The Best Bars in Costa Rica

Microbar Samara
Bar · Nicoya
"Where to Find the Best Craft Beer in Samara Microbar takes its moniker seriously. The space is tiny—roughly the size of a one-car garage for Smart Car owners—and the beers of the micro variety. Most are from Costa Rican brewers, and crowned by bronze taps pulled beneath vintage movie posters. The serves cocktails as well, which we found to be hit or miss, a small misstep for an otherwise solid pocket bar."

La Uvita Perdida Cantina de vinos
Temporarily Closed
"This comfortable wine bar may be a bit hard to find in the trendy Barrio Escalante, but worth the search. Oenophiles love the flights offered at La Uvita, like an array of glasses from Argentina’s Gran Caballero de la Cepa brand or the Cinco Elementos Robles from Ribera del Duero, Spain. The flights are served alongside intriguing tablitas , short wooden planks topped with cheeses and other Mediterranean nibbles. The menu is tight, but goes well with the wine—and you sometimes get live music, too. By Travesías"

El Be - Tamarindo Beach Club
Permanently Closed
"For a Night Out El Be Tamarindo Beach Club will never go out of style. Take your pick between the bar terrace and DJ—ideal for dancing all night—or the Sandbar, where you can relax on the beach. In either spot, you'll enjoy an authentic Costa Rican kind of party, with friendly locals and surfers, and happy travelers."

Pacifico Bar
Permanently Closed
"Dance Lessons in Pura Vida Part dive bar under the palms, part reggae dance hall, and part DJ club. This is the place to come for a great night out with friends. All Pura Vida!"
Restaurante Coco Loco

"Fun on the Beach On the white-sand beach of Playa Flamingo, Coco Loco has everything you need to set your afternoon or evening on the right note. Enjoy fresh food and delicious cocktails in a fun, laid-back environment. Make sure to try their signature drink, the Coco Loco: a sweet and flamboyantly colored concoction."
