TØRST

Bar · Greenpoint

"Williamsburg having had its moment as the epicenter of cool in Brooklyn, some of that energy has moved north in recent years. Greenpoint remains a largely Polish neighborhood, but one hipster beachhead has been Tørst on Manhattan Avenue. The bar is all about beer—21 different ones on tap, with selections rotated regularly, and more than 250 bottled choices. The bar's interior is a bit of Scandinavia-meets-Brooklyn, all wood, marble, and mirrors with vintage light fixtures. (That said, most evenings the bar is too crowded to really get a good look at the space.) While there was a Michelin-starred restaurant, Luksus, in the back of the bar that was a surprising hidden gem, it closed in 2016. Tørst still serves food, though the menu now consists less of culinary feats and more of satisfying sandwiches, tasty bar snacks, and some larger sharing plates at dinner (strip steak, burrata, clams fra diavolo)."
