Dinner at Sushi Miura was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. My wife and I are in Japan for our honeymoon, and this was our first omakase experience since our arrival. We love omakase dinners in NYC so we were super excited to finally indulge in an authentic experience here in Japan. Chef Kenta Miura is a master at his craft, and it’s evident he takes great pride in his work. His sous chef, whose name I regrettably let slip from my mind, was also fantastic and a pleasure to converse with. His English was great, and I wish I had known more Japanese then but I did my best to speak to him in his native language as well as a sign of respect. The meal leaves nothing to be desired, and upon hearing that my wife and I were there on our honeymoon, we received a complimentary dessert with candles and a little note which was very thoughtful and certainly an above and beyond gesture given all the food they had just provided. It’s obvious they care about their customers, but even so without this kind gesture. Upon leaving, I used the bathroom and when I walked out I couldn’t find my coat in the closest. Come to find out, Chef Miura was outside with it waiting to say goodbye to my wife and I. Having lived in America my whole life, I have never experienced this type of kindness and it blew me and my wife away. What may be the norm here is certainly not where I come from, and it speaks volumes to his character. While most people will not read this review all the way through, it would feel like a travesty not to mention every little detail that made this night unforgettable.
