15 Best Bars in Portland, Maine | Condé Nast Traveler

"Howie’s, located up a ramp and right next to the entrance to the highway, is one of Portland’s best dive bars, hands-down. The place is without frills, but has great ownership and lots of regulars. There's a solid selection of craft beer and good old macrobrews, plus surprisingly drinkable wines for a dive. The pizza—which starts at $6—has a cult-like following, and all of the other fare is just as delicious. It's not fancy, but fancy isn't what you're looking for when you order a basket of mozzarella sticks." - Joe Ricchio
