Unlike its faux-rustic parents, this Bryant Park restaurant leans into Midtown glitz, with a shiny bar serving elaborate cocktails, like the signature Blue Blossom that looks like Windex but tastes like flowers. The deep-fried shell is black with cuttlefish ink and blisteringly hot. If you’re too impatient, the sweet-and-salty duck egg yolk “lava” will gush out everywhere. "A dressed-up Chinese restaurant in the Garment District offers rainbow-hued dumplings, wagyu beef soup dumplings, and a good version of fish in sour cabbage soup, but the real move is the salt-baked half-chicken ($39) — one of around 20 available per night. It’s a tableside spectacle: the succulent half-chicken is wrapped in parchment, covered in pink salt, and lit on fire tableside until the alcohol added burns off; a server then wields scissors to open the paper and parse the bird into easy-to-get pieces instead of having to tear into it.
