I spent about 30 mins waiting for a water refill and wanted to order more but no one would stop by when we'd try the button. What I really love here is the ambiance, FOOD, and DRINKS! Amazing flavors all throughout. Please try the Green Grape Soju , it's incredible and packs a punch. We tried the Unagi Donburi, Seafood Hot Pot, and a few rolls. Y'all... I know you see the delicious steam rising from the hot pot in these pics. I would order it all again, everything was a hit at ZZAN.

Yelp
I love this spot! I've been a few times and love the vibes. It's a Korean spot that also serves sushi and offer karaoke too! On my last visit, we got a couple bottles of Soju, japchae bulgolgi, budae jeongol, the pb roll, sea bream nigiri, bossam, and an ice cold glass of Asahi. Everything came out quickly and was so flavorful and delicious. Service was fine, they come buy whenever you press the button and leave you alone the rest of the time.

Yelp
This was a very fun place for dinner and drinks! I will say the place is quite noisy with K-pop playing loudly all night, so I would consider it more of a hangout spot more so than a sit down dinner spot. With that being said, the sushi was very fresh and I quite enjoyed being able to press a button to get a server to come over to our table. All of the servers were prompt and friendly.

Yelp
I went to Zzan this past Friday, and I had a great time! The atmosphere was quite lively, and it was very crowded. The servers were accommodating, but they seemed a bit busy/not completely attentive. We ordered the spicy rice cake, the budae jeongol, and two bottles of Soju. The food tasted great! The rice cake had a subtle hint of sweetness to it, and the rice cakes were very chewy and soft. The budae jeongol had a bit of a sour taste, and it was not too spicy. It also had a lot of sausage slices. Although the food was decent, for the price you pay, I quite honestly do not think it is worth it. It appears that you're paying more so for the pocha atmosphere. To think Korean snack foods are priced at over $30 is criminal, especially for ramen. I feel as if you could find better late night alternatives to get a better price/taste deal. I think I've experienced better and cheaper late night Korean bar foods in Ktown, LA. Overall, I had a good time here. However, it is a little pricy so I'm hesitant to return.

Yelp
First time visiting due to a board meeting followed by social mixer. Everyone ordered what they wanted but shared their selections. I ordered their #BulgogiFries #BulgogiJapchae and probably went overboard on the bulgogi but they were delicious as expected and they didn't skimp on the meat I had the #YogurtSoju for the first time and will add it to my soju rotation I tried a lot of items and the #CornCheese def stood out for me. I also enjoyed the #Tteokbokki but it was more soup than anticipated. The rolls were on the saucy side but it may have been preferred by those who ordered them. We had a semi-private meeting place with no doors and the music flowed in but we were able to accomplished business. They have karaoke but it was a work night for most, Service was courteous, prompt and attentive, I would come back and explore more of their Korean cuisine with a few favorites from this visit,

Yelp
Was craving some sushi with a happy hour, glad this was in the area. Here was my experience. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking, it could get busy during conventional busy times. Seating: Plenty of seating, maybe 50 people. Good for groups and even solo bar seating. Vibes: Welcome to Convoy! There are a lot of eateries. The spot itself is high energy, especially with the KPop music playing. You can socialize, borderline get some work done but moreover it's a loungy place. FOOD: Dragon Roll (Recommend) I was looking something crunchy with some unagi/eel flavor and this was it. Shrimp tempura, crab meat, eel, avocado, and eel sauce all in a lovely roll. Baek Se Ju (Recommend) I enjoyed this wine. It had a great earthy taste and I got a good buzz from it. Earthy wine. Takowasa (A-Ok) It's nice but not much of a fan personally. Raw octopus in "tiger milk" with some wasabi. Fresh but a bit too rubbery on my end. I'd save my stomach for other dishes on their menu. CUSTOMER SERVICE: James was my server. He was a good dude. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Great! Good selection of food, reasonable prices, and a pleasant experience. I'm open to coming back here, possibly using their rooms for karaoke. Until next time! TIPS: * Check out their happy hour.

