"Originally built in the 1960s by architect Mario Pani as his private residence, this six-bedroom guesthouse now draws aesthetes and cool-kid creatives. Four rooms sit in the main house—one suite retains the original fireplace—while a new annex across an atrium and covered courtyard holds two contemporary suites. An all-white lounge showcases more than a dozen works by the late American abstract painter James H. D. Brown, and there’s a communal guest kitchen. I also like that it’s an easy stroll to Little Tokyo, with some of the city’s best Japanese ramen bars and coffee shops." - Alexis Mustri Guindi
