"Now run by the third generation, this family shop is known for its authentic Tainan street food. Made from scratch daily, the must-try stewed pork belly shows alternate layers of fat and meat and comes with dried radish, pickles, cucumber and marinated dried tofu on a bed of steamed Tainan rice. The complex, aromatic sauce goes down a treat with the rice. The pork is just as good in gua bao sandwich. The madou rice cake tends to sell out early, so pre-order by phone." - Michelin Inspector

We came here twice during our trip to Taipei with a 15 month old. The first time we lined up and waited for approximately 45 minutes, and the second time we went around 9:30am probably waited around 15 minutes until they put us to the front of the line after seeing us with our child. The food was amazing and I would highly recommend. The pork belly was extremely soft, melts in your mouth but I wished there was slightly more meat. The gua bao was also really good. The chicken rice was okay but I wouldn’t order again, I found the chicken to be slightly dry. The meatball soup was average and on the plainer side. We ordered the blood jelly and small intestine the 2nd time around and it was delicious! It’s much more flavoursome than the meatball soup. Overall, service and food was amazing!

Google
The best pork stew place in Taipei. Tried many places and this was our favorites. The porks were very well seasoned - not too sweet, not too much spices or too fatty. The side vegetable also helped to balanced the richness very well. Line can be very long had to wait around 30-45 mins and then find a table after.

This place is famous for its braised pork rice (lu rou fan) and even has a Michelin star, but honestly, I found it quite underwhelming. The flavor was just average — the pork was tender, yes, but the slices were way too thin. For this dish, the meat should be thick and juicy to really bring out the richness. You’ll also have to wait around 30 minutes, not because the place is packed, but because the service is painfully slow. The staff take their time arranging each piece of meat in the bowl as if they were playing a puzzle game. Overall, it’s not worth the wait. There are plenty of other spots in Taiwan that serve much better braised pork without the unnecessary fuss.

Line was long but moved very fast. Waited for about 30 minutes. Service was fast, ordered and food was prepared. I got the pork over rice and bao. Both were delicious, pork being very tender. There aren’t many seating, so may have to share a table or wait for others.

Wait time: if you get here before they open at 9, you can take a number for the queue, go somewhere and come back at 8:55 to get in line. We got here at 8:45 and our number was 6. By 9:05, it was already our turn to order. We got our food immediately after ordering. Food: we ordered gua bao, braised pork over rice, and the fish ball soup. Gua bao was best one of all 3, but it wasn’t the best I’ve had. I would have liked a little more pickled mustard green with the bao. The braised pork over rice was too greasy, there was little to no meat, mostly fat. The cucumber salad was crunchy and refreshing. Fish ball soup has a clean taste but was nothing out of this world. Overall, if the line is too long and you don’t feel like waiting in line, just go somewhere else. I’ve had gua bao at other street vendors in Taipei and they are just as good. Same goes for lu rou fan

Google
Gua bao was unique, nice soft warm bao, with soft succulent braised pork, peanuts, salted vegetables. Really delicious The braised pork bowl (卤肉饭) was really good. Add a braised egg and it is a very balanced flavour in a bowl. Really like the cucumber and salted vegetable

Google
Worth the wait!! Had to queue for about 30 mins but it was worth it. Had the braised pork rice and the bao and it was incredible - the pork was cooked to perfection. The sesame cucumbers on the side of the rice were so good, and the greens inside the bao really elevated it! A few tables outside on the street that clear quickly, may have to share with others though! Definitely a must visit in Taipei

Google
Its cash only - I only had card and only figured that out after waiting in a line for 20mins. They were so nice and insisted on not worrying about paying. I had the braised pork over rice and gua bao (taiwanese burger) and they were both great! I came back to pay and they were saying "that I shouldn't have" and "they were too thankful"😂😂

Yelp
This Michelin-recommended spot (5 years in a row) definitely lives up to the hype. It's busy with tourists, so expect a long line, but the fast service keeps it moving. Seating is limited to sidewalk tables, but takeout is a convenient option. The pork belly is cooked to perfection--melts in your mouth with rendered fat and balanced seasoning that's not overly salty. The guabao is the standout dish, featuring peanut powder, Taiwanese mustard greens, and cilantro wrapped with the pork belly inside a sweet, fluffy white bun. The combination of sweet peanuts and fatty pork is perfect, with the cilantro and mustard greens adding a nice textural contrast. I also tried the rice bowl with pork belly, chilis, cucumbers, tofu, and rice. The crunchy, sweet cucumbers were a highlight, and the bowl was well-balanced overall. The soup had good depth of flavor but was a bit oily from the rendered intestine fat--still hearty and satisfying.

Yelp
This was my first time here after hearing rave reviews from my roommate and her sister. I got to say, they were on point again. Their gua bar is the most amazing 1 that I ever tried and I did not ever think I was ever a gua bao fan. Ever since I tried on this trip, we went on a hunt for other gua baos in Taipei area and nothing comes close. I also like their braised pork kong rou fan. I will come back very soon during this same trip.

Yelp
The lines here are long all day and are filled with both locals and tourists alike. We got their signature gua bao bun with pork belly, peanut powder, and pickled vegetables. The pork was tender, not too fatty, super flavorful, and the ratios were great on everything. We also got the pork belly rice with pickled vegetables and bean curd + pickled cucumbers, which was a pretty big portion. There's nothing like Taiwanese pork based comfort food. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
Wow! What a long line already at 9:30AM! They just barely opened for the day. We came here for their famous Guabao. There are guests from different countries also in line. I am shocked this is not 5 stars. Probably a star deducted because this place is small.

Yelp
Omg! This place is very busy so be prepared to wait 45 mins or more just to put in your order. The place has the tastiest gua bao and the braised pork over rice is also tasty. Need to try getting here once they open so you can get seated more easily.

Yelp
It's a decent place to try, but if the line is too long, come back at a different time

Yelp
Really fluffy buns, pork blood soup wasn't bad. But so many tourists even during weekdays. Not very organized in seating customers. Need to be diligent in letting the shop know to find you a seat.