Second time in the week eating at this place, I was tried 10pcs nigiri sushi just about. Oh man! Super delicious, will be back again soon with some things new on the menu! Instagram Comment by: @tltt_k1

Yelp
Food: The food here is pretty good. I really liked the salmon lover dish, giving it a 4/5. The torrey pines sushi was okay, with lots of toppings, so I'd rate it 3/5. The bossam was tasty and gets a 4/5 from me. Service The service is great. You can call for help with a button, and the staff are always super nice and helpful. Plus, I've never had to wait too long to get seated, which is nice. Ambiance The ambiance is cool, especially if you like a lively nightlife vibe. The inside has a great atmosphere that makes eating here a lot of fun and a nice place to catch up or hangout with people.

Yelp
Zzan Sushi & Soju is a total hit! The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and downright addictive; each roll better than the last. The vibe is relaxed but fun, with the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger longer than you planned. The staff is friendly and quick, making sure you're well-fed and happy without feeling rushed. If you're craving sushi in Convoy, Zzan's the place to go. Just be prepared to end up ordering more than you intended because everything is too good to stop eating!
google avatar

Yelp
The sushi quality was good here but value and presentation could have been better. The spicy Korean chicken pop was not spicy and too sweet. Service was okay, had to ring the bell to get our water refilled. We also waited a really long time for our food, probably 40+ minutes for our sushi to come out. Ambiance is fun, I would probably come back for drinks and small plates with friends rather than choose it as a regular dinner spot.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite happy hour and late night places on convoy. They have happy hour 4-8pm sun-thurs and the food is a steal. I've come here just with hubby and also with friends and each time it's a welcoming environment and friendly service. The server even hooked us up with a free beer last time- A+ in my book. Some of items I've tried are the bacon and kimchi fried rice (superb), corn cheese, seafood pancake, suimai, bluefin toro, spider roll, bugulgi jap chae (my favorite so far) and many others! You can't go wrong with their massive menu! I highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
I don't normally leave 1 star reviews, but I think it's important to address when a business cares more about money than their customers. I'll preface by saying the food is average for the price. Generally Korean food at later times in the night is overpriced so I understand that, but portions felt very small considering the price at this place. Our whole group had entered an instagram giveaway prior and gave them great exposure on social media, and they hadn't addressed any stipulations in the caption of the post so we planned on using it during this reservation for karaoke. However, the owner didn't allow us to use the giveaway prize because he claimed it was only to be used Sunday-Thursday, even though that wasn't part of the original giveaway caption or rules. We still came for our reservation, ordered food, drinks and gave the place a try. But I just don't agree when an owner clearly doesn't care about their customers. The owner was drunk while we were there and wouldn't even speak with me regarding the giveaway. I recommend taking your business elsewhere like somewhere like Jin because you can at least bring your own drinks and food there. I hope this business learns to put more effort into valuing their customers more.

Yelp
Got here around 8:30pm on a Sunday night. Not too crowded, but it did by the time we left. The vibe inside was really cool with all of the signed padres gear up and the kpop music playing. I was jamming out the entire time. Food was great. We got the kimchi bacon fried rice, the budae jeongol was a little salty for me. Bulgogi fries were fire and so was the chicken pop. We got the soy flavor for the chicken pop, and it did not disappoint. Really fun and great food. I would definitely come back again, because I really want to try their sushi too!

Yelp
3.5 stars. The atmosphere is fun-K Pop videos are playing throughout the restaurant. There is a service bell at your table which is unique. The food was average outside of the nigiri which I found to be great. The gyoza was also tasty. We ordered the bulgogi japchae, a few sushi rolls, and cucumber salad. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think I will be back.

Yelp
This place is amazing if for no other reason than they're open til 1am. Although they did drop our check around 12;30 as we were the last people there. Let me be clear, though: I am not bitching! You can get Korean and Japanese items. The pork tonkatsu was a dark brown and the breading was a little bland. The gyoza is deep fried, so if Manna is your style you'll like it. The galbi was pretty good. Honestly, I was just thrilled to find something with an open kitchen after 10pm. San Diego has gotten so lame post-covid. Even when I go back to bum f*(k Missouri the kitchens stay open a fair bit later. Anyway, I enjoyed the experience very much even though you wouldn't mistake this place for Buga or Ken. But who cares, the people who work there are asleep already while this place is still turning and burning.

