Yu Kapo

"This renowned kappo restaurant moved to this address in 2021; it has a minimalist look with light wood and a slate grey palette. It now boasts five private rooms, the largest one seating 20. There is only one omakase menu for lunch and one for dinner, featuring fish from Yilan County and seasonal produce from Japan. The kamameshi course following the main is always a highlight, using ingredients such as unagi or Hiroshima oysters." - Michelin Inspector

This was an amazing dining experience. The staff were super attentive and the food was great from start to finish. They also have a pretty unique selection of plum wines which were all very very good. Some of my favourite dishes were the uni stuffed in the shisho leaf, the fried fish, the abalone, and the shark fin (I definitely recommend upgrading to this it was absolutely divine. The tuna and the shrimp were also standouts from the omakase course, and the desserts were light and refreshing to round off the meal.

Well deserved Michelin star! Except we were seated by the kitchen door, thus we had ppl walking in and out the kitchen next to us, temperature changes as door opens n closes, hearing noises from the kitchen clashing with their zen bgm was what took minus points in their atmosphere.

Exquisite experience. The Valencia orange with Calpico ice dessert was a bit of a letdown. But other than that, everything was a hit. Special call out to the unagi rice and grilled fish - these two dishes were the star of the show.

As a sushi enthusiast, kappo-style dining has never been my first choice. However, after my first visit to 彧割烹, I found myself returning several times. The way the dishes are presented, along with the thoughtfully curated order in which they’re served, really impressed me. They also have signature dishes that stand out and make the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food is so delicious that it keeps drawing me back, and each visit feels just as satisfying as the first. While it may not have been my usual go-to type of restaurant, 彧割烹 has definitely earned a place on my list of favorites.

Omakase with a slight Taiwanese flare. Local and imported fish from Japan of course. Quality ingredients prepared with care and allowed to shine. Remember you get what you pay for. So not your everyday experience. We have had omakase in Japan before and this compares very well to them. This is not your quick meal, so remember to savour the flavours

One of the best omakase in Taipei that is not just resonantly priced but most importantly a great line up of menu you’d wow upon tasting. Unlike many other omakase that goes ordinarily but highly priced, yu has got everything from the ingredients to ambience to chef and to the services. Would def. Go back again. It’s hard to book though, no last minute seating for sure

Used to think my favourite Japanese fix outside of Japan was one Michelin starred Sushi Kimura (Singapore), but this changed my mind. Food wise, I'd say it's better than most of the omakase I've had in Japan. And service wise, while the girls were not dressed in kimonos, their service had been impeccable. Would definitely recommend and be back.

Amazing dinning experience and food quality. My mom and I were exploring the alley and we walked passed the restaurant front without knowing it's a reservation-based restaurant. But the owner (also the head chef) was kind enough to let us in. The restaurant runs on an omakase menu, with seasonal offering that is based on local ingredients. Price point is more on a higher end but not too expensive considering the personal approach and high quality offerings. I really can't recall how many course we have eaten but every single course is of careful preparation and creative twist. The owner and the young team of chef has made this Japanese cuisine into their own very way of cuisine - something that only they can offer. I will definitely definitely come back again. And thank you for all the heart and dedication you and your team has put into the menu! It was truly an unforgettable experience.
