15 Places Improbably Frozen in Time

"Constructed during the 1860s, Goathland Station has managed to survive the changing times and remains part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, where steam trains seasonally travel throughout the national park. It’s a beautiful village station and attraction in its own right, but Goathland’s claim to fame is definitely its appearance as Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone or Sorcerer’s Stone depending on which side of the pond you’re based. The station’s buildings and platforms have altered very little in the last 100 years, making the station an authentic time capsule of an era long gone. It harkens back to a time when traveling by steam train was the only alternative to horse and cart. The village of Goathland is also a small, quaint place and the station plays a key role in the village’s annual Wartime Weekend which takes place every October. During the celebration, local residents dress in period clothing, and the station is adorned with props to resemble its World War II period.  Goathland Station was also featured as Aidensfield Station in the ITV drama Heartbeat, the town of Mannerton in the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, and in the 2005 British film Keeping Mum." - ATLAS_OBSCURA