Yelp
Sushi & Soju?! Yes please. Cute, lively & late night spot. We had a great experience here & service was pretty good for a late night spot. We were happy w/ our meal. Was visiting my son during the week & when searching for late night bites, surprisingly had very scant resto options. Zzan was a great choice to satisfy our hunger. We made a reservation online, but we prolly didn't need to, as we got seated right away. They offer Sashimi, Sushi, different Sushi Rolls & Korean Cuisine. Different flavored Soju & other alcoholic beverages. KPop music videos playing on two different screens made the vibe both chill & energetic. The gal & guy waiters took turns checking on us. And if we needed anything you just press the call button on the wall. I would definitely come back here for late night bites. They have plenty of items on the menu to try.

Yelp
My friend and I were recommended to this spot by another mutual friend and it did not disappoint!! This is a Korean-Japanese fusion spot. It has KBBQ, soups, sushi (raw, baked, hand rolls, specials, etc), noodles, appetizers, deep fried, etc. This is a great place for groups or even for just 2 people. And there's a little something for everyone. This area is not too busy during early hours of week nights. But this area in particular must get very busy as it gets later and later no matter what because this place opens at 5pm and closes I believe at 2am. And next door there's a place that has billiards. The parking lot seems big but like other places in Convoy, it can and will usually fill up super fast. When you come in, if they are busy you will check in on the tablet and get added to a wait list. I believe it's through Yelp so you may be able to do it on the app as well. Once they seat you, you get menus or you can scan the QR code they have. I can only upload 10 pics, but the missing page I have is the drinks. The person who seats you will let you know where your button for your table is. That button is used to call a server to take food/ drink order, additional orders, refills, and etc. If they're not super busy, they will occasionally check the tables to see if you're ready to order. FOOD: I've come twice in a span of a week. I just wanted to try more of their menu. So far a favorite amongst my friends and I are the corn cheese and salmon lover. We've also had the spicy and the garlic butter edamame as well. I prefer the spicy! The garlic butter was a bit too much for me. But my other friends preferred that over the spicy. We've also tried the bossam and it was good! I saw a recent review that said it was too salty, so I was a bit weary about it. But I decided to give it a try. It smaaaacked! SERVICE: Service is prompt and quick! The staff are very friendly, open to giving recommendations when asked, and checking up to make sure we're doing okay! I'm sure the service may change when they are busy. I just want to note that this place is low lights, so if you prefer bright, airy, and lots of light, don't go. I know some people don't like to sit and eat in the dark, so just a fair warning. It's not pitch black, but there isn't a lot of natural light. Definitely has been added to list of places to return to. I especially am interested in trying their omakase one day. Omakase is a Japanese word and refers to "chef's choice." The chef will make food based on what they are feeling, a theme, and/or based on season.

Yelp
Cheese corn 5/5 Sushi 4/5 Seaweed salad 5/5 Overall it's a really nice place to go out and drink with your friends and get a quick bite! The foods here are quite good quality and they have a happy hour until 8. The server was AMAZING with letting us know and order right before when we came in at 7:45! I liked how fresh the seaweed salad was and there were lots of different Korean food options other than sushi! Overall 5/5

Yelp
Came here to get some drinks and wow it was packed! Luckily we were able to get a table pretty quickly. It does get very loud in here with it being kind of small and drunk people. It was very crowded and busy so it took a moment for the host to help us to our seats but the servers were very quick and they have buttons on the table to call them over. We only had drinks, soju cocktails, which tasted good but was a bit pricey. Other soju cocktail places are cheaper and taste the same. Came here because I wanted to try out a different spot and it was a good time!

