ZZIM Korean Grill - Austin

Absolutely fantastic Korean restaurant! The service was excellent. Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive. The portions were generous for the price, and everything we ordered tasted amazing. The seafood pancake was crispy and flavorful, the galbi jjim jjim was tender and rich, and the seolleungtang soup was comforting and perfectly seasoned. They just opened, and I highly recommend!

Great food and service. There are few Korean restaurants in Austin that have gopchang, I got the small intestine and really liked it. If they added a dusting of soybean powder, garlic powder, salt like gopchang story in nyc, I would come back all the time! We also got brisket, kimchi jjigae, and seafood pajeon. The ban chan here is delicious. The only thing I would recommend is to keep the brisket off the bbq plate until it’s fully heated up, otherwise the brisket kinda steams up in its own juices.

I was so excited when I heard of “ZZIM Korean Grill” opening. I think Austin needs a restaurant which focuses more on Korean bone broth soups, Galbijjim, and intestine dishes. So glad this restaurant is here to fulfill that market instead of having to wait until my next Dallas/Carrollton trip. My husband and I usually split a LA galbi + tofu stew combo for lunch at any Korean restaurant we go that has this special. I like how this location has a lunch special all week (including weekends) from opening to 3pm. My husband enjoyed the LA galbi here more compared to some other restaurants in the area since it had a good balance of tenderness and flavor. I enjoyed the intestine tofu stew which was flavorful and the intestines had a clean flavor. I really enjoy these type of innard dishes but not many restaurants offer it. There were 4 side dishes included with our lunch combo- fresh style kimchi (geotjeori 겉절이), cucumber kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, and broccoli tossed in a mayo-dressing. The side dishes were good and refreshing, however I would say the geotjeori is more on the sweeter side. Overall it was a pleasant light meal (when split between two people) that is reasonably priced. I look forward to trying their yook hwae, galbijjim, grilled intestine, seolleongtang, and sooyook dishes! I will be back soon 🙂

This place just opened replacing Korean Grill in the Chinatown shopping center. They have a lot of variety in their menu including Galbi jjim and seolleongtang which not many places in Austin have. My wife and I had an incredible dinner having tried both of those menu items. The Galbi jjim is served over a fire to keep it warm the whole time. The portion was huge and we had plenty leftover. The owners are super friendly and have great service. Come support this new small business!

I ordered the Gopchang Combo, and it was incredibly good—almost as delicious as what you get in Korea. The combo of yang daechang, gopchang, and teukyang was rich, savory, and full of flavor. Since it comes out nearly fully cooked, you can start eating right away, which I loved. The doenjang jjigae and kimchi jjigae that come with it were also excellent, and the side dishes were top-notch. Highly recommend!

Great Korean Food! As close as it gets to being in Seoul lol we got bulgogi, bibimpap, and samgyup kimchi. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Our waiter, Peter was very attentive and answered all our questions on dishes. The side dishes were very good too. Not from Austin, BUT we will definitely stop here when we do come back!

The kimchi jjigae was incredible, and the banchan… omg, they need to sell that separately 😍 I devoured everything. I only wished the soup had a bit more pork, but honestly I still loved it. Great service, great lunch special, and the huge screen playing Korean variety shows was such a vibe. Definitely coming back!

Great Korean food. Definitely try Galbi Ziim for One. It is hard to find good Galbi stew in the states. My daughter ate all the rice cakes inside, my 2 year old son ate a lot of beef. Everyone is friendly and attentive.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to see that the place had been renovated. We ordered the corn cheese and the Galbi Zzim. The corn cheese came out first as an appetizer and we really enjoyed it. The owner Sung took the time to explain to us what the Galbi Zzim was so we had to get it. Let me tell you it was by far some of the best beef ribs I've had in a Korean spot in town. We're very happy with the new ownership and will be coming back

I've been to Korean Grill but I heard they are under new management now so decided to revisit. I appreciate that you can get complimentary hot tea-my husband and I love tea! We both got soup dishes. I got seollantang and he got dwenjang. I am not a tofu lover so I cannot speak much for the dwenjang other than the portion looked really small compared to mine. I like the seolleongtang for its clear broth. There are a lot of noodles and beef inside. I recommend it for a healthy, comfort meal! I'm surprised they don't have a typical Korean dish like yukgaejang though. Staff are friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed and comfortable dining in. I'm not sure how long the restaurant has been around but it seems older than other Korean restaurants I've been to. The restrooms are kinda dirty and the sinks are stained. I like banchan (the side dishes) but wish there was more variety. You may refill on banchan and rice. I think it's worth a visit, but the dishes are overpriced and menu needs more variety.

One of the few places in Austin where you can find goochang, and they do it so well. The sauces are excellent, and the side dishes are amazing. They were fresh, flavorful, and leaning slightly on the sweeter end, which I personally loved. The spicy pork is perfectly balanced with sweet, savory, and umami, and impressively, the quality holds up even for takeout. The owner is incredibly sweet, he works with his wife and other family members. Their hospitality is genuine. They are so appreciative of their customers, always so welcoming and smiling. It truly feels like a family run spot that puts heart into every dish. I really hope more people go and support them. I'll definitely be back to try their soup dishes next time!
