"The seasonal outdoor Sunday market at Discovery Bay—on Lantau Island, 30 minutes by ferry from Central—has nearly 100 stalls selling Hong Kong-made crafts. Because the neighborhood is filled with young expat families, many of the products—jewelery, baby clothes, small batch food products, gifts, etc.—have a cute-and-crafty aesthetic rather than a cool-and-edgy one. But it's amazing to see that cottage industry exists in a place as commercially-driven as Hong Kong. Not to mention it's great escape from the skyscraper-filled city." - Janice Leung Hayes
