"Sit down at the counter, and the calligraphy on the wall catches the eye. A gift from the chef’s mentor, it reads ‘Jikishin’, meaning ‘true heart’, a Zen exhortation to disengage from worldly attachments and maintain a pure spirit unsullied by petty distractions. The omakase set menu begins with items reflecting the chef’s experience with Kyoto cuisine, then proceeds to sushi. The beguiling texture of the sushi rice, which leaves a lingering sweetness, derives from a combination of rice from both this year’s and last year’s harvests. Sushi moulded with unwavering conviction and an honest heart." - Michelin Inspector

Absolutely one of the best sushi omakase experiences I’ve ever had. The variety of dishes was incredible — each course was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive: attentive, warm, and made the whole experience feel truly special. It’s a very unique omakase that stands out, even among other top-tier spots. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for high-quality sushi and a memorable dining experience. Well worth the price!

My wife and I had an uncomfortable experience dining here. We sat with just one other guest for an omakase dinner. The other guest was alone and may have been a friend or relative of the chef. The two of them chatted in Japanese the entire dinner while my wife and I sat there awkwardly. I understand there was a language barrier, and the sous chef recognized we were uncomfortable so he tried making a bit of conversation. If you don't want western tourist, then you shouldn't accept their reservations (or their money) Half of the dishes were prepared by his staff in the kitchen, to which he simply plated and presented to us. Honestly we had much better food at much more affordable restaurants throughout Japan and to be treated as outcasts really put a damper on the entire experience. Perhaps only local Japanese get the full omakase experience from the chef, but as a western tourist I would choose another omakase restaurant while visiting Japan.

Faultless and delicious meal with welcoming staff. The octopus, young sea bream, lean tuna, horse mackerel and prawn were highlights. Great wine list too with burgundy by the glass. Thank you again for a memorable evening.

Already planning to return to Sushi Miura as the food was highly memorable and the chefs are lovely. Even among all the amazing sushi places in Japan this place stands out, I plan to be back.

American tourist here. Our meal at sushi Miura was one of the top 5 meals of my life, not only for the food, but for the incredible hospitality we experienced while we were here. Upon entering we informed the chef we did not speak Japanese and were given excellent assistance from his assistant who was friendly, knowledgeable, and made for some wonderful conversation throughout the meal. We ordered sake and we’re allowed to pick from an array of pretty cups (small gesture, but fun). The sake was so much cheaper than we expected it to be considering the quality, and the chef provided excellent recommendations. Despite the language barrier the chef provided us with such warmth and kindness that only added to the level of the cooking, which was insane. As someone who is not knowledgeable about sushi or even particularly big on fish, I loved nearly every bite of the meal. The bonito in egg in particular, as well as the tuna, uni and mackerel were wonderful. The chef knows how to use citrus to make every fishy bite balanced. Overall, the experience was once in a lifetime. I would have paid double.

We had dinner on a weeknight, there were two others diners, four total. We enjoyed a wonderful and peaceful meal.