Yelp
Came here Saturday night with my girlfriends mainly for dinner. We made a reservation a week prior for 8 girls. We came here and immediately thought that the parking lot was pretty small for a plaza that has about 3 other restaurants there too. We checked in and got seated right after. We ordered salmon carpaccio, grilled intestines, garlic chicken pop, corn cheese, bugolgi fries and potato sausage jeon. The best dishes here were the salmon carpaccio and grilled intestines! The garlic chicken pop was mediocre, the inside tasted bland whereas the outside had a garlic glaze that was a bit too sweet for me. The bulgolgi fries also ended up being too sweet for me, but the meat was good. The potato sausage jeon was my least favorite because there was too many tastes and temperatures occurring when you ate everything together. I think because the potato hash browns were hot whereas the cold potato was on top with sweet sauce. The dish just threw me off overall. The salmon carpaccio was so good, I recommend to everyone who likes and can eat raw fish! The grilled intestines were so flavorful and the inside didn't taste bitter at all. This was a favorite for the girls. We would come back here again! They play loud kpop which I enjoyed! There's also a button you to push if you need service at your table!

Yelp
I got the peach soju, cosmo soju, bulgogi japchae, kimchi fried rice and corn cheese. I have been on the hunt for the best SD corn cheese and this takes the cake!! I do wish the corn cheese had a bit more corn but the consistency flavor was the best I've had in San Diego. The service was great and fast. It is definitely a night time vibe restaurant but it seems a fun place to just sit and chat over great food.

Yelp
Second time being here and the food remains as delicious as the first time! The service is quick and kind, and the ambiance is cozy, casual but can get lively. On busy nights and slower nights, both times were a huge success. Definitely adding to place to my list of go tos.

Yelp
Always come here to get drunk off soju, I live in Eastlake so it is worth the drive for me. Good food and good vibes plus they have Karaoke at the end of the night

Yelp
Friends and I stopped by for late night munchies after a night out. For a Tuesday, Zzan was open at the hours we were looking to grab a quick bite after an event we just went to. The restaurant was not busy at around 11:30pm and we were seated immediately. We ordered a round of soju bombs, bulgogi fries, and our other friend ordered some sushi nigiri. The food was good, service was fast and it was a nice way to finish the evening.

Yelp
My family and I had finished watching our movie on Sunday 8/18/24. We got out around 5:30pm and were trying to decide where to eat dinner. The wifey suggested Korean, so I reached out to my buddy to inquire about the Korean restaurant he had mentioned that he enjoys eating at because of the ambience. He recommended Zzan Sushi & Soju. We tried it out and the food was okay, but Zzan's customer service definitely has opportunities. Zzan is located in the Convoy Asian district. It is specifically located inside the outdoor strip mall called Convoy Center. It is in the same center as Shancheng Lameizi Hot Pot, Paradise Spa, Convoy Liquor, and Break Room. It's also next to Wienerschnitzel. Cool thing about its location is that it is across the street from our favorite drink place in all of San Diego called Yun Tea. The restaurant shares a private parking lot with the other businesses. As you enter Zzan, you immediately notice the Korean music, projector screen showing a Korean show, baseball jerseys of Korean baseball players, and a large neon sign that reads, "Life gets better with Soju." It's not that big of a restaurant, but it has table seating and sushi bar seating. I was turned off immediately by our male server when I asked him if they are able to split checks. His unfriendly response was, "No, you guys can figure out how to split it." This server needs to work on his customer service. The wait staff doesn't really check on you because they have a doorbell type system to get their attention. One positive thing about the wait staff is that they did bring out the food we ordered pretty quickly. Zzan is a Korean food restaurant that also serves sushi. After eating here, we still have not found a Korean restaurant that compares to our favorite Korean restaurant in Irvine, which is Chan Chan. The other thing that disappointed me was that Zzan does not serve banchan aka complimentary Korean side dishes. We liked that even on a Sunday, Zzan had Happy Hour pricing for their appetizers. For my family, we ordered the following: Fried Pork Dumplings, Jalapeño Bomb, Bulgogi, and Bacon/Kimchi Fried Rice. The fried pork dumplings and bulgogi were the best things I ate, but even these two items didn't blow me away. All of the food we ordered were good, but in my kids' vernacular, I would say they were mid. The dumplings were golden brown, filled with a good amount of stuffing, and dipping them in the provided sauce made them tasty. I enjoyed the bulgogi because it came with a good amount of meat and sautéed vegetables, but it could have used more seasoning. I was disappointed with the amount of bacon/kimchi fried rice that was served. Compared to our favorite Korean restaurant, this kimchi fried rice was for a single diner and not something that is shareable. Their kimchi fried rice was not memorable. The jalapeño bomb had a little kick, but the fried coating on it easily came off and was sparse. My buddy might think Zzan is a good Korean restaurant, but I'll need to take him to my fave one in Irvine, so he can experience what I consider is a really good Korean restaurant. It truly was a blessing to break bread with family and I really appreciate our in-laws treating us for dinner.

