"In Brooklyn I visited a thoughtful institutional retrospective, Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200, which looks back over two centuries of the museum’s history and the borough’s artistic practices (on view through February 22, 2026) and also tells the story of the Beaux-Arts building that houses it. Nearby galleries feature Monet and Venice, where 19 of Monet’s Venetian paintings are set in dialogue with works by the likes of John Singer Sargent and Pierre-August Renoir (on view October 11, 2025–February 1, 2026)." - Charlie Hobbs