Yelp
First off let's just start off by saying how quick and kind our server was! Got us seated very quickly and brought our food out sooo quick no where have I been do they bring out our appetizers so quick! Sam was a great server and the atmosphere was great I really enjoyed the ambiance! Food was great, and for the prices (we went during happy hour) matched very well with the food received. Overall would come back again:)

Yelp
Came in on Friday the 6th right as the opened. I got seated right away. The servers were really nice. They play kpop and mukbangs on the few TVs and screens. My date and I got bulgogi fries, a sushi roll, and bossam. I hadn't tried bossa before but it was amazing. The fries were so good, though the meat to fry ratio wasn't great. I really liked the place and I'll go back at some point to try the drinks they have.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday and there was a good amount of people here enjoying themselves. Chose this place because they are open late on a weeknight. Upon walking in, the place had good vibes. But the food was just meh and it was pricey. We ordered the spicy seafood soup. The taste of it was ok. Not bad, but the seafood was shriveled up, barely any, and I'm sure it was frozen. This dish was super overpriced for nothing, kind of a let down. It is def not worth $30 or something like that. The jalapeño bombs were barely cooked, I'm not sure if it should still have a super crunch to it or not? The sushi was decent- just basic, but the masago was very fishy and def not fresh. The galbi was just galbi. Nothing spectacular. Maybe a place for happy hour for soju but I wouldn't pay these prices again for dried up seafood.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience overall. The woman running the place tonight was so friendly and very personable. The chef came out personally to ask us how our food was The food was amazing. Very very fresh sashimi, tender steak, and great Nigori selection. The place is super laid back and inviting. Probably going back tomorrow if I'm honest.

Yelp
My friends and I went for Valentine's Day. The vibes were amazing. Waiters were extremely attentive and on point with the refills. The food is delicious. It was my friend's first time trying the soju bomb, and we got her hooked. We also forgot to take more pictures as we were hungry, lol. She already planned for us to go back. They also have karaoke in the back, which I thought was kinda cool. We love karaoke and thought that it was such a fun idea to add to the restaurant. The 2 plates of sushi that we got are super delicious!! Honestly, we love the food and love that they have happy hour. The takoyaki was out when we went, so we were a little sad. But overall, fun experience, great atmosphere, good drinks, and delicious food.

Yelp
Overall, this place was really great! My girlfriend and I went here for a belated Valentine's Day dinner and we both enjoyed ourselves very much. I love that this place was playing K-pop music and their music videos which made the ambience very fun and had great vibes. The service was excellent. I love that there is a button to call for a waiter to come so that makes the service very much up to your pace. Above all else, the sushi and side dishes were delicious. I would highly anyone to come here and try it out especially with a group of people, it could be a really fun experience. I'm not giving this place five stars only because the Soju was rather overpriced being that two bottles of flavored soju came out to $28.

Yelp
Love the vibe here, kpop all around the room with screens and it really does feel like you are in a different country for a second. Food was amazing, we had a large group and everyone went home very full and happy. Service is pretty quick and our server was nice! Get the salmon lover's roll! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Stopped in for my husband's birthday since he wanted sushi. We ended up going in during happy hour, which saved us a few bucks. The parking situation was horrible tho. We had to circle around a few times and finally found a free spot down the side road. This was a random Monday night in December and I wasn't prepared for how crazy it would be around 6 pm. Ordered some lychee soju, garlic butter edamame, 2 rolls, bulgogi japchae and bulgogi rice bowl. Everything was incredible! We left so stuffed.

Yelp
Loved. We went on a whim when we were in the area... They have big menu with sushi, hot pot, noodles, apps etc! And SOJU! Service was great and we loved the vibe. I'm a K-POP fan now :) (but really) It would be worth the drive to come again! Thank you!
